Every home needs these. Some one mentioned they were using them in their office so I thought I would try one as I’m at home.
I do noticed I’m more alert.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersOn the whole this is a great lamp. I haven’t seen anything else combining desk lamp and SAD lamp functions. However, the tap to switch on/brighten mechanism is incredibly annoying. I find I only tend to use it on its brightest setting. This means hitting it repeatedly with short pauses between the hits in order to get it to the light level I want. More than once I have misjudged a tap (or thump – it can be a bit insensitive) and it has switched off instead. I’d be a lot happier if there was a version with an on/off switch. However, it is still a good lamp, once you get past that annoyance.

Nice size for a table lamp, nice and bright for easy reading. Very pleased with it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt works like a charm, both as a regular desk lamp and as a SAD light. The bendy arm allows one to alternate between SAD treatment (LED directly on your face) and desk illumination easily. Also very convenient for Zoom meetings.
The “sense” switch is so poorly designed that I have no idea how it got approved. It’s so sensitive, and located in such an awkward position, that you will inevitably turn the light off or fully on endless times. But while mildly frustrating, it doesn’t make this lamp any less worth it.

I bought this to improve my home work desk as I was finding it too dark and getting low on energy sitting at a laptop/screen. So far, a few days in, it seems to work really well. Definitely bright and throws a bigger area of light than standard LED desk lamps. I don’t find the touch sensor too tricky, it just needs a positive tap to change light setting. One star removed because as other reviewers have noted, it does emit a slight high pitched whine when on anything but the brightness setting. I have tinnitus so it doesn’t bother me that much () and I tend to have it on brightest setting anyway which is quiet but I can understand that it might be annoying for some users. Happy with my purchase and using it as described.

Made a difference within hours – no exaggeration! Cannot imagine working from home without this now! Has had a real impact on energy and focus. Can’t recommend highly enough.

The light is bright. Easy to use. I broughg this for my father eho recently has been struggling to see things. Aging eyes. This certainly helps. Unlike a normal lamp things seem much clearer. It has been a god send.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersSome people, including us, suffer from SAD (seasonally affected disorder – most obviously tiredness and sadness which may be combined with anxiety) when indoors too much and/or in winter months when days are shorter. We’ve tried to “pull ourselves together” and it hasn’t worked, so we decided to spend some serious money on a solution that is used by the British Swimming Team!
It appears to work! My wife has been more lively, brighter, and happier since using this. She has it on the settee next to her for 2 – 3 hours per day. The light is excellent for crafts (her eyes are very sensitive to the wrong sort of light and she had to give up sewing a few years ago due to failing eyesight) so this has been a godsend in letting her do the things she wants to do. She sleeps better and stays awake during the day more. I’d say it’s excellent.
    EXCEPT
The switch is about as loony as they come. The light responds to taps on the base, in and around the area where the Lumie logo is. We haven’t yet worked it out, but it appears that it’s one tap for slightly brighter, until it gets fully bright in which case one tap turns it off. Two taps are ignored, so you can’t turn it on or off quickly.
You’d think with the work they put into the light itself, they would have put less effort into designing the most ridiculous switch.
And no, there are no instructions with the lamp or online about how the switch is supposed to work.

Quite large but good bright light with several brightness levels.
    Like the adjustable neck.
Better suited to a desk or table than my bedside, which is what I intended it for.
    Seems to help SAD.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLove this light. Wasn’t sure whether it’d be worth the money but it definitely has been. Great for working from home in winter. Has definitely helped me avoid those winter lows and actually allowed me to complete some pretty long days without feeling tired. You definitely notice it makes you feel physically different. While the design is a little bit like a floodlight (not everyone’s cup of tea), it works really well as a desk lamp providing the right amount of light (doesn’t blind you). Can keep it on all day (doesn’t get hot due to being LED) and has 4 settings of brightness, which, when coupled with the angling options of the light, make for quite a bit of flexibility in lighting intensity. Others have complained about touch sensor, but once I figured out you just keep your hand on the touch sensitive panel to move through the 4 light settings I actually thought it worked very well. Had it about a month now and very happy. If your a swithering about whether to buy that cheap light or this (as I did), I’d say if your working from home for the next few months it’ll be worth it as when you’ve got it on it doesn’t feel like working in winter.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersI bought this as I frequently work late evening and night shifts at my desk and wanted some “daylight”.

Overall I’m quite impressed. The lamp is very bright as would be expected of such a device. The lamp stem is adjustable in two axes so it’s possible to point the lamp (within reason) at whatever you need it to illiuminate. The lamp body is plastic but has a high quality finish and is very easy to clean with a duster or wiped down with a damp cloth.

There are however a couple of down sides to this lamp. Firstly, even with the diffuser fitted the light is highly directional. If you currently use a more conventional desk lamp with a bulb or typical bulb-replacement LED then be prepared for this lamp to be much more directional. Not sure this would be capable of 1-for-1 replacing any sort of desk lamp for that reason. To be clear it works as a desk lamp and works well, but the light is much more directional than conventional desk lights.

The second and most significant down side is the switch. Or lack of a switch to be precise. The lamp uses a touch control sensor to turn on and off and also to adjust the lamp brightness. On mine the sensor works but is incredibly fussy. Sometimes it refuses to acknowledge a press. Sometimes it needs to be left for a few seconds between presses in order to change the brightness setting. It’s also incredibly fussy about where on the lamp body I have to press. Obviously I didn’t expect the touch sensor to work everywhere but the acceptable area is *tiny*. Frankly operating the touch control is an exercise in frustration rather than being the seamless experience it should be. At this price it’s barely acceptable and I can’t believe that this sensor function actually passed product design testing. I’m far from the only one to have had sensor issues – read the other reviews.

All in all would I recommend this? Yes, it does exactly what it claims to do in terms of offering a really nice daylight experience during darker hours. It does however need a quality control review by Lumie.

Good product. Love the fact that with the touch of a finger you can change the brightness of the light.
Also means you need to keep in touching to switch the light off.
    Looks good too.
Most of all, seems to work

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI’ve wanted a SAD lamp for a number of years but given the expense and my scepticism I kept delaying the purchase! However, I finally took the plunge and all I can say is, wow! This actually really works. I live in Scotland which unfortunately comes with lots of cloud and rain and much shorter days in the winter. This lamp has helped enormously.

I drive to work in the dark, spend my day in the office which has only about 350 lux, then drive home when it’s dark! Not really surprising one might suffer from SADS in that situation. I have been using it at work and its really lifted my mood and given me more energy/motivation.

I didn’t previously understand The biology and science behind the serotonin production triggered from light etc, but now I do I’m very conscious of natural light when I’m out and about, ensuring I’m looking up to soak in as much as I can. I also downloaded a lux level app on my phone which I use to sample the intensity of the sky.

Only criticism I have on this product is its touch switch for turning it on and increasing the light level. Its not that great and difficult to operate at times k. I’d have much preferred a mechanical type switch.

A brilliant product, I use it as a desk light. I can’t explain why it works, but it does. Been in use for 2 months now, no problems, no difficulty with the switch and I use Bluetooth on my laptop.
A great product, if you can afford one, buy it!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersIt’s my first dark Sunday morning with the lamp on. I’d normally feel sluggish and end up having a pyjama day
Surprisingly, I’m still before my first coffee but I dont feel bad or sleepy at all !
The lamp will be taken to the office because ‘winter is coming’…

5.0 out of 5 stars So far so good

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersFantastic Quality Lamp with some very bright settings, a friend of mine commented on how bright it was compared to a cheaper type of lamp he had purchased. There are 4 light or brightness settings and also included is a removable filter that reduces the intensity or brightness which is really useful if you want to use the lamp without having such a strong SAD Therapy Session. The filter enables you to use the lamp as a wonderful reading or activity lamp. All I can say is that as a SAD lamp it really works well certainly helps lift a poor mood I may have and also makes a big impact on my level of alertness and concentration. One thing be careful how late in the day you use the lamp especially on the high intensity setting as it will stop you going to sleep well it did with me. A good purchase and yes more expensive than some of the SAD lamps out there however worth the extra money. A good one.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOn my list for years I am so glad I finally invested in a Lumie product. Used on my desk it gives a great boost to the start of grey days, or in the afternoon when you start to slump and lose motivation. If you need a little help to get through darkness and the British winters, this is a brilliant product.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersGreat product. My third Lumie lamp and favourite so far. Works great at the office. Definitely boosts my mood. It’s a little irritating to have everyone who walks by asking me if it’s a tanning lamp but my patient explanations have already persuaded several of them to buy one. My only small issue with this product is that the touch sensitive button is not that good and you need to touch is sometimes multiple times to get it to work. Also any small touch will activate the button, so sometimes when I’m working it will turn off because something random touches it. Also I have to unplug it overnight as if I don’t I occasionally find it switched on in the morning presumably because the cleaners accidentally touched the button.

we bought this for our daughter, who works long days and doesnt see much daylight in the winter.
Too early to say if it makes a difference, but smart product and she has it placed on her desk.

Follow guidelines and you will be fine.

It definitely makes an improvement in a short period of time.

Great light and simple to use. Flexible neck moves rather too easily so I am concerned that it might get too loose with time; but otherwise it seems to be a well made product.

Good sturdy lamp, not particularly pretty. Have put behind my pc to brighten up the dark mornings and works a treat. I use without the diffuser as the diffuser makes it no brighter than a normal desk lamp

This lamp is simply stunning, it has revolutionised the lighting of my desk. Very bright without being blinding, I wish I’d had something like this years ago. Expensive, but worth every penny in my opinion. You get what you pay for in this case. Only slight negative comment, I would have preferred a mechanical switch rather than the touch one.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI suffer from cluster headaches and depression and have found the lamp to have a positive effect on both things. A few times while using the lamp, my cluster shadows dissipated – which is amazing. The reviews I read before buying mentioned that the switch is a bit poor. I’d have to agree that it can be a bit frustrating, but once it’s switched on, I just leave on my desk while I work, so it’s not that big a problem for me. It is quite expensive for a desk lamp, but it seems to be built well enough and I kind of like the design. I took a gamble and bought one as I needed to try something – and I’m glad I did. Hope others who buy it get some relief.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersDelivery was THE fastest ever in my life and I was very excited to start using my SAD lamp. Sadly, when I opened the package I discovered that instead of EU mains plug there was a UK one.
I looked through all product descriptions if I had missed that detail but I did not find any reference to UK plug. In the past 5 years I always received EU mains plugs to all my interntional orders given that the destination was Hungary.
Now I have to go and look for a UK -> EU adapter before I can start using my new lamp.
Then I can come back and upgrade the rating.
    Update after customer service contact.
After contacting Amazon customer service, I was suggested to by an additional adapter 7-8 GBP and Amazon would take on the shipping cost of a separate UK->EU plug adatpter. This very much surprised me because as the attached picture shows the lamp was fitted with a mains plug that was designed to support different slide-in plugs like a universal travel adapter kit so all it is needed is to get the slide-in EU part for it from the manufacturer probably.

Onto the lamp: indeed, it is a big and expensive desklamp 🙂 I like it though. It is a focused brightness unlike most sad lamps with the light tubes. Directing it on the wall or ceiling to reflect and shine the whole office room in does not work the way I imagined. The dimmer cover is fairly easy to take off on put on. I use the lamp from the side all day on the lowest brightness setting, lighting my desk and laptop while some of the light gets into my eyes. I am not doing the therapy use and still I think it must be working somehow because I am still “awake” at 4 pm in my dark office, I feel to be in a better mood in general despite the cold and winter dark so even if it is the power of suggestion that is at work here I am glad I bought this lamp. The lamp is 5 stars, Amazon however, disappointed me on this occasion.

Nice lamp with UK mains plug

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI am loving this! I have MS and have just returned to Uni as a mature student, so had two issues, 1- anything to help me get through winter and hopefully avoid a relapse, and 2 – a light to work under that I found comfortable.
This is perfect, it not only meets my issues of 1 and 2 so far, it is also the best light to do your make up by I have ever encountered!! No more dark mornings when you get to work and as day light emerges you discover you’ve overdone the blusher and are now rocking the crazy clown look!
Worth every penny. I don’t care for the control panel, but that’s my only niggle, and very minor.
    Highly recommend.

I wasn’t sure what if any difference the light would make to my mood, but after a month of use I would say I definitely have more energy and am generally more positive. As other reviewers have noted its maybe not the prettiest thing in the world but it is sturdy and functional and yep sometimes the brightness button doesn’t respond but overall, for me it does the job so looks and giving a button an occasional extra tap aren’t messing with my particular mojo

Love this lamp! The spread of light across the desk is very good, and I like the fact that there are four light levels to choose from. Purchased a second one for my Dad who also likes using it especially when he is working on his computer as he says there is less strain on the eyes.

I bought this lamp as it is easy to carry to use at work. I have several quieter shifts in peoples own homes and the lighting is not always adequate for either clinical or personal work. Between 4-8pm it gives me a real boost. I use a light box at home.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI’m generally on the sceptical side when it comes to products that are ‘good for you’ but since there actually seems to be sensible research on light I decided to give it a go before I was completely taken over by the wintertime blues. Normally by the time the clocks change I’m grumpy, and by January I’m not a nice person to be around. I’ve had the light for 3 weeks, I’ve got bags of energy, I’m not grumpy and my concentration levels are back to their normal summertime high.

I generally hate electric light, but this one is nice, its white not yellowy and I don’t need to have all my overhead lights on in the office to get the benefit. My Happy light (much better name) is just sitting next to me on the desk and I’m just leaving it on most of the day. Yes it is a bit big and a bit clumsy, but frankly I don’t care, its definitely making me feel good and that was the point of it in the first place.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought this lamp as I wanted a large desk lamp for my new desk. Its simple, modern and sleek looking, it arrived by FedEx only 2 days after I purchased it,in well protected packaging. I’ve not had time to experience the mood elevating effects but am very happy with the look of the lamp and its brightness, its heavy enough not to be knocked off table. This is one of the few SAD lamps that don’t look clumsy or ugly. Very happy purchaser!!.
