Brought this for labelling network kit, it’s so quick to produce labels which I can print out in various sizes to suit. The app is really easy to use and you have wide choice of fonts and it will even print jpegs. The unit feels well made. I know some have mentioned the way it cuts off a small piece of tape before it prints the label but it’s only a small bit and I think it does this to align the tape and I don’t find that an issue. I purchased some compatible cartridges and they work really well and are very reasonably priced. If you need to print labels then this will do the job. Very impressed

Nice neat little unit. Works fine with MacOS Monterey. I run it on batteries and prints fine. Only dislike is that it trims the lapels with a bit of waste but you can queue up labels in the app if needed.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGreat little machine, but the one downside is the 25mm of wasted label material each time you print a label costing an average of 4p in material each time. Also it’s not very Environmentally friendly to waste this plastic material each time. Have searched the internet but can’t find a setting to stop this otherwise I would have given full stars

    Great printer with minor downside

Excellent products and will buy again. The White and Clear are indistinguishable from the original tapes and represent unbeatable value. I have an original 24mm sample tape in white and I cannot notice any difference between this and the 12mm white / clear non original tapes.

The Yellow doesn’t seem to print quite as clearly as the other two, but is non the less still very good. A perfect yellow tape would make these 5 stars.

Having said that, for the price I’d absolutely buy they again.

Good quality print. Easy to use once set up. Compact and can handle different fonts sizes and can print continuously or individual labels. Would buy again.

Good print quality, pairs easily with multiple devices, automatic cutter works well and supplied with sample 24mm tape.

Can’t comment on battery life yet as haven’t used it a great deal.

Mobile App gets pretty poor reviews although personally I think it’s good, straightforward to use, decent choice of symbols etc and can save and recall previous labels. Windows software however could do with a little update, works well enough, just a bit dated.

Great little printer, portable and lightweight. Holds charge for a long time. The app it works with could use a bit of an update but once you play around with it, it becomes a bit clearer. The desktop version allows for more styles. Printer looks great and prints with no issues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, must buy for organising!

This is an outdated product. It uses an outdated software and a old usb interface. I guess that brother is moving on to Bluetooth.
However besides being supplied with out of date drivers, support is relatively easy to go through – although you must be computer literate to be able to get there.
It prints labels in ANY TT FONT on your computer. WYSIWYG. I have tested Cyrillic which works really well. Dont know any other writing systems, however if you need to print labels in a language that uses Cyrillic, this is (at the moment) the cheapest option in the market for thick labels.

Great apart from the fact that it annoyingly trims off about an inch of tape before printing a label. This must waste a few feet of tape of every cartridge – which are not cheap. Would be useful to set times for the printer to be on so that it doesn’t auto shut off half way through the day. Minor grumble though. We prefer this version to the BT710 model as it connects to the wifi so multiple staff can use just like a normal network printer.

A little more expensive than the handheld label tape printers, but so much more functionality.

Software is very easy to use, and it’s simplicity itself to add logos and graphics onto the labels too.

I was going to go with the handheld versions but liked the idea of having a printer my wife and I can easily access with Bluetooth. So far we loving it, changing label cassets is easy and ability to type on your phone and print makes it very easy to use.

This is great to have as it does what its supposed to.
The only downside is that it didn’t me that I had to buy the special cartridge if I wanted to print on ribbon, which was another expense. I assumed that you could use ordinary ribbon that you feed through and it will print for you. This is not the case for this machine. There is a special ribbon cartridge that you have to purchase.

Excellent little printer. Works fine with all tape types so far. The onboard software is less user friendly than the desktop version. (Free download from Brother website). That said if you are only after basic labelling it and do not want anything fancy it will be fine as is.

Bought this for work as I regularly need to make new labels and markings and it’s been a great help. Being able to store label designs in the app is very useful too. Only complaint is that the supplied 24mm tape cartridge tore itself up inside the printer. Everything else works fine but had to throw out almost a whole cartridge

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWith the tedium of lockdown dragging on I decided that I need to declutter and organise myself and this printer has proved to be invaluable. The PC interface enables you to print in a range of different font sizes and to incorporate graphics, resulting in ‘professional’ quality labels. I was particularly attracted to this model as the PC app is much easier to use than a device with a built in screen (as long as you don’t need to label on the move) and it takes a wide range of tape widths.

A huge range of different tape and text colours are available and I have used it with both Brother and (much cheaper) third party tapes, with great results. I’ve used it to label a huge variety of things around the house including files, lunch boxes, cables and plugs, plant pots and much more – the labels have so far stood up well to the weather and repeated washing and wear and tear.

    Highly recommended.

Expensive but a great little printer. A lot larger than I thought but not a problem as it isn’t unwieldy. Both iPhone apps are a doddle to use. Battery lasts ages with the bonus of not having to buy six AA every couple of days.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI thought the setup was a little long winded, until I actually got to play with what Brother had downloaded and installed. The printer drivers include Bluetooth and the USB connection. It charges either via the USB port or you use your phone charger. The labels are created via an app on your tablet, smartphone or your PC/Mac. The software is packed full of templates and I was really pleased with the results. The sample So you can edit/design your labels and send them to the printer. As this has a lithium battery in it you don’t need any extra power leads to print. The roll of tape is high quality and it is great that you can use the smaller tapes [eg 6mm, 9mm, 12mm,, 18mm and the 24mm tape]. Like all other P-Touch labels the printed item is laminated so they are very weather resistant and the tapes are an easy swap. I am so pleased to have the product and it is overall great value for money. Highly Recommended. Andrew

The only dislike is the leading piece of tape that is wasted with every print job. Depending on your label length you could be losing up to 30% of your tape due to this feature that cannot be changed or altered.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersUse it for labelling microfuge tubes in the lab and it is great for that purpose. Would not want to use it for high volume printing, as app is not very good and printing takes a while. Also wastes a little bit of tape each time it prints, not sure why. Bluetooth connection works well and the labels and print withstands -80C freezer storage, as well as placement in icce buckets.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersI bought myself a new fridge/freezer and decided that it was time to actually write on when I opened perishable food and for cooking batched items what the food was in the fridge/freezer as I like to move my perishable food across into a container and because I work in retail I don’t like wasting food. After looking between writing labels and a label maker, I decided to take the plunge and buy one. I’ve not regretted it. The app is easy to use, I can save labels that I make or are premade if you look through the label list, which makes it easier as all I need to do it just select what I need to print and away I stick. It is a bit expensive but I’m ok with that as it connects to my phone.
It took me a while to play around with the label sizing and finding the right one for me. But I’ve used it for other items so gone a bit label mad as times gone on. It has really made my fridge/freezer organised, and made me a bit more self aware of when I need to eat my food up by. I’m not really good at the sniff test as it makes me gag. I did use the sample up within 2 weeks but like I said. I had a lot of trial and error with size, so hopefully will last me longer on my current one. There’s also different types of tape colours which is going to be handy for presents this year.

    Bought for use by dates

Perfect for your OCD fetish of labelling EVERYTHING. Really easy to use with the Brother software and different printing tape. My daughter will no longer have excuses for putting things in the wrong place . I bought compatible tape rather than the Brother tape and the quality was great.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersI have many brother label printers and this is the best one for narrow labels (up to 24mm). The cartridges make laminated labels which means the printed part is below a clear layer and the layers are joined in the cartridge at time of printing. This is much better than the TZ type of label which are just one layer. The drawback is that print head and lamination roller are about 2cm apart which means you cannot print less than 2cm from the end of the label. My old ptouch printer had a manual cut button which meant the label always had 2cm white space at one end. This printer has an electric cutter which means it can cut off the 2cm part, so the label itself looks nice with no wasted space but there will be a 2cm offcut for each label printed. This P700 will not “half cut” which means the 2cm part is still attached to the label via the backing, instead the P700 totally cuts off a small blank 2cm label each time you print.
Otherwise the software is great and there is a good choice of original and “compatible” labels available. I’ve made professional looking labels for my fuse box, cables, binders, kitchen appliances. It’s so handy.
    *updated Nov 2019*
I removed one star because some old brother TZ cartridges would not fit even though at first they look identical. This modern TZe label printer can only use TZe cartridges. Older TZ label printers can use TZ and TZe cartridges. The explanations on the internet normally say the label is the same, just different packaging using less plastic. I took this to mean the packaging the cartridge comes in but it also means the plastic box the cartridge is made of. There is an extra hole on the new cartridge and the label size sense holes are in a different place. In the photo you can see the difference between new TZe printer and old TZ printer. If you have lots of old label cartridges then they might not fit in this printer.

excellent label printer - not compatible with old tapes

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our Usersice machine apart from the p touch lite label package wasting tape before and after print. Which i found weird as company has a p-touch but only wastes a bit at front went to brother site download full label package from there you will need serial number off Print to download.
Now only wasting one bit of tape as you can see from the image above but you do have to download driver as well and switch off the Plite to get it to work

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersYou get what you pay for, and while this is more expensive than a standalone one with its own LCD display it is head and shoulders above any of them. WYSIWYG, so no trial and error, nice simple App, and awesome print quality.
So glad I spent the extra and got this Bluetooth one.
I have an iPhone 8 Plus running iOS 12.x, and an iPad Pro running iOS 12.x and it works perfectlyon both.
Super simple set up. I didn’t even read the instructions.

The printer works as expected and produces high quality labels. However, the machine is very wasteful and prints approximately 1cm of blank tape between each label. This will definitely push up the frequency at which tape will have to be replenished.

This printer is great. I’ve owned other brother label printers where you have to input text on the machine but the app and use of phone and WiFi on this printer is so much better. Loads of options and usful tools such as inserting images. Another plus is the ability to save labels as templates to use and customise multiple times, saving time and effort.

I wanted for long time and I don’t regret. the half cut option saved a lot of lables ribbon, but you need to navegate on the software to set it up. Also the software in Mac is not as good as the software for PC

Excellent little printer. Very easy to set up all of a couple of mins. Software takes a little getting used to but nothing over complicated that any beginner can use. Printing is fast and clear. Am using labels outside for plant identification at nursery so far so good will have to wait and see the results after the summer.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis arrived at lunchtime today and is already set-up and printing labels nicely. It loses a star for the most essential part of the instructions being unclear. For a straight forward setup follow all the instructions (steps 1-5) for connecting to a PC or Mac first (even if like me you bought it to use with your iPhone and iPad). The step 6 instruction vaguely gives a link and looks like it is optional. It should say that you must go to this link and follow all of the instructions to the letter to download and install the software-during this setup all of the wireless network connectivity is sorted. At one point in the instructions it tells you to select your printer name +CUPS -this meant not selecting ‘AirPrint ‘ on my Mac ( which worried me) however I did as instructed and needn’t have worried. When I came to select the printer in the iPrint & Label app on my iPad it found it automatically because of the setup done through the Mac or PC. I have included a photo of the screen on the computer ‘click the start here’ icon after the download has been done and opened I hope this makes folks installation less confusing. Anyway I thought the Mac label software was a bit clunky but now happily printing pretty labels from the better iPrint & Label app on my iPad using my own images which I’m very happy about.

Works nicely but instructions need some work....

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAbsolutely brilliant bit of kit. Works perfectly and looks pretty cool on my black themed desk. Even if using it right next to the PC as I am, the fact that it’s wifi saves yet another cable from the desk.

I found setup for wifi very easy despite other comments. I didn’t use WPS, just followed the instructions for installing it without. You just connect it via the supplied USB cable initially, then the software uses this connection to set it up for connecting via wifi. It’s all automatic, all you need to know is the name of the network and the password – it sorts out everything else automatically. Then disconnect the USB cable, leaving it connected to the wifi network ready for use by as many other computers as you like. Once it’s setup, you can just skip all the USB steps on further computers and the installer will find it straight away.

I’m not usually the type to suffer from brand loyalty, but I now have two Brother laser printers plus this and a Brother paper thermal label printer too for running my small business. They’ve all been faultlessly reliable over the years I’ve had them, so they are now my brand of choice, in fact I wouldn’t bother looking at the alternatives.

Having said that, I’m far from the ideal loyal customer as I find that the equivalent unbranded labels are every bit as good as the branded ones but cost a fraction of the price.

have used a similar label machine before and this meets my expectations easily. Easy to use and lots of available tape types. like the fact it can be wifi compatible, as i now currently use it and if you want also powered by battery which i do not use. the only downside is the wasted tape when you print a 1 off label but thats how it works to cut thetape. better if you are printing many labels as you do not get the waste.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI was reluctant to spend over 50 on a dedicated label printer but now I’m glad I did; it’s an excellent device.. The risk of getting labels stuck in my laser printer has been reduced and I will no longer have to fiddle about with a laminator. You can currently buy P-touch compatible cartridges for about a third of the cost of the originals. This reduces the cost of tape for a one off address label to about 3p and smaller labels to less than 1p each.

The printer and P-touch Editor software works with Windows 10 as well as the other operating systems listed. The full version P-touch Editor software is needed if you want to merge data – it connects to a wide range of flat files, MSAccess and MSSQL server. The Android app provides a quick and convenient way to print labels without firing up a computer.

I struggled to register the device on the Brother website because the stock had been at the distributor for more than 6 months. A quick email to their excellent customer service department resolved this. The printer has a 3 year return to base warranty – they must be confident!

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our Users(No, I’m not getting paid by anyone to say this – it just seems to be the perfect answer to labelling!) This is a brilliant little label printer, rather undersold on Amazon and on the manufacturer’s website. Had it been more clearly explained I would have bought it without a thought. I decided to take a chance and I’m glad I did..
It can print on label tapes of several widths, the widest being 24mm. Different label tapes are available for printing black on white and several colours, white on black, black or white on transparent labels. The cartridges are simple to slot in and out so you can easily make just one off of a number of different sizes, formats and colours. I found it easy to install and get working with my iMac, and the downloadable App is cleverly designed so you can use different fonts, styles and sizes, plus barcodes, images and borders. You can produce multi-line type (within the depth confines of the label tape you are using). The only thing I haven’t yet found is how to adjust the line spacing, but it’s not a big problem. The labels seem to be encapsulated in clear plastic so should be durable and waterproof. Some reviewers criticise because it wastes half an inch of label tape each time, but I suspect this is essential for the way it works, and it does give scored tab which makes it really easy to peel off the backing. Apart from that it only uses the required amount for the longest line on your label. Multi lines can be centred or justified left or right.
Uses so far – for sticking onto plastic plant labels, bottle and jar labels, cables and pipe identification. Perfect around the office, kitchen, garage, workshop etc. Just brilliant!

Printing from my iPhone and having such a great range of typefaces is perfect for me. I have used a few of the portable Brother printers and this is by far the best one. My only issue with it is that the printer does not use the entire height of the label and there is a gap on the top and bottom.

Being able to print logos, photos, barcodes, etc is a really nice touch and perfect for any small business or for the organised individual.

I use this with both my iPhone and my mac and they work perfectly. The iPhone is perfect for when I need to print something quickly but I can really customise the label on the computer for those special products.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGot to replace a Dymo that died after 7 months. Happy so far. Handy to be able to print from my iPhone as well as Macbook

Instructions are not very good. After searching online for a while managed to get it setup with my Airport using WPS.

I do wonder why it has to waste almost an inch of tape before each print. Quality of labels better than the Dymo I had before though (think because they get laminated)
