An incredible piece of machinery
I was in two minds about requesting this as, although I haven’t used a Flymo strimmer before, I have used two low-range Flymo mowers which I was really, REALLY unimpressed by.
However, this has been an absolute pleasure to use and turned out to be a really good quality product that just really works very well.
What’s really great about this is that while it is electric, the onboard battery lasts long enough to do the entirety of edging around my property, all with no wires and no worsening of the air quality!
Assembly is quick and easy as there’s only a few parts that slot together, and then turning it on just requires a button and trigger squeeze.
I love that it is electric as I have recently been borrowing a neighbour’s petrol strimmer, which requires 5-10 minutes of pumping fuel and yanking a cord before it turns on, which is exhausting, so I am super happy to be able to easily run this machine.
Charging takes a little while, but it’s OK as you usually won’t need to use this for extended periods, and it is more than enough for a reasonable-sized area.
At 165 it is obviously not a cheap option, but is definitely worth the investment if you need a great build quality product that will probably last more than 10 years of regular use.
Not bad
This is certainly a well made, good quality, strimmer. It’s easy to assemble and comes with the battery part charged and the battery charger is part of a co-operative that can be used with Flymo, Bosch and Gardenia batteries amongst others. I tried it out on a nearby footpath which was becoming overrun with tough grass and weeds. I found it worked very well, cutting down grass, nettles and some young thistles without any problems. It was very easy to extend the cord too. However, I found it very heavy to use and after about ten minutes use I was fading fast. I’ve tested 3 strimmers recently and this was by far the heaviest and probably at least as heavy as an old mains powered heavy duty one I’ve got. If you don’t think the weight’s going to be a problem then this is a really good quality strimmer that’ll deal with all but the thickest weeds. However, if you just need something to trim the edge of the lawn and cut down a few weeds this is probably more than you’ll need, although it does seem likely to last for many a year.
Very pleased
Lightweight, easy to assemble and operate. Auto trim feed is very convenient and does a great job in trimming lawn edges. I use a Worx trimmer as well but found it to be very hard on the garden patio chipping it away. The Flymo trimmer is a lot forgiving and does not damage the patio. The batteries retain enough charge to go over my front and back lawns. Very pleased with the Flymo trimmer.

What a treat to get to review 2 different Flymo cordless products.
Let me start by saying that this strimmer works very well, so convenient not to have cables trailing around all over the place. And so portable too!
Although not heavy for most at 2.5 k. I still found it a bit difficult due to my arthritis I couldn’t use it for extended periods of time . But I have to acknowledge that my son had a go and he was amazed at just how effective it is.
It’s Suitable for any size garden or area that would be difficult to reach with a mower. You have the freedom to trim anywhere given the lack of cables.
The strimmer requires putting together as it comes in parts but it doesn’t take long to do.
I was going to take the cordless lawnmower to cut the grass at the cemetery but I think I’ll take this instead. So much more convenient.

Excellent quality and a versatile strimmer - easy and light to use.
I wanted a grass trimmer for the edges of my lawn. I’ve got an electric mower for the bulk of the grass but there are always bits and pieces that need extra attention. I needed to use the strimmer a couple of times before I got used to it. Learning to hold it properly and at the right height rally helps. Comfortable to hold but the handle isn’t adjustable which is another reason you need to try it out before you go crazy. Battery and charger are included and one charge lasts more than long enough to cope with removing the grass edges all around the lawn without a second charge. The strimmer can be used flat for ordinary mowing or tilted onto its side for edging and, for me, that’s a real plus. Dispenses the line automatically and so there’s a continual thread and it seems quite tough and resilient. I don’t have any negatives in fact it’s a real plus for the garden and the overall quality is excellent.
Exactly what I wanted
I can’t tell you how exciting I was to order one of these. Cutting lawn edges with a handheld trimmer takes so long, it’s backbreaking and just down right annoying. I was so glad to receive this, it was super easy to set up most things clipped together easily and the battery is easy to charge doesn’t take too long either.
I really appreciate the adjustable height as my partner and I both have bad backs and the choice of angle of cutting is excellent. This has saved hours of edge trimming for us and I’m so grateful!
Quality build and light to use
I’ve used a few Flymo products over the years and they’ve all given good service. My previous strimmer was a corded Flymo but I found the cord a nuisance and the strimmer was heavier and bulkier than this one. I I have a shoulder problem, so using anything heavy can cause pain. This strimmer is ideal.
It’s well made and even though the handle isn’t adjustable, I found it comfortable to use. It’s supplied with a battery and charger pack and although the battery is only a 2Ah, I found it did all my edges and the border along the outside front of the property on a single charge. I’d say it’s great for a small or medium sized garden and strumming the edges certainly makes the garden look good.
The line is spool feed and the line itself managed Young dock and a few brambles, so it seems strong. Replacement reels are easily sourced and easy to place. This unit has a read out on the handle which shows how much battery power is remaining. That’s useful and not a feature I’ve seen on all cordless models. Comes with a three year warranty and as the price includes a battery and power pack it’s good value. Built to last and I’m happy to recommend.
Nice lightweight strimmer for light to medium use
Arrives in four parts (plus the battery and charger).
Easy to put together – all push fit or twist fit – though getting the wheel to click into place even, when lined up properly, took a couple of goes.
Battery charges quickly and last pretty well, with a battery level indicator to show how much charge is left.
As a lightweight strimmer it works well for light to medium garden duties – strimming grass from awkward spots and edging lawns nicely, but it’s a bit underpowered for brush clearing, for example.
It sits in Flymo’s mid range, though, so this is to be expected and is not a criticism.
The design of the handle has been well thought out and it’s easy to hold and swing. There is a protrusion on the front so that you can take the strain a bit with a second hand on longer jobs.
All in all very good. The freedom of being battery powered is welcome, even if it does mean it’s a bit underpowered when compared with a mains or petrol strimmer.
Another great flymo produc
This lightweight electric strimmer lives up to the usual quality of Flymo products. Easy to assemble from the enclosed instructions. Very easy to switch between the functions, I particularly like the edging trimmer as it leaves a crisp border and the plant guard stops the damage to my plants by the border and stops the line from breaking near my planters. The strimmer is comfortable to hold with the two handles, it is easy to adjust the height of the handle. Cuts the grass well, LED display shows how much charge is remaining.

This is a great piece or equipment for finishing of your lawn and edging,
This Flymo trimmer arrived in its own box, and was very easy too assemble it actually took me about 15 minutes as most of the parts just clipped together
The 18v battery when fully charged will give you plenty of time for trimming and edging the lawn just by pressing a button and turning the head,
You can adjust the trimmer to suit your height and also the handle and when trimming the the trimmer line is automatically fed out so you don’t have to stop and keep adjusting the line, and with the plant guards you can make sure you don’t trim the plants and damage the edging
All in all a good quality product by Flymo lightweight, powerful, well made and reasonably priced

Lightweight and robust.
I am all for battery power and that is nothing to do with the environment! No wires getting in the way is more convenient (and safer as no risk of cutting the wire). Batteries are lighter and cheaper these days as well. I am not a fan of the linefeed system. Having had problems in the past with them. However this one does seem to feed well and so far no problems . Lightweight and robust. Easy to assemble. Although I hadn’t clicked the protective cover in properly. Flymo’s batteries are part of the Power For All Alliance meaning the battery can be used in other Flymo items (I have their battery hedge trimmer) and items from other manufacturers.
Edges and strims excelle
This is a great strimmer, really lightweight so I can easily use (I struggled with heavier models due to disabilities). The strimmer can be set to strim or can be flipped on its side to edge your lawn. It does this really well. The battery charges quickly and there is a power indicator on the strimmer so you know when it needs a charge. The strimmer wire feeds out automatic when you release the trigger so you don’t have to keep stopping to pull out more wire. A guard is also included in the bottom of the strimmer for protection to plants when stunning edges. An excellent garden strimme
First impression:
I was excited to receive the strimmer as this would be ideal for me with a medium sized garden that just needs a tidy up from time to time, but has a lot of places my mower just will not do fight up to the edge, like sheds and garden storage. There is a long paving edge that always needs some attention where it transitions to grass. All of these are ideal uses to put this new strimmer.
Packaging and delivery:
I was disappointed to see that the strimmer box had been opened and then poorly resealed and was a bit worse for wear. Inside, everything was intact though. Not the best of starts.

Installation and use:
The strimmer goes together relatively easily and once the handle and motor assembly are clicked into place, the join in permanent. The linking wire inside was a bit twisted but I don’t think that this matters much. The shield around the strimmer line was a little more of a challenge but slotted into place after a little study and the outer shroud can only clip in one way.
The strimmer line is already installed and has a small knot in it to prevent it from retracting in transit. You need to undo the knot if present. Also, there is a small safety pin to pull out before use. The battery comes part charged at about 30% (so compliant with regulations) and clicks into place. The strimmer has a charge indicator light on the handle, which gives a clear indication. This is useful if you know that there are important parts to do and you can prioritise them before the charge runs out if you are low. That said, you do get a good period of use on one charge.
The charger slides onto the battery but does not really click into place as it does on the strimmer itself. Make sure it is pushed well home. I had it fall off once. There is a flashing green light when charging is underway.
To activate the strimmer, press down on the handle switch on top, and then squeeze the trigger under your fingers. There is a fraction of lag as the strimmer gets up to speed but hardly noticeable and away you go. The strimmer coped well both with cutting the grass where my mower couldn’t reach, and for weeds and verge trimming. I also chopped off a few weeds growing up between paving stones and it coped fine with that. Strimmer line feed is automatic. There is an extra hand hold for comfort although it was light enough for me to use one handed in a few places.
Pros:
Light weight.
No mains chord.
Automatic line feed.
Reasonable power for a rechargeable.
Cons:
Packaging was a mess.
Conclusion:
This battery strimmer was great for getting into corners and is less aggressive that a bigger mains strimmer. I use this for tidying up and also for creating lawn topiary designs for yearly celebrations. This year it was a large ’21’ inside a heart and after mowing the bulk of the grass, the rest is down to a strimmer to detail and define the edges. This strimmer is light enough for that without being underpowered and you don’t have the inconvenience of a long trailing wire stretching across the grass and getting in the way.
