It seems like a good quality item, that hopefully I will never have need to give a practical review about! Look like it will stand some punishment.

Want a secure box to make sure if the worst happens important documents don’t get damaged. Didi some searching but a lot of these seem to be exactly A4 size leaving little additional space if the documents were in a folder. This one looked like it had some additional space so at least the documents could also be in a folder and/or sturdy envelope and can confirm it does. As for its fire proof qualities it certainly looks the business but hope I never have to find out it truly is

I can’t speak for water tightness and have no wish to put to test buy this is a sturdy product that meets my needs. The lock is hardly high security but as box is portable, not suitable as a strong box safe.

    Good size inside. Some reminder.

    – Do not forget to air the box and put some silica packs to avoid moulding.
    – Store the box on its bottom, not like a suitcase on the short side. (Like the lid opens up, like a chest) Only this way will ensure full protection.
    – Make notes on the included manual about the key number and the product number for replacement keys. Keep this info somewhere else, not in the box.

I tried to avoid using the keys as they give no security from a theft perspective, but you cannot remove the key in open position and the key lock add to the sealed lock.
The click on closing mechanism are plastic, so yeah, lets use the lock too.

The box is heavy. I put it in the bottom of a wardrob. I would not dare to test any of my shelves with this box.

This is a heavy and sturdy item. It’s solid and the lock is not the best but if you want it to protect important documents etc in the event of a fire it will be perfect.

Smaller on the inside then I expected and have been airing each month to prevent the damp build up

Excellent purchase for those must be kept secure documents or personal papers, I don’t think it would suit business unless it was bigger but personal is grea

Seems a very sturdy case, unexpectedly weighty. Obviously I can’t comment on the fireproof and waterproof features but I expect it to be ok. I am happy with the purchase.

This box is extremely tough and should serve it’s purpose well. Only downside with mine is it’s a little tricky to open and close with the key. I’m hoping it just needs a little opening and closing to loosen the mechanism, if not I may need to return. Overall though fantastic, heavy duty safe!

This box is seriously heavy. And to stop water ingress needs to be stored flat which needs to be a consideration when purchasing. It’s also quite bulky in order to give it the protection it affords to your contents. On the upside anyone pinching it wouldn’t get too far as they’d be knackered. May be worth lashing down using a motorbike anchor if you want to be really secure.

The box is well built, heavy and sturdy.
It only just fits A4 paper. If A4 documents are in plastic folders for instance, they will curl. An extra centimetre would have been ideal.
I haven’t had a fire or flood in order to properly test the effectiveness (and don’t want one) but I feel more confident that my important documents are more secure than they otherwise would have been.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve had a fireproof box from this company before (20 years ago) and was expecting this one to be similar.

It’s nothing like the old one

It is sturdy, solid, feels bullet proof and built like a tank, reminds one of a “brick outhouse” and if you were daft enough to drop it on a foot then good luck not having broken bones. Yes, it really is exceptionally heavy – that will be the fireproof lining then . We are using it for backup external drives and as other reviewers have suggested, it lives near the main exit door of the house so that it could be grabbed in an emergency.

With so much of our lives now stored digitally, this feels like a good investment to protect the backup discs.

It’s very good for protecting documents, although it’s precisely wide enough for A4 docs, you can’t have them in any kind of protective sheet or envelope or they won’t lie flat. Would have been much better to make it just an inch wider! But it’s sturdy and heavy. It’s not a safe, but it does have a locking handle and it’s heavy enough so that a casual thief is unlikely to pick it up. But it is primarily a fire safe and it looks and feels like it would do an excellent job. Hope to never find out!

I put a previous review on regarding this item and I need to update it. Yes we had a problem with the item but it has been repaired. We contacted the supplier and visited them with the item. It was repaired in 15 minutes and, hopefully, we can now continue to use it.

Really well made obviously I haven’t placed it in an inferno as yet. However have seen video of people that have deliberatly shock tested them & it seems to hold up well. My dear old mum doesn’t trust banks & keeps a ridiculous amount of ready cash around she requested if I could find something fireproof to keep her ready cash & deeds useable. After much deliberation I selected this item . She was very pleased & assures me me that this item is the bomb !

    Great quality and seriously heavy-duty.
This thing ways a ton, way heavier than I expected. “Reminder to straiten your back, bend your knees and lift from your legs” ha ha ha.
Delivery arrived via DHL 2 days after order which was great seeing as I was first expecting it 7 days from order. Haven’t had the chance to test it by throwing it in fire or water yet as I only just received it but it definitely looks like it will do the job perfectly.

It’s big and heavy, very robust indeed. A nice handle makes it easyJet to carry or when laid on the side has 2 indentations at the bottom to allow for easily slipping your fingers under and lifting it it with both hands. Easily fits A4 documents without folding as well as other items. I’d say the inside space is about the side of 1 + 1/2 ream of paper. It looks like it will hold up really well and price seems reasonable.
    Overall really happy with.

This is a good heavy box which looks strong enough to keep my vital documents safe. My only gripe is that it would be useful if it was a little bit over A4 size so I could put folders containing A4 papers inside. As it is, A4 fits very tightly inside.

Good quality lock poor quality key.
The plastic has snapped on the first key within about a month or so being on my keychain.
It’s only a small key and a better lock and key would be better.
Overall I am pleased with the safe.
Suits my needs for important documents.

This is a HEAVY duty piece of kit for the protection of a4 docs you can’t afford to lose. It very heavy, with oversized clasp fastenings. The device is opened with the keys in the lock. It’s locked when rotating and removal of the key. There are two keys and make a copy of the number in the safe is to be copied securely in case you lose both of these keys. It does say opening the document safe every month to stop papers going mouldy with trapped humidity. This can cope with extream heat and water protection to an impressive level. It’s over-engineered but in a good way. its a fair price and it came quickly to our house.

I had an issue with the locking mechanism of this deed safe, but eventually found their contact details and proved a great help. Youtube has a video on how to EASILY repair this locking issue.

Bought this to keep some important documents and money safe, not a massive fan but it is good value for money… The durability just seems a bit weak but I could be wrong. I’ve had stronger ones in the past but they were small so unsure if it’s because this one is quite big but who knows, I would recommend as price is good for what it is…

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersThis thing is an absolute beast. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s bomb proof.

As other users have said, it is very heavy but the handle makes it easier to move around and I think most grown men/women would be able to lift it without too much trouble.

A4 paper fits in well but I wish it was a tiny bit bigger so all A4 papers could sit completely flat. With the way it is, A4 edges will curl ever so slightly up on the edges of the inside of the box. But if, like me, you only have a hand full of documents that you want to keep safely together in one place, this is a very good solution.

I don’t rate the lock much (reckon it could easily be picked by someone experienced in that) but it’s good enough to stop kids, nosey guests etc having a peek.

    EDIT:

Forgot to add, a fairly generous sized pouch of the silica stuff was included which is a bonus as you don’t have to buy it separately or wait for your next pair of shoes.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersFor a box to store all our valuable documents safe from fire (and water from the fire brigade) this is an ideal solution for most households. It is NOT a Safe though and not intended to be. It is securely locked to avoid prying eyes but a burglar would have not problem breaking into the box.
The box is big enough inside for A4 documents and deep enough for a great many other valuable documents like passports, birth and marriage certificates and Wills, etc. The box is bigger than expected outside as the surrounding box is quite thick and made of a tough plastic. It is surprisingly heavy, as if it is lead lined, but you would not be carrying it around much.
When I told friends about it they admitted they kept essential documents safe in silly places like the loft! Once I had Wills and legal documents to protect I looked for a safe box and this meets all my requirements. As it is not intended to be a Safe, I have attached the key by a metal chain to the case so it can be opened after any fire occurs.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis thing is plenty big enough for some wills and important documents and some bits and bobs. The important thing to remember here is that it’s not a safe. It’s a fire and waterproof box so the lock is very simple. A couple of reviewers have said that the key broke in the lock with no force. I just don’t know how they could have done that. The key is fine, like any other padlock type key. You cannot take the key out of the lock until it is in the locked position. The instructions are pretty clear so I can only assume that people didn’t know this and tried to wrench the key round. One thing – it weighs a ton (well 10kg to be exact) so be aware of that if you have difficulty lifting things.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSolid, exactly as described, and looks as though it would do the job well if needed (though hopefully it won’t be!). Several reservations that have been expressed suggest the details were not read – yes its heavy, it says so; yes it takes documents only a little larger than A4, it says so; yes it’s designed to take papers not magnetic media etc., it says so; yes the lock is not designed to make it function as a safe, it doesn’t claim to. I recommend it.

The longer I have this box the more I like it. It is heavy (and sturdily built) and one can believe that it will survive a house fire – I have not tested it though. I believe too that it keeps the contents dry when subjected to fire-hose dousing of house fire. I see negative comments relating to the “flimsy” handle. Well, it is adequate – there is no chance it would break whilst carrying the box. Why over-spec it and make it stronger – it would make no difference to protecting the contents of the box yet make it more expensive. I don’t use the handle – it stays in one room in my house. The lock is not as sturdy as some would like it but, think about it, why over-spec the lock? If the box was stolen the thief could get into it even if the lock was of the sturdiest build – sure, it would take her a little longer to get in, but she would get in in the end, even if it meant using the services of a locksmith. If you want to prevent loss by theft, you should rather get a built-in safe. This box protects against fire and flooding. It will not protect against theft. And this is one area where it might be improved – a sturdy ring to which one could attach a chain might offer some resistance to theft. If it is protection against fire and flooding you want, you will be safe with this box. Good value at its price.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI wanted a box to keep irreplaceable stuff in, like deeds, covenants etc, the kind of docs that it would be a pain to replace. For this purpose, I reckon this box is pretty good and a reasonable price too. Other offerings reportedly don’t take A4 docs, or are not waterproof (important in a fire assuming the fire brigade turn up!).
Having a handle is a good idea and it will become a ‘grab and run’ item in this house if we ever have to evacuate.
But it’s no ‘security’ box, is it, especially as anyone else can pick it up and run off with it to open at their leisure! If they do with mine, well, the stuff inside will be of no value to them.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMy title refers to the fire and waterproof aspect. I hope I never had to report that that actually works. I am when writing this review assuming that it does.

The box itself is perfect for popping your deeds into, passport, insurance docs etc. You won’t have room for files – just the paperwork.

One thing about this box which I’ve noticed people moan about is the weight of it. It’s damn heavy but if I were a burgler I’d think twice about running off with this thing lol. Simply put it in a place that you can easily access it so you don’t have to keep moving it around.

I think this item is pretty good

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersChose this item as it looked much sturdier than others on website. Wasn’t disappointed. It is a strong heavy box which certainly looks as though it will offer maximum protection. It will not house A4 documents in envelopes without some curvature. However if documents are removed they fit fine. All my important documents are now stored in safe fireproof and waterproof environment. Item was not bought for security reasons so the absence of any method to secure it to floor is irrelevant. A previous review stated that the box was heavy and would need to be placed close to any escape route in the event of a fire. However the whole purpose of this box is to prevent the loss of important documentation or precious belongings and I for one would not be wasting time dragging a heavy box out of the house if a fire occurred. I would rather return and retrieve the box and contents after the fire is extinguished !!!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis deed box looks to be of good quality and, short of setting fire to it, up to the job. The key is required for the waterproofing to work and it needs to be locked before you can remove the key, but would hardly add to the security. The handle might be a weak point if you are lugging it around a lot. It is quite heavy. This is probably a consequence of the insulation required to make it fireproof. The internal rubber seal on the box is quite stiff and small in profile so not likely to wear. Inside there is ample space and an A4 sheet fits nicely with rather more space at the top and bottom of the pages.

All round, for the quite reasonable price, I found nothing to complain about. Recommended.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThe product was delivered in good condition and in original packaging. This is a heavy piece of kit so best left not too far from your escape route. As a burglar proof safe it has little to reccomend it, but that is not its function. It was not clear until the package was opened that it has to be stored flat rather than vertically, so it won’t fit the storage spot we thought it might. As with other reviewers, let’s hope it is never put to the test! Interestingly the replacement guarantee only applies to the person who bought it. You might want to consider a joint purchase so that the guarantee applies to whoever has it in their possession.
