Very easy to use and effective, but the red catches (that hold the cutting head on) are thin plastic and eventually fail. You can screw one of the cutting heads onto the tool and it will work fine, but this makes switching out the heads a chore!

I have had one of these for a few years and found it very good. I bought this one for my son as a moving in present for his new home. It is a very use ful gadget. There are cheaper ones but they are nowhere near as robust. It is worth paying extra for this one. I would highly recommend i

What a great piece of kit this is, so very light and user friendly, I would certainly recommend this Bosch product to anyone who likes to keep the edge’s of their lawn neat and tidy and also any small potted shrubs such as hedging.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI broke my right wrist and I’m right handed and I wanted something light that I could use in my left hand to cut an ivy hedge, thin branches on bushes and nettles and I thought I’d try these and I’m so glad I did because they are brilliant and did everything I wanted. I’m a 66 year old woman and I definitely recommend them. They came in a lovely little box and delivery was excellent.

Quality product for trimming hedging or lawns.
Decent enough battery time and makes short work of most trimming jobs.
Like the carry case which is again good quality and keeps everything together in one place.
    Five stars from me!

This is a cute combo made gardening so quick and easy. Once charged quick an easy to assemble, the case that holds the combo is so neat to pack and store away. I would recommend

Brilliant product. I have gone from a “G&T in the sun gardener to having to do gardening. So looked for easy products.
I bought this primarily for the grass edge cutter. It cuts right up to the edge. I have the added advantage I don’t have to remove the rotary drier or a stone ornament on the lawn.
The little plant trimmer is also easy to use and such fun to use I am trying not to decimate the garden by over trimming.

Can be charged up really quickly and is very lightweight in use. Obviously, not as effective as a hedge trimmer but is an additional tool for the smaller lighter jobs. Glad i bought it!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMakes gardening a pleasure when you find a tool that actually exceeds your expectations … this one has.

I had to purchase a second one since my garden is quite large and there’s a ton of edging and trimming of various grasses and shrubs to do – the 50 minute or so charge isn’t enough … it doesn’t help that I like to take my time so I probably run the power down more than most by dilly dallying

A few people asked about weeds between paving slabs … will the isio shift them? – obviously not down to the root but if you carefully use the smaller cutter flat against the slab you can whack the weeds off level with it … handy if you’re not fussy or need a quick tidy up.

I’ve learned to manoeuvre both the cutters to do jobs that other tools can’t manage … and it’s small enough to reach any tight areas and corners.

It’s also relatively quiet … I find it fantastic for whipping off my neighbours overgrowing bits without him hearing me … the less I see of his grumpy face peering down at me like he’s the god of gardening the better!!!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this to trim some bushes and a little hedge.
I have not tried the grass edging connector yet, will update review then.

    For the hedge trimming connector I gave 4 stars, taking one star off for;

    *The weight distribution is off,
the connected head is very very light, whereas the battery is the main part, which you hold and it is quite heavy, which leads to it being badly balanced and makes it difficult to use.

    * The power from the motor to the connected head is quite weak, and with something as light as lavender bushes it struggles, often suddenly stopping, leading to a jerking of the unit, which combined with the poor balance makes it , in my opinion, a bit dangerous, as nearly dropped it a few times due to it nearly jerking out of my hand.
I think I am disappointed because Bosch is a good brand and expected a better level of performance and design.

    Positives;

    * It is compact and easy to store as it comes with its own case to store everything in.

    * It was quick to charge from the box, and has a clear indicator light that pulses red whilst charging and goes green when charged.

    * The heads are easy to attach, they clip onto the main body easily and come off easily for cleaning and storage.

    * Some may not see the following as a positive, but I do, especially given the poor torque of the motor…the hedge trimmer blades are inside a metal casing, the picture you see is of that fixed metal casing, the blades gold inside and cut between the lattice of the casing, meaning they are not exposed Dring storage.
The downside of this is twofold…
    1. They are impossible to get to to clean thoroughly or to sharpen them. I am not sure it is possible to remove the casing.
    2. It limits the size of what you can cut,bto being something that fits with at least a 3 mm gap between the casings lattice, I would guess at nothing over 4 mm diameter can be cut… having said that I personally don’t think the motor could cope with cutting anything thicker so it was probably mainly designed that way to stop people burning out the motor or snapping the fine blades inside the casing ( they act like scissors in the gap between the casing lattice when on, snap back into the casing when off).

The overall performance is less than hoped for, I used to have a proper hedge trimmer, which was double handed and cut through hedges and shrubs like butter, so I may have been spoiled.

I would say if you only have some light trimming to do, this will probably suit you. From a single charge I worked my way through 2 little hedges and 6 bushes and it was still charged when I tired it away so believe the battery life to be good.

    Note:
The battery does not seem to be removable, so when it goes I assume you will have to buy a whole new set, although I could be wrong, I just cannot see how to get it out. If I do find out it can be replaced, I will update with indication of how and how much.

This little edging shear/hedge trimmer has been a great tool so far. Providing you pick the correct attachment, it will happily deal with edging lawns, dead-heading, reshaping shrubs and even facing up leylandii hedging. It had no trouble dealing with this year’s growth on buddleia, forsythia, spirea, bay-leafed laurel.

The battery really lasts, too – with all the stop/start of gardening, I can bodge about the garden with it for a couple of hours doing bits here and there, swapping the attached tools as and when needed. The claimed duration for continuous use seems about right. This version is very light and easy to wield – there is a further model with bigger battery capacity that adds weight.

The charging connector is a very snug fit – yes, it uses a ‘phone-style’ charger plug, but the actual connector is unique, so don’t think that spare USB cable will do. I like the storage case, though, and the 2yr Bosch warranty extension if the tool is registered online. The Bosche website has some excellent support, too, with exploded diagrams, maintenance advice and a very easy way to click purchase any bits should they be needed.

Obviously, tougher, more woody growth will stop it, but that’s why I have a proper set of hedge trimmers with a 76cm blade that can tackle branches up to maybe an inch diameter. I won’t be trying to trim my 8ft-high 100ft-long leylandii hedges with it, but for jobs where those big hedge (more like tree) trimmers are just unwieldy, these little ones are spot-on, (and that includes a spot of occasional trimming in between the full jobs looking after those hedges).

Summary: A practical and easy to use solution which provides a professional edging finish to grass and hedges.

In the Package: The Bosch wireless edging shear comes in a soft shell carry case which offers good storage and protection. Two blades accompany the shear: one for lawn edging and the other for use on hedges. A mains charger is included along with a set of instructions and warranty information.

Design: The shear is compact and lightweight with a multi click system to swap blades quickly and easily. The handle has a textured rubberised coating which assists in keeping a stable grip of the device. The power button is located under the handle and the safety switch is adjacently placed on the handle. Blades can be interchanged via a multi click system.

Using the Edging Shear: The device itself is very easy to use – simply hold the safety switch and press and hold the power button to operate the shear.

Blades move rapidly and with precision as the shear is moved in a straight line across grass edging or along shrubs and hedges to deliver a professional finish.

A multi click system makes changing blades simple and without any fuss.

It would have been beneficial to have a “lock” function for the power button once pressed so that the handle could be gripped a little lighter as any relaxation of your grip results in the device switching off. Also, the charging port is located by the bottom end of the handle which can be a little awkward to connect.

The shear is fully charged about 3 hours from flat and I have not needed to recharge it since it’s first charge a couple of months ago.

Conclusion: The Bosch wireless edging shear is a fantastic product which delivers truly professional looking finishing to grass edging and makes trimming hedges easy. Aside from a couple of minor design flaws i.e. no lock button and the location of the charging port, this is a magnificent tool.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent tool for professional looking garden edging

Golden Review Award: 355 From Our UsersThis is a really good clipper which has exceeded my expectations.
Battery life is good and quality of construction is excellent with a surprisingly effective cutting action and very sharp blades.

Obviously this is not going to shave a huge hedge or cut though branches like a full size petrol or mains clipper would but for the ivy on the front of my house it does an awesome job – really quickly too – check out the video in this review to see it make short work of the ivy.

I’ve seen a few reviews for this product mention that the zippered case which the clipper, charger and mini head come in is ‘pointless’ or ‘not needed’
but I find it to be perfect for ensuring that my clipper and relevant parts stay tidy, clean and protected – all round this is a great package and well worth the money so I would highly recommend it.

Plants I have used the clipper on so far include ivy, hebe, heather, dwarf conifer, decorative grass and rosemary – nothing too big or ‘woody’ and it handled them all no problem.

One final note: In the video I’m wearing wireless headphones not ear muffs – the noise from this clipper is very low and doesn’t require you to protect your hearing.

We only wanted the shears, not the hedge trimming attachment but just to buy the shears is not available at the time, summer 2015. Unlike Black & Decker, this is supplied with a neat box. It suited us fine But if users wanted to use the hedge trimmer, they would have to detach it or not use the box after doing the trimming. At the time of purchase did not know of an equivalent Black & Deck model which comes with wall mount for charging. This seemed like more sensible unless Bosch provided a longer box.
The grass shears is good for our purpose, which is to give the grass a hair cut around the 25 stepping stones across the lawn and across the edge of patio.
The safety button has become a safety catch in that if you release the trigger but not the safety button to go onto work on the next stepping stone for example, is no good. You have to release the safety button, press the safety button once again then the rigger to power the shear up once again. (Over engineereed ? I’d say so.)
The discounted price of 49 was available at many outlets, include an orange coloured out of town shed. But couple of weeks after purchase from Amazon saw the above mentioned Black & Decker for 30 or 35. Would have bought the B & D instead as we only needed the shear, had we seen the B & D first.
Nevermind, when the battery of this one dies, hope by then somebody will have copied and manufacture a model which will use 4 rechargable AA cells instead, at least that would be 4.8 V at running at (2900 milli amps an hour x 4 (for the best AA rechargable NiMh cells available at time of writing) instead of the weak 3 volts that the Bosch comes in. Kick myself for not seeing the B & D first for that model runs at 7 volts (but didn’t see what current on the box the model runs at)).
