    cheap but quality
coming from using keyboards with brown switches & having tried reds before I didn’t think I’d like it as much as I do, but it’s the best keyboard I’ve ever used. sounds & looks great, feels quality & sturdy, and I find it way easier to type on than browns.

tldr; solid, satisfying & cheap. new favourite keyboard.

I was replacing a Red K63 wired but unfortunately, it had a rock when on a level surface. It also was intermittent with the connection and found when I looked at the screen I had been typing for minutes but no letters :-(. For this price, I would expect better so ended up reading reviews and choosing another manufacturer at a 50% saving. The returns process was super easy.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEfficient - great for typing and working.
My first mechanical keyboard so the review includes the benefits of this type of keyboards.
I do not use it for gaming but working and writing, so review is focused on this use.
I bought it used from the Amazon returns, so any flaws may be attributed to that fact.
    Pros:
    * good rebound
    * each letter is a separate piece – I can feel them as separate and look less on the keyboard.
    * no ghosting
    * lights help working through the night
    * I estimate that my typing accelerated by 30% due to using it.
    cons
    * loud, cannot type when on the call
    * bit difficult to clean, need to remove all pieces and put them back to have it clean.
    * not sure about battery life, after few days it is constantly plugged in.

Very good entry level gaming keyboard with bright lighting
This is a great entry level keyboard with Cherry MX Red keys and bright red lighting, you can also use iCue on this which means all sorts of macros and shortcuts which is useful.

Keys are not as stable as the more premium keyboards from Corsair which I have had previously, but they still play well and typing is nice. I have had to lower the brightness of the keyboard as the red is a little intense. Great keyboard.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWell built but a pain to charge
This is a well built keyboard very responsive and a satisfying click when pressed. There is no noticeable lag when gaming, but I’m no pro gamer! I’m not fussed about the only colour of the led back light being blue either. The only downside is trying to plug in the power cable for charging, this would have been better if it had been usb-c instead of the more traditional usb cable – which I think will eventually break?! Otherwise they could have put the charge port somewhere more accessible? I could leave the cable plugged in and leave the keyboard wired but I’m not sure how much that would affect the capability of the battery in the future.

I sometimes have to unplug power cable, switch off then hold ESC key the switch on for it to switch back on? By design or is mine faulty, I think the former.

Tldr: Well built, responsive, satisfying click and looks good, but let down by tricky to access and plug in charging port!

    Tactile and agile.
Small and nimble whilst still managing to feel robust, the keys may take a while to get used to if you are migrating from a membrane setup but the less you think about it the better your experience will be.

Only drawback is the colour. Which is permanent blue, if this is a software lock Corsair really needs to do something about it.

    Year 2 Review. 100% recommended.
Reviewed after almost 2 years of use.

    Pros:
    – One of the few brand keyboards I found out there that has Cherry MX keys, and doesn’t cost a fortune because of that.
    – The keys feel great, you can add different keycaps if you like.
    – Has a (customisable) lock mode to block certain keys when gaming.
    – Brightness is customisable as well. It comes with only one colour but I don’t see it as a problem. It also has lighting effects through the iCUE app.
    – Has dedicated multimedia controls.
    – Never had a problem with it. I play mostly wired but wireless worked great as well.
    – The font looks like Terminator 2. The keyboard looks like out of Terminator 2.

    Cons?
    – Wireless/bluetooth connection requires a dongle (provided) and I couldn’t find how to pair the keyboard without it. It’s stable and fast though. Pet peeve of mine.
    – Battery is not that great, maybe 10/15 hours?

Not a bad keyboard but not the bes
The monochrome lighting is a shame at this price, as is the lack of choice for key switches, however the keyboard is very well-made, is very low latency and performs as you would hope.

The main reason to buy this board is its compatibility with the lapboard, or the sad dearth of TKL offerings in this budget, however it makes itself a reasonable option at around the 70-80 mark.

    Pros:
Sturdy keyboard wont move on your table.
Keycaps are nice and don’t move a lot.
    Build quality feels premium.

    Cons:
Can only change lightning effects in the software.

I’ve had this keyboard for nearly 6 months now and was also my very first keyboard, its a great keyboard for beginners I’ve had zero major issues except when you press the keys you can hear a loud eco of the springs inside the board also the response time is very good but but not as good as i want it as i only use this for gaming and this has roughly 4mm response time but i still do recommend this for any average gamer as this is probably the best keyboard you will get for the price as it has cherry mx switches… also im not a fan of everything being plastic and im not a fan of the font on the keys

Works well - though get if you need wirless
Personally I do not really bother with wireless devices where I can avoid them. In this case, want to game from my couch on a HTPC and big TV so its where wireless devices come into play. In my case picked up the K63 wireless along with the lapboard and wireless mouse which as a package I love.

The keyboard is what you expect, it is well made, slightly heavy if anything, but that’s fine. Comes with a wireless dongle or via bluetooth. With bluetooth I have issues in some cases, so the dongle is the way I go. Even with a wireless router on desk next to couch, no massive issues with interference which is nice.

Now from a use perspective its great, you can charge via the USB cable, though wish it was type C it charged like the newer Corsair wireless mouse’s, but guess the keyboard is now aging slightly. Up top, you can turn it off with a switcher, though found no real need to use in my case as I turn my HTPC off after use and the loss of signal after a while puts the keyboard to sleep anyways. Press a key to get going again. I suppose if you plan to not use for a while, turn it off however. It connects in seconds either way so not an issue.

Elsewhere the keyboard has the main buttons you expect, media keys and volume key. I would love to see a scroll wheel like on my k95 platinum, but not a big issue, the volume buttons work fine. LED on this board is blue only, a single colour apparently saves power which is important for wireless and there is a button to scroll through few brightness levels. Even on a lower level, thanks to the blue backing behind the keys, it does light up very well. White however would have been nicer, but the blue is fine.

The downside for me is the battery. Now not unexpected and remains to be seen how long it lasts in the longer term, but being able to replace it easily would have been nice. Likewise USB type C would have been nice. In all its a nice keyboard. There is other completion and truth be told, unless you need wireless, grab wired, get more for less money as your defo paying a premium for the wireless nature which is to be expected.

    Tutto ok UN SOLO PROBLEMA
Tastiera molto buona, switch veloci, sound ottimo e feeling fantastico, per dopo mesi e e mesi di utilizzo i keycaps si staccano da soli sulle lettere pi usate (nel caso di tutti i gamer le lettere “wasd”)

    Solid robust typing experience quality
It is a wonderful keyboard particularly on much solid you can feel when you put your hand on it. Kind of a product can bear angry gamers’ blow. on the down side, it feels a bit of long way to push a button and their is no tick tile or that clicking feeling, making it a bit lame if you use it for wording. It is like you have to type harder and louder to get going. but the keys are very sensative that one little push can trigger its funciton.

    Nice keyboard
I use this for office work in Linux more than programming and it’s nice. I would have preferred slightly stiffer keys but this one is designed for gaming so I can’t complain. I new that when I was buying it. I got the wired version as a replacement for the wireless model. The wireless seemed to suffer from some problems such as crashing if it got too warm in sunlight and taking too long to connect on some days. Get the wired one unless you really need wireless.

Its my second one, i changed to a Razor Blackwidow Elite but after a year i missed my trusty wireless K63 so decided to get another. Battery life is ok full charge will get you about 10 hours. A bit of advice, these keyboards have a tendancy to be on charge but when unplugged it shows low battery. The trick is to turn it off, hold the escape key for about 5 seconds and then turn it back on while you are still holding the escape key. It should reset the fault and will show the correct charge.

For an entry level mechanical keyboard is perfect. If you just want an all around keyboard is great.

Sound – awesome, all that I was expecting
Color – only red with 3 brightness levels (sure it looks nice to have RBG but after all the fuss is gone you don’t need it)

The only thing to keep in mind is that this is a heavy keyboard, but again, if you want something lighter (or RBG) go and spend a little more.

Keep in mind this is my first mechanical keyboard and I didn’t want to spend a lot on it.

Wireless features not compatible with PS4.
It’s a Corsair keyboard, solid made and exactly what you expect from a mid-range mechanical keyboard. However!

I bought it intending to use with my PS4 in order to play FFXIV. The bluetooth connection is not compatible with the PS4, and the 2.4ghz wireless connection doesn’t work either. I could only get it to work wired, and even then, only when the keyboard is in BIOS mode. And since it isn’t capable of going into BIOS mode while being used wirelessly…

So for anyone peeking in the reviews: great keyboard, refer to other reviews for a more technical breakdown of its actual use. I had to send mine back, because if I wanted to play wired, I’d nick my wired SteelSeries Apex M750 from my PC! In short: don’t buy this keyboard for wireless use with a PS4. Couldn’t rate it low though, since it’s still a good keyboard, but no good to me.

Compact smooth beast of a keyboard
I cannot fault this keyboard on anything, it’s super responsive in games (it took me from bronze I to diamond 3 in one week), red light is very bright but it’s one button press and it’s nice and more dimmed to my liking. Sizewize it’s great as it’s compact but still have all the keys that you’ll need as a gamer.
Did I mention that keys have really nice smooth texture on them? Well, they do.

Excellent quality, would recommend buying it!
Excellent quality for the money! Hands down one of the most comfortable keyboards to use. It feels very sturdy and overall excellently built, the keys have very minimal play (like very minimal – understandable knowing that they are removable) and they feel like quality item to be used. I love the Cherry MX Red feedback when typing, it does sound very mechanical similar to a type writer which is quiet enjoyable experience in my opinion. This said though, it’s not the quietest keyboard out there so if you’re looking for a quiet keyboard this may not be the best choice for you. For me personally I very much enjoy using it & the noise doesn’t bother me at all, in fact it makes the experience more enjoyable. There are 3 brightness levels to adjust, the red backlight does have a ‘bleed effect’ which just makes this keyboard so cool. In terms of the responsiveness of this keyboard I would say that it’s very responsive and keys must not need to be fully pressed in to be recognised which I found pretty good. You can probably tell by now how much I like this keyboard, I think it’s one of the best keyboards available at this price point.

    Great keyboard, odd ringing sound
Love the feel and look of this keyboard. It goes so bright it almost hurts your eyes if you want it to, if anything there should be a dimmer setting. The upside down shift design of the keys takes some getting used to, but I don’t mind. My only complaint is there is an odd ringing sound when the keys are pressed which can get annoying, I expected better for such an expensive keyboard but apparently this is related to the type of keys used.

Effects software way too heavy, Excellent typing experience.
Build seems solid, heavy, stays in palce.
Love dedicated media/win disable buttons – those work perfectly on Linux as well.
Lighting seemed too excessive at first, but it grew on me and keys are perfectly visible at any light if you need to sneak a peek.

Typing is a pleasure, since I’m coming from beaten up old wireless keyboard and gaming is a blast – I can finally really feel each key and there is no ghosting – they are very precise.

The only drawback is resource consuming software for Win. KB works perfectly fince without it, you just don’t have all the fancy effects which is fine by me.

Would definitely recommend or buy again 🙂

This is a heavy, solid keyboard that I bought specifically to use in the K63 wireless lapboard. In combination, it’s the best solution out there. The backlights are bright and it’s very solidly built. Having the option to switch between the ultra-fast wireless dongle for gaming and Bluetooth on a second PC without moving the dongle was a bonus. Quality keyboard, only slightly let down by the on/off switch which works fine but doesn’t feel very positive.

Great when it tracks its battery charge properly
in general I do like this keyboard and the adaptability with its wireless mode is fantastic but a word of warning…
UPDATE YOUR FIRMWARE FOR THIS KEYBOARD!
until I did this the keyboard could not keep track of its own battery charge, thinking it is dead when the battery is fully charged, then only working when plugged in which defeats the point of buying it for most.
however, after this bad hiccup it has been very good and I would recommend it to others but… expect a problem with the battery in terms of software when you use it for the first few months but once you past that it is here to stay.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersPretty good all rounder but pairs amazing with the lapboard
Firstly if you are buying this with the lapboard it is a fantastic combo and seriously consider it. There’s not much else out there. Which is the issue…

(This is my first mechanical keyboard so im not an expert this is personal opinion.)

    Firstly the pros:
    – The build quality is great. Its super heavy so wont slide around on your desk. I was actually shocked how heavy it was!
    – The key cap texture is a really nice smooth matte plastic texture. There is almost no wobble at all.
    – The cherry red switches are great. If you can I would try all the switches out but I didn’t have the luxury so I took a chance on red. They are really nice to use. The still make a nice tappy sound when they bottom out but no where near as annoying and clicky as the blues. I think they make my fingers less stiff when playing as well as it doesn’t take much force to push them. If you are new to mechanical keyboards then I think most will like them.
    – Very responsive in wireless mode. Haven’t had any issues so far.

    Cons
    – The lighting programs on it are really limited compared to other wired keyboards in corsairs range. I was disappointed I couldn’t stack effects as I had some cool ideas with the lighting of my rig. Also wish they had an RGB version.
    – Limited to cherry MX Red switches. I kind of wanted to try the browns but as this is the only solution out there that can be both a desk keyboard and a lapboard I was limited on my options.
    – Price is a little high to be honest. Its a great quality build but I would have hoped for a little more for 120 like RGB, MX switch options and maybe some other nice features like an OLED. Other brands like steelseries manage this at a similar price range.

Ultimately I bought this for the lapboard configuration and its basically the best out there. So if you are buying for that then look no further. It is a great keyboard and has a great build quality. However as a mechanical keyboard in its own right it leaves a few things to be desired and so I would think about going for a wired or another brand like SteelSeries or Logitech as I would have done if I didn’t need the lapboard as well.

Excellent keyboard, not 100% sealed from liquids.
    PROS:

Lovely MX Cherry keys which are a huge improvement from cheap membrane keys.
The distance for the key to travel before registering is nice and short but not to the point of where accidently tapping keys is a problem.
Sturdy plastic casing with no noticeable deck flex.
The single red LED key lighting is slightly customisable but you’re limited to a few presets if you don’t wish to delve into it.

    CONS:

After only 3 days I’d accidently spilt coffee on the desk which got onto the keyboard, most of the keyboard is well sealed but the spacebar has a opening beneath it which was very difficult to access to dry and clean. For an hour the space bar somehow activated the windows key but after a deep coean and dry the problem was solved. Don’t be an idiot like me, my liquids are now away from the desk…

Great value for wireless gaming and multimedia control
Still a great performer for more relaxed gaming.I purchased this a good while back so can provide some insight into long term use and value. The overall quality is great and the keyboards holds up well today, latency is extremely minima in wireless use and the battery is decent – still lasts abou a day with the blue LEDs on , though lasts about a week with the backlight dimmed/off.When using wired mode the keyboard is just like others in the wired line from Corsair, I was very happy with the keystrokes from the Chery MX red switches in my keyboard.Id recommend this if you want to game at a distance from your pc, and maybe pair it with a Logitech or razer wireless mouse, though any other reputable brand will do just fine.In my experiences those combinations worked well for me with this keyboard and I enjoyed gaming in the living room and conn citing this keyboard to my Nvidia shield for in home streaming and gforce now, the keyboard works perfectly with it with no needed tweaks.

Complaint: My backspace key on the keyboard doesn’t have the same feedback as the other Cherry MX Reds key. Which is actually really annoying when you type!!

Great TKY keyboard for gaming and general use. Can’t go wrong with Cherry MX Reds.
Build in volume key buttons which is actually more helpful than you think. Unless you really want a RGB keyboard, then get this keyboard and save yourself some money for other components.

    Great keyboard
I love this keyboard the cherry mx reds are beautiful to type on and I love its smaller size than my previous keyboard (corsair k55) 5/5 would recommend, it’s also very affordable especially during a sale.

This keyboard operates as a keyboard. No more, no less.. quality product to be fair and good build quality. Battery life is a definite plus, not a negative for me, but maybe for others, it only comes with blue lighting.

Good wireless signal without noticable latency, love media control keys. Battery life isn’t the best, but I use it with leds always on and I’m charging it every couple of days. Bought it with corsairs lap board and I love it.

Solid, compact, wired mechanical gaming keyboard
Very fast, very solid-build, and without anything fancy a decent ergonomic setup. I use a gel wrist-rest, and with that it’s very comfortable. I’ve had nothing but good experiences from this both gaming and typing / working. I got this for a smaller workspace and the lack of the numeric keypad means it leaves a lot of space for the mouse. The lights are a bit too much on full, but easily adjusted to a lower level (or off). As a wired, mechanical gaming keyboard it’s very solid and I’m very happy with it.

    Quality with a few drawbacks
This keyboard puts a lot of it’s eggs into it’s official Cherry MX Red switches and media keys and slim profile, which are great and all, but there are a few downsides that even budget keyboards have remedied. For example, the cables are not braided and could be susceptible to damage if constantly being rubbed against a harsh surface.
It’s also great to have the lighting, but the brightness options are redundant as there is no reason not to use the brightest option over the 2 lesser ones. Also, the lighting is red only, which is a big benefit if you have a red themed set up and want to save on having to buy a full colour keyboard, but it may stand out like an eyesore amongst a more diverse setup.
The keys are ideal for gaming if you like red switches, but the keyboard does have a tendancy to create a subtle sound of metal tapping, like lightly knocking on a metal pole, which produces an echo after a string of typing. Headphones are recommended if that is something that may bother you
The lesser width of the keyboard due to the absence of the numberpad is lovely, which should help many people with limited desk space.
The optional downloadable software is okay, but you soon realise that the lighting effects are eyesores or distractions, so you end up keeping the lights on full static brightness.
Ultimately, if you are on a budget, you are better off looking at some of the options from Red Dragon, as these same drawbacks are justified by the lesser price. But if you are looking for a reliable, quality, compact keyboard, and this is on sale, it’s worth considering

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersGreat keyboard let down by poor software and desig
I had this keyboard for over 1 year now. I originally bought it with the idea to use it in combination with the lapboard so I could game from the couch.

It did its job fine, in the end I decided to buy a proper table as the lapboard wasnt really doing it for me, it was fine for normal gaming but found it hard to use competitively plus it was causing me a tendinitis on my right arm (due to the position of the mouse). Anyway this is not a lapboard review lets talk about the keyboard.

It works great, feels fantastic, keys can be a bit delicate and will sometimes pop out which can be annoying, but it doesnt really happen that often. The USB switch on the back is awful, biggest design flaw I found on the keyboard, feels like one day its going to stop working…

But the main let down is ICUE, the software is absolutely horrible, nothing but issues with it. The keyboard has had issues from the beginning, for example, after booting up it wont turn on, so I have to unplug the USB cable and turn it off and on, then once it connects wirelessly it will work.

I upgraded the firmware once, but for a while now it wont upgrade any longer, it has gone worse and worse to a point were the keyboard will stop working if I use ICUE (or if ICUE is installed). Therefore I have to use it now without the software, which means I cant use macros, led controls, etc etc.

The solution that Corsair support has given me is to send it back but I will have to pay postage, I live In Ireland so it will costs me about 1/3 of what the keyboard currently costs… Find it a bit ridiculous that a company like Corsair has no free postage.

I wont be buying corsair if there is a similar option from a different vendor at least those devices that require their software to run…..

Lately I feel that companies make great HW but poor SW… this is not exclusive to Corsair though.

    Update:

Corsair support were kind enough to provide me with a return label so I wouldnt have to pay postage. The keyboard was sent back and was replaced for a new one within a couple of days.

So overall more pleased now with their support team and how the handled it. Still want to point out the flaws of the keyboard, biggest one being ICUE.

    Great, just a minor complai
I moved from the Logitech G910 (passed it down to my little brother) to this K63 smaller keyboard; I rarely used the G910 numberpad so it was just unnecessary desk space wasted. This size is much better.

I instantly got used to this keyboard. Compared to the G910, the K63 has no tactile response. I prefer this though. Just a clean click which isn’t noisy. It’s a good keyboard, not much to say. Just one complaint:
I have a wall-mounted 32″ curved monitor (the bottom hangs 2″ off the table), and due to the positioning of the keyboard LED bulbs (behind the keys, rather than inside them like Logitech do), they always reflect off the monitor. Only way to avoid it is by turning off the lights… A slight annoyance.

The red glow doesn’t provide me anything as I use this for programming luckily that is easy to turn off. Otherwise this is a great keyboard and better than the squishy Cherry non mechanical keyboard it replaced. It doesn’t have a numeric keypad but then I twigged I never use that so I appreciate the space gain on my desk.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersPerfect for couch gaming
Made even more perfect if you pair it with the Corsair lapboard that I also bought with it. I suspect that’s a question a lot of people ask as I know I did. As already stated here, I just thought I’d cement that statement – this works flawlessly with the Corsair lapboard. The rear clips on the lapboard can be removed as the front clips where the writs-wrest would normally go are plenty strong enough to hold it in place. Failing that you could drill holes into the keyboard at the rear for the clips if you really wanted for that little bit of extra lateral support.

As for the keyboard itself, it’s a gaming keyboard by Corsair and so by default it’s going to be great…depending on if you like Cherry Red switches or not. Personally I’d rather have browns or speeds, but, it’s also an occasional keyboard and not my main typing one. The black and red colour scheme of this is right up my street, and the red LEDs with their iCUE control is the icing on the cake. Being wired there is no need to mess with charging and batteries, it’s just there whenever it’s needed.

Although there is absolutely nothing wrong with the standard key caps, I did order a set of the white doubleshot key caps as you can see in the picture. I wanted some contrast to tie it into my PC and other peripherals that are also black and white. For those interested I have reviewed those too, but in a nutshell, they are very slightly larger and dull the sound of the switches compared to the stock ones. For me that’s a win.

    Highly Recommended
By far the best keyboard I’ve ever owned, spacing on the keys are great, it feels responsive, they keys have a nice rubbery grip to them , it’s hard to explain but it has a rubber coating and it feels great.

Over the past 10 years I’ve owned 5 keyboards (This one included), i had a wireless dell one as my first, a Mad Catz Cyborg V.7, a red dragon keyboard (Only had it for a day) a Corsair Raptor K40, and now this one, so this is my, let’s just say first, mechanical keyboard (I only say this because the red dragon is technically my first but i only had it for a day)

Typing and gaming on it feels great, as i’ve mentioned the keys have a nice rubbery grip to them and also the texture on the spacebar feels really nice, you can tell this is a quality built, even if two keys were knocked off during shipping (Not broken!!)

Hands feel completely fine after long gaming/typing sessions, ive just written 5 reviews using this keyboard and I feel great, just before that i played Destiny 2 for 2 hours too.

The fact it’s 10 keyless is great, old my old keyboards had number pads, but I never used them so I figured I may as well get a 10 keyless and get more desk space, and you will notice if you’re going from a full keyboard to a 10 keyless how much space you gain.

One thing I should note is that one day the RGB didn’t work and I had to re-plug the usb for it to turn on, now hopefully this was a one time thing, it has been a while since it last happened (And it only happened once) but it should still be mentioned in my review.

My only major gripe with the keyboard is the fact the brightness keeps resetting every time I reset my computer, I always have my backlights on the dimmest they can be, and my old corsair keyboard always stayed on it, but with this keyboard everytime I turn my computer on I keep needing to turn the brightness down because it keeps resetting to full brightness..

So in summary, it’s a great keyboard for gaming and typing, I can see this lasting me many many years, and Corsair are definitely my go to keyboard brand from now on.

If you found this review informative of helpful please mark it as such as I’d really appreciate it

    Thank you – Brando

    General Review - 2019/10/18
This keyboard is great, so happy that I got it before it rose a little in its price. This would be my go to recommendation for everyone’s first mechanical keyboard.
Even when the back-lights are turned off, the letters/words/symbols on the keyboard is highly-visible, at least compared to my previous mechanical keyboard.

    Very nice mechanical keyboard
This keyboard has a very subtle contour that you wouldn’t notice in the pictures but makes a huge difference to how comfortable it is. Now whenever I have to use regular keyboards I struggle, not only are they clunky and membrane, but the lack of satisfying switch clicking is actually sad.

If you’re into flashy LED magic you can use the corsair software to add different effects to the keyboard but I just like plain static LEDS.

    Worth the price tbh
I was hesitant to spend 60 on a keyboard. I specifically needed a 10 keyless board that would fit on a small lapboard.
I decided to go for it instead of spending 30 on less known brands (Haven’t tried any of them.), and I’m not disappointed.
The keys are smooth and responsive. I have encountered no ghosting. The multimedia buttons are very handy when you’re in a fullscreen game.
Can’t say for its durability or longevity because I’m not willing to drop it to test it, but seems solidly built.

Truly excellent piece of kit one downside as with all Corsair products is the firmware the icue system leaves a lot to be desired and may require soft reset or reinstall on occasion. Very sturdy mechanical keys top drawer connectivity and build and long cable should you need it to plug in directly.

    Fairly beer proof
I bought one of these a couple of days ago after killing my last keyboard with a glass of red wine (an Apple A1048). True to form, I bought this keyboard and managed to pour a can of cider over it within about 2 hours of buying it. After that it did all sort of crazy stuff when I plugged it in. I pulled off all the keys, took the chassis apart the best I could and stuck it next an open window to dry it out. This took a couple of days because I wasn’t paying attention and it rained, which came through the open window and soaked the disassembled keyboard some more. To cut a long story short, the keyboard is now dry, reassembled and is working perfectly. Based on this, I think this is clearly worth 5*. It is also a very nice keyboard to use. Nice clicky keys, but not overly clicky like those 1980’s IBM ones were.

    Great first mechanical keyboard
I like this keyboard a lot. I can definitely tell the difference now between a membrane keyboard and actual mechanical switches. These particular Cherry MX switches are great to type with – although I am still getting used to them. Very fast and responsive – especially noticeable in games. Having a TKL keyboard is great – being able to have the keyboard at a slight angle (leaning towards move vertical orientation I find is more comfortable on the wrist. Although slightly on the heavy side which is great since it will certainly not slip and slide. I did find the corners though to be on the sharper side – accidentally sliding your hand against these corners will leave a mark. Dedicated function keys are plus.
Offering a wrist rest would have been a great touch.

Overall, this a great product for those looking for a compact mechanical keyboard with an accurate response time.

This is the first time I have bought a corsair keyboard and I am not disappointed. Fairly quiet keys for a mechanical keyboard with a really good response time. Easy to update with Corsairs client. I find it comfortable for gaming because you can stop and start but for long periods of typing its not ideal, but after all it is a gaming keyboard.

    Perfect for couch PC gaming
I purchased this keyboard along with its (separate) lapboard for couch gaming and to replace a Logitech wireless keyboard that I had been using with a basic lapdesk up to then. The biggest difference for me has probably been in storing the keyboard when it’s not in use. By integrating the keyboard into the lapdesk, it makes storage so much more straightforward and the fairly restrained design means that you’re only limited by the length of the unit for storage most of the time.

As for the keyboard itself, the mechanical switches feel great and responsive (though I’m not into fast paced multiplayer games that might really test this) and just as good as wired mechanical keyboards I’ve used in the past. The lack of a number pad is an unfortunate but understandable compromise, but the media keys are useful. Battery life is great and the customisation options offered in Corsair software are extensive. Full RGB backlighting would have been nice, given that most other keyboards and mice offer this these days, but again it is a totally understandable compromise.

I’m a big fan of this keyboard and the setup it offers and will be interested to see what future options Corsair release for couch PC gaming.

Golden Review Award: 43 From Our UsersMassive productivity boost for coders
Quite simply the best keyboard I’ve ever owned. I work off a Macbook Pro, and lately the ‘e’ key has jammed to the point where I need to slam it several times (hard) before it knows who’s boss. Having to re-write every sentence three times got old fast, but writing code was especially tedious, where every character counts.

Rather than suffer the downtime of a Mac repair (the keyboard issue is a known and unfortunately common problem), I decided to hook up an external keyboard and monitor and use the laptop more as a desktop. At first, I used an old wireless keyboard I had lying around from years back, that I bought in a kit with a mouse for about 20. The keys were flimsy and my typing accuracy left a lot to be desired. Apparently the test for a good keyboard is pressing the edge of the ‘space bar’ and if it only dips at the end you press, it’s naff. This one was very much naff.

Seeking a bit of nostalgia for the old days where keyboards sounded like keyboards, I decided to punt for a mechanical one, and settled on the K63 due to both the Corsair brand and the right balance of price. There’s a ton of different models available and I wasn’t totally sure what the difference was (I’m still not, to be honest.) So I went for something that wasn’t totally the cheapest, but also wasn’t an insanely high-end model intended for gaming. This keyboard would solely be used for bashing out heavy-duty code for 8-10+ hours a day, so I wanted something ‘pro’ that wouldn’t light up all the colours of the rainbow or that I could play ‘snake’ on (apparently you can get ones that do!)

In short, this keyboard is simply awesome. Every keystroke connects, and gives a deeply satisfying ‘thud’ and finger feedback. I can FLY through sentences like they’re nothing, and when I look back at the screen, I’m amazed at the accuracy I’ve been able to achieve. Very rarely have I plugged in and a keyboard before and immediately felt right at home with it, but I did with this. Literally within 5 mins of opening the box, my productivity went up. No joke.

I was also happy to find that the keyboard is WIRED. Call me eager, but I obviously didn’t read the description, and based on YouTube reviews on keyboards I’d watched, I only saw the wireless K63 available. I wasn’t looking forward to having to change batteries every day or two, so I was very pleasantly surprised when I opened the box to find it wired! Probably obvious to anyone that bothers to read the description, but for an eager skimmer like me it was a nice surprise.

There are only two minor issues with this keyboard that aren’t really issued at all, more like features:

    1. Keystrokes are LOUD. Unpacking it and using it in the living room on the first night was enough to cause a barney with my better half. Apparently it got in the way of her telly after a hard day of slaving away! That was quickly rectified by being ‘moved on’ to an outside garage to use as my office. Fine by me! Now I can type as loud as I want. Seriously though, if you’re thinking of using this in an office or any type of shared space, make sure you either have a door separating you and other humans, or colleagues with less sensitive dispositions. It is a mechanical keyboard, after all.

    2. It’s intended for use with Windows, so expect a Windows key. This might be obvious, but as a Mac user, the layout is ever so slightly different. Setting the Mac to ‘British – PC’ in System Preferences kind of worked. The Windows key is now a Mac Command key, but it and a couple of other keys are slightly out of place and don’t map quite perfectly to the assigned keys. This hasn’t gotten in the way of using the keyboard and can probably be tweaked further, but just a heads-up for Mac users.

Overall, a pretty perfect keyboard. Oh yeah, I also wrote this review using it and (get me!) without looking down at the keys once. If I’ve made a bunch of spelling errors, you can blame me and my poor spelling. If I happen to have got the words mostly right, then consider that my best testimony. Great keyboard– I’ll make the 70 I spent on it back in productivity gains 100x over, I’m sure of it.

I recommend this keyboard to everyone who look for the perfect balance between value, build quality, portability. I just got used to the fact that you can remove your cord at anytime and keep on playing. Since I live in a small rent room and I don’t have space for things like a desk , cutting the cords and buying only wireless hardware is the only option for me and this keyboard was the only missing part of my wireless setup. Great product. If there are still people that think you can’t play games like overwatch on wireless hardware… I’m currently at masters with this keyboard! I will never go back to the old “only cord”keyboards. The future is wireless.

Unfortunately on the first one, the space bar failed to function on one side, but, typical Amazon, solved the problem and a replacement was delivered within 24 hours. Keycaps with no standard label style
I’d give this keyboard 5 stars, but I have two negative points to say: (1) the thing that annoys me is the label style for keycaps that have 2 options to use it with or without shift, for example numbers, the number is at the top of the keycap and the shift-character is at the bottom of the keycap, so it’s confusing because the standard is the other way around; and (2) the backlight is just one color with two levels of intensity. On the other hand, I like the quality and good duration of battery.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersOverkill for most situations but if you need top quality...
This is a compact keyboard with full size keys that allows for wired or wireless connection, over the newer Bluetooth standard or the old 2.4GHz system used by many wireless devices for a couple of decades.

Corsair sell a K63 wired version of this which can be had for around seventy to eighty quid, so you’re paying quite a premium for wireless, but I would have expected them to give it a different code designation to avoid confusion. Nope. Be careful you’re buying the right K63.

The keyboard is identical to a K65 RGB I have with similar Cherry keys. There’s no compromises that seem to have been made to include the wireless. As a compact keyboard there are function keys you can bind macros to, as required, but no numpad, which you will possibly miss if you are doing a lot of data entry. IF you are doing a lot of data entry then… my sympathies to you!

I have skipped using infinitesimally better keyboards from other manufacturers simply because I like the Corsair PC software better than any other I’ve tried but that’s probably not a deciding factor here, as this isn’t really a macro keyboard. Suffice to say that if you’re unfamiliar with Cherry Red mechanical keys they take a bit of getting used to but once you do you will not want to go back. These are light clicky keys which aren’t super loud but highly distinctive.

Given that this doesn’t incorporate any kind of pointer device (nub or glide pad) it’s intended to be used with a wireless mouse or trackball. It’s also a lot bulkier than most wireless keyboards so I suspect the intended use is on a HTPC or gaming PC being used with a TV, possibly where the computer is located in a cupboard or similarly hidden away making wired keyboard and mouse impractical. For that it would work very well.

The keyboard is a good size for use with a wireless mouse on even a mid-sized lapboard around two to two and a half feet wide or so. Corsair actually sell one of these, specifically recessed for the K63 wireless keyboard, for about fifty five quid.

I genuinely unbox Corsair mechanical keyboards with glee. I love them so I’m a little biased. However this is quite no frills, no RGB lighting for instance, and the wireless technology doesn’t really warrant the price differential between this and the wired K63, in my opinion. However IF I was after a couch keyboard for big screen gaming it’s the one I’d buy because I don’t always operate logically.

Does what it says on the box
A good, compact wireless keyboard that needs charging before use and you need to keep an eye on it or it goes flat. We do tend to leave it on charge when the computer is on. The keys are chunky and feel robust, the numbers are across the top. I would have preferred them to be in a block the side as I find that easier, but it would take up more room, and this is a preference rather than an issue! My son uses it for gaming and has no complaints about it.

This is a quality piece of equipment. Our previous keyboard was basic and did the job, but this one is a major step up. The key strokes are efficient and light up, although this feature can be dimmed or switched off. Our eldest loves the feature though and keeps them on. The battery life lasts all day and the keyboard is what it says, portable. It moves with you. It can be wired if need be though, and comes with the necessary USB port. I really like the soft touch wrist pad for added comfort. This makes the whole keyboard use a much more user friendly experience, especially if you need to be on for extended periods.

Great keyboard – was fully charged right out of the box, and was completely plug-n-play – a quick device install done automatically by Windows and I was on my way. I also connected this keyboard to my phone, a Samsung S8, and it worked a charm on that too. The keyboard comes with a removable wrist rest, which I appreciated – though I much prefer the look of the keyboard without the rest. It’s a little boxy, but I quite like the aesthetic of it. The blue backlight on the keys is really, really nice, as is the fact you don’t have to go to a fiddly menu to turn the brightness up or down – simply press a physical button on the keyboard (only has three settings, mind – off, low, and high). The keyboard itself feels smooth, easy to operate, and obviously, is quite loud – not a keyboard you want if you’re worried about disturbing someone. Each key press is clacky, tactile and super responsive and gives excellent sensory feedback. Love it!

While rechargeable is great for playing in bed, I really like the power wired option – nothing worse than your keyboard going flat in the middle of a serious competition – and no chance with this baby. Similarly the option for wired or wireless connection to my PC is brilliant. I love having so many thoughtful options! It’s a keyboard clearly designed by people who understand the gamer’s needs (or actually any serious PC user).

I’ve never used a Corsair keyboard before, but consider me a convert!

Corsair knocks it out of the park. Excellent Keyboard.
I really like this product. From the look, feel and relative portability down to its compact design it really is perfect for so many inferential applications. As more and more people are moving their gaming rigs or secondary PC’s into the Living Room this would be perfect. It is genuinely portable and has an all day battery life. The mechanical keys have excellent feel and personally I use mechanical keys on my main non portable systems as I prefer the feel of the keys and feel the expense is worth it. Don’t expect this to be the same size as other cheaper portable keyboards that are out there but they simply do not work to the same level as this. It is however way more portable and compact than most of the other Mechanical Keyboards that I have seen. Set up is very simple just plug the supplied dongle in. Personally I like the the blue lights that illuminate the keyboard and makes it very easy to see the keys in the dark, however these can be switched off. In short I think Corsair have done a great job with this product and you really ought to have it high on your PC keyboard shortlis

    A very well made keyboard.
    What a piece of equipment!
Everything about this keyboard reeks of quality.
For a start, it has that reassuring, weighty feel to it that you hope for when your buying an expensive piece of equipment. It’s like AV equipment, there’s something slightly worrying when your new DVD player weighs less than your tablet, you can’t help feeling its cheap. Not so with this.

The keyboard I’m comparing this to (my usual) is the Golem K50E, which I cant seem to find on Amazon UK, but is still on the German site, and retailed when I got it for about 80 i-rocks Mechanical Feel Keyboard with High-Scissor Structure Backlit Cherry Compatible Keycaps and Turbo-Typing for Gaming and Multimedia Keys
The keys are very nicely weighted, with a reassuring click every press. They glow a nice blue colour, but if you don’t like that there’s a simple little illumination button that can be used to dim them one strength or just turned off.
The media buttons work. Enough said.
You can also use this keyboard wired, which I don’t know was that obvious from the product description. There is also a USB adaptor, which I think must be for use with wired tablets…it wasn’t too clear. The other item included is the Bluetooth adapter.

The hand rest was a nice touch, but I chose not to use it after trying, and to be fair it is nice having extra desk real estate with what feels a nicely compact set of keys.
The keyboard has some very looking cheap legs to raise it, but when you use them, again, they are reassuringly well built and tough.
If I had to give this keyboard a minus for anything, it would be that it’s not extended….so if you are used to calculations etc, this may be an issue.

Is it worth the extraordinary price tag of 120?
Well, it was a revelation to me after years of using budget 10 and 15 keyboards just what a well built keyboard was like. The Golem was a real eye opener. This takes it to another level. If having really well built kit is important to you (and for some reason I think of people who but expensive cameras and then skimp on the tripod by paying for the cheapest they can find) then this has to be one of the best on the market…unless you’re going a different route with something like an Elwood Retro Classic Elwood – USB Luxury Vintage Backlit Mechanical Keyboard (Blue Switch, Walnut Wood Surface, Zinc Alloy Frame)(UK Layout)

Recommended…if you are building a set up that is to die for.

Fits nicely on a small desk
Fits nicely on a small desk. Keys are nice to use. But Ive been having a problem with the space bar, as its sitting higher up from my last keyboard, im getting into a habit of accidently hitting the space bar while gaming.
As i press the space bar unintentionally, it will make my character jump ingame when i didnt want to jump. So it can be very frustrating at times.

    Great keyboard
The keyboard arrived on the date the sellers said it would, in perfect condition with box, manual and guarantee. I use the keyboard for gaming so I wanted to backlight only WASD and 1-5 as these are the keys I use, but the software doesn’t allow you to do this. Real Cherry MX and the keyboards heavy preventing it from slipping.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat keyboard - Feels good to the touch and very portable
Not only did this product arrive before it was so supposed to, it met all my expectations!
The keys feel great to the touch, not too loud, but loud enough to have that mechanical sound we all know and love. Plus, since its Cherry MX Red you can press it ever so slightly if you want to be quieter, and it won’t make a sound while still registering the key stroke.
It’s really small for a keyboard, meaning it’s easily portable, and if you don’t mind not having a number pad then this keyboard is right for you!
The seperate media keys mean you don’t have to press the FN or ALT key, which is great, and there’s a lot of lighting effects to play with on the Corsair software. There’s also the function to disable the windows key (plus so key combinations on the Corsair software) which is useful as well.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersBest keyboard for sure
This keyboard is amazing. It is a TKL but has all you need (including media keys, such as pause, play, volume and many more). The build is just perfect. It doesn’t feel cheap at all. Ideal for gaming. If you have a small desk, this is the keyboard for you.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Usersit is heavy so stays put on the desk and the keys are a joy to use
This review is for the K63 Keyboard. This is my first mechanical keyboard and I am very impressed indeed. It fits my needs perfectly, compact footprint (no numberpad which I don’t use or require), it is heavy so stays put on the desk and the keys are a joy to use, accurate and with feel. There are no gimmicks here; I don’t need macros and such, mainly used for Skyrim SE and typing. As a touch typist this is such an improvement on membrane keyboards. Three levels of red lighting, plus Windows key disable button. If you’ve ever considered going for a mechanical keyboard, my advice is to do it. A bit like going from HDD to SSD, once you try it there is no going back.

So in summary, a straightforward mechanical keyboard which feels like it will last forever.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSymbols are upside dow
This is a great keyboard – would definitely recommend it to others. HOWEVER – after using this keyboard for a few days I had sometimes been struggling to type as comfortably as I normally would, and something just felt different to my last keyboard, even though they were the same layout. Then I realised that all of the symbol keys are labelled upside down, which you can see in the photos. ie. -=[];’#,./ are labelled on the top of the keys, suggesting that SHIFT should be held to type them, when this is not the case. The number keys are labelled as normal. Strange that they would do this as the keys work exactly as they should, it’s just confusing to look at. I cant find any previous reviews that mention this, so thought I would!
