Replaced my solar panel controller with this MTTP controller and it’s definitely providing more power to my battery would highly recommend

I can’t big this up enough, it’s just exactly what I’ve been looking for, used loads of PWM controllers and this blows them away

Excellent piece of kit ,easy set up. Well built, fitted three weeks ago, working well even in dull days . 150w Pv both work well and keeps battery topped up.

so I’m an amatuer finding his way into creating an off grid installation to provide around 25% of my total home energy usage, I first tried the Renogy Rover equivalent to the Epever40 amp charge controller, and was never happy with it from the very start from installation to use I had no confidence in that units ability to do as claimed, the epever however was a completely different story, easy to install and work with, still has a rubbish manual but then I’ve not seen a decent manual for any electrical device for many years now, they all seem to tell you what to do but not how to do it these days, because I’m learning all this stuff from scratch my 24 volt installation contains a lot of monitoring stations between every process from PV’s through to and after inverter so I can see exactly what is happening with any applied energy (voltage drops, current flows and any reaction to changes of loads and energy supply) the Rover unit seemed slow to react to anything often sitting there trickiling 1.5 watts of energy into half discharged 200ah batteries despite the fact I knew there was at least 200 watts of energy on tap from the PV’s available (very frustrating) while the epever filled me with confidence as it seems to know exactly what to do with the available energy at any time and immidiately, if its there it gets used reacting to any changes of loading either applied to load outputs or off the batteries, likewise if the batteries arnt fully charged the epever puts as much as the batteries will accept into them, if at 7am at day break my 200ah of storage is 50% discharged by midday the epever has charged them to 100% even on a cloudy day, on a sunny day if I demand more power via a load then the epever makes sure I get it if the PV’s are willing, the Renogy would still be muling it over after the sun has gone down, I have only 1 complaint about the epever hence the missing 5th star, why am I forced to buy another device and / or download apps that I may or may not get to work so that I have full control over it? is that some kind of scam to squeeze more money out of their customers? because I’ve never come across any other product type where I have to buy more devices to control the device I have already paid for, there is no other logical reason for it but seems to be a trend not only for epever’s charge controllers but others to including other devices used for home solar stations, even victron do it for their equipment, but no excuse I’m still dropping a star for it as all the features epever advertise this charge controller to have are simply not true unless you spend more money on more equipment, this costs more than the Renogy Rover but worth every single penny, for starters it actually works and reacts to changes rather than spend ages debating with itself what the next move is, the MT50 add on is a must have to get the best out of this charge controller so include that as part of its cost so you know what it costs for a working albeit good charge controller, only other very minor gripe is the terminals could be bigger on the 40 amp unit for those that want to use over sized cables for added safety and less resistance in their wiring, but otherwise its a good solid charge controller that works well and gives you the confidence that when you walk away from it it will continue to do its thing safely and properly

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA little Concerned when it was first switch on. Smelt little burn smell.right hand bottom corner For about 5 minutes. But all seems great. Excellent really happy with it only been a week but it much much easy to understand whats actually going on. With my 4 x 320 solar panels. And 6 x 6v trojan 225ah batteries. On my narrowboat.

Used for our boat for an oversized (for size of boat) solar panel, works really well.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI now have two of these controllers
one 40A and one 30A as i have upgraded my panels
and the 40A was running flat out all the time.
I find these controllers very good at what they do
my input voltage from the pv array is 72 volts and when the panels are
producing 5 amps the charge controller is outputting around 20 – 25 amps
to the batteries. I have had the 40 Amp for around 6 months now and it has worked
hard to keep up with my demand but has been faultless in it’s operation
    VERY IMPRESSED

I was extremely impressed with this purchase, it was an upgrade from a small one that I had in a kit and it has made a noticeable difference to the daily intake.
Very user friendly and I especially like the controller which is also a bonus from my last one.
For the money it punches above its weight and has similar functions to more expensive brands.
    Would definitely recommend

The instructions are a bit vague but actually it’s working like a treat. Good bit of kit.

Easy to fit and far better than the pulse charge ones. And with the display you can see what is being put in your battery.

after reading up on the differences between mppt and pwm controllers I feel I bought the best of the two but thats my own personal decision so do not take my word for it although it works very well for me, MPPT any day for me and I am very happy with this product.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt’s a good controller giving me good amps from my panels.
The MT50 gives good detail of the charging rates too.
You can certainly notice where the extra cost has gone compared to cheaper charge controllers and I would deffinately recommend it.
