Brilliant piece of tech
Very impressed with this pencil, does everything I needed it to do and at a fantastic price.
There customer service support person who helped me with an enquiry was very professional, thank you.
One of my best purchases this pencil is great for normal day usage
I use the pencil for taking notes on my iPad and my kids love colouring on it. though it’s not a like for like for Apple Pencil Gen 2 but you get what you pay for. And I love this pencil very good palm rejection and is almost 99.99% accurate no delays the pencil needs just 1 charge a week for moderate use 1 hrs daily.
Perfect for writing only
My Apple Pencil decided to stop working and apple were not interested in helping out. I decided to take a chance on metapen for 20 pound and guess what, it works absolutely fine! I could buy 6 of these for the same price as an Apple Pencil! There is no double tap feature but that isn’t a deal breaker , especially when you save 100 pounds !
Fantastic pe
Ordered this pen via prime, so it arrived next day.
Easy to set up, just charge it so the light on the pen turns orange/red to white, then double tap the top of the pen to turn it on.
I have a I pad pro 3gen and I use Procreate app for the pen.
This pen is fantastic
This pen is fantastic to use I lost my Apple Pencil and tryed this one and it’s just as good at least half the price if not more and it turns off if you stop using it for a while definitely worth i
Who needs to spend over a hundred pounds?
I wanted to get an Apple Pencil and when I saw the price, I couldn’t justify it for the amount of use it would get so I looked at alternatives. I had looked at various ones that had magnetic charging capabilities but decided that the battery life that this one gives far outweighs the need to keep it on the iPad to charge constantly.
The pen is great for what I need it for, ok it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that the Apple Pencil has but I don’t need them so I am happy with that.
Great pen does the job
I have been using this for a week now and can say It does a great job. I haven’t needed to charge it yet but I don’t use it to draw or do too much to be honest. I use it for note taking and general use of my iPad. The only complaint I have is that the magnet for it isn’t that strong
Please read before buying!
I really love this pen and it’s an absolute must buy for artists on a budget! I use this to draw on apps like Procreate and ibis paint and it’s really easy to use. The battery life is pretty good and it takes very little time to charge! I love the fact that you can just double tap the top of the pen and then it’s ready to use! You can also use it while your palm is resting on the iPad and works just the same for maximum comfort. On certain apps ( such as procreate ) you can create different shading affects by tilting the pen and is in my opinion just as good as any Apple Pencil! It also fits in the slot for an Apple Pencil in my ipad case!
Warning! Be careful not to lose it as I went months without it and it ended up beneath my mattress because I’d used it while on my bed and because of this it became scratched as I believe this product is painted white (which explains the matte finish which I personally prefer).
Definitely worth the money and 100% recommend!
Love it!
This pencil is great! It does exactly what I wanted. Hassle-free use, no apps or bluetooth needed. Just turn it on and use it. Its smooth, super responsive, holds charge well and is overall great quality. I use it pretty much entirely now, I rarely have to use my fingers, and even then its only due to a lacking function that is Apple’s fault, not the pencil’s. It works great for drawing, colouring, playing games, scrolling and typing (it also works with the slide-type feature). Great quality at excellent price, I’m very happy!
I am using it on an Air 5. For optimal set-up if you are like me and have a case that includes a pen slot (so the volume buttons are covered by plastic) then I suggest using assitiveTouch to compensate. This also helps me use the pencil, as it does not swipe up from bottom to go home or swipe down to open the notifications/control centres. So with assitiveTouch I have the custom actions to do these things. 1 tap to go home, 2 taps to open menu and hold to open control centre. Then in the top layer menu I have 7 buttons, 2 for volume up and down (eliminates need to use awkward case buttons), 3 links to apps I often switch between, notification centre, screenshot function, and rotate screen function. Then I have turned off Scribble and Only draw with pencil functions. This I find works very well with the pencil and I rarely have to touch the screen.
Quality, Affordable and easy to use
Purchased this recently and was a little cynical of how good it could be. It really hits the ground running, from taking it out of the box, you can use it straight away. It helps that you don’t have to pair it with bluetooth, a couple of taps on the top of the pen and you are good to go.
Great price, attaches itself to your ipad (for the newer models), easy to charge, I’m finding it hard to find anything at all negative about i
It's a good pencil but..
The pen looks good and feels good in the hand. Charging it via USBC was simple, but it does not appear to charge when put against the iPad. Also, the pencil’s magnetism is not sufficient to stick to the iPad.
When using the pencil on the iPad, it works well, except it won’t close a page by flicking the line at the bottom of the screen, and that has to be done by hand.
Had no problems. Easy to use, had enough charge out the box to last a week or so. Didn’t take long to recharger and still going strong over a week after charging.
This pen is AMAZING! comes well packaged and with two extra tips and little covers for the USB-C port which is so helpful. It’s so comfortable to hold and responds insanely well, the iPad just considers it an Apple pencil so it’s very compatible. It fits perfectly onto the iPad magnetically and it’s the perfect size to hold for writing. 10/10, so worth the money and better value than Apples 79 one!
I recently purchased this item as I didn’t want to spend money on an Apple Pencil. For me this pen is absolutely fantastic it is light weight, easy to use and turn on and off. I have been using it for my studies and making notes on my iPad and diagrams and it is smooth with no delays. Makes my writing look really neat and couldn’t be happier with this product. It is definitely worth the money. If I had to be really picky it makes a little noise when using because the nib is plastic but this can be sorted by getting silicone covers if it bothers you. Well worth the money would buy again!
Connects instantly, ideal for note taking and basic drawing
When you think about how much the new USB-C pen is from Apple, this is an absolute bargain. It doesn’t have any pressure sensitivity but for jotting down notes and basic drawing, this is perfect.
You don’t need to buy an expensive Apple Pencil, this works great!
This pen is amazing, I’m so happy I didn’t waste money buying the expensive Apple Pencil. It comes with spare nibs and I’ve had the pen for a while but still haven’t needed to change the nib. Left no scratches on my iPad.
Would I recommend? YES!
It works straight out of the box
In the past I’ve owned a couple of pen even an apple original pen that just packed in for no reason an expensive loss..In my opinion this Matapen pencil A8, is value for money and is a lot better than an apple original pen and I highly recommend it. It works perfectly. You won’t be disappointed
Superb.
I haven’t used the Apple pen so I can’t compare.
I’m not a power user, but just needed something straightforward to draw simple plans for clients and this pen works beautifully on my iPad Pro.
It connects in the blink of an eye and just works.
I love it.
I’m almost as quick using this as I am with pen and graph paper.
I’d definitely recommend using this.
Prefer this to the Apple Pencil!
Bought as a cheap replacement when I lost the Apple Pencil. Was a bit skeptical of the reviews but I actually prefer this one. It’s lithe longer which feels more comfortable in my hand. There is a very slight lag that’s barely noticeable but when using it to write or draw on pdf’s the font comes out thinner than the Apple Pencil which makes it much easier/ more natural to write with. I ended finding the original Pencil, but popped that in the cupboard as the spare now.
Brilliant more affordable version of Apple Pencil
This is a much more affordable version of the Apple Pencil, works just as well, spare tips, no problems at all, and magnets nicely to the side of the iPad.
Good Quality for the price
Bought this to go with a new 10th gen ipad as apples pen is just too expensive, and needed a pen to experiment with. Not the full functions of the Apple product but has enough for my needs. Charged it for 30mins when it arrived, with the included cable. Was well packaged for delivery and have been very happy with the quality and function of it so far. The magnet will hold it to the side of the ipad but it has to be charged via the included cable. Very happy with this pen for the price.
Impressed
I’ve been really impressed with this and bought another for my wife. Only use it occasionally but great for making notes, or sketches, etc and it sits neatly in my iPad case.
Cant fault it, great product at a great price.
As per the headline I really can’t fault this – it behaves exactly as it’s supposed to and as advertised. Wireless charging would be nice but at this price point really isn’t an issue.
Really does what it claims to!
As a long time lover of my iPad Pro, I have never gotten alone with my apple pen and making handwritten notes on it. It just felt unpleasant and my writing was terrible. This product has changed all that. The film is really easy to apply, but do watch the video first. The writing experience using the film is delightful. Like writing in a really nice quality notebook with your favourite pen or pencil but with less effort from the hand muscles and greater flow. Writing has become a pleasure with the film allowing all my notes to be in one place and not in dozens of notebooks. Save space, save trees and save yourself from hand cramp. I have been delighted with the product and gladly recommend it to others
Incredible value for money
I bought this because I’ve misplaced my Apple Pencil and needed something to use in the meantime until it turns up again. I don’t use it for graphics, but my planner and all my notes are done with GoodNotes, so I needed something for that.
I just can’t get over how good this is for the money – I didn’t even have to pair it. Every time I think ‘why isn’t it working?’ I realise it’s simply that I haven’t turned it on. Which is very easy to do (double tap to the top), just I need to get used to it after years with the Apple Pencil.
The line with this one when I’m writing seems to be slightly finer than the apple one, which is better for me.
Great Produc
For the price, its spot on. Not only that but its works great. Charges quick as well and the accuracy is really good. Feels good on hold. My daughter loves it and that’s all that matters to me.
excellent piece of ki
So far so good. Now i have got my head around linking my iPad to my mac mini this is a fantastic piece of kit. Using this now as a graphics tablet and pen. No apparent lag and very precise. I also had an email from the seller prior to delivery, giving me instructions and help line details. Excellent service.
Value for money
This iPad pencil falls short due to significant limitations, notably the lack of essential features such as an eraser. Though it handles basic tasks adequately, the absence of key functionalities might lead users to explore more versatile stylus alternatives.
Brilliant customer service. Provided prompt and reassuring communication. Offered to mitigate concerns. Kept my interest at the centre of everything. Highly recommended.
Great customer service
Original didn’t work, customer service got in touch, apologised and resolved the issue straight away, going above and beyond. Very happy, definitely recommend.
Thanks to whoever was dealing with this! My daughter is now very happy.
Great produc
I bought this as a Christmas present for my dad and he loves it! He said it charged up in half the time it said it would, it has all the features he was looking for like the tilt function and it is very responsive! Great value for money from my perspective too!
We all know that Apple products are beautiful and great quality. We also know how expensive they are. My first time with a pen for iPad. I fancied giving drawing and doodling a go, so thought I would get a pen. As I didn’t know whether I would enjoy doodling, I didn’t want to spend too much. Saw the reviews, and thought at this price, what can go wrong. Anyway. It arrived promptly and was packaged beautifully. Not quite as good as apple, but probably 90% as good. I plugged it in (c charger) and within half hour the pen was ready to go. I bought the white one because then I can always find it. It’s connected to my iPad quickly and I’ve been using it every day since. It is really, really good, and I suspect, it’s as good as apple. Ive used it on notes for the first time, and am impressed. I have a Microsoft pen for my Surface pro, so have something to compare it against, and it’s as good as that pen. Delighted with the pen. I’ve drawn loads of things (utter rubbish as you can imagine), but thoroughly enjoyed playing with it. Definitely a good purchase.
good value bu
he pen works well but is a pain to turn on or off have to tap end as pushing with finger don’t seem to work.
shame as would have given max stars if it worked
Great price
The pen works really well, I bought the pen for my daughters ipad air 4th generation. She loves it and is very happy with it. For the price it is well worth it.
Great m little pen for a great price
The installation part can be tricky – on my nieces iPad it doesn’t show in her Bluetooth as a device when trying to connect so you assume it’s not connected – just push the button on to- of the pen and it connects automatically “Had to YouTube a guide” it works fine and she’s very happy with it so I’m happy
I bought this as a cheaper option to the Apple Pencil and I’m very happy with it. Definitely a great price for what it is and a great alternative to apple’s version. It’s Compatible with my iPad 10 was a bit wary as it didn’t say it was compatible in the description but works great!
The pe
Great pen for the iPad for only a fraction of the price very nice to work with comfortable to hold would recommend buying it far cheaper than the Apple Pencil
Don’t waste your money on an Apple Pencil!
I bought the A8 and after 6 months got a genuine Apple Pencil v2 bought for me. Comparing the two, the A8 is an absolute bargain. I have the iPad Pro 12.9 4th gen and the A8 works great. The only difference is no double tap to change from pen to rubber, it does not hover or turn on when removed from the side of the iPad and you have to plug it in to charge. It looks almost identical and feels exactly the same to use as the Apple Pencil and the only difference is I feel the palm rejection is slightly better with the Apple Pencil. IMO, the Apple Pencil is not worth 120 difference – buy an A8 and you will not be disappointed.
Great apple pencil alternative
I bought this to replace an apple pencil which stopped working. I mostly used the pencil to take notes and the metapen works just as well for 1/4 the price! Really pleased with this purchase.
5.0 out of 5 stars Better than apple.
This is amazing! Much better than the expensive apple pen, 5 stars from me.
Very good
So happy I didn’t buy the real apple pen for 5 times the price.
MAYBE if you are an artist and work with your iPad you will see the difference but to be honest, for general usage/journaling etc… it is perfect and 100% worth it. Very happy for now.
(only small negative point is that the magnetic thing to stick to the iPad is not the best but that’s a detail)
5.0 out of 5 stars Good value
A good value stylus, far cheaper than the Apple alternative, and very easy to connect to my iPad.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great customer service
I had issues with the first A8 pencil not only has it been replaced but they even refunded the money.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect pe
Was dubious due to price but perfect pen for what my daughter wanted. Lovely seller. Highly recommended
5.0 out of 5 stars 👍
Does what it says. Very responsive. Yet to test battery life but charges quickly
5.0 out of 5 stars Great item works easy
Great item that works well, easy set up and Is a fraction of the price of an apple one!
5.0 out of 5 stars Good
Easy to use and much cheaper than the ones apple sells 🙂
How is this £20?
Absolute bargain for the price, charging it and turning it on and off is a bit more awkward than Apples official pen but the price more than makes up for i
Love it!
Haven’t used the official pencil so I can’t comment on how it is compared to that but as it’s own product I absolutely love it! Connects effortlessly and so easy to use, would definitely buy again 🙂
Initially had issues, but their customer service picked it up straight away and rectified it!
I had purchased this and did have an issue with the pen consistently disconnecting from my iPad – I did leave a review based on this.
However, their Customer Service team reached out to me straight away, offered me a refund AND sent a brand new pen out to me! They believe there was an issue with the sensor on my first one, and wanted to give me one that worked. The new pen is great, no issues so far!
Absolutely fantastic customer service, and so I highly recommend as if you do come across any issues they will be sure to fix as soon as they can!
Does not charge magnetically and battery life a bit poo
Worked fine as a replacement for my official Apple pencil (until it was posted back from where I dropped it). But it doesn’t charge magnetically, and the battery life is only a few hours.
Still, it was cheap, so value for money not too bad.
3rd time lucky. This was my 3rd order due other sellers overstating the product.
Credit to the seller for a clear description of compatibility and feature descriptions. The features of this pen are outstanding!
Most of of the listed pens don’t have palm cancellation. With this pen you can actually rest your palm on the iPad and it dosn’t draw or move the page. The sensitivity is absolutely fantastic. The other two I tried was rather missing ink, or was really thick and slow to respond. This pen is fast and perfect for handwritten notes.
I can now go to meetings and take notes electronically or doodle :). Thanks for the accuracy in your listing. Your a credit.
Works, but scratches easily
When sticking it to the iPad, the pen can get scratched. Additionally, the charging cover makes the magnetic stick to the iPad fairly unstable so I tend to leave it off. Notably it needs to be charged separately, but otherwise it works fine.
It’s not often I am blown away by a product. Having owned both genuine generations of Apple Pencil, this is the nearest you can get for the price. I sold mine as I didn’t really use them but of late I have found the odd need for drawing and notes for meetings. So here I am. Unless you need pressure sensitivity (mainly artists) you will NOT notice the difference from the Apple version. There are some tiny features like tap twice to erase, but these are no real issues as can be done from whatever app you are using.
No Bluetooth needed, tap the top twice and you are done. No you can’t charge from the magnetic iPad port, but so what. These charge in no time and last for hours. Feels great to use and palm rejection works brilliantly.
A great device at a great price and for casual note takers and drawing folk, for 20 this is a no brainier.
Good IPad pencil
Brought this for the other half, as the IPad pencil was a small fortune. Does exactly what she needs, the page says there are a few functions that aren’t compatible, but you can work round that easy enough. Overall decent IPad pencil worth every penny.
Good for what you pay fo
Been using it almost daily for a couple weeks now. Would be better with pressure sensitivity and the palm rejection can be a little off but if you’re new to digital art looking for a budget drawing pen this is for you. Biggest downside is that on occasion it turns off whilst I’m using it, a couple taps on the forehead with the pen and I’m back to business so not the end of the world.
Like this pen a lot. Nothing like it since the one on my last century HP laptop!!
It ran out of battery one time when I was trying to take notes, but did recharge again in 10 mins. An indicator that shows with reasonable accuracy the battery is on its way out would be helpful.
It was also a bit temperamental when trying to switch on – didn’t always do it straight away. I’m hoping I will get to learn the technique and it won’t be an ongoing issue. But at a quarter the price of an Apple pen can’t complain!!
