Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI liked the feeling, as it pulled my hair all out to the root, but I can’t do it again, as there’s no hair to take off, so be warned, as it seems pretty permanent.

All attachments are easy to connect to the main body of the device. It’s is very simple to use and is most efficient at removing small hairs. The results last longer than shaving with a razor.
There is a discrepancy in the photo of the device on the website to the actual product provided. Mine didn’t have the Exfoliation brush and it wasn’t pictured on the box that came.

Nice feminine design but most importantly does the job.

Better results than waxing for me, which often misses the shorter hairs

    We’ll worth the investme

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI have been interested in buying one for a while but was worried about how painful it may be. Pain isn’t so bad and gets easier the more you use it. Keeps my legs smoother for longer. I am very happy with it.

This product is so good, easy to use and a good investment . It made me save money with trips to the salon. The battery last for a long time.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a great product, but don’t expect it to be pleasurable, especially on your nether regions. However, it is built really well and works very well. It’s got the weighty, solid feel of a quality product. I haven’t tried other epilators, so I can’t offer a comparison.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersVery uncomfortable/painful to use at first, but the more you use it the more accustomed you become. I’ve only used it for my lower legs, anywhere else is just way too painful to attempt desensitisation. Less time to wait between uses compared to waxing, and not as smooth as shaving but it gets a large majority of hairs out.
The trimmer that comes with it is lethal! So many pinched bits of skin that result in cuts, even from careful use – avoid bikini area!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThe new silk epil 9 claims to have a 40% wider head. This is it next to my silk epil 7 that just died. Not sure if a man did these measurements, but as you can see in the photo, it’s definitely not 40% bigger than previous models!
Works just as well as my old one, no complaints.

    Works well

I originally had the Braun Silk-pil 7 Epilator, which I have been using for a number of years now. As it still worked and did the job I thought there was no point in splashing out and buying a new one. Well recently on a whim I thought I would do just that and decided to get the newer version Braun Silk-pil 9 Epilator and oh my goodness I am so glad I did. It’s like someone re-invented the wheel! Whilst I had no problems with my old one this is so so much better, not only is it cordless but it seems faster, is more efficient with it’s larger head, so covers a bigger area and therefore takes less time. I could not be more impressed! My poor old epilator is now relegated to the bottom of the drawer and my new one takes pride of place in the top drawer.

Having previously tried an epilator several years ago, I never intended using one again because the pain was so bad. However, after waxing, I didn’t like having to wait for all the hair to grow back to remove it so I thought I’d try it again. I’m glad I did, because it has made hair removal a lot easier for me. I found it slightly painful on the thigh and bikini area but legs, arms and underarms didn’t really hurt at all.
The device charges quickly and is easy to use, although I had to buy a 2 pin to 3 pin adaptor to use in England. A single charge let me do both full legs, both full arms, underarms and bikini area. First time took about and hour and a half, subsequent times have taken about an hour to do the lot. I’ve been doing it weekly but I’ve heard the time between epilations increases and pain decreases as you use it, so I hope that’s the case. I can’t really compare to other modern epilators but I have been really impressed with this one and wouldn’t hesitate to buy again.

I tried epilating many years ago but didn’t stick to it. I found it painful & laborious.

I thought I’d give epilating another go because I was shaving my legs so often they were being sore & I had lots of ingrown hairs & bumps. I was really surprised that the epilator worked so well on first use as my hairs were quite short, but also thick & some ingrown. My legs are now silky smooth & I found epilating quick & easy. I highly recommend.

This product had changed my life! I was worried reading some comments. I do not like pain believe me but this was really nothing. Hurt a lot less than waxing and if I can cope with it you all can. Just done my legs for the first time and was easy enough and relatively pain free. Can definitely see the effect straight away. If this means not having to shave every few days this is a game changer!!!

This is wonderful and so easy to use. I upgraded my Silk-pil 3. Yes, 3, which I purchased for 80 over a decade ago. I deliberated over the expenditure for months, wondering if it could really be that much of an improvement.
It is! They are like night and day. I wish I had upgraded years ago! I used to put off epilating legs day until desperately required! No more. This cordless number makes it so easy and, in comparison, is painless. I now do my legs weekly to keep them looking good.
If like me, you are hesitating, don’t. Go for it. So simple and easy to use!

My last epilator was a another big brand but was quite uncomfortable to use and i assumed all epilators were the same…… NOOOOO this epil 9 is amazing just feels like your using an electric razor. I was so impressed I bought 1 for my daughter and she has now gone on to tell her friends about how easy it is to use.
I epilate about once a week and legs / bikini / chin and upper lip are very smooth just like waxing .
I would recommend this epilator to anyone.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI don’t write many reviews but after reading A LOT about this before spending the money, because let’s be honest it’s not cheap! but ……..I do think its worth it. I’ve had braun 5 for a few years which always worked pretty well and i was generally pleased with it but this is something else, easy to hold and nice in the hand, with the larger head it covers a bigger area and I couldn’t believe how quick I was finished and without having to go over the same area several times like with my 5 meaning my facial skin was much less irritated. Overall very pleased with my purchase the only reason I haven’t given 5 stars is the heads that go over the tweezers, so you can do a smaller area only come in very narrow or quite wide, there doesn’t seem to be a medium one which is the one i used to do facial areas with my old epilater.

Like all other epilators, it takes a while to do. It may hurt the first time round but you get used to it. Hair regrowth takes longer than with shaving and unlike waxing it does not stretch your skin. This saves me a lot of money. Easy to hold. Usually you get about 95% of the hair.

I will say though that like all other epilators I’ve used, regardless of how much you clean it, hair will eventually gather inside and stop the head from turning and working. At this point you have to take it apart and de-hair it, which requires a screwdriver and some dexterity. If you don’t screw it back together properly it prevents you from using it with the head protector.

The machine itself is good, does what it need to do and battery lasts to do full legs + under arms + bikini
Downside is that the cable it’s not UK even though bought in the UK. It seemed that was a European one but when I tried with European adaptor, it wouldn’t fit either. I had to use a multifunctional adaptor in the end, connected to a US to UK adaptor to be able to use it. So lots of hassle in that sense.

Old review: Hurts a lot and kinda just isn’t worth the pain :(( leaves a lot of red dots where hairs were and and kinda caused a lot of ingrown hairs,, wasted money for me but I suppose for people with less sensitive skin it could be fiine hehe

    Update:
Reused a couple times now and I’d say it’s actually quite good, but you have to be really patient when using for the first time (or at least in my case) appears to be significantly easier the more times you do it, however it does still hurt, a lot, and does leave the area a bit red/ sore after, however applying some aloe Vera gel on to it and making sure to exfoliate before seems to reduce this redness fairly quickly, only a few in grown hairs that I am attempting to treat with “tend skin”, which does appear to be working, plus around the times of not shaving, continuing to use moisturizers etc also does help. It isn’t perfect but then again there isn’t seemingly any hair removal method that is. I would recommend if you can bare some level of pain and also looking for something that leaves you with smooth skin for quite a while (after the initial uses of course).

Golden Review Award: 28 From Our UsersI have been epilating since my sister bought me a Phillips epilator aged 16. I am 50 now and this week my Phillips sparked when I plugged it in and aged 34 it was consigned to the bin. I never shave anymore but I don’t epilate that regularly either, hiding my hairy legs in leggings and tights over winter…I know…attractive eh?! Over the years my leg hair growth has certainly become more sparse and the process less painful, although underarms are still a bit eye watering. So I read the reviews and decided to splash out on the silk Epil which is rechargeable, and comes with a sleek battery operated pen shaver for intimate areas. I bought the two pin adaptor at the same time. I charged it up for two hours and set to work, with very poor lighting as the sun was dropping…on my legs, which were last epilated around one month ago. I tried it on setting one and I noticed that there was no pain whatsoever, it felt like using an electric razor. It was quieter than my old model which made a fearsome sound akin to tractor mowing over metal. The light is a fabulous idea, and really allowed me to grab all the hairs. Old epilator didnt have a light, and I always missed some of the hairs that were growing in different directions. Old epilator was also a great deal more uncomfortable to use. I turned the power up a notch onto the second setting recommended for seasoned users and I could feel it this time, more like the discomfort of my old one, although not quite, and more than tolerable. I was left as always with legs that dont feel as silky smooth as a razor shave, but do feel a good deal smoother than old epilator offered and I definitely feel that the coverage was a good deal better. I turned next to my pits. Perhaps I should have taken advantage of the battery operated shaver that came as part of the package and trimmed my rather long sparse underarm hair before attempting to rip it out by the roots, but I didnt and accordingly it was rather unpleasant. I attached what I thought was the massage head, recommended for sensitive areas, but realised afterwards that I had used the facial hair head instead, which restricts the area of coverage, perhaps prolonging the agony. However, my pits are now hair free and they do feel smooth. I then turned to the hairs that have popped up on my upper lip…I really am not the hairy ogre that this review portrays, but want to tell it like it is…..so I used the facial hair attachment again and OOCH…..gosh this hurt, it is though the first time I have ever addressed facial hair with an epilator, hence I think this would get easier as it has with my legs for sure. Finally I had a quick whip around the bikini line with the pen razor….easy to use and very effective and it hasn’t irritated my skin at all. Job done in around 10 minutes. So all in all, I have to say I am very pleased with this product. I will probably use it more than my old one, on account of ease (no cords to get in the way), pain (certainly on the legs this felt much easier and on setting one, a walk in the park…… The lead with adaptor is slightly too bulky to fit in the bag with all the attachments etc which is a shame, but other than that I can’t fault it. I have purchased a loofah, because I feel this might bring the silkiness closer to a razor shave, as you can get bumps developing from ingrowing follicles if you don’t exfoliate and I havent really paid too much attention to this part of the regime as an infrequent exfoliator. I will be interested to see how long this session lasts for. Having applied some moisturiser to my legs, they do feel pretty smooth, and I think this product is well worth the money. I hope it lasts me another 34 years by which time I will have more hair on my lip than my head.

It’s amazing! So easy to use I wish I had bought it sooner! An epilator doesn’t give the same finish as wax but is easier to use and you don’t have to wait weeks for regrowth to remove like you do with wax. That said i found it less painful to use after waxing as a way of maintaining regrowth. My last epilator was mains operated and noisy I love the fact that I can use it in the privacy of the bathroom – and it makes less noise.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was really nervous about using an epilator as I had one a few years ago and it really hurt!! But after all these years and seeing people try them out on ’10 ways to look to look 10 years younger’ on tv, I thought I’d give it another go and I’m so glad I did! I found this chargeable and water proof epilator to be so easy to use. I tried it out in the bath on my legs and found it remarkably easy and although it was a little uncomfortable, it was perfectly bearable. There was some redness afterwards but after a short while and some moisturiser, it was all gone! I did under my arms as well and that was a bit more painful but in short bursts, I achieved a smooth look. Would highly recommend!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWas easy to hold and use, this is the first epilator I’ve got, first times I used it, I was a little scared from the noise but it hardly hurt on my leg, I did a test. One leg I shaved and the other leg I epilator and I can 100% feel the difference after 1.5 weeks, the leg I epilator still hasn’t grown back and the one I shaver I can start to feel a little bit of stubbles. Would 100% recommend this, but be say make sure you moisture after as my leg felt itchy after but that’s normal as my skin wasn’t used to i

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersAfter nicking my leg badly yet again with a razor I thought I’d give an epilator a go

Braun epilators generally came out as the best available so tried to decide between the Silk-pil 7 or Silk-pil 9 but because the 9 has a larger/wider head I went with the 9 so it’s quicker to use

As soon as I received it I charged it up using the shaver socket in the bathroom and gave it a go on my legs thinking it was going to be very painful but to my surprise it wasn’t that bad at all and got used to the sensation really quickly

After my legs I tried it underarms but that was a little painful but I think that’s because I’d let the hair grow a bit too long so used the trimmer (supplied on the shaver head with the 9-890) to trim the hair shorter and tried again and that was much better

Tonight I thought I’d try it on the intimate area so I again trimmed the hair first (using the handy little bikini trimmer supplied with the 9-890) then used the epilator, it was a little bit painful at first but very soon got used to it and had no problems

I’ve only used it on dry skin but I’m sure it’d be even better, and gentler, if used wet in the bath or shower with warm water

The Silk-pil 9 seems to remove even the shortest hairs no problem, it’s supposed to pluck down to 0.5 mm

I wondered if I’d use all the attachments supplied with the 9-890 but I’ve already used most of them and next I’m going to try it on the face with the facial cap fitted

It’s worth noting that all the Silk-pil 9’s are all the same unit but just supplied with more or less attachments (same goes for the Silk-pil 5’s/7’s etc)

I’d highly recommend you give an epilator a go (especially the Braun’s) as it’s not nearly as bad a sensation as expected, but that might depend on your pain threshold I guess

The Silk-pil 9 was quite expensive (even on offer) but, for me, totally worth the initial outlay as this will get a lot of use

As my title states “I Should Have Purchased One Years Ago!!”

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersI have been using the Braun line since I was 13 years old and I can say that this new version is a much better quality than what I had before.
I am very happy to own this product, and I used it just once, on my forearms as my legs are in their healing period.
Very satisfied with the quality of this epilator, didn’t use it in the shower yet but I will definitely give it a try.
Having updated from a 20 mins battery (Braun Silk Epil 7) to a 50 mins battery is a big plus! Thanking the Universe for that!

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI’ve never used an epilator in the past. I’m really sensitive and I can’t cope with pain very well, so thought it will be a horrible idea to get an epilator, but then – why not? Shaving me legs every 3 days is a nightmare and the idea of having super smooth legs for the whole month was so tempting! I didn’t want anything cheap in case it puts me off using these abd after reading a whole lot of great reviews I’ve decided to get Silk Epil 9.

Please DON’T EVER, EVER believe you’re gonna cry or you need a painkiller before each use. If I am fine – you will be fine as well! It’s deffo not a comfy feeling, but it’s not strong if you’re using it under a hot shower or in the bath. A little light is very useful too, I can see everything I need to get rid of. Shaving my kness is painful but other than that – it’s much better than I thought. It’s gets better after each use – after 3 times it doesn’t bother me at all. Shaver head is a great tool too, I haven’t tried a trimmer yet. I will never go back to traditional shavers.

If you hesitate, then just click “buy now” and see how it goes. You won’t regret!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve only used the epilator once so far so I can’t yet say how long the hair stays away but as things stand, I can’t see myself returning to shaving. I do still have some really short, fine hairs that weren’t picked up but from what I’ve read, I believe these will reduce after regular use and my legs are still far smoother than two days after shaving would have been.

For those of you on the fence about whether to try epilating because you’ve seen lots of YouTube clips of people shouting out in pain, I personally didn’t find it half as bad as it looked and the more I used it, the less painful it got. I did find it a little more sensitive and more difficult to manoeuvre under my armpits but it didn’t take long to get used to it and I found the results are worth it.

Unfortunately, there was a fault with the razor head accessory on mine but I’m sure this is a one off and not something to judge the overall product by and Amazon arranged a full, prompt refund with no quibbles so even if you are unlucky to get a faulty product you’ll hopefully receive the same helpful service as me. It’s not going to deter me from purchasing the same product again.

Hopefully you’ll find this review helpful, if I receive any questions I’ll be happy to answer.
