Plug and play, good performance These were a very straightforward install – literally plug them in and they work. The performance is very good and above all the stability is excellent, I’ve had no issues with them whatsoever so far.
Great piece of kit, easily to set up and has run relaibly since installatio Great piece of kit, easily to set up and has run relaibly since installatio
Wish I'd bought these sooner. Wifi at home isn’t great, this solution sending the signal via power cables boosted my download speed from 3.7Mb to 43.9Mb instantly.
It is exactly what they say. Stick a cable into one plug. Plug cable into your router and plug into power socket. Stick the other cable in the other plug. Plug into power socket. Plug cable into other computer. Press button on both plugs and wait for the white light to come on steady on both.
That’s it.
The only complicated thing is adjusting your computer via the control panel to take the feed from the cable and not the wifi any more, but even that is just finding the right bit in your control panel and ticking a box.
Only other note is the box doesn’t mention windows 10 compatibility. Don’t worry, it is.
So impressed that I instantly went and ordered a second set for use in other rooms.
Total bargain worth having, particularly at the sale price Amazon had at the time of purchase in February 2023.
Great performance and customer service! My previous Develo WiFi unit burned out after 7 yrs of great service. I initially replaced with the wrong starter kit but after a call with Develo customer service I was informed of the unit to buy which was simple on Amazon with immediate refund for wrong purchase.
I struggled to pair up the units at first because the base unit had previously been paired with the last WiFi unit but another call to Develo customer service showed me how to reset to factory settings and pair again. Works a treat now, by far the best WiFi extender using the ring main on the market, not cheap, but you get quality!
Plug and play I have used Devolo products in the past – these D550 were a dream to install. Documentation was for the EU version and not that helpful, if I am being honest. However, there’s nothing to go wrong here and the product has 3 year warranty. Comes with 2x2metre ethernet cables (not indicated on the product description or the box) which is handy.
Make sure you set it up in the same room as an existing node I have had a Devolo Dlan 1200 network for some years and it has worked absolutely flawlessly with speeds around 400MBps. I wanted to extend it to a shed so got this single add-on unit. I initially tried to plug it into the socket in the shed to set it up but it would not find the other nodes and join the encrypted network. Eventually I moved it into the same room as one of the nodes and it connected and then I moved it outside. All was then ok. The “instructions” do show the new node in the same room as a node but I did not interpret this as a requirement and there are no words to help you – in contrast the TP-Link adapters instructions state in red & bold that it must be setuo in the same room. Now all working and I hope it will perform as well and reliably as the existing nodes.
They are very easy to use and setup and are pretty much ready out of the box although you’ll quite likely want to use a downloadable app to configure them to your preferred WiFi name and password.
They work well and speeds are good.
Main gripe is the size of them. Main plug is not as big as those giving off wifi and with extra network ports but the two that do are not far off small house bricks and I came across many plugs that would have been perfect to locate them but wouldn’t take them due to the available space above them. You need a good 6 inches clear above the top of any electrical socket, otherwise they won’t fit.
Extra adaptors for hom I have been using the 1200+ starter kit for 5 years, from my ground floor office to my 3rd floor attic with zero issue’s. I would get the same speed from the office to the attic. It has taken me this long to realise that I needed to upgrade the rest of the house. I bought two extra adaptors, and put one in the far side of the house and the second floor, I used the Devolo Cockpit app on my laptop to add the extra two adaptors and to tick the box to make the into a mesh network. They work like a dream, can highly recommend.
Perfect in every way. First, I bought a ‘very good’ condition one at a saving of 36. The only thing wrong was the plug protector was missing.
I bought this to serve as the Master unit of several devices, a 550, 2×500, and 2×200.
These devices were from new to 10 years old and all synched perfectly. LIt improved the link speed on all devices.
I plugged in, did the simple installation, and a couple of minutes later it was inn the network. Swapped out the old Master and it took over immediately.
I used the Wi-Fi synch routine and it was available to Wi-Fi devices in the 2.4 Gb link. I had to open the configuration from the Devolo Cockpit to change the Wi-Fi setting on the 5.0Gb setting.
Finally a word about the Devolo support. I had previously tried to install the same type of adapter from a different source. Devolo email support was unsurpassed with responses within minutes. After several attempts to resolve the issue they concluded correctly that the adapter was u/s.
Devolo dLAN 1200 Plu. Have used the devolo Wi-Fi for all my devices in my home for the perfect connection using my home wiring system, this addition gave me perfect Wi-Fi even in my hall excellent piece of tech.
Trusted manufacture Bought this as initially tried a cheaper alternative from another company which just fidnt work. I knew having existing devolo products that they could be relied upon for quality. Worked straight away and very quick set up. Still working well months later. Allows my sons to play on 2 separate ps4s one on ethernet connection and other from wifi.
does what it says Used as a way of bringing ethernet connection to various home cinema components, without running huge amounts of ethernet cable. Works well. I don`t use it for wifi, so can`t comment.
works well works but took a few attempts to install as instructions could have been a lot clearer by mentioning colours and flashing you would see of the buttons involved when installing. Download the Devolo app when installing as it helps a great deal.
Take time to get the most from these Devolo devices to get the best out of them. I’ve had these for some time gradually increasing in number to 4 units now, I’ve used the mesh setting to improve my set up and all’s working well but I have spent time getting to this point, I’ve tured off the WiFi on my router just using the meshed devolo adapters for WiFi together with ethernet cable from a couple of them also for my pc and firestick.
Retain Devolo 1200 Wi Fi originally deemed faulty I originally bought the device and reset my Ethernet and wi fi networks.
I had to make some network changes and the unit failed. I asked to return the unit received and replace it with another. Excellent response from Amazon.
I reset my systems again with the new 1200 + wi Fi and the system has been well.
I then decided to retry the first unit and incorporate it into my set up after I had reset it to factory settings. The unit has since worked flawlessly.
I have decided to keep the first unit and ask Amazon to charge me for it.
Thank you for your help.
Worked as advertised I was worried that the fact that I wanted to use this on a different circuit at the other side of the house. And it worked as described – as advertised up/down speeds, fantastic
Full house seamless wifi coverage I have 6 of these across the house and once setup work faultlessly. They can be sensitive to broadband interruptions but otherwise now much improved.
Disappointed I cannot mix with the new Devolo Magic units or more speed
Increase my speed by 10-20mbps I, like many, am now working from home in a makeshift home office. This involves internet virtual meetings regularly on top of any pre existing internet demand in the house (TV/streaming/phones/Sonos system etc).
Whilst not ‘poor’ my wifi signal in the office was at best reaching 40.4mbps, sometimes as low as 25mbps (with an average of 32mbps). I therefore wanted to improve my internet speed to the computer and make it ‘immune’ to other wifi demands. Also ethernet connections are more stable – so I am less likely to ‘cut out’ in the middle of a meeting due to wifi fluctuations.
I therefore (after lots of research) went for the Devlo Lan 550+ kit – as I wanted 2 ethernet ports in the office. One for the computer, one for the Sonos/Ikea Symphonisk lamp. People go for the 1200 and 2400 untis – but you need to look at your internet connection speed. If like me you have 50mbps coming in – 550 is far above this! Having 1200+ would serve me no benefit.
The unit came, was simple to install (plug in, press pair button – ready!) and has consistently brought my speed up to an average of 50.2mbps. Considering I have a 50mbps BT Fibre package – this is a good result indeed. I ran multiple broadband speed tests (Ofcom), in different locations and at different times to validate the results.
I can conclusively say that by switching from wifi in my home office to ethernet via the Devolo LAN 550+ I have gained between 10-20mbps increase in internet speed. Objectively, consistently and validated via repeat testing.
Instructions are lousy. Reliability? The worst thing about these are the instructions hence the 3 stars for tech support. It would be a lot easier if they used words as well as pictures. It is quite hard to identify whether you should be doing something to the base unit or the satellites. Try You Tube that makes a lot more sense.
Secondly I have had a reliability problem with one of the satellites which had to be replaced they are not cheap and are becoming obsolete meaning that if another one fails in the future I will have to buy another whole system.
Good piece of ki These are very good for you to send your wifi around your house with no extra wiring, it uses the positive and negative wires in your electrical socket not like the BT ones only use the earth wire
Great Range & Well Made Yes, they’re more expensive than other WiFi adapters but having tried several others Devolo always seem to last the longest, give a good consistent range & can easily be updated (firmware) & you can use their ‘app’ to set up your home network & monitor each adapters performance & best position in your house or office. Well worth the extra cost.
Compatible with older DLAN 500 units but may have been over-specified for what I needed. As this is the one connected directly to the router just to support the other DLAN 500 units around the house, it didn’t actually need to be the wifi version. It has its own separate devolo-132 wifi identity. I probably only needed the Devolo dLAN 1200 Plus for the purpose which is 30 cheaper. It is the ‘next’ series after the 500, and is downwards compatible but doesn’t report in the same way using the Devolo Cockpit app.
Easy to Set Up & Works Well This Devolo Powerline Unit was used to connect a security camera to a remote router and to extend the WiFi into another building. The unit is working very well and was easy to set up. As we did not need to contact Devolo Technical Support, this is left unrated.
Great, until they stop working, then long process to restore all pairs These are fine, they work 99% of the time.
If you unplug one for an extended period of time then there is a problem, and the only way I have found of getting everything working together is to factory default all of them and then slowly re-pair all the devices. When you have 7 of these in your home then it is a time-consuming process that I’d rather do without.
Great product but is unlikely to deliver full speed on any Domestic circuit. This Devolo 1200 WiFi DLan network switch is a welcome addition to my legacy Devoo DLan network and has created a strong Dual band WiFi hotspot in a previously difficult region of the house.
I have 2 other 1200’s in my network and a mixture of 500’s and 200’s I am currently getting 800mb download from the office and 600mb upload speed from the new switch.
Devolo’s documentation for adding new DLan switches to an existing network, assumes that all your switches are of the same make, model and age. When adding a new switch into an existing mixed model network such as mine, you have to add the device through Devolo Cockpit. Something they neglect to say or document the procedure.
If you are an ‘old hand’ with Devolo the ‘add device’ procedure can be a bit hit and miss.
I recommend using the add by device ID name, which has never failed me yet.
Brillia These are great for a house with thick walls. We now have WiFi throughout the house.
We have a network of 4 of these including to get WiFi out to outside buildings, it works great and now I’ve set it up so each looks
Like the same network moving around is seamless
Not cheap but does the job Very good to boost the Wi-Fi signal around the house plus the ports are very handy.
Only 4 stars however as had an issue with Wi-Fi connectivity at first which was very frustrating. Didn’t use the support as figured out a firmware update was required. Once applied connectivity issues disappeared.
All in all these are nice bits of kit – certainly a step up from my old BT adaptors.
Develo Power Line LAN Adapte Easy to install (Plug and Play). It allows me to have WiFi around the house by using the develo 1200 plus as an additional WiFi Internet. This now allows me to move from Plusnet to develo and vice versa which ever has the strongest signal wherever I might be in my home.
Delivers good Wi-Fi I’ve used this to deliver Wi-Fi to a room that is distant from my ADSL router. Before using the dLAN 1200 + I used a Wi-Fi range extender but this needed a separate SSID and only gave half the bandwidth (as is typical for Wi-Fi range extenders). The dLAN 1200 + copied its settings from my Broadband router and hence has the same SSID and password so integrates seamlessly into the house Wi-Fi setup. Have been using this now for well over a month without any problems.
Great product. Does what it says on the tin. Not cheap but they are a robust and effective product. I have an old house (100y) with mixed new and old wiring and brick walls and have installed 4 of these from the basement to the loft. The WiFi reception is excellent and the speed from the devolo to my router is more than fast enough to ensure that only the actual broadband connection is a bottleneck(!) – i.e. not the power like network. Recommend these powerline WiFi extenders highly.
It doesn’t get much simpler to extend WIFI So simple to set up. Can highly recommend. Only disappointment is there seems no way to have a common password between similar units on the network, unless I have missed something.
Ideal for old houses. If you have an old house with 2 foot walls, then these works a treat. You also can mix the 1200 mbp/s with the 500 map/s units. If you have a laptop and want to use WiFi then get WiFi units you can also use wired LAN ports.
Have not had to use LAN support.
Extending the wifi into my garage was a breeze I already had a dLAN system in the house – to extend wifi into a room far from my home hub.
I was adding CCTV cameras in my garage but the existing wifi signal wasn’t strong enough.
By adding the Add-on Powerline Adapter I was able to set up a second wifi hub directly in the garage providing 100% wifi stability.
Great product, easy to set up and very happy with it.
Devolo adapters are really good I have 5 devolo adapters. All work really well. My router is located in the ground floor of my house and I can get a signal through my devolo set up in my attic. This is significant not only because of the distance involved but because the adapters are all on different circuits. I have tried other makes but they just didn’t work when connected to different ring circuits. I have a friend who has found this to be the case in his house too. I use them for internet connection for another computer elsewhere in the house (using an ethernet cable from the adapter to the computer) and for wifi connection throughout the house. I also use them to connect smart TVs and a blue ray player to the internet.
great piece of kit, easy to use, easy to install and strong wifi everywhere excellent products, started with the 200, then 500 and added 3 x 1200s for use at home and business, simply plug in, press the two wps buttons and off you go, uses the electricity circuit as hardline to then use a wifi booster, download the devolo cockpit app so as can see the network and configure each device if you want to change anything.
We have several older Devolo units and this paired immediately. Just remember to plug it in as close to your master home plug that accesses your router, wait about 45 seconds then press the pairing button on the master, then on your new device. I recommend the Devolo pilot app/software so you can reconfigure and name the device and change the password. Broadcasts in both 2ghz and 5ghz
They just work.,!! What more could you ask for. It just works.,,!
I’ve had so many different types of makes that constantly drop out or fail to connect after a while.
Then I found Devolo, I now have three of these around my house for the wi-fi and so my boys can connect their computers via dLAN connectors.
So easy to install and problem free, I would totally recommend them.
It works ! Purchased as a Home wi-fi system did not work with our thick stone walls. This by-passes the blockages and has worked well for the past month or so since delivery…
Now I have my laptop connected to the router through the socket and I have a brilliant wifi signal upstairs now as well for the phones ... I work from home a couple days a week upstairs at the back of the house and my wifi use to cut out a lot because the router is downstairs in the front room. Now I have my laptop connected to the router through the socket and I have a brilliant wifi signal upstairs now as well for the phones and the printer. Brilliant.
Easy to set up, super fast connection and wifi cloning feature allows seamless connectivity anywhere in the house Super easy to set up, provides almost the same connection speed as a direct connection with the router. Also the ability to clone with your wifi settings is an awesome feature as it allows you to boost the signal around the house all working from the same wifi password as your router, so your devices switch automatically to the strongest signal.
Probably the best there is, but still limited. This partially solved a problem. I was looking for the best possible powerline to provide wifi to a new garden room (around 50m of armoured SWA and on a seperate circuit to the sender. It had proved too much for a Netgear system. This just about did the job, but the signal is weak and intermittent at times. These Devolo usits are clearly superior to others and the distribution around the main house is amazing, but even it has limitations.
Easy and Excelle So easy to install and creates an excellent network around your house (and other buildings which run off the same power supply). Go on the devolo dashboard to create a single WiFi unit name and password.
Or just plug in (take a note of the WiFi code first) and let it connect. Really good piece of kit.
Great piece of kit for further extensions to domestic internet network I have used Devolo kit (Base unit and one extension in upstairs study) for some considerable time in our house which is a three floor Victorian with thick walls, so know how well the units work. With two children growing up the need for better in room internet reception inevitably grew, so investment in another Add-on was made.
Simple to install and enhanced reception easily achieved once coding settings between different units established.
Amazing This is very pricey, however, having said this, this is the best Powerline adapter I have ever brought. The internet on my computer has never been faster. The Wifi function on this is also great with a decent range. Would Recommend!
Easy to setup and it works well Easy to set up. I am using it in my garden room so it is going through two fuse boxes and about 50 yards, and I still get good speed, as well as in the house.
Have been a victim of poor internet. Especially when it comes to streaming/gaming Has done absolute wonders for the family.
Have been a victim of poor internet. Especially when it comes to streaming/gaming. I plugged this and one other one in to the sockets, set them up and then all of a sudden, internet issues and lag have disappeared.
The most fully configurable powerline wifi extender and the only one to fix my Wifi problem. Thanks Devolo At last – a powerline wifi extender that lets you use all the UK allowable 5GHz channels. 5G wifi was supposed to be free of interference, as it has short range, but if you are living close enough to someone else who is using the same channels as you, you still get interference and that means slow WiFi. I live in a house with a staircase across it with two brick walls, so I needed to use a powerline wifi extender to get a good signal in the other half of the house (router at the back of the house and powerline wifi unit for the front). The TP-link powerlines I have are great for TV as they have 3 ethernet ports for all my devices, but their powerline wifi extender is restricted to the same channels as my neighbours’ BT hub, so that was no good.
This Devolo unit allows you to use all the channels in the UK 5GHz bands (including the DFS ones) and seems to play nicely with my TP-link AV2 powerline units as well. so at last,,,,, Success – I’m now getting the full download speed that my fibre broadband supplies (62Mb), over wifi all over the house !!!
Thank you Devolo for providing access to all the 5GHz channels that the FCC has opened up for us in the UK.
Helps with the Wifi I was fed up with my supposedly modern router failing to provide a decent Wifi signal around the house. Now I have 3 dLan 1200+ all set up with the same network name so can now wander around the house, garage and garden and still have a signal. What it won’t solve is the poor internet access, despite fibre broadband, the whole system is only as good as the last half mile of copper wire which is a disaster – thanks BT for your lack of investment!
Easy and powerful - useful control software too. I needed to extend my wi-fi into a dead area in our house and this has done the job perfectly. Amazingly easy to set-up and produces a very powerful signal. I have four pieces of Devolo LAN equipment now and I can’t fault them.
Also comes with some very useful software which enables you to control them from your computer.
The whole set of adapters are fab! I wish I could be a Devolo tester!. These are fantatstic. They work straight out of the box. I also have the Devolo cockpit installed on my Mac. Which helps as well to update firmware or add devices. Superb and no hesitation in recommending this to others.
... and many of the guides suggested this is the best powerline on the marke I did a lot of research and many of the guides suggested this is the best powerline on the market. We had develo 500mbs before and these are noticeably quicker with fewer wifi drops too. The build quality is very nice and it they are simply plug n play. We bought the starter pack too because we wanted to have a strong connection in three rooms. I really like the fact it creates a wifi hotspot instead of just extending a weak signal. They are at the top end of the market but if want good internet and don’t want your wifi dropping all the time they are worth the money. Nothing worse than spending loads of money on a nice tv, mobile phone or computer only to have a rubbish internet connection at home.
This is an awesome bit of kit - brought this to expand my ... This is an awesome bit of kit – brought this to expand my existing Devolo home network – easy to use and transfer speeds are very fast I have whole house running at speeds between 500mbps – 1.1gbps. Would highly recommend this product over all other power line adapters
Best One Out There! Works Flawlessly! I’ve used devolo products for years now and the 1200+ is the best yet. Works great never had a problem
You can install multiple of them and chain them so you can configure all the settings from a single webpage served up by the adaptors.
You can set them to the same wifi SSID as you main router wireless if you have it enabled and devices switch between them seamlessly whichever has the strongest signal based on where you are.
For the nerdy too, the cockpit app is great for visualizing your network and seeing the speeds between each plug in a many-to-many graph.
Incredible! They just work, you're paying a bit ... Incredible!
They just work, you’re paying a bit more than you would for some of the other brands but the Devolo plugs haven’t let me down once over the years and you just get consistent speed.
Excellent purchase. These provide a really strong signal throughout the house and out in to the garden. Can get 177mbs off the Virgin Hub 2 and these are only slightly lower in a similar speed test. They generate a separate wi-fi network off the hub for each unit so don’t expect to use the same wi-fi network wherever you roam. Simply set your device to connect to the strongest signal automatically. Very impressed.
Easy to use Easy to set up and extend. Performance is good but large differences between different powerline devices on the same house ring main – up to 20%. All have the ability to stream Blu Ray discs.
Would be excellent if not for documentation errors Wasted too much time trying to follow the instructions.
The first problem is the minimal “Installation Guide” which came with the device incorrectly tells you to press the Home button to clone your pre-existing WiFi hotspot when it is the WiFI button that you should press. I then downloaded the full user guide from the web and that is correct on page 42, but repeats the error on pages 20 and 22.
Despite identifying this problem, I never managed to get the hotspot to clone with the WPS facility – perhaps a compatibility issue with the Virgin Superhub? In the end it was very easy to configure that manually using the web interface which I launched from the Cockpit Software.
Initial impressions are that the WiFi range is similar to that of the Virgin Superhub and the performance good (though nothing like 1200 speed… but then I am using it with a dLAN 500 at the router end.
Finally, seamless wifi extension!! After trying to extend my wifi with a number of wireless solutions which never proved satisfactory, this devolo 1200+ wifi AC has worked beautifully!
I already used a number of devolo mains network products from the old 200AV to the newer 500 and 650 mains units. Obviously you will need another devolo or mains network product to connect to this one from your router, but then the seamless cloning of your wifi details ( I use a DLink 868L router ) was so simple! All my devices transition seamlessly from the main wifi to the identical signal broadcast from this one. I also have an apple airport express connected to this unit via one of the Gigabit ports connected to a hifi in the same room. All works beautifully. The wifi from this unit covers the kitchen area and extends through the glass double glazed patio doors all the way to the end of our 90ft garden. So pleased to finally get a robust wifi extension solution. Recommended wholeheartedly if you can’t run a cable to where you need wifi. I would never try extending wifi using a wireless-only product in future.
Expensive but worth i Seemingly expensive but it does the job well – especially now that Devolo have the software better-sorted than in earlier slower versions. Easy to set up and use now. In a house where Wifi just won’t go easily from the router though the walls (a lot of our walls are stone) Devolo provides a quick and effective way to extend to numerous smaller sub-networks as required. Fast too. Recommended.
... (who needs words) and the cockpit software is so easy to use - childs Used Devolo before but wanted 1200 not 500 and this delivers if you set it up as per the manufacturers diagram (who needs words) and the cockpit software is so easy to use – childs play
Seamless After struggling for years with poor Wi-Fi reception in our house (lots of thick walls), even with a second router connected over wired Powerline adapters, we finally opted for these much more expensive Wi-Fi versions. We got the base set (wired + wireless) plus this add-on wireless adapter. The two wireless points share the same SSID and devices seamlessly transition between the two, and we now have full wireless coverage throughout the house. Very happy with them.
The management software for these works fine on Ubuntu 14.04 (there’s a .deb package to download and install), allowing you to add more devices to the network and configure their security settings.
Simple Setup - Faster Speeds Brilliant bit of kit, supporting decent much improved speeds, compared to the old setup. Used with a gigabit connection on the router and some older 200 Develo devices. They all work together seamlessly, though it was good to retire a couple of the older connections and make faster internet everywhere realistic.
The pass through works flawlessly, and the wireless is decently strong.
Currently the best homeplug wifi available Currently one of the best homeplug adaptors to bring wifi to all corners of your home.
You need to carefully consider where to place these devices for optimum effect, and remember that the further away from them you try to connect, the slower will be the data rate.
Much better than the TP-LINK AV1200's!!! Devolo is the only manufacturer selling AV1200 with Wifi! And the latest AC standard, at that! I’m usually a TP-LINK guy, having bought their powerline adapters since the AV200’s. I decided to add these to my existing powerline network since TP-LINK doesn’t do any wifi adapters for their AV1200 powerline adapters, so I opted for a pair of these instead of another pair of AV500 with the N wifi standard…..and my god these are amazing! I’m completely sold on these, will be moving away from TP-LINK and transforming to Devolo.
Well well worth the cost if you want to avoid lots of headache with all the other adapters out there!
Devolo 1200 dLAN products make a great home network! The dLAN 1200 Powerline network products are all good. Work well with dLAN 200 versions, and very fast.
High quality construction, plug and play.
These are the best components to build a home network easily around house wiring without fuss.
The dLAN 1200+ Wifi is also extremely fast offering WiFi everywhere in the house.
Choose these, and use Netgear 8 way unmanaged Gigabit switches off them if you need multiple network connections.
They work well with Devolo and very reliable.
Believe me – Devolo offer a high quality solution.
Great extende I bought this to extend the dLAN powerline set-up I already have. The whole system works extremely well, both as an ethernet connection for e.g. YouView box for the TV, but also as a WiFi extender. I found Apple’s Airport Extreme won’t play nicely with other systems, so when I switched to BT’s Infinity service and started using their hub, the Airport set-up basically went into a sulk. This has replaced it seamlessly, and the extender gives another hard wired ethernet option in an additional room for internet.
I will admit to messing up my network when I first added this into the system. (Something to do with pressing the wrong buttons on the wrong piece of kit at the wrong time…) However, I ended up re-setting the whole network (a very quick job), added in the extender by pushing the right button at the right time, and everything was fine again. Basically, if you set up the original network some time back, then it’s worth reading the instructions again just to make sure you remember what to do! It does run a bit warm, but I haven’t found this to be a problem.
Excellent reliability so far (in use for 5 months 24x7) I installed this starter pack so that I could add an IP camera to my network – the camera has wi-fi capability, but the installation location only has a weak signal. I picked the Devolo units because they have a reputation for higher reliability and quality than cheaper units from other manufacturers, and that seems to be borne out by my problem-free experience over the last 5 months.
The Devolo units are very easy to install and I’d hooked up my IP camera within a very few minutes. I also access the camera remotely on a regular basis and rarely have any issues connecting – the rare occasions when I can’t connect seem to be due to issues with the P2P connectivity of the camera, which is a bit flaky at times (although this has improved markedly of late). By the way, the IP camera that I have is the UCAM 1080p HD outdoor camera – have a look here if you’re interested: 1080p HD Wireless WiFi Outdoor Security Camera. All-in-one Home CCTV with Free Cloud Recording. Free iPhone, iPad and Android apps. 3 Steps Set-up, 15m Night Vision, Motion Sensor, Remote Playback DVR, ONVIF Ready. UCam247-HDO1080.
All in all, this was a good buy for me, but if you’re on a tighter budget then you could also look at similar offerings from TP-Llink, BT or Netgear (for example – there are several others that appear to be well-regarded). But do check the specs carefully as some of the Devolo standard features may be missing e.g. this one has 2 LAN ports and a pass-through socket for plugging in other equipment – some of the alternative units from other manufacturers only have one LAN socket and no pass-through capability. Search for “powerline” or “homeplug” to see what’s available.
I like it better now I purchased this to add to the starter kit I had just set up. I must admit to a lot of disappointment with this. I spend several hours trying to get this to integrate seamlessly into my existing network as I had been led to believe should have been possible, but the so-called WiFi Move technology just didn’t work for me. For instance, my existing Devolo 1200+ WiFi adapter is set up in my dining room, but my laptop was able to pick up the weaker signal from the unit at the top of the stairs. I had expected that when I moved my laptop into the dining room from upstairs, it would have immediately switched to the stronger signal (less than a metre away), but it didn’t. So the only effect of adding the new unit at the top of the stairs was to seriously degrade the signal in the dining room (the only workaround seemed to be to manually disconnect from the network and then reconnect, which would then cause the laptop to connect to the closest adapter). I tried a high-spec dual-band laptop as well and that behaved in exactly the same way. Not exactly automatic roaming. For this reason, I am sending the unit back and will just use the existing unit to supplement the signal at the back of my house and continue to use the router for the front of the house.
Update: After using this for a while, I’ve come to like it a lot more, so much so that I’ve purchased two more to cover other weak spots in my home and to make up for the weakness in my Epson printer’s Wi-Fi (it seems to need a stronger signal that most other devices). My son now has excellent dual-band Wi-Fi for his TV now as well, so everyone is happy. I’ve only dropped a star because the setup can be a bit fiddly, especially if using the buttons on the front of the units.
Good tip is to a speed check before you install ... Product does exactly what it says on the box. Noticed immediately the increase in speed when installed. Good tip is to a speed check before you install and do one afterwards. Only down side is they could be a little more compact.
The AC 1200 wifi was set up in 'clone' mode relatively easily, couple of attempts then it worked to clone ... ot normally a review poster but feel it should be done to balance the negative review…
I bought the wifi starter kit rather than the single device (and bought it elsewhere as Amazon didn’t have it in stock at the time)
I previously ran a 200 version product of Devlo, which was disconnected prior to setting up the new Devlo 1200 AC wifi…
The AC 1200 wifi was set up in ‘clone’ mode relatively easily, couple of attempts then it worked to clone basically the name and password from the Fritz! Box router that I have (also simultaneous dual band AC). You connect the master Devlo to the router by network cable and then plug directly (very importantly not into an extension, instead the mains socket then plug any extension into the Develo)…you then connect the secondary Develo into a nearby power cosket, sort the ‘clone’ aspect out then can unplug and move the secondary Develo anywhere else you want it…
My router is in the bottom corner of the ground floor with the secondary on the 1st floor and two rooms across…the signal is strong and connection good. Now I have a single wifi network (albeit dual band) around the house to which all devices will connect on either 2.4ghz or 5ghz bands…
As far as being compatible with older Devlo, the 200 model I have is also connected in the bedroom and hardwire connected to the network port of the tv, no issues whatsoever, literally plug and play.
Build quality? these boxes are solid and well built, I have no idea why anyone would state otherwise…
Price? pretty expensive so make sure you need plug through, AC and wifi…if not then there are various lower spec Develo models that would suffice…the main rub for me was the dual band simultaneous, AC and plug through…there is nothing else on the market that provides all of these.
One last point the downloadable Devlo Cockpit software is pretty neat allowing you to see the devices you have set up and how they are inter connected (speeds etc)
🙂
🙂
You have to set up clone in the near vicinity of your router then once set, you unplug the
Plug and play, good performance
These were a very straightforward install – literally plug them in and they work. The performance is very good and above all the stability is excellent, I’ve had no issues with them whatsoever so far.
Great piece of kit, easily to set up and has run relaibly since installatio
Great piece of kit, easily to set up and has run relaibly since installatio
Very easy to use.
They are very easy to connect and ready to use.
Plug and play
I have used Devolo products in the past – these D550 were a dream to install. Documentation was for the EU version and not that helpful, if I am being honest. However, there’s nothing to go wrong here and the product has 3 year warranty. Comes with 2x2metre ethernet cables (not indicated on the product description or the box) which is handy.
Make sure you set it up in the same room as an existing node
I have had a Devolo Dlan 1200 network for some years and it has worked absolutely flawlessly with speeds around 400MBps.
Good but big
These items are good but BIG.
Great devices, just need space.
I have been using the 1200+ starter kit for 5 years, from my ground floor office to my 3rd floor attic with zero issue’s.
Trusted manufacture
Bought this as initially tried a cheaper alternative from another company which just fidnt work. I knew having existing devolo products that they could be relied upon for quality. Worked straight away and very quick set up. Still working well months later. Allows my sons to play on 2 separate ps4s one on ethernet connection and other from wifi.
does what it says
Used as a way of bringing ethernet connection to various home cinema components, without running huge amounts of ethernet cable. Works well. I don`t use it for wifi, so can`t comment.
works well
works but took a few attempts to install as instructions could have been a lot clearer by mentioning colours and flashing you would see of the buttons involved when installing.
Retain Devolo 1200 Wi Fi originally deemed faulty
I originally bought the device and reset my Ethernet and wi fi networks.
Worked as advertised
I was worried that the fact that I wanted to use this on a different circuit at the other side of the house. And it worked as described – as advertised up/down speeds, fantastic
Full house seamless wifi coverage
I have 6 of these across the house and once setup work faultlessly. They can be sensitive to broadband interruptions but otherwise now much improved.
Disappointed I cannot mix with the new Devolo Magic units or more speed
I, like many, am now working from home in a makeshift home office.
Good piece of ki
These are very good for you to send your wifi around your house with no extra wiring, it uses the positive and negative wires in your electrical socket not like the BT ones only use the earth wire
Great Range & Well Made
Yes, they’re more expensive than other WiFi adapters but having tried several others Devolo always seem to last the longest, give a good consistent range & can easily be updated (firmware) & you can use their ‘app’ to set up your home network & monitor each adapters performance & best position in your house or office.
Easy to Set Up & Works Well
This Devolo Powerline Unit was used to connect a security camera to a remote router and to extend the WiFi into another building. The unit is working very well and was easy to set up. As we did not need to contact Devolo Technical Support, this is left unrated.
Great, until they stop working, then long process to restore all pairs
These are fine, they work 99% of the time.
Brillia
These are great for a house with thick walls. We now have WiFi throughout the house.
We have a network of 4 of these including to get WiFi out to outside buildings, it works great and now I’ve set it up so each looks
Like the same network moving around is seamless
Not cheap but does the job
Very good to boost the Wi-Fi signal around the house plus the ports are very handy.
Develo Power Line LAN Adapte
Easy to install (Plug and Play). It allows me to have WiFi around the house by using the develo 1200 plus as an additional WiFi Internet. This now allows me to move from Plusnet to develo and vice versa which ever has the strongest signal wherever I might be in my home.
Delivers good Wi-Fi
I’ve used this to deliver Wi-Fi to a room that is distant from my ADSL router.
It doesn’t get much simpler to extend WIFI
So simple to set up.
Extending the wifi into my garage was a breeze
I already had a dLAN system in the house – to extend wifi into a room far from my home hub.
I was adding CCTV cameras in my garage but the existing wifi signal wasn’t strong enough.
By adding the Add-on Powerline Adapter I was able to set up a second wifi hub directly in the garage providing 100% wifi stability.
Great product, easy to set up and very happy with it.
I have 5 devolo adapters. I also use them to connect smart TVs and a blue ray player to the internet.
great piece of kit, easy to use, easy to install and strong wifi everywhere
excellent products, started with the 200, then 500 and added 3 x 1200s for use at home and business, simply plug in, press the two wps buttons and off you go, uses the electricity circuit as hardline to then use a wifi booster, download the devolo cockpit app so as can see the network and configure each device if you want to change anything.
Simples!
Worked straight out the box.
Brilliant.
Easy to set up, super fast connection and wifi cloning feature allows seamless connectivity anywhere in the house
Super easy to set up, provides almost the same connection speed as a direct connection with the router.
Easy and Excelle
So easy to install and creates an excellent network around your house (and other buildings which run off the same power supply). Go on the devolo dashboard to create a single WiFi unit name and password.
Or just plug in (take a note of the WiFi code first) and let it connect. Really good piece of kit.
I have used Devolo kit (Base unit and one extension in upstairs study) for some considerable time in our house which is a three floor Victorian with thick walls, so know how well the units work. With two children growing up the need for better in room internet reception inevitably grew, so investment in another Add-on was made.
Simple to install and enhanced reception easily achieved once coding settings between different units established.
Mission accomplished!
Amazing
This is very pricey, however, having said this, this is the best Powerline adapter I have ever brought. The internet on my computer has never been faster. The Wifi function on this is also great with a decent range. Would Recommend!
Easy to setup and it works well
Easy to set up. I am using it in my garden room so it is going through two fuse boxes and about 50 yards, and I still get good speed, as well as in the house.
Have been a victim of poor internet. Especially when it comes to streaming/gaming
Has done absolute wonders for the family.
Have been a victim of poor internet. Especially when it comes to streaming/gaming. I plugged this and one other one in to the sockets, set them up and then all of a sudden, internet issues and lag have disappeared.
Would highly recommend.
At last – a powerline wifi extender that lets you use all the UK allowable 5GHz channels.
Helps with the Wifi
I was fed up with my supposedly modern router failing to provide a decent Wifi signal around the house.
Superb and no hesitation in recommending this to others.
... and many of the guides suggested this is the best powerline on the marke
I did a lot of research and many of the guides suggested this is the best powerline on the market.
Just buy it!
Easy to use
Easy to set up and extend. Performance is good but large differences between different powerline devices on the same house ring main – up to 20%. All have the ability to stream Blu Ray discs.
Would be excellent if not for documentation errors
Wasted too much time trying to follow the instructions.
Expensive but worth i
Seemingly expensive but it does the job well – especially now that Devolo have the software better-sorted than in earlier slower versions. Easy to set up and use now. In a house where Wifi just won’t go easily from the router though the walls (a lot of our walls are stone) Devolo provides a quick and effective way to extend to numerous smaller sub-networks as required. Fast too. Recommended.
... (who needs words) and the cockpit software is so easy to use - childs
Used Devolo before but wanted 1200 not 500 and this delivers if you set it up as per the manufacturers diagram (who needs words) and the cockpit software is so easy to use – childs play
Seamless
After struggling for years with poor Wi-Fi reception in our house (lots of thick walls), even with a second router connected over wired Powerline adapters, we finally opted for these much more expensive Wi-Fi versions.
Simple Setup - Faster Speeds
Brilliant bit of kit, supporting decent much improved speeds, compared to the old setup. Used with a gigabit connection on the router and some older 200 Develo devices. They all work together seamlessly, though it was good to retire a couple of the older connections and make faster internet everywhere realistic.
The pass through works flawlessly, and the wireless is decently strong.
Currently the best homeplug wifi available
Currently one of the best homeplug adaptors to bring wifi to all corners of your home.
Great extende
I bought this to extend the dLAN powerline set-up I already have.
I installed this starter pack so that I could add an IP camera to my network – the camera has wi-fi capability, but the installation location only has a weak signal.
I like it better now
I purchased this to add to the starter kit I had just set up.
Only down side is they could be a little more compact.
ot normally a review poster but feel it should be done to balance the negative review…
