5.0 out of 5 stars great, sleek watch
got it as a gift; great for workouts (autodetected in particular when i’m running or biking somewhere), sleep monitoring, heart rate monitoring, checking the weather or my calendar or just picking up any notification for my phone (configurable) and allowing me to quickly address them

    Love it!!
I am really pleased with the watch. Setting up was easy and I am using it all the time now. It is beautifully designed and I live the fact that you choose from dozens of watch faces and customise each of them in detail. Google has really surpassed themselves this time!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersFar better than expected
This is my first smartwatch, bought to replace a Fitbit Alta HR I’ve been using for 4 years. I’m really impressed, as expected Fitbit integration is excellent – I especially like the ECG function and hope SpO2 comes in a future update very soon. I am achieving far better battery time than expected by applying these settings
    Battery Saver on
    Always on display off
    Tilt to wake off
    Bedtime mode at night
    Google Assistant off

With the above settings applied I get 36 hours easily.

I have slowly been trying to move away from apple. i have been using apple for 20 years. I have become bored and don’t believe there is much innovation left in them. Having said that i loved my apple watch. However because i moved away from the iPhone, to the google pixel phone i knew i had to find an alternative that would suit me.

After much consideration i picked up a google watch. Initially, i was disappointed. It is smaller than the apple watch, and i was used to a chunkier watch. I managed to get a great strap and case for it, and now im happy with the watch.

The watch and phone work well together. I have had no issues. So far it appears to work seamlessly. It has all the workouts i need for the gym. My only bug bear is whether i can wear it swimming. There seem to be conflicting messages on it. Some say its fine and others say no. It is 5m water resistant so theoretically it should be ok for a dip in the pool, but i would prefer some more clarification.

Battery life could be better. It lasts a day. At the end of the day i have to charge it. Id be thrilled if google could make the watch last 2 days of charge!

All in all, i am surprised that i like it so much. Definitely a worthy smartwatch all round.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersA very good first attemp
Having used both a Fitbit Versa and Apple Watch over the past couple of years, I can say with confidence that this is a very good first attempt from Google. There are improvements that can definitely be made here (battery life anyone?), but in terms of build quality, software, and overall comfort and experience using the device, it would be hard to be negative about the watch at this point. I’m happy that I replaced my excellent Fitbit Versa with a better device, and look forward to what they do with it from here on out!

The design is timeless. The software is smooth and beautiful. With battery saver mode on I get a day and a half of battery life with it, which is better than I got on my apple watch se.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat watch
I am very impressed with this watch. It’s a great bit of kit. Easy to set up. It looks great, does all the things I want it to. Charging regularly (every 48 hours) is not an issue as it is quick to charge. I charge it while I am sitting, so don’t miss out on too many steps! Just wish the battery indicator was green until it got to 10%, rather than red all the time but only a very minor thing, definitely not a big issue. Look forward to updates just because it will be interesting to see how it develops!

Good first outing for Google, but could do with improvements.
I purchased my wife’s Pixel watch directly from Google, I already got my one free through a promotion when I got the Pixel 7 Pro phone.
The Pixel watch is a pretty good first outing from Google, but there are some annoyances that keep it from being great.

First the good points, it’s really nice on the wrist, not too big, not too small, and very light.
The swappable wrist bands is a good idea and gives the watch a nice clean design.
The oled screen is easily legible and bright enough with a fairly good resolution.
Swiping through the screens is nippy enough and accessing menus doesn’t require a million steps and a degree in rocket science, it’s all laid out quite logically.
Overall, quite a nice watch, but with some glaring caveats.

The battery isn’t great, requiring a charge every single day, albeit it doesn’t take long, but it’s still a bit of a pain if you forget.
And there’s also the fact it requires the dedicated charge puck that comes with the watch itself or your out of luck and charge.
And this seems like Google missed an opportunity to be able to charge the watch wirelessly from a Pixel phone, keeping it all neat within the Google eco system.
And this really is where my main issue is with the Pixel watch, everything seems a bit of a cash grab on Googles part, if you lose the charger puck, you have no option but to buy another from Google, if you want total Fitbit integration, you have to pay Google, even the pebble design of the watch itself will cause issues with tempered glass protectors due to the rounded edges, and a broken watch face would require yet more money to Google.
And the price of official watch straps is bordering on robbery for silicon straps.
All these issues were designed into the Pixel watch, it’s not because of technical limitations.

All in, it’s not a bad first effort from Google, but it definitely needs a bit of product polishing for version 2 if they want it to be a mainstream product worthy of the price.

I was almost put off by reviews but thought I’d give it a try. So glad I did. Battery lasts fine, better than my wife’s apple watch. Great for picking up calls and notifications, playing music from Spotify, tracking exercise, golf. Detail on the sleep info is a real bonus as well. Does everything i need from it and does it well. Seen some complaints about the screen size but I think the screen is just right and very easy to use. No complaints at all from me

    Great Looking Watch
    Watch looks amazing.
Yes it’s smooth, looks polished and blends well with any outfit.

Battery is OK ish. Similar to a Apple Watch.
Screen looks to be a bit small for a smartwatch specially when using apps.

Apart from that it’s a Great Device.

Not bad - could be grea
I like: the design / appearance, the Fitbit integration, the strap, the Google assistant, Google Pay, build quality, ECG feature
I dislike: the high price (though I got mine as a freebie with a Pixel 7 pro), the so-so battery life, the screen size
If a larger version could be produced with smaller bezels and a better battery life, I think Google would have a winner here

Absolutely love the watch, fits really well. Not bulky at all when on the wrist
Works best with pixel phones almost pronto
My only downside is the fact you cannot access 6 months fit bit (they only allow a 3 month lmtd supply. Both Google & fitbit got blame each other so disappointed
The “LTE” definitely does not work without your phone keeps saying no internet access so a bit useless for paying extra. It does surprisingly let you use Google wallet?? But no calls in or out
I do love the comfort &look of watch so will keep it &hopefully Google should sort this LTE out pronto or they should give you that extra back for this

    Pros:
    – Nice feature set
    – Good combo of smartwatch functions and fitness
    – Comfortable wristband

    Cons:
    – Battery life; I can squeeze out ~48 hours if I turn off a bunch of stuff
    – Calorie calculation is a bit high, probably fixed in a future software update

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersGood start hopefully gets better with updates
Been using the LTE version for a week. Very easy to set up.

Fastest wear os watch I’ve ever used, calling and messaging on it is great, great watch faces and looks amazing! Google assistant is fast and snappy. Lots of tiles on wear os 3.5 too. Safety features are cool too and love the watch strap options. Bitmoji watch faces and Google photos watch faces are also fun. Finally wear os phone app has been massively updated.

Disappointed with battery life hopefully that improves and to be honest has gotten better over the week as I’ve made tweaks.

Also don’t like Google maps doesn’t have public transport directions and won’t work unless connected to phone via Bluetooth. On Wear OS 2 swipe left would bring up Google assistant and other useful features similar to at a glance but it’s bizarrely been removed hope they bring it back. Also missing is the ability to write/type using handwriting, needs to be brought back.

Apps are generally better on Wear OS 3.5 but missing Uber and Google news from wear os 2.0 hopefully they come soon in future updates.

bought mine over the weekend. It is good to have a solid built and reliable watch. Battery life is about 24 hours (which is normal in this segment and size of watch). Watch size is good i.e. not too big and not too small and looks are very good. Comes with two straps for the wrist catering for different sizes. Set-up is easy and it works like a charm.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our Users4.0 out of 5 stars A good first gen produc
There are many negative reviews here about this watch, some of which I feel are totally unfair. The Pixel watch is definitely overpriced for what it is currently and would benefit from 100 bucks being taken off, but the build quality and performance of the device is excellent. The watch does not look like your average fitness tracker and has a premium look and finish that will obviously not survive rough use and extreme sports. The watch obviously burns a lot of battery during the initial setup because there are firmware and app updates that need to be applied. When you start using it on the regular however, you can get a full day’s worth of battery life by turning off things like the voice activated assistant. Users have reported better battery performance after the first few days of use, so definitely give it a week before you make up your mind about returning it.

It’s a great 1st attempt. I like it a lot, looks good great built quality. Battery life it’s OK. It’s been 19h now and it’s at 27%. Charge it before bed and it’s set for a night tracking and next day. Don’t get all the bashing it’s only 24hours battery so it’s bad. All Apple Watches last the same and it’s fine?!
It’s a good mix of Fitbit functionality plus smarwatch functions on top Fitbit lacks. Should be 50-100 cheaper tho

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersWould love a bigger version.
So I bought the Pixel 7 Pro and received the LTE Pixel watch for free. I’m coming from a galaxy watch active 2 and my first impressions were oh my god. This is tiny.
So I’ve used the watch for a day or two now and I’m loving how smooth the animations are, there’s been lots of talk of the thick bezels but to be honest with the OLED screen, you don’t notice them anywhere near as much as you think you would.
The battery life could be better but Google did state that it’ll be 24 hours. After setting up the device I popped it on the charger to 100%. Took it off the charger at around 11:00 p.m. and went to sleep. Woke up with around 75% charge and went off to work. Did my day and battery saver kicked in at 20% battery around 7:00/8:00 that evening. With it being such a small battery, it charges back up again relatively quickly.
I knew that Google bought Fitbit but currently there is no way use Google Fit unless you install a third party app called HealthSync which allows you to move data from Fitbit to Google fit. I was doing this with my active 2 as I prefer the look of Google fit versus Samsung health. So to use any of the fitness features you will need to install Fitbit and create a Fitbit account.
I’ve not worked out if there’s a way to increase the vibration intensity on my wrist, I have missed some notifications due to just not feeling it. That could be user error though.
The watch band it comes with is very comfortable and I’ve not got any issues so far. It feels like a very soft material similar to the standard band that you get with the Active 2. But for some reason my skin had a nasty reaction to the active 2 band, that has not happened with the standard pixel band.
The galaxy active 2 I came from had the 44 mm screen where this one at 41mm. Now the text is perfectly clear. I cannot see any pixels but I do find myself wanting to increase the font size a little, just so I don’t have to bring the watch so close to my face to read it.
I’ve not had chance to try out any of the fitness tracking as I’m deathly ill whilst writing this review but the heart rate monitoring is spot on and it should be as accurate as any Fitbit currently out there.
The one phone call I’ve tried was really clear and the other person had no issues hearing me.
To sum up, I like it a lot. Under 300 would have been a better price in my opinion, when you compare the battery life and durability you get from the current galaxy watches it’s hard to justify the extra cost, but again, I pre-ordered the 7 Pro (which is great by the way) and picked the watch over the Pixel Buds Pro for free. I would prefer a bigger screen and a bigger battery but for Google’s first watch I’d give it a 4/5.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersFinally a simple to operate watch with great reliable core features
    Hardware:
The design is on the small size 41mm, very comparable to the market leader Apple watch size. Build is stainless still and glass so is premium thru and thru. It uses a unique band mount which is quite genius because it allows for a seemless look and quick strap changes. The screen size is 30mm which is best given its domed design, screen would distort and look terrible if it was any bigger

    Software:
This a gen 1 product that does not boast any new features but has all the current ones which it work very well. The heart rate is accurate as a chest strap and the gps is fast and as good as a samsung or apple equal. The ECG works on all android phones 8.0 and higher, unlike samsungs that only works with Samsung phones. It tracks sleep well.
Wears 3.5 is very simple to use and allows for easy access to google wallet and the assistant, if using a pixel phone there is fast pair.
Notifications are handled is the usual wear OS way and can use googles keyboard for easy replys by voice or typing. There is also camera controls for remote picture taking
Fitbit intergration is great as it brings 8 years of there software experience along with it for the health management and app plus all the exercises.

    Battery:
This a wide area to talk about, its a full featured smartwatch like an apple or samsung watch but the small variant. So like the other two watches a single day use (24 hours is all to be expected if used in the same way). With Alway on screen turned on 12 hours at most, so a work day. The battery life is average at best. First setup uses a lot of power but the next day it settles in. It does charge upto 50% in 30mins tho.

    Conclusion:
Its not perfect but nails the core features very well. Battery is average and build is excellent. Its smooth simple like a pixel product should be.

If you use a lot of google services then this is the ideal companion. Samsung watch is an good alternative for sure, plus that does have the option of a larger size. But ECG is missing and Samsung’s UI is quite different and notification handling is also different not stock Wear OS

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our Users4.0 out of 5 stars Getting bette
I leave my original review below, since it was a true first impression, but things have improved.

I waited for updates and tried again with the Pixel Watch, because I like its round and light design more than that of the Fitbit Sense and because technically, it works faster and more reliable and so is more pleasant to use. After updating everything (important: including all apps on the watch, accessed via the menu and ‘Play Store’, especially the Fitbit app on the watch), things finally worked. Yay! Counting steps and floors and measuring sleep also seems to improve by wearing the watch, so I have now retired my Sense.

There is still the problem with the boring, insufficient watch faces (hopefully, they will introduce some better faces soon) and with having to charge the watch at least once every day, but that I can live with. That’s why I am now giving 4 stars instead of the original two.

    *** The original review ***

I was so looking forward to this watch, and was ecstatic when I got it for free with my Pixel 7 Pro. But my enthusiasm has all but disappeared. I have had it for 2 days now, and have already spent hours (and I mean this quite literally) troubleshooting. Setup, syncing with the Fitbit app, counting floors, measuring sleep, telling the weather – nothing has worked reliably. The exercise types are missing some important ones, the available watch faces are unsatisfying, to say the least. Plus, the thing does not even last a full day, even without always-on screen. Now the syncing with Fitbit seems to have stopped for good, and none of the troubleshooting steps works. Will today return to my old Fitbit device. If I had paid for this watch, I would send it back.
