I was in need of a good set of cordless hair straighteners for my busy lifestyle, and the ghd Unplugged Styler Giftset Edition has been an absolute game-changer! These are amazing, work very well heat up in seconds and leave my hair soft and silky.
I know you get what you pay for, but can’t help feeling the premium they have applied to the brand name is difficult to justify.
That said this is an effective and handy set to take travelling. You get just enough on a charge to deal with an average head of hair. But only just enough.
If you like the cachet of the brand, and your hair length and style is not too demanding then this would be perfect for you.
If you like to take your time or have longer hair then you may need to look for a travel set which you can use on the cord.
While these aren’t going to replace a full-size set of straighteners (unless I guess you have shorter hair), these are an ideal set for taking with you on the move. They last long enough on a full charge to straighten a full head of hair, but if your hair is super long then you’ll want to be looking elsewhere – these don’t work while charging so you could find yourself sporting a half head of straight hair and half curly.
I also think the current asking price of just shy of 300 is excessive – you’re paying more for the brand than you are for the quality; our family has used several sets of straighteners in the past that do a great job for a fraction of the price.
If you’re a fan of GHD, and are away from home a lot, these are a good buy for you. If you aren’t, then go for something cheaper and save some money.

With my job I travel quite a lot and am on the go all day, the GHD unplugged styler has revolutionised my travel and became a staple in my travel bag.
I was sceptical on it’s performance, but I am absolutely blown away! They heat up probably just as quick as my corded ones and the power of them are just as good! I get a good few days use out of them before needing recharged, which is perfect as I’m usually only gone for a couple of days at a time. They are also perfect for touch-ups throughout the day or quick styles.
I love that they also come with a nice travel bag, and inside of the box you get a top quality brush and some GHD heat protection spray which makes my hair look and smell divine!
Overall, this is a definite must have for anyone who’s always on the go. This set is compact, easy to use and has all the tools you need to keep your hair looking great.
Wow, what a set from ghd, just an absolute icon, and a stunner. Contains a cordless straightener, hairbrush, travel-size heat protection spray, charging cable, and a heat-resistant carry case. Plus everything is packed in a hard gift box which is a great present but rather on the pricey side (well it is ghd).
It will take you about an hour and a half, two hours to fully charge the straighteners and you can count on approximately 20 minutes of working time so you better be quick and efficient.
Of course, the biggest advantage (besides the brand, quality, and technology) is that this straightener is fairly compact and portable. You can potentially pop it in your backpack next time you go to a Glastonbury festival and ensure that at least your hair looks pristine.

These cordless GHD straighteners are super useful for on the go touch ups. They are small enough to fit easily into a handbag and come with a neat little pouch for transportation purposes.
Depending on your hair length and thickness, you could just about straighten the whole lot on one charge. My hair is pretty thick and shoulder length and I managed this just about. Annoyingly though, you cannot use the straightners whilst they are charging so if they run out before you are finished, this is a bit of a pain. The charging time, unsurprisingly, is not a particularly short one.
The finish is comparable with other GHD straightners and they feel solid and nice to use. The accessories are also all great quality as you expect from GHD and it really completes the package.
Overall four stars, one off only for the fact that they can’t be used on the cable. Recommended for straight hair devotees who travel a lot or find the weather means the ability to do a hair touch up whilst out and about would be a benefit.
So these are quite a costly item – around two hundred and fifty for cordless hair straighteners that cannot be used when charging – and only last 25-35 minutes per use.
What have I used them for? Honestly, I keep them in my car – when I arrive at work then I can use them to top up my hair if I have run into rain/whatever weather and they do the job nicely. (can also charge in the car if you need to, hence the USB)
The hot plate is quite thin and short but for me that is ok as I do have quite fine/thin hair. It comes with a bag but its pretty small, not everything fits in it.
The paddle brush is okay – good grip and the bristles haven’t fell out yet.
No heat protection mat provided.
Overall good for “oh dear I need to fix my hair STAT” but not for full hair styles/fix ups.
These are perfect for me as I have shorter hair and use these primarily for my fringe. The compact size is just perfect for me and the fact that they are cordless is a bonus as they can be taken to work, or away for the weekend, really easily and used just about anywhere.

If you have long hair then don’t expect a full replacement for corded straighteners. From a full charge I can use the straighteners for just over 16 minutes before they run out of charge. This is good, but it isn’t enough for me to complete my hair! Instead, I think these are a great set of straighteners to pop in your bag for a quick tidy up during the day at work or before heading out somewhere. They heat up very quickly, and the plates seem as warm as regular corded ghds. You get a warning beep before the charge runs out, with about 2 minutes warning which is helpful.
The plates are quite narrow so I’m not sure how good this would be for really thick and long hair, probably similar to the regular ghds though, so if you can use them then these should be fine. They are heavier than regular ghds, which is to be expected given they have to include a rechargeable battery. However they are still lightweight enough to hold for a decent time and I thought they were comfortable to use. The base that you hold is a bit wider than normal ghds, but its still easy to hold and fits well in my hand. I liked using the straighteners and was impressed at how quickly I got used to them – its nice not having to worry about the cord.
The carry case is handy, you can pop the straighteners in the case and then in your bag and ready for the day. They charge easily and quite quickly. This set is good, it also comes with a paddle brush and a travel size heat protection spray (a nice touch).
I am really impressed with these. The RRP is probably a bit more expensive than I would expect, but they work really well. I wish they could hold charge for about 25 minutes, but understand there are limitations. At the moment I get about 16 minutes, I don’t know how well the battery life will perform over time and if this will reduce. Ghds are known for good quality and long-lasting products and I hope its the same with these.
These straighteners are in a much smaller format than an average set due to the fact that they are sold as cordless and portable. They need to be charged before use – charging takes a couple of hours – but once charged, can be put in a (large) coat pocket or handbag for travelling, with the included travelling bag. However, the battery isn’t particulalrly large so although they work very well, they don’t work for long. You won’t want to be sharing them with your friends! The set also comes with some spray for prepping hair before use – this is excellent, but given how expensive these are, a larger bottle wouldn’t have gone amiss. The final item that is included is a brush, which is fine, neither brilliant nor terrible.
If you don’t intend to use your straighteners outside the house, I would suggest that there are better, larger options which can be plugged in and last as long as necessary, but if you’re travelling, these are definitely worth a look – they work very well and they’re nicely presented (not that that matters if you’re buying for yourself).
However, the premium price of 299 will probably put off a lot of potential buyers, there are other straighteners available at a tenth of the price. These, though, really are excellent and if you can afford them and will use them outside your home, I would be happy to recommend them.

They heat up in a minute. Literally a minute.
One stroke of the plates and you have the best straight hair.
My hair feels lovely.
It’s nice and fluffy feeling and took about 3 seconds per section.
This keeps a constant heat.
I’m not sure if the little tune it played meant heat was ready or that battery lost some power as a bar disappeared at the same time.
It turns on simply with a switch. Slide across to turn on and same again to turn off.

If you lift the plastic out you’ll also find a lovely little bag for storing it in.

I’m a little bit in two ways about this set of ghd hair stylers. I’m not going to rave like mad about it at all which at looking at the cost . What nearly three hundred pounds for a lot smaller version of the bigger ones?
That being said yes they are good in the fact that if your on the move or just going away they fit into your luggage easier. What I will say though is getting the straightener bag into its case it’s a tight fit. Trying to fit both the cable plug and item itself a tight squeeze can see why it’s all loose in the well packed strong looking presentation box. No wonder you can’t fit the brush in with it and fasten it up that I’ve found out.
Doesn’t seem to take as long to heat up as it’s bigger version does the same job but this one has the added extra of being able to be used on the move so to speak. USB charging available with it that alone I think makes it have a higher price tag.
Comes with a small paddle style brush with the ghd logo on it. Really are those diamond looking gems worth it? Also some hair care spray included with the set now my set was branded as a christmas one think there are other variations out there. Some look different but this one has the small paddle style brush not the rounded one which I think best if trying to straighten a fringe like I was using my straighteners for.
What did surprise me was the fact you don’t get a mat for heat protection which I alway like to use if using straighteners. At the high cost I thought they could have at least thrown one of those in with ghd diamond gems or not.
It’s expensive but if you like your named straighteners and have used it’s bigger version before then yes you may look at them. Be it in shock and disbelief or in envy.
Wouldn’t like to try to do a full head with it as would worry about it then going flat and not finishing my style. For fringe and a quick tidy up session when hair gone frizzy and needing a few looser waves put in it’s good for that.
I think personally that you’ve got to be someone that has the bigger version. Just can’t live without their straighteners when away or needing to use them for after work for night outs so can style anywhere.
Would I dream of spending this much? Not just for a fringe and loose waves but then again that’s just my personal view on them.
Ordered for my daughter who has unbelievably curly locks and hasn’t had much success with other straighteners in the past.
These are quality tools and in combination with the protection spray which makes the hair more slippery has been a roaring success. I don’t think I’d recommend using them without the spray as it seems to make it much more effective.
The fact that these are rechargable means she is taken them with her. Her hair is so curly straightening won;’ last the full day so she is able to ‘top up’ whenever needed.
Great product. You can make your own call as to the value/price as they are on the pricier side of things but you get what you pay for and they are proven to work.
The hair dryer is really lightweight, only 422 g, and it has a foldable handle which makes it easy to pack. It dries my hair fast, it has a powerful airflow temperature of 65 C.
I also like that it has variable temperature settings.
The dual voltage feature is also very useful, it works at 240 V and 120 V, so I can use it anywhere.
The protective case is a nice touch and the precision nozzle helps to focus the airflow and dry my hair evenly.
The 1.8 m long cable is also long enough for me to move around while drying my hair.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this priduct, the ghd Flight Travel Hair Dryer is a great product, lightweight, powerful and versatile.
