Expensive but silky
Expensive for a pass through ratchet crimper but to be fair it works great. I used the tool with a different brand rj45 connectors with no issues. Wish this came with a case to be honest for the money

Klein tools are amazing and I would thoroughly recommend paying the little extra for this over any of the other cheap crimpers on Amazon. Perfect crimps every time with Cat5e and Cat6. Never misses a cut when removing the passthrough excess and all blades show no signs of wea
A few years ago I bought a cheap crimping set to run some cat6 across the house. It must have taken about 30 attempts to terminate each end of the cable. Since moving house I again found myself needing to run cat6 cable through floors and ceilings. I didn’t have the patience this time to mess about.
This cost a lot more than I’d have liked to have spent but it’s there for when I need it next. Reading another review I also bought 10 Klein plugs from Amazon. They were silly money too but they worked exactly as required.
This tool made it very easy to make cables and the diagrams printed on the tool are a handy reference too. Each cable I have made using this tool with the klein plugs have made a perfect connection first time. I was using 24awg solid cat6 cable. Having tested the cables they do facilitate 1gbps speeds. No complaints!
Well built crimpe
Used for crimping some RJ45 terminals – I had tried a cheaper tool but purchased this based on reviews and this one crimped and cut the spare ends clean and effortless compared to my initial purchase.
If I was critical it doesn’t appear to close and stay minimised very well. There is a button which restrict the openness when not in use but a simple clip to keep it close when not required would be better – but minor issue
One stop shop for making up cables
I was adding wired Ethernet to my house after years of flaky WiFi. I’d put this off for ages because I knew I would have to make up RJ45 plugs and it had always been a fiddly unreliable task.
I decided it’s all about the right tool for the job and took the plunge with this. What a revelation. Efficient cutting and stripping, simple colour coded plug setup then one step crimping. It has nipped off all spare conductors very neatly.
Every single plug I’ve made has worked first time at full speed. I used with Smedz external Cat 6 cables and Klein pass through rj45 plugs. Very happy
Having wasted nearly as much money as this single tool cost on two cheaper ‘kits’ I can say that I would have been better going for this quality item from the outset.
This is a really nicely built tool that feels like a quality item as soon as you start using it. The cable stripper actually just strips the outer sheath (without cutting conductors), there is a handy – and readable – wiring colour chart right on the jaws and it makes perfect crimps every time.
It’s tempting to be drawn in by the cheaper kits but, in my experience, you will end up throwing away a lot of time – and badly made connectors. When you’ve spent a day running a CAT6 cable through walls and floors and all that stands between you and a reliable connection is the crimping tool then you’ll be thankful you got this one – and not the cheaper one, which results in an ever-shortening cable (as you cut of numerous bad connectors – just hoping the next will be good). If you really need the other extras these kits include – such as a tester or punch-down tool – then these can be bought relatively cheaply.
You really do get what you pay for and, with this tool, the cost feels totally justified. Team it up with some quality pass-through connectors and save yourself a ton of time – and probably money – over the ‘cheaper’ option.
Great product but pretty expensive
I guess its true you get what you pay for. I have just had an extension built so had cat 6 points installed everywhere. So, rather than buy tons of pre-made cables which cost a fortune (and are never the right size), I decided to use the roll the builder had left behind and didn’t want and make up my own cables. Read a lot of reviews and as I had never created network cables in my life decided to go with something that had the best reviews. I did buy the Klein Tools pass through connectors to use with this (which are pretty expensive for a box of 50) but had a 100% success rate making up the cables with this combination which is pretty satisfying for someone who has never made cables before. Its also strangely therapeutic making up network cables and considering the stress with dealing with builders its a double win here!
In fairness, not sure why its so expensive and a cheaper model may in the end be just as good but, I can only with what I have experienced and this has been a good one. I’m dropping one star because of how relatively expensive it is but just to be clear, that’s no reflection on its quality.

Foolproof tool.
I have used the basic RJ45 connectors for some years now. Now my eyesight is failing and my hands aren’t as steady as they once were, I found I was getting regular failures.
I have just installed ethernet into my home workshop using Cat 6 cable so opted for the passthrough connectors using this tool by Klein. Worked absolutely perfectly, the cable stripping was easy and the excess was sliced off perfectly each and every time.
I had some oldish Cat 5e patch cables where the retainer had snapped off. I decided to replace the connectors on these but the cable was stranded and too flexible to push through with any control. No problem, just threaded 1 core at a time. Then I pulled the surplus cables to add tension while I crimped and the ends were cut clean as a whistle.
Expensive but good quality item
Overall the item is of good quality, the only real issue I have had is that the trimmer on the crimp isnt as good as it should be. But other than that you can feel the quality in the tool.
Best Crimper I've used
The price put me off buying this as well as a couple of reviews that weren’t too good. Well, after getting annoyed at some recent cables having intermittent issues despite passing tests I get this and it’s great. My other crimpers needed quite a few squeezes to give me any sort of feeling that contacts had made it through the insulation but these Klein crimpers do it in one go. I can really feel the connection being made, I know that sounds silly but I know they have done the job by the feel of the level.
They cut off all the wires cleanly too which I’d heard isn’t always the case.
Overall I’m completely happy with these and know they’ll last me many years.
I’m a network architect and whilst that doesn’t have me terminating cables now, I have made up my fair share of CAT6 & CAT5e cables in my lifetime.
The invention of ‘EZ RJ45’ aka through connectors is the best thing to happen to network cabling in the past 20 years.
This Klein Tools EZ RJ45 crimper is the smoothest, cleanest and highest quality crimper I have EVER used. My other one for direct comparison is the Platinum Tools ProHD model which is also fantastic, but it’s not as compact and nowhere near as smooth as the Klein.
The stripping blade in this is set perfectly so it does not cut into the conductors, rather cleaning scoring the jacket for easy stripping. The trimming blade in the crimp die is razor sharp and perfect cuts off the excess wire every time.
The 568 wiring scheme is printed onto the tool which makes for a handy reference as well.
I am a stickler for high quality when it comes to network cables and it makes be cringe whenever I see a badly terminated cable. With these, some good quality through connectors such as the Platinum Connector EZ RJ45’s and high quality CAT6 cable such as Gigatrue 550 from Black Box Networks you cannot do wrong.
Price is exactly what I’d expect for a quality tool.
High recommended. If you are hesitating because of the price, DON’T. Buy these, it will be the only set of crimpers you’ll ever need.

Only giving 4 stars because it’s expensive and often fails to shear the ends, which then requires some snips – for this price it should be working perfectly. Maybe I just need to download an update… Will turn it off and on again and see.
An Essential Tool for Passthrough RJ45 Connectors
I got sick of standard RJ45 connectors so opted for some passthrough ones instead (yeah I know I’m a noob!). Unfortunately, the RJ45 Crimper in my Philex LAN installation kit doesn’t cut the extra cable that’s left with passthroughs.
That’s why I purchased this Klein Tools kit.
I’ve used it for over a dozen RJ45 connectors so far and I love it. It does exactly what I need.
Sometimes you so have to put the connector in a few times to cut all cables, but that’s normally because the connector wasn’t pushed in enough.
Having the A and B wiring schemes written on the side is useful. The cut and strip tools are handy too, but I still prefer my dedicated wire strippers as they’re smaller, lighter and easier to use. This feels a bit too heavy and cumbersome for cutting and stripping tons of cables. Still handy to have though.

I’ve never made my own Ethernet cables before so to wire up my own RJ-45 connector was a learning experience, and i woud recommend this product to anyone learning to wire up your own ethernet cables like myself.

Haven’t had a bad connection with these, I did buy the matching Klein Tools pass thru cat 6 connectors and I have held the pairs in a nice straight bunch as I’ve done the final cut and everyone has been clean. So far after half a dozen connections the only one that I’ve ended up having to redo was when I used T568A color codes instead of T568B that the other end had. The Amazon Basics 23 AWG cat 6 solid copper cable fit into the connectors with no troubles.
Pass thru is also definitely the way to go a lot less hassle to get the wires in (you can do one at a time) particularly if you strip off a few inches. I’ve only been doing some small runs where I’ve used existing holes in the wall and cables won’t go through with an RJ45 attached.
The cable test in the switch doesn’t show any errors but maybe if you have a proper TDR tester you’ll get different results.

In my opinion this is absolutely fantastic! It’s so great, I cute and do everything with just this tool. Don’t need any kit or anything else, get it if you use the rj45 with go through cables, it works so great!
Best crimping solution eve
Not a single failed crimp since buying this. Super easy to use and far superior to other non feed through RJ45 solutions. Well built to last and whilst the plugs cost more, the fact they all just work makes up for this.
What a lifesaver this crimping tool has become. Just when you have thought that you have perfected crimping blind plugs with a regular crimping tool, this little gem comes along. Without a word of a lie, the time taken for me to crimp a plug on the end of a cable is less than half what it used to be.
The old crimper lies in the bottom of the tool box along with a pack of blind plugs. After all, you cannot let an apprentice learn to do things the easy way, without first struggling with how we used to put plugs on the end of cable.
Where this crimper really shines is crimping onto Cat6, with the central separator. Much easier terminations even with thicker cores.
This crimper definitely holds an advantage in this day and age of rapid deployment.

Great crimper. When combined with the klein tools pass through plugs, this makes crimping very low stress. The tool has the standard shown in multiple places, and the method means you can clearly see you have the pairs in the right order before you lock in the crimp.
The only issue I have had is when using it on really thin cables, the stripping tool doesn’t have a setting that reaches the cable so I have had to free-wheel with the cutter instead which sometimes risks cutting into the inner sheathes.
This is rare as most cables have been the right diameter.

Took quite a bit of getting used to this shape and style of crimper after using the more standard shaped ones for decades, but it works fine
In case the manufacturer ever reads these comments, isnt it about 20 years past the time SOMEONE should have made a crimper that does both RJ45 and BNC crimping? I mean seriously, this would have made sense right the way back when office networking was changing from BNC over to cat 5 and now makes even more sense with CCTV which uses both connectors too

Does the job very well, compact, easy to use, handy wiring diagram on the side, made terminating some Cat 6 a breeze. It was my first time and this tool along with some End pass through Ethernet Connectors, it was very easy to do. A great little tool. Well done.
Ordered Saturday, Arrived Sunday. I had trouble getting a CAT6 cable individual ends into a normal RJ45 Plug. Possibly due to the small working area between the sheath end and the ends of the wires using the thicker 23 AWG. Thought I would try out the Pass-Thru plugs. So ordered the Klein Plugs and this Klein Crimper tool. Must mention that I am happy wiring Cat5 and Cat5e using normal plugs. My problems arose with the CAT6 cable. Perhaps, I suspect, because my CAT6 cable is 23 AWG, and by the way it also has a central Twisted Pair separator inner running through the cable.
Anyway when it arrived I straight away dived into plugging my CAT6 cable. I had read the reviews regarding being unable to wire the thicker AWG cable so had that in mind when setting things up. Eventually, after about 40 minutes of faffing about trying different things and perhaps reducing the length of my cable by about a foot I plumbed for forgetting about the 1and 1/2 inch or 2 inch measurements from the end of the sheath to the wire ends and went for 4 inches approx which meant I could work on the wire ends only and not worry about the sheath end after I realised I could just pull them through when I had them in the proper order and they were passed-through the plug. The wire ends, or wire tips, have to be jammed tight close to each other, no daylight between the wires going into the plug and then slowly passed into the plug. Once you have jiggled a little bit and they look in order, with no wire having jumped on top of another, etc. Then you can push more firmly to get the wires engaged into their proper channels. Re-check again, as best you can. Then push more firmly and positively and they will go through. Then I pull on all the wires which are through and feed and work the sheath into the plug, it does go in, past the crimp position. Once through and happy they are in the correct colour order I then pull each pair, by original colour twist order, then pull on each wire individually with a small pair of pliers, just to take up any slack on the wires inside the plug between the sheath and the wire ends. Re-push sheath to ensure still fully in position.
The second plug was done in about 15 minutes. I concentrated on the wire ends and working them constantly to get them very close together before even attempting to try to put them into the plug.
Tip – Re-cut if the wires ends are not all in line with each other.
I fully expect to get this time down the more I use these plugs. By the way once I had the actual wires through in correct order it was so easy to use and crimped perfectly and also cut the wire ends off the plug. Nice job. Will be using Pass-Thru for CAT6 and thicker cabling without a shadow of doubt.
Negative is the wire stripper, waste of time. Too bulky a tool to maintain constant pressure for a sheath cut and turn the tool around the cable, tool is too bulky for that. Use a separate sheath cutter.
This review is mainly about the pass-through plugs I suppose but that is where the pain is in wiring CAT6 23 AWG. You would still have that pain and more with normal plugs. But pass-through plugs helps immensely by giving you more wire to work with.
The Crimp tool works fine, does the crimping part very well.
Not tested on any other type of pass-through plugs.
Only done 2 RJ45 plugs – but very pleased with this pass-through system (mainly because I have never, ever, managed to get my CAT6 23 AWG cable into any normal Cat 6 RJ45 plug successfully – amateur, I know)

Great product. Passthrough is definitely the way forward. The connectors may be a little more expensive but this method is so much quicker, less fiddly and you will thank yourself once you have chosen this route.

Like some of the other reviews it doesn’t cut all the cables always but just need to make sure the rj45 is seated fully and it crimps and cuts just fine
