It’s a solid, well made product. Easy to setup, really clever waterproof gasket system that accommodated cables of different sizes. Love that this has a remote control though having to programme it / ‘learn’ the remote was fiddly and I’m not sure why this isn’t done when the item is boxed and shipped?

    Great Item.
This item is perfect for connecting electrical wires in an outside enviroment and at a great price. Unfortunately I needed a unit to connect 3 way electrical (my mistake), so I had to return the item, which was accepted by the supplier and Amazon. Great product with great customer service.

I had not seen this design before. Although rather fiddly to connect the cables, once done it is very easy to take part and reassemble the two ends. It seems to be waterproof – but not fully tested.
A very useful and neat product.

    Easy
So long as you have an understanding of electrics and wiring it is simple… cannot comment on weatherproof as just installed for a month but so far ok.. made a hole for and moisture to run out if any gets in.
Easy to install but when putting top on be careful lining up the lid with the LED lights as they easily bend so just be careful with lid.
So far so good likes the higher amp’s on one for water ice heater that another mfr’s electrical box goes to just 1.5 amps. This is 7 or 8 amps. So good for 1500w pond heater.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWorks well, fiddly install
I love the unit itself and it does a great job. I have set it up for a number of different light strips in the garden and it does this perfectly with the remote working from a fair distance away in the house.

My only gripe is that the connections for the power cables (input and output) are extremely small and difficult to access. As this is an outdoor unit I’m using weatherproof cables and they are quite bulky (I have a mix of 2.5mm and 1.5mm, the 1.5mm was definitely easier to connect), this makes the very small and tight fittings extremely difficult to install the cables into. After the initial swearing during installation though I’m very happy with the unit.

Does what it says. Easy to fit and easy to use. My only criticism is that you can’t buy extra female connectors, so if you want to share a long power lead between multiple devices you have to keep buying male/female pairs and throw the unused half in the back of the shed in case you may find a use for it, or else the bin.

    Overall very good
This is technology that is fast being superseded however..
Very easy to wire and program.
Relays are good quality and circuitry seems robust.
Downside is that small slugs can enter through the drain hole and short out the back of the PCB.
I’ve attended many with this fault.
A strip of duck tape on the back is a easy prevention.

Some of the reviews here are for a junction box but I am reviewing ) Plug and Socket Inline Cable Connector, 3-Pole, rated to 16 A. It’s a sturdy connector but you only get one. The screws are tiny and require a special screwdriver. There is another brand Malajess that supply 3 connectors together with a screwdriver for 7.95!

Ideal if you are looking for a cable connector that you are only going to be connecting/disconnecting every now and then…
Once wired it’s very easy to connect/disconnect the 2 halves, the O-rings and threads seals very well and feel firm.
If you are looking for a rapid connection for things like power tools though this is not the best option… as you always have too screw them together fully

Absolutely excellent product. The only thing which I found difficult was the terminals. I therefore recommend the use of ferrules on the multi strand cables that you might use when installing this equipment. It is fabulous, I have my garden lights, small LED spotlight etc wired to it and I love it!

    Great piece of ki
I have used many different makes of junction boxes over the years on external connections for pond etc. Most fail after a while and water ingestion is inevitable. These are far sturdier and pretty easy to use. I found the connector strip a little light but I upgraded to a slightly larger one that still fitted within the box. I like the 5 screws that secure the lid giving a far better sealing potential. The cable glands are well made and there is a good selection of grommets for different cable sizes including a blanking grommet if needed. All in all very happy longevity an unknown but have been installed for some months now and OK.

Good switch but be careful choosing its use
Firstly this is a fantastic switch for garden lighting etc and the remote is powerful and works well. Beware though it will not control a 13 amp socket as it has internal fuses of 8, 2.5 and 2.5 amps respectively for the three output glands. You wont know this from the description. You also need outdoor cable ideally with solid wires as the internal connections are quite small and finicky so if your using armoured cable with stranded wires its very difficult to connect. that said if wired properly it works well and the supplier ML fittings are absolutely superb in their customer service. the internal fuses were blowing as I thought it would support a 13 amp plug and the fuses are not standard – they cannot be bought in normal electrical supplier stores. One email and a live webchat to Ml and I was speaking to their technical support expert who explained the issue and sent me replacement fuses overnight. Very pleased with it but be careful in what you expect from it.

Used this for remote switching of patio led light strings.
Well made unit, rain proof box, good remote.
Reasonably easy to install though fitting wires is a fiddle. Easier if the circuit board is removed from the box (two screws). Then the cables can be threaded through the cable glands, the conductors pushed into the connector blocks and screwed down before securing the circuit board back inside the box. And it all works a treat. Three channels switched using a remote. Remote range 12m.

    Safe and compact 240v connection.
This is a well designed and robust piece of kit .It is ideal where a long cable is not required to be attached permanently to a device. Example …power cable fed through a shelf or worktop where a 13a plug would not go. An extension where a bulky 13a socket and plug would normally be required. Takes a few seconds longer to connect/disconnect as it is twist secured.

    A bit early to tell
The 5 outlets are quite close together making tightening the gland nuts a little awkward with my fat fingers! but they appear to be effective so far. The connectors are for both stranded wire and solid core, but I found the strands more difficult to insert as they were more liable to flex if you didn’t manage to get them lined up perfectly whilst trying to secure- maybe down to my lack of experience, not sure. Overall, very good at the price I paid. Could have gone for much more expensive options, but very happy with the choice I made.

    Two LEDs don't work
Quick and easy to install, however two of the LED’s do not work, but did not find this out until after fitting, so could not return for a replacement. Its compact and I needed to wire in some SWA armoured cables. These need to be spaced apart, as putting them into the box next to each other was not possible due to lack of room for the associated cable glands. I drilled the bottom of the box and added some small bolts to link with the earthing gland ring for the SWA cables. You could get three SWA cables into a 5 way box, but no more. However, if you are wiring using normal cabling, no issues. Connections are fiddly to do, but OK. Just wish I had known about the faulty LED’s . I guess I should have checked the box prior to fitting. 🙁

    A great find
It was the perfect solution to my requirement. It mad the joint look good and not bulky. My only slight downside was the quality of the securing screws to the cables themselves. They were difficult to get a good tighten up and the screw heads were quite soft. They had to be tightened with great care not to round off the heads. Otherwise the perfect conector.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersSlightly confusing - but maybe that is just me.
I am pretty competent at most trades having spent 50 years in the building industry. It therefore came as a bit of a surprise that I did not immediately understand how to re-assemble this connector after I had dismantled it and wired the two halves.

OK, that’s my fault, I was expecting it to be simpler than it is. I accept the blame for my slight confusion and I do recommend it. It is in fact easy enough BUT I do suggest that you watch carefully when you take it apart so that you can re-assemble it quicker than I did.

I have not tested it in water but it inspires confidence in its water-tightness.

A good way connect 2 lengths of 3 core cable together. My only gripe is that the keying system to ensure that the 2 halves are connected together correctly are inside the halves of the connector. So you must visually check before putting the connector halves together that they are orientated correctly. Simple line on the outside of each half would get round this problem.

Problem: sockets, switches manually Turing off garden lights, pond lights, water feature.
Solution: Knightsbridge 3G Remote Switch Box.

I am so impressed with the performance. The remote is radio frequency therefore not reliant on IR and not issues with light or line of view. I control my lights through the patio door with the blinds down without any issues. This unit makes it so easy now to turn the lights off without having to go out in the evening in the rain or cold.

Wiring using multi string cables is very fiddly as the space is limited between cable clamp and terminals. the terminals are screw clamp terminals. The clamps do not make a clean passage for multi strand cables. I soldered the ends and this makes it much easier. I used a long nose rounded pliers to help with inserting the cables into the terminals. The PG20 glands I found to be slightly loose and these needed tightening, however I replaced these with flex conduit glands as I used flex conduits to protect the cables.
The remote does require pairing. Before you close the lid, ensure you pair the remote. After pairing its so simple and so impressive.

This was relatively easy to install and was the perfect solution to connect a 240v pond pump to the existing mains cable. Once connected, I was able to bury it under the gravel. My only reason for dropping 1 star is that the connector labelling for each cable could have been clearer. On 1 side I accidentally wired it to the screws next to the letters, rather than the holes. Thankfully, there wasn’t an earth wire on the pump, so no harm done once rewired.

Well hi to all parents and people who wish to have control of electricity and console playing children……

I have a problem with my children using their consoles at night …..
Alexa plugs easy to get round?
Easy to take out a plug connected to Alexa out of a wall and plug anything back in to the wall ….

I found this online …after thinking outside the box.

This is an outside infrared remote controlled plug point for the garden.
Can be turned on by one push of a button and also can be turned off by one push of a button.

Since I have installed this I’ve been very happy with the product and I know now that my teenager is sleeping at night rather than playing consoles and not trying to go to school because he hasn’t slept…..YAY!!!!

God loves the man or woman that made this idea you’ve just saved my home and given my boy a better chance of getting better grades

I would recommend this to anybody.

10 out of 10 on the grounds of that children don’t understand remote controls anymore and I dont have to constantly worry that hes up all night playing consoles and failing at school because hes knackered from no sleep .in the past have taken the console away but this way it stops his room on the press a button till homework or chores are done.

got to love our generation 🙂 and the human that made this device….

Amperage tolerance is going to be down to how well it lasts but the unit was well constructed with various features to improve the water resistance.

The screws don’t easily shred the plastic so you aren’t left with a flimsy case.

The ease of install will really come down to how confident you are with electrics and wiring plugs. For someone who knows what he’s doing this is going to be easy enough compared to various other units i’ve tried.

Just ensure the mains supply is on the correct side of the unit to avoid installing upside down or the wrong way around. Sounds obvious but people aren’t always sure how trustworthy the photos are. The 3 pin plug enters from the left hand side on the unit I purchased.

    Great product, works a treat!
Great product, doesn’t need line of sight, so it can be fitted in a store room or shed. I got a professional electrician to install mine, so not sure how easy it is to set up, I know it didn’t take him long!

    Great piece if Kit!
Great piece of kit, used to power water feature, spotlights, plugs etc

Piece of advice, unscrew the board off the unit so that you can feed the wires through and connect to terminals as there is very little space for you to maneuver. The terminals are also small and not very robust

once connected, its awesome! i can sit in our living room and control everything without having to stand in a certain position or having to aim at the unit.

Great product and works brilliantly with our water feature and feature lights. Just make sure you read the instructions carefully first! Wire up the power supply first and then program the remote BEFORE wiring up the load side. Save yourself a lot of problems. Otherwise brill.

    Very compact with good range
This is an excellent switch and it’s size is very compact. Being compact does have a draw back; it is very fiddly to connect up as terminals are small and space is at a premium.

Saves getting wet turning outside lights on!
Using product to control garden lighting. Proving very useful. As has been mentioned by others, the lid is not easy to snap shut, but I found it helps to apply pressure to lid and snap the catch shut.

This product is easy to install and means I don’t have to go out in the dark or rain for instance to turn my garden lights on or off. A simple touch of the button from my lounge window and hey presto ! Great for intruder spotting I should imagine………..you can light up from the security of being indoors.

    Lighting centrepiece for new garden...
Well after reading a mixed bag of reviews for this product, it has to be said it does everything I need it to. Switches on and off without fail from 30ft in my kitchen. The product itself is simple, easy to install and the only reason for four starts is the build isn’t as robust as it could be, however does the job.

Wired this up the other week so I could put a new light on the patio. It’s got a good build quality and simple easy to follow instructions. Was not hard work putting it up but getting the wires into the terminals was a bit of a ballsache. Wired my pond pump and my acuity light into two of the five outlets and off I went. Worked first time and the remote operates from
Inside the house with the doors shut which surprised me as I thought you would have to be in direct line if the box for it to work. Still three outlets so I’m going to add some feature lights to make that garden useable at night for parties etc. Really pleased with this little box.

    Looks well designed.
This is not really a product one can get excited about; but having said that it took me ages to choose since from previous experience I have become paranoid about water ingress causing a short circuit on a product used outdoors. I only needed a box for a 20 watt LED PIR lamp, and this 30 amp box is rather overkill for my needs, but I wanted a box that could have double cable entry from the bottom to minimise the risk of water ingress. The box seems very well designed and was easy to install. It was nice having the oversize termination block. My only concern was that the cutouts for the cable entry seemed rather too easy to push out, but as everything else looks well designed I’m sure it’s not an issue. Oh, the box isn’t the smallest thing but I’d rather have something with ample space.

Brilliant thing this is. Bit awkward to wire but very well made.theres a lovely clunk noise out of it when it switches just like closing the door on a good car. Good range on the remote too.

Great product, range on remote is good and didn’t have to install in plain site, installed inside of garage and remote works from inside my home. Had a query and the sender replied quickly and resolved the issue fas

    Marvellous
This absolutely does what it states…faultlessly. It works from inside the house, turning on various lights and items in the garden with the press of a button or two. It has never not worked, and we’re delighted with it.

Really like the idea of rubber inserts to cover the screws
Having bought several outdoor junction boxes that were quite frankly, not fit for purpose, I finally found just what I needed. The Knightsbridge 30A IP66 junction box ticks all the boxes. Weatherproof to the highest rating of IP66, solid construction and the added bonus of a five point connector block. Really like the idea of rubber inserts to cover the screws, ensuring no ingress of water once covered. Should be adequate and up to the job for many years to come.

Had Electrician install 2 in the garden for remote control lighting, been in 3 months without problem.

Also with all IP rated sockets I have seen/used opening and shutting the case is fiddly so have not marked down although this one too is a fiddly

Great bit of kit...no more switches!
Absolutely fantastic bit of kit. This means you can remotely control a range of lights from the comfort of your living room. There are 5 circuits…most garden lights are LED these days which is very low current so I have a couple of sets driven off one of the circuits (obviously check the power of the lights you are fitting). The startup instructions weren’t totally clear…I think you can put the battery in the handset and then trigger the link BEFORE you put the cover/power on…I didn’t get this and had to pull the cover off to link it to the remote. I’d also suggest running a cable to a separate (rated) accessory box and connecting to that if using multiple lights on a single circuit as it would get very crowed otherwise.

    it does the job as claimed. however;
    1. the wiring is tricky due to lack of space inside. thank fully you only have to do it once. the distance between the outer body and connector is too short in my opinion.
    2. although it is remote control for outside use i think there is a need for a manual switch off on the unit.
    3. remote off and on are in a strange diagonal pattern. they should be straight.. the marking is too faint as a look of unfinished product.

    so one star off

    Brilliant device. Well worth it.
This is fantastic! I used this to supply power to my pond pumps, filtration system and also pond lights. The remote makes life really simple to control whatever I want on. I leave the filtration on all the time, but I can now switch on some lights, or all of them, also either one or both pond pumps to power the water features. My pumps are not too powerful, but check the amps and make sure you don’t overload the supply – there are 5 outlets, with different ratings, so just make sure you use an appropriately rated outlet for whatever you want to power from this device.
The remote is radio frequency and works from quite a distance. I can switch the pumps and lights on even from upstairs inside the house.
Great product – I can’t fault it and so far it has worked flawlessly. I hope it continues!
