It’s definitely a carhart jacket. It’s tough at first but it’ll get better with the use, it’s warm and really comfortable, order a size smaller, I’m 5’7″ 175lb and regularly am a size large but thanks to reviews and Amazon recommendations I ordered medium and was a perfect fit.

Perfect jacket. Pretty warm, I can wear it from 10 to -10 Celsius. Very stiff and good quality

Ok so I read a lot of reviews that say go down a size . I’m 5’8″ 245 pounds and was debating on going for the large or xl, my j130 carhartt active jacket is a xl and it’s a loose fit so I went with the xl in the chore . I got it and found it a little baggy but I washed it in warm water and dried it , it fits very similar to the active jacket and I’m happy I didn’t size down to the large

Great chore coat for the money. Have used it to work in for several months now and it’s holding up well. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good coat to abuse.

    Magnifique veste

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our Usershis is a great coat, I’m 6ft, 200lbs, and I followed advice of others on here, and ordered a Medium ( I usually wear a large in the carhartt hooded coats.)

Fit was perfect. It comes stiff, but I just kept wearing it and it broke in fairly quickly.

The coat hangs to just a tiny bit above the middle of my thigh.

I am thoroughly impressed with this coat.. It is my new favorite, even above my sherpa lined carhartt.

I’m usually an XL to Large. Started at a large, then a medium, ended up in a small.

To me, overriding is something I can do myself. Just fit true-to-size and I’ll size up. There’s no need to make me guess what a size actually is. Also, I’m not looking for extra long sleeves when I do oversizing. I’m not a 14 year old emo girl. So IF you’re going to pre-oversize, at least do it the right way.

The small size fits me well. I’m 5’10”, 200lbs

The metal fasteners are really hard to get into the eyelets of the material. My thumbs are a little arthritic and it was compounded. It’s too bad they couldn’t have thrown a zipper on it. As with most Carhartt clothing, they run one size too large so I’d recommend sizing dow

I’m 6’3 and 315 lbs and a 2xlt for me perfect. 2 XLT is my normal size is t shirts. I usually go up a size in jackets, but you don’t need to for this one. Fits perfect.

We purchase a lot of men’s brands. Remember when you order if you are a true XL, order that. Their clothes fit the American male. We ordered too big, then found out their stuff fits your size. We exchanged it and love it.

This is a great coat. It’s a Carhartt so you know quality is top notch, Very heavy duty, very warm…been wearing it in 5 & 10 degree weather.
Stiff when you get it, but wash it twice before wearing it and it’s much better.
Can’t beat it for the money….would definitely recommend and would buy again.

I was looking for an everyday coat to wear with my bibs and found this chore coat. I sized up and have plenty of room for a big hoodie underneath. If you are looking to wear just the coat.. buy your exact size!

Over all it is a great Carhartt jacket. But very stiff and needs lots of break in. Fit was one size to big for. I am 5foot 9 inches tall. 30 inch I seem. 295 lbs. with a big gut. I ordered a 2XL like my lighter Carhartt jacket and this one was 1 size to big while wearing and undershirt and some what thick warm long sleeve winter shirt. I suppose with the lighter Carhartt jacket underneath it would have fit fine but that’s to warm for my climate.

This is my husband’s third coat like this, to sure in how many years but he loves it and it’s all he wears for most of the year. The last one started to fall apart at the seams when I washed it and then I stitched it back together the best I could until I ordered this one for Christmas.

It’s a workjacket. I do a lot of welding and hot work. I would like to be able to afford the FR but literally you would have to make at least 6 figures a year. And being the person I am I have kids and I cannot afford to keep myself safe and provide for my family. It would be nice if one of these companies would produce something that your average person could buy to actually stay safe at work.

First I ordered a XXL TALL.. The size was correct however I was 6-2 and am now 6-1.. The sleeves were too long following the “tall” description. As I can return that coat, I ordered the XXL, and it arrived today. It is a perfect fit and I am very happy with my purchase.
The coat is perfect for a TEXAS FALL/WINTER. Being a #2 for cold it’s perfect, for Montana or Idaho I would order a lower rating considering the freezing temperature!

    Ciao a tutti
    Consiglio l’acquisto.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis coat is MUCH better looking in person rather than a stick thin model wearing it buttoned up to his next, if you want a more realistic picture, this is the newer model of the coat Jeremy renner wore in wind river with the brown hoodie underneath. Definitely downsize it as it’s quite big. I’m 5’11” 200 pounds and normally wear large shirts so I ordered a medium. The sleeves were seemingly too long but after running it through a couple wash cycles and the dryer the sleeves shrank to the perfect length. Couldn’t be happier with this coa

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersIf you’re like me, then you’re 6’3 and woke up 171 lbs, this jacket in an xl tall, has been the 3rd best jacket purchase I’ve made in my life, and best one this year, it feels like a trench coat, but it’s got that rugged old west vibe to it, probably because this jacket was designed in 1896, and if it ain’t broke, if you want a trench coat feel with a hoodie underneath, get your “bigger” size in a tall

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersMy 30 year old carhartt “barn coat” became dangerous to wear running a chainsaw. The edges were frayed to a point where the saw chain might grab onto it and with me in it. So, it was time to upgrade to this new one. Nobody wants to see a jacket, so war torn. Just imagine it. It is like an old friend that I won’t completely get rid of. The longer these jackets wear the better they feel. Performance is job one. And this new one will be well worn over the next 30 years. Even if it is a hand me down to someone who will enjoy this jacket as much as I have. Can’t go wrong. Worth it at twice the price.

Size description is famously too big, needs fixing by vendor. This is a well known problem!

Overall a solid jacket! When it came, it wasn’t entirely what I expected. The fabric is very thick and bulky (as expected) but for a size Medium, it fits at least as a men’s large for its roominess as well as body length and sleeve length. When I first put it on I felt that I was putting on a jacket that fits like a fireman’s jacket. After a few minutes, I realized it was kinda awesome. I live in SF and took it on my windy roof for a test and realized a fantastic purchase. I recommend it if you’re looking for a thick warm large fitting coat.

Quality product. Lovely and warm but not too warm.
Fits big. I ordered a size down from what I am normally for chest size.
    Very heavy duty material.
    I love it!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersFor what other companies are charging for their chore coats and the value you actually get, I don’t think you can beat Carhartt. This thing is built extremely tough and rugged. After reading reviews that said the size runs big, I ordered a size smaller. Normally I wear a XXL Tall and ordered a XL Tall and with a heavy flannel shirt and t-shirt underneath I still have plenty of room to work. I just wish there were more colors to choose from. A tip for those who don’t like the stiffness of a new Carhartt; put your new jacket or coat in the clothes dryer with a couple of baseballs 60-90 minutes. Softens it right up. Just don’t let wife know or put those baseballs where you never thought they would fit!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI usually buy a medium in everything, but I bought a small from reading reviews. I’m 5′ 9″, 155 lbs. it fits like a size 38 jacket would. The cotton duck is very stiff, I washed it in cold water, and line dried it. It loosened up the jacket a little, but even washing it in cold and line drying it, it did shrink a little in the sleeves. Which is ok because the sleeves were a little long. It still fits ok now, with room for a sweatshirt, that being said, with the sweatshirt on it’s snug. If you want to layer underneath, I’d go with your normal size, and if it’s still too big washing it in hot water and drying it on high would probably shrink it more.

I ordered a M, I’m 5’7” and about a 34″ waist. It feels slightly loose over a thin shirt but with a jumper it fits perfectly. The coat feels quite warm, and very tough. It should last for many years. I sprayed it with some waterproofing spray for canvas, and that seems to work. I like the idea that I can put it in the washing machine at 30 degrees, and it it comes out fine. It improves with age and a bit of wear.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIf you want a fit like the products picture, then order a smaller size. Im 5’7″ with a slim build and got a small. Results… it fits like a glove. A smidge of tightness for the torso, but the real tightness comes in the arm sleeves. So forget wearing a sleeved sweat shirt.

I’ve been living in S. California my whole life and whimper at the cold. My recent cold weather has been in the low 30’s at late night and this jacket blocked the cold, buttoned or unbuttoned. If you need or want extra warmth a vest will pair fine with this coat. Looks great, and contrary to my sleeve description… they are roomy; minus a ‘heavy’ long sleeved shirt. My advise, push the purchase button if you’ve been eyeing this jacket. You wont regret it!!

Es simplemente espectacular, queda bien con todo, abriga y no se va a rasgar con el minimo, me gustara destacar la botonera, se ve de espectacular calidad, algo mas incomodo que la cremallera pero con la seguridad de que no se va a romper a la mnima.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI recently got a Detroit jacket with optional hood, and since the Chore Coat uses the same hood I decided to purchase it too. Also more importantly because, since my Detroit (in Small, regular fit) fits me perfectly if a bit snug (not much room for layering) I hoped that the Chore Coat, (being ‘loose fit’), would have left room for layering, hence maybe usable in winter. I was not disappointed and in fact the two garments fit the same except for the ‘body’ which is noticeable roomier (sleeves are slightly shorter though). I am a slim build 176cm 38.5″ chest 69Kg and the coats fits me a bit large in a tee but perfect with a sweater + down jacket underneath. Layering is required in winter since this coat is NOT warm.
I see many buyers complaining about the size (i.e. fits large, which it does) so here are my measurements for size S (garment laid flat): Pit to pit 21″, pit to cuff 21″, collar to hem 30″ (rear) 27″ (front), shoulders 18.5″, hip/waist slightly tapered from 22″ at the gut to 21.5″ at the bottom hem. Overall I am quite happy, except I would have preferred a warmer coat (eg sherpa lined). Also, the shiny golden buttons look cheap and tacky so I have replaced them with sew-on horn buttons (photo, with optional hood which I also recommend).

    Pretty good

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI’ve had this jacket for about a week now and it’s definitely one of my favorites. The quality and construction is very solid and seems very durable. The jacket is extremely stiff even after washing but should soften up with age. The only reason for one star off is the fit.

I’m 5’8″ 150lbs with a 31″ waist and a slim athletic build. I ordered the small and based off of the reviews I knew it would be a bit big, as well as a relaxed fit. Sure enough the jacket was quite large in the shoulders and a bit too long in the arms. I washed the jacket in hot and dried hot for a while to shrink the jacket. The jacket shrunk enough where it looked a lot better but it didn’t shrink evenly. The arms are about 1cm too long and the shoulders were still a bit big but we’re fine. The length is prefect but seems to be tighter around the waist. Buttoned up there’s plenty of room to move the arms without tightness but the waist is snug. Wearing jeans and a hoodie underneath is ok but a little tight for bending or squating.

Id say if you’re skinny or shorter than I am the jacket will look way too big but the small would be good for someone with broad shoulders and about 5’9″ to 6″0

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFreakin epic jacket, but Definitely downsize atleast a size. I’m a medium in just about everything I wear and even the small is a bit spacious on top of just a t shirt. But with a jumper on it’s perfect. The arms are more of a looser fit aswell.

After reading other reviews I seen the common mention of the coat running large. I’m normally a large so I ordered a medium and it fits perfect. I’ll be using the coat mainly in my workshop which is cold in the wintertime so I still have room to layer up with the coat and to move freely. The coat is awesome. Really warm, really well made and looks great. It’s stiff material but not as stiff as I expected or even as it looks in the pic but for a coat like this I want it to be able to take plenty of abuse. Super coat, really fast delivery and better price than other sites (even carhartt site)
