Fellowes Paper Shredder for Home Office Use – 10 Sheet Cross
Fellowes Paper Shredder for Home Office Use – 10 Sheet Cross Cut Shredder for Home and Office Use – Deskside Shredder with 22 Litre Bin – Powershred 60Cs – High Security P4 – Black
Paper Shredde Ideal for home office use where you have a relatively large amount of shredding. The large 22 litre bin is a big plus as many shredders have a much smaller capacity.
The most important thing to know is that it hasn't broken down yet. This is the first time I have bought a higher-priced shredder. It is working well after about a month’s use.
ather flimsy and topheavy The main body is lightweight plastic. The shredder head sits on top and is quite heavy. The wheels are small, so that when you try to wheel it from one location to another it topples over very easily.
Not as robust as the Fellowes shredder I had before, but seems to shred OK and is quite quiet. Whether it lasts as long remains to be seen.
A good solid home use shredde This is a good solid shredder for home use, it can easily cope with multiple sheets and is a leap up from the one we replaced which finally gave up the ghost. Its a Which best buy so no surprize that this is a good machine.
Does what is supposed to do Only had it a couple of weeks and has not had a lot of use. It seems to work as expected but not had it long enough to give 5 starreview, but so far so good!
Very useful purchase This is one of those purchases where I was looking at the price for a long time and debating whether it was worth it. Let’s face it…. It expensive, even on sale.
That being said, compared to my much cheaper, entry level shredder also from Fellowes, this product is on a completely different level where I can understand some of the cost difference.
My smaller shredder would jam with more than two sheets of paper in it. A staple would stop it shredding the rest of the sheet and it would need unblocking every half hour or so.
This one I shredded about 6 months worth of junk in at least 1/4 of the time of the smaller one with zero jamming at all. I even put stuff in it that I was sure was going to jam and it didn’t stop…. Honestly its pretty scary how effective it is. I put cardboard in the thing and it went through. I put plastic cards into it with no issue. I even put through entire envelopes with the rubbish from TV licencing inside, still sealed and it didn’t even flinch.
The bin also holds a fair amount. I had to empty it twice for 6 months worth of collected junk (around 60-80 letters and flyers). The deposited paper is small strips, extremely safe and almost impossible to rebuild. Definitely safe enough for confidential office use. Noise wise, it’s about the same as every other shredder you have likely heard. It’s not quiet but you can hear yourself talk over it but if you are using a phone nearby it’s definitely heard on the other end.
Obviously this price point means it’s still a ‘nice to have’ product but I can honestly say there’s nothing more I would ask for from this product.
Not quite as expected The advert gave the impression that it’s packaging was damaged and that there were some scratches on the surface. These l thought were caused by the damage to the packing. This is not the case. This has obviously been used and l can only guess mistreated. Not really worth the few pounds difference to a new one. Having said that,it appears to work .
Great but as it never arrived I had to purchase one from Curry’s and found it to be great. Never received it as after much chasing was forced to cancel.
Decent little shredde Bought to replace a very old 6 sheet shredder that had given up. It handles a decent number of pages (although 10 sheets is probably pushing it, particularly with heavier weight paper). It handles staples if you’ve forgotten to take them out too.
The safety feature that detects your hand is near the lid can be a bit annoying and can trigger if a page being shredded flops over, but better safe than sorry I guess.
Good shredder, safety bar a bit too sensitive The shredder works well, and the bin size is ideal – not too large but also I’m not needing to empty it all the time with light use.
The only change that would make this 5 stars is to improve the “safe sense” safety bar. This is too sensitive and means the shredder will sometimes turn off when my hands are nowhere near. For example if the paper is slightly too humid, or I’m holding the paper with my hand – the shredder will sense the conductivity and turn off. The best resolution for this is that I left the paper to dry out overnight before shredding.
Unfortunately this safety feature can’t be turned off, so I just have to wait.
Good Capacity and Build Purchased to replace previous Fellowes shredder which had lasted for many years. This is a good size for domestic use and does not take up a great deal of space even though the capacity is good. Safety features are good and therefore safe to have with children around. I hope it lasts as long as my last one!
Sturdy and reliable produc I am currently satisfied with the product. It is a quiet and efficient shredder. I would have liked to give a follow up review in 3 months. This review is based on one week’s use of the product. The only downside is the lack of a user manual. I had to go to the product manufacturer to register and review the manual. There were no instructions from the manufacturer to do this.
Well pleased A very good quality branded item that far exceeds the capability of my (still working) cheaper shreader. It is well worth paying the extra for something that will last and perform well. Having previously owned shreaders for over 25yrs I was never before aware of the need to constantly lubricate the cutters until this one – budget in the cost of special oil.
Useful additio Easy to use, however, I’d make the following observations:-
Be careful not to shred too much at a time, about 5 minutes is fine so shredder doesn’t get too hot, and don’t put more than a couple of pages thickness through at at time.
Check regularly that the shredded pile in the bin doesn’t reach the blades – push the cone of accumulated shredding down
Don’t let the bin get too full before emptying and each time bin was emptied trickled a little oil across blades as instructed in the manual
Have owned a Fellows shredder before, well made and with careful treatment last for years!
Works for a long time before needing to cool down. This is our second shredder. The new Powershred went for 30 – 40 minutes before stopping to cool down. Compare this with about 3 minutes for our older shredder.
Supposed to wait 20 minutes to cool down, but we found 10 minutes was sufficient. We filled three really big bin liners in an hour with the Powershred. Compared to half of one of the same bin liners in four hours with our older machine. It won’t work if your fingers get too close to the slot.
We had no jams at all.
Despite what other reviewers have said, with the window on the front one CAN see the extra large bin filling up with shreds. They probably did not wait long enough before emptying the bin. The window is at the top so one only sees the shreds when they get right to the top. Due to the size of the collector bin, extra large bin bags are recommended to allow the collecting bin to empty straight into the bin bag.
We made sure to oil both our machines this time. Neither machine jammed on this occasion. Our older machine has some paper compacted in the middle so we have to fold documents in half to shred them.
I gave no mark for ‘Sheerness’ because I don’t know what it means in this context. To me it means either ‘the measure of a slope’ or ‘the name of a town in Kent’.
Sturdy, functional shredde Does exactly what it says on the tine. I’ve only had it a few weeks but it is sturdy and has a safety feature to prevent any accidents, as well as reverse function. Good size to store a decent amount of paper and looks quite sleek as well. Only thing I would say is the motor is quite loud, but it’s a shredder so who cares that much right? Solid purchase 5*
DOES THE JOB This is the 2nd Fellow powershred 60c I’ve bought, had 4 1/2 years out of the first one and was very pleased with it. I run a one person business and it was very good given the amount of use it had. Handles the amount of paper well and more then happy to repurchase the same item. Good capacity in bin size for shredder.
4.0 out of 5 stars Functional shredde Overall a good shredder though struggles with more than 3 to 4 pages at a time.
The running time before needing to cool down is around 10 to 15 minutes
Third Fellows machine I’ve had 3 of these machines for casual shedding.
They are reliable but I notice that they need oiling, something not seen before.
Also you have to get on your hands and knees to tell whether they need emptying, another first.
I would say the latter is a no no.
Fellowes Shredding Machine Good item , works as described but only thing I would of liked is for the shredder to be able to shred more paper in one go. It gets jammed quite easily when too much paper is fed through. Had hoped that a heavy duty shredder could handle more paper in one go.
Other than this, it does the job, has an auto shut off system when the motor gets too warm … Will restart once the motor has cooled down.
works well, shame about the ergonomics Excellent shredder, does the job well, not too noisy, looks good but some odd design points and it’s just not designed right unless you are not going to move it . The on/off switch is tucked away at the back and the panel at the top of the bin which should let you see how full it is, is so dark it’s useless. Lifting the top off is difficult – no finger places and it is very heavy but the worst thing is trying to lift the whole thing – the smooth design of the bin gives nothing to get hold of. All these sorts of shredders (this is my third, I’m hoping it is more robust than its predecessors – so far so good) are top heavy but this one seems to have been designed primarily to look good . its fine if you just put it in the corner in an office but not so good if you want to move it about or tuck it into a cupboard at home.
I am a syndicated Certainly better from previous shredder that I had. Time will tell whether it reflects value for money. The two previous shredders I have had certainly did not reflect value for money. Consequently I explored a different brand name. In the long terms I fear this will be the same as its predecessors. Not made to reflect value for money.
Protect your privacy I had to replace my Fellowes Powershred after only 2 years and this new one seems rather better and very much quieter. I am so far very pleased with this purchase and have to say that this Fellowes Powershred seems a lot more sturdy than other similar machines I have used.
10aheets to chips at a time. No bother! A good solid shredder that does what’s advertised – ‘shreds’ up to 10 sheets at a time. Though actually this machine chips the paper up. More secure & waste takes up less space. Would have been 5 stars but what I take to be a safety feature got in the way. I tend to save up my shredding for too long and want to shred straight into a bin liner to avoid emptying too often. This model won’t start unless it is sitting on its own bucket. Don’t let that put you off buying one though.
Safe and easy to use For domestic use, the shredder has so far proved efficient and reliable. It has not yet tripped out to prevent itself overheating caused by prolonged use – probably because the number of sheets offered are not excessive and the boredom of shredding for long periods of time means I stop after about 10 minutes and then return later. Also I don’t let a huge pile of stuff build up – just shred as the material presents itself. Was concerned the machine may look large in a small study but it fits neatly under the desk and is easy to pull out for easier access to the feeder slot.
Good value, excellent security cutting but loud and struggles with many sheets Tough shredder, and cross shredding makes for excellent security. A bit loud, and does struggle when putting in over 6 sheets. I think I put 11 sheets in and almost broke within a few minutes of using it. Emptying is a bit of a pain as you have to take the heavy shredder part off that’s sits on the bin. But it does the job, and is a good price.
Haven't tried shredding credit cards yet but have no reason to believe anything less in a good performance. At this price I woul Bought in an exchange for a slightly cheaper shredder which had not performed well. This Fellows Powershred hitherto has fully met my needs occasionally struggling with the 10 sheets capacity advertised. I therefore confine mine to around 6 with which it copes very well. Run time and cooling time is comparable to others in this price range. Haven’t tried shredding credit cards yet but have no reason to believe anything less in a good performance. At this price I would certainly recommend it.
Powerful machine Powerful shredder that operates quickly and takes a good number of sheets. Easy to empty. I knocked a point off as I wished it had a window in the front. My last shredder had a window and you could clearly see how full it was getting. This has a warning light but you dont know that it is getting full until the light comes on. Powerful and heavy. Like it very much.
Fast and nimble I purchased this to replace an old cheap and cheerful shredder I had at home, it was useless at bulk shredding.
This fellows unit is a revelation by comparison. It’s very fast, chomps though paper and card like its life depends on it. The only thing it won’t eat are CD’s.
Having small children in the house I was impressed with the dual power switches, there is a master on/off at the rear, and a mode switch at the front. Coupled with the safety cutout finger protection on the aperture, I’m confident my kids are safe. Though I do still unplug it between use.
It is a touch noisy, but then find me one that isn’t.
Excellent value for money. Our old shredder would keep getting jammed up if you did not empty it as soon as the paper got near the cutter and it also kept stopping after 3/4 minutes and we had to wait 15 minutes plus to cool down. As we were moving and had an excessive amount of shredding to do we decided to purchase a new on and we are so glad we did this unit is unbelievable.
I was able to shred for over 3 hours and it did not overheat once I did not put more than 2/3 sheets at one time just in case but it performed superbly I ended up with two very large black bags full. The only small complaint I have was that you cannot see the paper level as the screen is to dark but I just checked it every few minutes to make sure that it was not to full.
Buy it Brilliant Shredder! Old Shredder broke after intensive use so needed a shredder quickly saw this and took a gamble but reviews seemed to be very good. This is the best shredder I have ever had and have had a few! Most don’t last more than 2 years and normally about 12 months. As soon as you take it out of the box you know it is a quality product. It shreds 6 pages at a time easily the product just eats the paper and thicker types no problem. Cards are easily despatched as well. Wish I had bought this ages ago , got a great deal on Amazon as well! Buy it you will not be disappointed!
A cut above So far, this has chewed it’s way through a significant part of my backlog of shredding. It’s definitely a step up from shredders I’ve had in the past – it eats 6-8 sheets no bother, and hasn’t had to pause to cool down despite near continuous use for an hour or so. The only criticism I can offer is that the viewing window is darkened to the extent that I can’t see through it. Otherwise, I’m pretty impressed after day 1 – if it keeps going like this then it’s worth the extra few quid to step up and I would recommend wholeheartedly for anyone looking for a personal or home office shredder.
AT LAST A SHREDDER FIT FOR THE JOB!! I think this is fabulous! My precious Rexel shredder is a total pain in the butt even though it wasn’t a little Micky mouse model! I’d do some shredding and very quickly it was cut out and I’d have to wait for ages for it to reset. I had a massive bag of old statements that needed shredding and I’ve been put off doing it because it is such a palaver until now. I saw this on QVC for about 60 approx plus around 7 p&p and thought it looked good but wanted to see if I could get a better price. It looked really good in the video munching through loads of paperwork with ease so when I found the exact same model in Amazon Warehouse for 32.01 I thought I’m going to have that.
Admittedly the box was a little battered and bruised and taped up but the shredder itself was in perfect new condition and I no longer have a big bag of shredding to do because I did it all without it cutting out once! The box is now in the recycling bin and I’ve saved myself 27.98 off Amazon’s normal price of 59.99 – I am very happy 🙂
The shredder shreds very quickly chopping the pages into little tiny bits. It is slower if you shred more pages but I think this is brilliant! My old Rexel one is now in the bin where it deserves to be.
Performs well
Using this shredder for my home office, it performs very well, doing a great efficient job.

Fellowes Paper Shredde
IT IS BRILLIANT, I CAN’T WAIT UNTIL I CAN USE IT SO I CAN SHRED MY UNWANTED MAIL ETC
Great but as it never arrived I had to purchase one from Curry’s and found it to be great.
Never received it as after much chasing was forced to cancel.
First impressions
Looks quite smart; lift-off head much heavier than my previous Fellowes; rather noisy. No problems shredding to date.
5.0 out of 5 stars shredde
a great shredder had one before which lasted 4 years of office use .
