Very impressed with this pencil, does everything I needed it to do and at a fantastic price.
There customer service support person who helped me with an enquiry was very professional, thank you.
I use the pencil for taking notes on my iPad and my kids love colouring on it. though it’s not a like for like for Apple Pencil Gen 2 but you get what you pay for. And I love this pencil very good palm rejection and is almost 99.99% accurate no delays the pencil needs just 1 charge a week for moderate use 1 hrs daily.
My Apple Pencil decided to stop working and apple were not interested in helping out. I decided to take a chance on metapen for 20 pound and guess what, it works absolutely fine! I could buy 6 of these for the same price as an Apple Pencil! There is no double tap feature but that isn’t a deal breaker , especially when you save 100 pounds !
Ordered this pen via prime, so it arrived next day.
Easy to set up, just charge it so the light on the pen turns orange/red to white, then double tap the top of the pen to turn it on.
I have a I pad pro 3gen and I use Procreate app for the pen.
This pen is fantastic to use I lost my Apple Pencil and tryed this one and it’s just as good at least half the price if not more and it turns off if you stop using it for a while definitely worth i
I wanted to get an Apple Pencil and when I saw the price, I couldn’t justify it for the amount of use it would get so I looked at alternatives. I had looked at various ones that had magnetic charging capabilities but decided that the battery life that this one gives far outweighs the need to keep it on the iPad to charge constantly.
The pen is great for what I need it for, ok it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that the Apple Pencil has but I don’t need them so I am happy with that.
I have been using this for a week now and can say It does a great job. I haven’t needed to charge it yet but I don’t use it to draw or do too much to be honest. I use it for note taking and general use of my iPad. The only complaint I have is that the magnet for it isn’t that strong
When you think about how much the new USB-C pen is from Apple, this is an absolute bargain. It doesn’t have any pressure sensitivity but for jotting down notes and basic drawing, this is perfect.
This pen is amazing, I’m so happy I didn’t waste money buying the expensive Apple Pencil. It comes with spare nibs and I’ve had the pen for a while but still haven’t needed to change the nib. Left no scratches on my iPad.
Would I recommend? YES!
In the past I’ve owned a couple of pen even an apple original pen that just packed in for no reason an expensive loss..In my opinion this Matapen pencil A8, is value for money and is a lot better than an apple original pen and I highly recommend it. It works perfectly. You won’t be disappointed
I haven’t used the Apple pen so I can’t compare.
I’m not a power user, but just needed something straightforward to draw simple plans for clients and this pen works beautifully on my iPad Pro.
It connects in the blink of an eye and just works.
I love it.
I’m almost as quick using this as I am with pen and graph paper.
I’d definitely recommend using this.
Bought as a cheap replacement when I lost the Apple Pencil. Was a bit skeptical of the reviews but I actually prefer this one. It’s lithe longer which feels more comfortable in my hand. There is a very slight lag that’s barely noticeable but when using it to write or draw on pdf’s the font comes out thinner than the Apple Pencil which makes it much easier/ more natural to write with. I ended finding the original Pencil, but popped that in the cupboard as the spare now.
This is a much more affordable version of the Apple Pencil, works just as well, spare tips, no problems at all, and magnets nicely to the side of the iPad.
Bought this to go with a new 10th gen ipad as apples pen is just too expensive, and needed a pen to experiment with. Not the full functions of the Apple product but has enough for my needs. Charged it for 30mins when it arrived, with the included cable. Was well packaged for delivery and have been very happy with the quality and function of it so far. The magnet will hold it to the side of the ipad but it has to be charged via the included cable. Very happy with this pen for the price.
I’ve been really impressed with this and bought another for my wife. Only use it occasionally but great for making notes, or sketches, etc and it sits neatly in my iPad case.
As per the headline I really can’t fault this – it behaves exactly as it’s supposed to and as advertised. Wireless charging would be nice but at this price point really isn’t an issue.
As a long time lover of my iPad Pro, I have never gotten alone with my apple pen and making handwritten notes on it. It just felt unpleasant and my writing was terrible. This product has changed all that. The film is really easy to apply, but do watch the video first. The writing experience using the film is delightful. Like writing in a really nice quality notebook with your favourite pen or pencil but with less effort from the hand muscles and greater flow. Writing has become a pleasure with the film allowing all my notes to be in one place and not in dozens of notebooks. Save space, save trees and save yourself from hand cramp. I have been delighted with the product and gladly recommend it to others
I bought this because I’ve misplaced my Apple Pencil and needed something to use in the meantime until it turns up again. I don’t use it for graphics, but my planner and all my notes are done with GoodNotes, so I needed something for that.
I just can’t get over how good this is for the money – I didn’t even have to pair it. Every time I think ‘why isn’t it working?’ I realise it’s simply that I haven’t turned it on. Which is very easy to do (double tap to the top), just I need to get used to it after years with the Apple Pencil.
The line with this one when I’m writing seems to be slightly finer than the apple one, which is better for me.
The pen works really well, I bought the pen for my daughters ipad air 4th generation. She loves it and is very happy with it. For the price it is well worth it.
The installation part can be tricky – on my nieces iPad it doesn’t show in her Bluetooth as a device when trying to connect so you assume it’s not connected – just push the button on to- of the pen and it connects automatically “Had to YouTube a guide” it works fine and she’s very happy with it so I’m happy
I bought this as a cheaper option to the Apple Pencil and I’m very happy with it. Definitely a great price for what it is and a great alternative to apple’s version. It’s Compatible with my iPad 10 was a bit wary as it didn’t say it was compatible in the description but works great!
Great pen for the iPad for only a fraction of the price very nice to work with comfortable to hold would recommend buying it far cheaper than the Apple Pencil
I bought this to replace an apple pencil which stopped working. I mostly used the pencil to take notes and the metapen works just as well for 1/4 the price! Really pleased with this purchase.
I bought the A8 and after 6 months got a genuine Apple Pencil v2 bought for me. Comparing the two, the A8 is an absolute bargain. I have the iPad Pro 12.9 4th gen and the A8 works great. The only difference is no double tap to change from pen to rubber, it does not hover or turn on when removed from the side of the iPad and you have to plug it in to charge. It looks almost identical and feels exactly the same to use as the Apple Pencil and the only difference is I feel the palm rejection is slightly better with the Apple Pencil. IMO, the Apple Pencil is not worth 120 difference – buy an A8 and you will not be disappointed.
This is amazing! Much better than the expensive apple pen, 5 stars from me.
So happy I didn’t buy the real apple pen for 5 times the price.
MAYBE if you are an artist and work with your iPad you will see the difference but to be honest, for general usage/journaling etc… it is perfect and 100% worth it. Very happy for now.
(only small negative point is that the magnetic thing to stick to the iPad is not the best but that’s a detail)
A good value stylus, far cheaper than the Apple alternative, and very easy to connect to my iPad.
I had issues with the first A8 pencil not only has it been replaced but they even refunded the money.
Was dubious due to price but perfect pen for what my daughter wanted. Lovely seller. Highly recommended
Does what it says. Very responsive. Yet to test battery life but charges quickly
Great item that works well, easy set up and Is a fraction of the price of an apple one!
Easy to use and much cheaper than the ones apple sells 🙂
Absolute bargain for the price, charging it and turning it on and off is a bit more awkward than Apples official pen but the price more than makes up for i
Haven’t used the official pencil so I can’t comment on how it is compared to that but as it’s own product I absolutely love it! Connects effortlessly and so easy to use, would definitely buy again 🙂
I had purchased this and did have an issue with the pen consistently disconnecting from my iPad – I did leave a review based on this.
However, their Customer Service team reached out to me straight away, offered me a refund AND sent a brand new pen out to me! They believe there was an issue with the sensor on my first one, and wanted to give me one that worked. The new pen is great, no issues so far!
Absolutely fantastic customer service, and so I highly recommend as if you do come across any issues they will be sure to fix as soon as they can!
Worked fine as a replacement for my official Apple pencil (until it was posted back from where I dropped it). But it doesn’t charge magnetically, and the battery life is only a few hours.
Still, it was cheap, so value for money not too bad.
3rd time lucky. This was my 3rd order due other sellers overstating the product.
Credit to the seller for a clear description of compatibility and feature descriptions. The features of this pen are outstanding!
Most of of the listed pens don’t have palm cancellation. With this pen you can actually rest your palm on the iPad and it dosn’t draw or move the page. The sensitivity is absolutely fantastic. The other two I tried was rather missing ink, or was really thick and slow to respond. This pen is fast and perfect for handwritten notes.
I can now go to meetings and take notes electronically or doodle :). Thanks for the accuracy in your listing. Your a credit.
When sticking it to the iPad, the pen can get scratched. Additionally, the charging cover makes the magnetic stick to the iPad fairly unstable so I tend to leave it off. Notably it needs to be charged separately, but otherwise it works fine.
It’s not often I am blown away by a product. Having owned both genuine generations of Apple Pencil, this is the nearest you can get for the price. I sold mine as I didn’t really use them but of late I have found the odd need for drawing and notes for meetings. So here I am. Unless you need pressure sensitivity (mainly artists) you will NOT notice the difference from the Apple version. There are some tiny features like tap twice to erase, but these are no real issues as can be done from whatever app you are using.
No Bluetooth needed, tap the top twice and you are done. No you can’t charge from the magnetic iPad port, but so what. These charge in no time and last for hours. Feels great to use and palm rejection works brilliantly.
A great device at a great price and for casual note takers and drawing folk, for 20 this is a no brainier.
Brought this for the other half, as the IPad pencil was a small fortune. Does exactly what she needs, the page says there are a few functions that aren’t compatible, but you can work round that easy enough. Overall decent IPad pencil worth every penny.
Been using it almost daily for a couple weeks now. Would be better with pressure sensitivity and the palm rejection can be a little off but if you’re new to digital art looking for a budget drawing pen this is for you. Biggest downside is that on occasion it turns off whilst I’m using it, a couple taps on the forehead with the pen and I’m back to business so not the end of the world.
Like this pen a lot. Nothing like it since the one on my last century HP laptop!!
It ran out of battery one time when I was trying to take notes, but did recharge again in 10 mins. An indicator that shows with reasonable accuracy the battery is on its way out would be helpful.
It was also a bit temperamental when trying to switch on – didn’t always do it straight away. I’m hoping I will get to learn the technique and it won’t be an ongoing issue. But at a quarter the price of an Apple pen can’t complain!!
