I do not think this would shred 8 pages at a time as described. It sounds like it is struggling with 2 or 3 pages. I have noticed that you frequently have to put the blades into reverse to ensure they don’t get clogged up. If you have a lot of shredding I wouldn’t recommend this shredder. I don’t have a lot so am happy to put single sheets through and it is working fine.

This shredder OK for occasional home use. Not very powerful reallyy struggles wit 4 sheets. Cannot do 8 as advertised.

This shredder cuts paper ,credit cards , staples etc. and cuts fine to give secure shredding . The shredded paper also makes good , soft bedding for our cockatiels cage .

This replaced a very old Fellowes shredder. It is quiet, efficient and reliable – well worth the money.

Got this form my home office and other than being a little more expensive than I had planned for but I am really happy with it.
It does exactly what it says and is easy to use.
I like the lock on it as I have a 3 year old so it is always locked when it’s not in use.

After reading lots of reviews I decided to purchase this shredder because it had the least negative comments. I have used it twice now and am very pleased with the cutting process, the paper is shredded really small. It hasn’t over heated after being used for 20 minutes each time so I am pleased about that. My only gripe is that all little pieces of paper are left in the roller blades which is a nightmare to get out, I have tried to reverse the roller and it still doesn’t get them out, the pieces are so small it is difficult to pull them out with my hands.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersIt appears to work quite well, which is a relief considering some of the reviews out there. As others have said, trying 8 sheets at a time is not recommended, however it probably means it is more powerful than the 6C, which can nominally only handle 6 and is about the same price. It also has a two year guarantee, as opposed to the one year the 6C has.

I shredded about a ream and a half of old bank statements in two sessions and I’m pleased to say it didn’t overheat once. I mostly fed the pages one or two at a time because there are two important things to watch for:

Do NOT let the bin get full or it will back up into the shredder and block it. Give it an occasional shake to compact the paper shreds.

Also, watch for strands getting wrapped round the cutting blades. If this happens, check there is no build up on the under side. Press reverse for a couple of seconds – this seems to loosen them, then ‘tease’ the shredder with a new sheet by putting it in enough to activate the mechanism but not far enough for it to take the sheet. This should be enough to clear the blades.

Two final things: There may be a piece or two of shredded paper in the box. This doesn’t mean it is a returned item. There is a note in the box that explains that the units are tested in the factory and that paper shreds may be present. Lastly, the box itself is a bit feeble. If buying from Amazon, you should see a tick box that says something like ‘this box reveals what’s inside. Tick here to have it packed in another box.’ Choose this option to prevent accidental damage in transit.

The only hiccup for me was that advice is given not to use extension leads. I don’t have many wall points in my home. However, the shredder works well for me.

Love it, gets through all my shredding in no time. Has a light indicator when it needs a rest. Gets through credit cards no problem. Does what it says on the tin.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersHow do you choose a good shredder? I read all the reviews and there’s not 1 with full 5 star. All seem to complain about them giving up after a short while or jamming no matter what price you pay. I went for this one as is was mid priced. When I 1st used it I was extremely pleased with using it consistently until the bin was full. When I emptied it there seemed to be a lot of paper caught in the shredder which I pulled the excess out out with my hand, sprayed the cutter with some WD40 and shredded 1 sheet of paper through and all was clear. I’ve never had to do this with previous shredders but there seems to be a lot on the market that recommend this.
I carry out this procedure every time I’ve finished with it which is not a big deal. On the whole I would recommend this shredder.

Was a bit worried after reading some recent reviews for personal shredders. My old Fellowes shredder finally bit the dust after more than 10 years so this replaced it. Very pleased with it. Very quiet. Also acquired some shredder oil – lack of that may have contributed to the eventual demise of the old one. Word to the wise: if you are shredding ‘War and Peace’ the bin will fill up quickly so empty it frequently or the shredder blades will jam. Simples. If you find the temperature light comes on perhaps you should consider an upgrade to a professional (office) shredder.

Bought this as a replacement of our old strip shredder. I went for a cross shedder for more sercurity. No problems shredding bank card. Last about 4 mins constantly shredding before it stops to cool down. I have this in the kitchen and use it everytime we need something shredding instead of letters and junk mail piling up.

Does a nice job of shredding into 3-4cm long pieces about 0.5cm wide. Credit cards also eaten up without drama. Gets a little clogged unless you oil it regularly. Do not reverse the direction if heavily clogged as it will end up jammed. Watch you fingers if you are removing excess shredded paper when clogged, as the blades are very sharp. The shredder will not work if not correctly seated on its hopper, so a good safety feature, but of course turn it off before attempting to clear any blockage.

My old Fellows Shredder began getting very noisy after well over ten years of service, they do make quality products.

The only thing letting the new shredder down is the plastic waste bin. The old one was a sturdy wire mesh, the new one is a flimsy plastic which makes the unit noisier in operation (a drumming sound) and probably won’t fill as well due to lack of ventilation. Also I hope it will last as long as the old one.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI was expecting to be able to put more sheets through than my previous one did, but it choked a bit on just four. I needed a new one and a friend had a Fellows and was very pleased with it. There are so many on the market, it is so hard to choose, but for just an everyday shredder rather than a huge backlog, this one is fine.

I must have been shredding non stop for an hour to clear my backlog before it started to overheat a little – then simply leave it 30 mins and its back to normal working perfectly well – more than adequate for your home or small office use – would recommend

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersI have just received this shredder. On the first use seems really good actually and it is worth purchasing the oil to use in between shredding for the blades. The noise level is really low compared to other shredders and great safety features. I only gave it a 4 star because its quite hard to manoeuvre it as I store it in a cupboard rather than in a fixed place. It would have been good if it had a handle, perhaps on the bin. Other than that so far so good and it was delivered very quickly too!
