Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersMy dad has one, he rants & raves about it! So when I needed to do a ton of DIY and flat pack furniture, I knew I had to get one.

    Battery life amazing!
    Power. Mighty Powerful
Toughness. It can do any task!

I would highly recommend this Bosch drill for anyone! It’s a staple item for your home.

Lovely points: the LED arrow that lights up on top pointing which way the drill will go.
The wee light on the base to see if low light

The battery pack battery level indicator is good to know when your running low. Or full.

    Battery charges super quick!

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersWhat a superb little drill. Battery life is incredible comes with a very sturdy carry case this will perform as good as a Ryobi it can drill through concrete with the hammerhead function it’s a super little drill I got it on offer about 60 seven pounds ish and I’ve used it no end of time since I think if you probably work in trade then you probably will look elsewhere but for home use for drilling through concrete posts which is pretty hard going at get this drill plus also I registered with Bosch and got three years warranty and they had an offer on providing an additional free battery which is just incredible isn’t it really because that’s what you’re paying for plus the battery can be used in other Bosch products so just go for this drill you will not be disappointed

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is the 2nd one of these drills that ive bought. The 1st one was got almost 5 years ago and still going well. Im puting in a new kitchen so needed a 2nd drill so i dont need to keep changing from screwdriver bit to drill bit. Ive had all makes in the past like Dewalt, lidl but bosch drill are not as heavy but still powerfull enough for most jobs. The batteries from my old drill are a different shape but they still fit with the same type of connection. I Alway buy stuff like this in the sales and believe it or not, but the price hasn’t gone up in 5 years. Amazon usually do a Bocth promotion a few times a year.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this drill set with 2 batteries and charger to replace a similar set I lost when helping my son move house.
This new set was great value – almost 20 cheaper than the one I bought 5 years ago.

For DIY jobs I like to use two battery drills so I can have one set up as a drill and one as a screwdriver.
The original Bosch 18V drill always worked well.

The new batteries are now smaller and lighter than my original Bosch 18V driver drill batteries but both battery versions fit the drill and charger.

I recently bought a Bosch cordless strimmer without a battery and these 18V batteries also work well on the strimmer.

This drill replaced a 16 yr old Bosch drill driver. the battery packed up and it lost torque/
Not sorry I chose this one its lighter and also has the hammer function and 2 batteries which is a bonus.
I used to make and fit metal gates and railings, I used the last one every day I was fitting, it must have put in literally thousands of 8mm set screws and never let me down.
Thats why I went for Bosch again, I am impressed so far with this one, I think having 2 battery’s is a big bonus the last one only had one battery but in 16 yrs it never let me down.
I paid 109 for the old one and 95 for this one that cant be bad

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersNice size, quite small and relatively light compared to the pro versions, but a good thing for general jobs around the place. Feels very solid and well made and plenty powerful enough for the jobs I’ve done so far in the short time I’ve had it.

Comes in a sturdy carry case which initially seems way to big with lots of empty space, but is actually good for storing drills and screws in between the moulded partitions around the tool, batteries and charger.

Nice point, which I didn’t realise until I received it, is that all the other Bosch tools in this range use the same battery.

A well-balanced drill and good value coming from such an established manufacturer.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI recently purchased the Bosch drill, and let me tell you, I am absolutely thrilled with it! It’s so powerful and efficient, it makes all my DIY projects feel like a breeze. Plus, it’s super fun to use – I mean, who doesn’t love a good power drill?

But what really sets this drill apart is its sense of humor. Yes, you read that right – this drill has a great sense of humor! Whenever I’m using it, I can’t help but chuckle at its witty one-liners and clever jokes. It’s like having a comedy sidekick right in my toolbox.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my Bosch drill. It’s a reliable, efficient, and hilarious addition to my tool collection. I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a new drill or a good laugh.

Golden Review Award: 48 From Our UsersPeople seem to get a bit confused when it comes to the large product catalogue offered by Bosch. The PSB 1800 LI-2 belongs to the Bosch Home and Garden product line. It is therefore black and green and is aimed firmly at occasional home DIYers. For this reason, it has smaller capacity batteries and the motor contains non replaceable carbon brushes. It is not the most powerful combi drill and has a maximum masonry drill diameter capacity of only 10mm. But it is designed to hang picture frames, mount roller blinds and exterior light fittings, and for that it is close to perfect. When you first unpack the drill, there are two things that will be immediately obvious. The first is how compact and slim the drill is. The second, is how beautifully lightweight it is. For general home DIY, you really don’t need anything more than this drill, as it can do it all. It can be a power screwdriver, a standard drill, and even an impact drill, for that one occasion where you need to fit a new outside light. For general lightweight DIY, the PSB 1800 really is a kind of Swiss Army knife, with everything from multiple torque settings, to a twin speed gearbox, to a medium duty impact function. It is a very good product. If you need to do some more serious, heavyweight or frequent DIY, then you will probably be better off looking at the Bosch professional range (blue/black coloured). As this is where you will find the high capacity battery packs and the heavy duty, brushless motors. But you then start seeing the tools weights rise.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersUpdate: I had labelled this as dangerous as shown in my original review, I would like to alter that. The reason being I did but another Bosch drill, similar but slightly lighter and easier to use which I prefer. However I persevered with this one. I did keep turning it on and the flames eventually got less. Even though I always keep it in the box and is rarely used, it did get dusty and just needed a clean. I was dubious as I was doing this so only turned it on in short bursts. If it had been wired I would not have done this. Now its as good as before.

Even though I have used it a few times and it has been in the box for years I still have had no reason to use the second battery and have only just charged the first battery for the first time. It does keep its charge.

I bought this a few years ago. I only do occasional diy so it has not had much use. Just the odd few holes drilled into a brick wall and that’s it mainly. I admit I liked it, easy to use and a very handy thing to have, always ready. In fact I just used the second battery for the first time as I forgot to charge the one I had been using.

Unfortunately, flames started coming out of the back and there was a lot of smoke. I hadn’t even done anything just pressed the trigger to test the drill.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersEDIT: I’ve revised this to 4 stars. I think I was a bit too harsh. Yes, it’s still no good for brick, concrete or even hard wood. Since my original review below, I’ve been using it to hang an internal door, fit door handles and other carpentry tasks and it has done an admiral job for those tasks. Just get a rotary hammer as well if you need to drill brick and concrete.

When I first received this combi drill, I loved it! Problem was, I had never truly tested it.

It’s pretty good for assembling flat pack furniture. (Note that you would probably need to buy more accessories such as hex bits.) The plastic carry case is also surprisingly useful.

I also managed to use it to hang a towel rail in the bathroom. (Though this kit doesn’t come with drill bits – I had to buy those too.) This drill made nice neat holes in the grout.

The battery seemed endless for those kinds of tasks. You could assemble a whole houseful of flat pack furniture on one battery. I questioned whether I really needed two batteries.

Fast forward 3 years and now I have some real DIY tasks… and this drill didn’t fair so well.

First, I tried to drill some 16mm holes in wood to fit a mortice bolt. Drilling into a solid oak door with a flat wood bit got me nowhere. A couple of turns into the door, and it was clear there wasn’t enough torque. I had to resort to a 25 year old corded Bosch drill which struggled but eventually powered through. This drill did manage to drill a 16mm hole in the pine door frame. So I guess you can drill 16mm holes as long as it is softwood.

Then I tried to top fix some blinds. Unfortunately, my windows have concrete lintels. There’s no chance this drill can get through that. (To be fair, even the old corded Bosch didn’t make progress there.)

    So, what it couldn’t do:
    – 16mm hole in oak
    – any hole (not even 3mm) in concrete

    What is good about it:
    – nice carry case
    – great as a screwdriver (as long as there is enough space)
    – can drill 16mm holes in softwood
    – can drill into walls, as long as it’s not concrete

So on hindsight, I wonder whether I would have been better off just getting a 12V drill driver and a separate SDS rotary hammer. A 12V drill driver should be more than sufficient for flatpack furniture and they are more compact. The SDS rotary hammer would be used for drilling into brick and concrete.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI’ve had this since November 2019 (7 months) and it’s been in constant use. I bought it on offer as one of my Makita batteries packed in and got it almost as cheaply as a replacement genuine Makita battery. On first taking it out of the box, it felt like a toy drill compared to my Makita, as it was so light. I was a bit worried that I’d bought a piece of plasticy rubbish. How wrong I was. I’ve used it more and more as I bought it with two batteries and it has never let me down. The power to weight ratio really surprised me and it really does pack a punch, even on masonry which I normally used my Makita or corded B&D for that. Even after a few masonry holes, the battery was still well charged, although I would still use the other drills for the bigger or deeper holes. The light on the front has come in handier than I anticipated, as I first thought it was a bit gimicky. The charge status lights on the battery are really useful too. I’ve had no issues with the chuck and believe me, I’ve hammered this drill since I bought it. There may be a design fault with the chuck if other reviewers have had problems, but as I said, fine so far so I would definitely recommend this drill, especially if you want a light weight drill with plenty of oomph that’s durable too!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI haven’t had this drill for very long but it has already impressed me. So far I’ve used it mainly as a screwdriver with a corded drill doing the drilling, though this little beastie has also been used for drilling. I did a full day with it, roughly 9:00a.m. to 6:30p.m. and only needed the second battery in the last hour. That was a pleasant surprise and means that the third battery I bought separately leaves me a little over-equipped.

It is light, compact and yet fairly powerful. The trigger allows much better speed control than my old drill which means no more breaking the heads off screws — a great blessing as drilling them out and replacing them adds time to a project. The torque setting seems as if it will be the thing I get used to last, not because it is awkward but because I have not used a drill/driver with a torque setting on it before. I doubt it will take long to get used to it. My big project this year is to replace nearly all the furniture in my home with furniture I have made myself, and to double the amount of storage space. Having the right tools for the job really helps, and this is one tool that doesn’t feel as if it is going to let me down.

EDIT: Did another day with this tool and it impresses me more each time I use it. I was able to use the hammer drill mode to drill into a brick wall and with new masonry bits it had no trouble. It was certainly slower than a mains powered drill would be but it was still impressive for such a small and light tool. The day was harder on the battery so I did need the second one in the kit quite early in the afternoon, but the charger in the kit can charge a battery in about an hour so this was not a worry.

When I registered for the three year warranty I was very surprised to see what Bosch provide. There are disassembly diagrams for the tools you register and spare parts can be bought once the tool is out of warranty. Not only that but the spare part prices are actually reasonable! In addition I looked around the web site and found spare parts for power drills discontinued 25 years ago. That’s proper backup for customers and gives me great confidence in my Bosch tools.

    Definitely recommended.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersI purchased this Bosch drill shortly after moving into a new home. Faced with the prospect of putting up shelves, assembling flat pack furniture, and all those other dreaded DIY jobs, I wanted an easy to use multipurpose drill to make life easier. Three projects in, and I am totally delighted with my purchase.

The product is supplied in a sturdy plastic box with dedicated spaces for: the drill with battery; the spare battery; and the charger. A double-ended screwdriver bit is also included, which is very handy and takes up almost no room. The box and is made of solid plastic and feels robust, and I have no doubt it will be durable. I especially like the sturdy clips which securely close the box with a satisfying click, as well as the locking hole to keep my tools out of the wrong hands.

The drill is the main event, and it more than delivers on expectations. The drill is perfectly weighted in the hand, and its soft-touch plastic handle is a pleasure to hold. The controls to set the drill mode, torque and direction are easy to use and solidly constructed. Fitting drill bits can be fiddly and I’ve had a couple come loose in operation, but have learnt to ensure the chuck is totally closed before drilling, and that it clicks when I try to ‘over-tighten’ it. The work light, which I thought would be a gimmick, is actually invaluable for accurate drilling. It’s especially useful when you are starting a hole and need to be confident the tip of the drill bit is in the centre of your mark.

My drill is only a few weeks old, hopefully the batteries will prove long-lasting, but they are certainly weighty and the included charger is very welcome. Inserting a battery into the charger is not easy at first, but once you get used to it (and accept you’re not going to break it by applying a lot of force) it’s perfectly doable.

Suffice to say, I am very happy with my choice and would recommend this Bosch drill to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful, robust and easy to use – fantastic for DIY

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI had been looking for quite a while for a good balance of a quality combi drill and one that isn’t going to ‘break the bank’.

After purchasing various other Bosch tools and appliances, I decided that this was a reasonable price for a 18v Li-ion Combi Drill with two batteries so ordered it and was happy to receive it the next day with Prime.

Upon opening the green plastic case, the first thing I noticed is how small this drill is, but as they say “It’s not the size, it’s how you use it”! It actually makes the drill a bit more ‘balanced’ when holding and does help when using it in tight spaces.

The build quality is good, the plastic doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy.

I’ve noticed there is a very slight delay sometimes when you first pull the trigger and wonder if this is a result of the Syneon Chip which intelligently manages the drill power, gears and motor. This isn’t really an issue, you just have to make sure when drilling into things like wood, to make sure it is running before applying more pressure as if you push too hard before it is spinning, it loses the traction on the drill bit.

The battery life is great and charges quite quickly. I’d recommend buying the two battery set (especially as it’s cheaper at the moment) as it’s a lot more convenient to have a battery charging whilst using the other.

The battery indicator is a nice feature, as is the light which shines perfectly on the drilling site.

I’d also recommend the Bosch X-Line 50-piece Accessory Kit which works great with this drill.

I’ve read a couple of reviews saying that it is underpowered, but I honestly haven’t noticed this. It’s more than suitable for drilling into brick, but as with most drills, if you want to drill into concrete, buy an SDS drill.

Golden Review Award: 198 From Our UsersI needed a new cordless drill as I recently bought a house which came with a long list of minor DIY jobs to tackle, from fixing brackets to walls, to building flat pack furniture, to fitting curtain poles, and my ageing cheap old drill just wasn’t cutting it any more. This package seemed great value with 2 batteries and the quick charger and I’ve had good experience with Bosch tools before so it seemed a good bet. This is a nice compact drill, probably getting on for half the size of my old one (although granted that one was about 8 years old so I’d expect tech to have improved and compacted in that time), making it much easier to use in tighter spaces and generally less unwieldy. It feels nicely balanced in the hand and easy to line up as needed. The auto lock chuck is a nice touch, making tightening up bits a piece of cake, and an equally nice touch is the work light that shines up from where the batter pack attaches rather than from behind the chuck, making it less easily obscured

In all honesty I didn’t originally buy this model for the hammer drill function, I already had a powerful corded drill on loan for masonry drilling so bought this mainly for the regular drilling and screw driving functions, but the price difference between the regular and combi version of this model was so small it seemed silly not to just go for the combi anyway. Nonetheless, this little piece of kit has really pleasantly surprised me, I’ve used it for drilling into brick several times already and it’s handled it no problem. Now granted I’m only talking between 3mm and 6mm holes in regular house brick, but nonetheless I’ve been impressed by how much this compact little unit will handle without complaint. It has also handled all the typical screwdriving and wood drilling applications you’d expect without complaint. Considering it technically comes with a little less torque than some of it’s competitors (but comes in a little lighter as a result, so swings and roundabouts), as a casual DIY-er I’ve yet to come up against a situation where I felt it was lacking for it’s purpose

I’ve only had this drill for a short while so can’t comment as to how well the batteries last and how well it continues to perform over a long period of time, but on early impressions I’m very impressed and extremely happy with my purchase. Just be sure to use decent drill bits with it (true of any drill), I at first had a feeling it was slightly misaligned as it was wobbling in my hand in use, but it turned out that I was just using a cheap drill bit which had bent!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis yet another example of the phrase “Its a Bosch, of course its good” ……. its superbly engineered, sits wonderfully in the hand for use, and almost screams at you “Use Me” 🙂

This is a superbly designed drill, and a lot of thought has gone into the aesthetics of use. It sits wonderfully in the hand and if you refer to the Item Photo, most individuals index finger will extend three quarters along the main body, and the rear of the drill, will be about one inch towards the wrist beyond the lower hand knuckle. Yes its small, and that’s its real Big Picture telling point ….. the adds hugely to the flexibility and adaptability of the drill as you go in and out of tight drill situations.

The index finger naturally rests against the trigger, and the red slider top centre in the photo is an easy to use reverse/forward gear changer that can be operated with ease with the thumb without moving your grip on the handle. The battery position and weight combine nicely to produce a very well balanced drill in use, with minimal fatigue – the weight (such that it is) of the battery nicely counter-balancing the weight of the Drill main body. The mounting and securing mechanism for the drill bit is vastly superior to the previous version, Bosch listened well to feedback, and have eliminated the old problem of loose drill bits. The main speed controls on the top of the drill are easy to understand and twist/change with your free hand. All in All an excellent design that has the aesthetics and ergonomics nailed.

When you use it for the first time, you know you have quality in your hand. The trigger and speed mechanisms are precise, have a solid chunky feel about them, and have a firm – almost authoritative (!) – quality to their use when changing the various drill characteristics. The speed controls and trigger are pretty well infinitely variable giving precise control over your efforts. The latter frees up other worries in your mind, and you can just go ahead and concentrate on the job in hand. If you are thinking of the Bosch Drill Sets in the Green Boxes, without a doubt go for the larger set, at these prices they are a no brainer, and the Bosch X103Ti Drill Set complements this drill superbly – 103 drills and bits for just over 25 in their own carry case is a no-brainer.

I genuinely cant think of any bad aspect to this drill – it ticks all the boxes anyone wants to think up. Run don’t walk to get one 🙂
