View on an app or the 5 inch parent uni
Comes well packaged with the camera, monitor, 2 power plug cables, wall mount, crib mount set, and simple quick start instructions. A good quality camera and a good size 5 inch lcd portable monitor. Easy to use and set up. Clear and precise picture in both day and night. In daylight it’s in full colour mode, night time viewing is greyscale infrared image to see all delicate movements of your little one clearly. The camera needs minimal set up, easy as plug in and paired almost instantly. You can also download the Motorola nursey app so it can be viewed on your mobile phone or device, it even works with alexa or google assist. It has a built in microphone and speaker to enable 2 way talk, pre recorded soothing sounds and lullabies to help aid your little one back to sleep without the need of going into the room and disturbing them. The monitor also shows the rooms temperature so you can ensure its not too hot or cold in there and has a clear battery indicator level. You can fix the cameras mount to the wall, but no screws or plugs are included for this, which is alittle unusual. The camera then sits in the mount magnetically, the connection is strong and doesnt move or fall out. You can also set the crib mount up and have the camera over the crib, giving an overhead view. Clear and a great picture quality. It specifies as digital pan, tilt and zoom, so you adjust this on the monitor. The camera itself doesn’t move, you would have expected this to have this feature with its price tag though. In 1x you see a large area of the room, you can move the picture, put it in 2x it zooms in and then you can move the arrow keys and move the screen in the close up view, but it’s not a different view or angle of your 1x image. Strong and stable signal range, up to 300m, no worry of it dropping in and out anywhere. Battery life is okay, you can always use the monitor with the cable plugged in if needed, which we tend to do over night. You do get a low battery alert, so wont just automatically switch off. It also alarms you if the camera gets disconnected. The monitor screen is easy and simple to navigate. I always prefer a physical monitor rather than keep looking on an app on my phone. It is a good camera, and nice you get the option of using the monitor or your device. Gives you a great piece of mind, it’s just quite a costly set up.
Complete se
I’ve been searching for a baby monitor that not only comes with a monitor but can also be accessed through a mobile app, here it comes! This baby camera is incredible, exceeded my expectations.
The picture quality is excellent, and the sound is crystal clear. At home, I can conveniently carry the monitor around and use my phone simultaneously. When out and about, I can easily view my baby through the mobile app. It’s been working flawlessly so far, and I highly recommend it, despite the higher price. It’s definitely worth the investment.
Nice
This Motorola Nursery VM65X Connect – Halo Video Baby Monitor with Crib Holder – 5 Inch Parent Unit and WiFi App – Flexible Magnetic Camera Mount, White is great! Nice quality easy to use easy to install! Setup is easy! Nice video resolution works fine good value for money
Good Quality but Quite Expensive
This is no doubt a high-quality baby monitor.
It works quite well and seems to be fairly reliable. It was easy to set up with various options for mounting the camera exactly where you want it.
The picture quality isn’t the best but is good enough to see what is going on and whether or not they are awake. It also has some nice features such as 2-way talk and being able to play a song to help them go back to sleep.
It can also connect to an app which is handy if you leave the monitor in a different room.
The biggest downside is the price. It is a lot of money and you can get similar products for cheaper. You are however paying for a known brand which is reliable and well-made. I would recommend it overall.
Lot features but expensive
This arrives in branded box and is quality expect from trusted brand.I had my daughter test this and she had no problem setting up and connecting to monitor and phone. The camera can be positioned in lots of ways either positioning on cot to wall.Works well as camera and has features such as play lullabies to baby when wakes, audio works well and have no complaints on quality but is expensive
Expensive but probably worth
Let’s start with the negative point for me: Price its exaggerated and picture quality doesn’t seem the best or neither HD.
Positives: Stylish and modern, easy to use and install with variety of ways for installation including baby monitor with crib holder.
24 hr monitoring with temperature records nd alerts.
Use your phone (motorola app) or provided monitor.
The best features are 2 way talk and being able to play lullaby and soothing song for your baby. That’s awesome.
Def recommend but should be bit cheaper. however brands sell as well.
Good product but a little unreliable
The picture quality on this monitor is really good and I find that the battery lasts well. I wouldn’t expect it to last for weeks as it plays sound and displays a good picture. I generally charge it around once a week after a few hours of use.
I really like the fact that the camera unit plays stories and different music options (including white noise) and that the volume is variable. I also like that the camera unit is rechargeable, even if it only lasts for a short time it’s useful for those who may want to use it when camping.
I was disappointed to find that most nights the camera unit disconnects from the parent unit leaving me with no picture at all. When it reconnects itself it no longer shows an accurate temperature on screen (it shows much higher – which in the early days panicked me a bit). Picture quality and sound are great!
I love that you can link it to an app so you can see baby even if you are out for the night!
The camera stand/ grips are amazing too!
We struggled setting up our last one as had nowhere to sit it so that you could see baby but this lets you use it as a stand or wrap it around things- it’s extremely grippy and doesn’t slip! Probably one of the best features in the box if I’m honest! And saved us having to buy an arm to hook the camera to for babies cot.
The monitor is a great size too and allows good movement in the toggle mode to see baby.
Versatile
First impressions of quite good the set of instructions is really participate cumbersome as it’s a pull-out open up wide set of instructions but they are easy to follow easy to read the graphics and diagrams are very good overall quite pleased and within these instructions you have the ability to set up for WiFi internet viewing via QR code which are absolutely impressed with very easy to set up very easy to download I love that I’m able to view what’s going on why I’m at work brilliant
Really impressed how versatile the camera system is as you can have it on three different attachments to the cart or freestanding gooseneck please very comprehensive in its build everything seems really easy to put together over the moon
However does have a very high price point and you have two power source plugs constantly o
Pricey, but works well
Got this for my little niece. Its was not the easiest set up, however once connected via app it was smooth sailing. The app is very straightforward.
Goood night vision!
Easy to connect to wifi, had to change my wifi settings, but its fine.
Control on the screen can be a little slow while trying to move the camera.
I love that it comes with 2 cameras! Seems to be well built and should last few generations.
However the price, there are similar cameras for half of the price. Hence 4 stars.
Like of perks and accessories, but picture quality is lacking
There’s a lot to unpick with this baby monitor, good parts and bad parts:
+ Crazy variety on how to attach the camera, wall mounted, perched on a surface/side, or the other mounted option with the poles – which is brilliant if you’re not allowed to drill into the walls of your house.
– The crib mounted pole didn’t fit on my crib, even at the lowest setting it wouldn’t fit under my crib – probably because it has drawers underneath it, so I tried to mount it to my sons clothes drawers, but could attach the top.
+ The magnetic camera holder is brilliant for angling, lots of possibilities to ensure the crib and baby are in focus.
– Picture quality is not good, either in day or night mode. Day mode i quite pixelated and the Lloyds are very muted. Dark night mode there is a lot of glare that makes the image hard to see.
+ Add ons wise, the camera is super smart. It can soon and rotate from the monitor screen. Not only does it play music, it can also read out bed time stories – which is insane.
– The monitor screen takes a while to charge initially, and is nt ready to be used out of the box as it needs charging for some time.
Overall, this it quite a demanding price, and arguably worth it for the accessories and functionality – BUT it doesn’t hit the mark on image quality.
Complete Package
Motorola Nursery VM65X Connect – Halo Video Baby Monitor with Crib Holder – 5 Inch Parent Unit and WiFi App – Flexible Magnetic Camera Mount, White
Lovely modern design, quick and easy to set up and maintains a strong connection. It has many features including a 2 way microphone, room temperature and lullabies. The picture quality is brilliant and has the added bonus of night vision. The crib arm allows you to position the camera with a full view of the cot at all times and attaches easily and feels secure. Would highly recommend to anyone with a young baby.
Only down side in my opinion is the price, its does seem pretty expensive however overall it is an excellent baby monitor and more! Offers so many other features that a standard monitor would not.
Great camera with the screen, but the app and WIFI connectivity are not so good.
We have been using this camera for about 4 months now- here is my honest review.
The good:
The camera is really good quality, especially when viewed on your phone. it is always very clear even in complete darkness thanks to the nighttime mode (which it automatically switches to when the light level is low)
The temperature readout and the notification tone when it is too hot were pretty handy during the summer. The monitor lasts for several hours with the screen on and longer when it is off. There is a few LEDs along the top to indicate noise level.
The nightlight is rather nice as you can change it’s colour on the app. It projects a ‘space scene’ onto the ceiling which does not move, but bits turn on and off. My daughter finds both of these things quite distracting and it can often calm her when she is in one of those fighting to stay awake moods. It will play tunes, but we tend not to use them.
The Reasonable:
The over-crib stand is good, sturdy and secure. The power cable connects directly to it so there are no wires near the baby, but it’s leg is not long enough for the cot, and it requires quite a gap to get the bolt through to hold onto the bars. We initially had it on a small bedside crib, but it would only fit on the end because of this. There is a large plastic domed bolt that helps hold the bars and is therefore inside the cot- it is not particularly pretty, it is of occasional interest to my little one, but she will never manage to unscrew it, and it has a rounded end to ensure that it is not sharp and won’t hurt them.
The Bad:
The app is not good. First off, to use a lot of the features, you have to buy a subscription which is quite expensive for what it is. You can view the camera on your phone, and the image quality is really good. It lets you capture a still image or a video easily. It shows you event data, but this is only if you pay. You can turn the lights, projector and lullabies on and off easily with the app and use your phone to talk to the child (the quality is not too bad, but I am not sure that they realise it is you). There is a ton of junk parenting advice, and a baby growth tracker which is not that great. It would be nice if they made the core functionality better and that might entice people to purchase some of the packages, but until that point, I will not be.
The hardware was incredibly unreliable to start with. It would not firmware update, it would frequently disconnect from the WiFi and not reconnect until power cycled. Thankfully, a firmware update that has applied seems to have resolved many of these issues. The picture quality on the phone is much better than the supplied screen- WiFi has much higher bandwidth than the DECT method and it really shows. You can turn up the throughput in the settings for the camera too. It would be really nice to be able to stream directly from the camera on the local LAN, but this does not appear possible and I spent a lot of time investigating this, port probing, etc.
There is a website where you can potentially log in on your PC, but it uses Adobe Flash, which back in 2017 Adobe announced was end of life and will become out-of-support at the end of 2020. Modern web browsers do not support Flash content, or you have to go into menus to re-enable it. Motorola really need to fix this!
The box says it has Google Assistant integration- this is diabolical and should not be on the box. You have to find the integration as it is not listed properly. You can do things such as check the temperature, start and stop the lullaby. You cannot stream the video to you Google Home or Chromecast. Also, most of the time it just does not work or becomes unlinked. Do not buy it thinking that this would be useful (as I did). Look at the reviews for ‘Hubble Home Google Assistant’ if you are thinking this might be useful.
Freedom of movement for mothers
A gift for my sister after a month she still thanks me for this blessing. Let me quote her ” i can pee in piece and watch my baby sleep !”
Worth it.
Great Monito
Great monitor, easy to set up and battery life. You can connect the camera to your phone as well so you can view of someone else is looking after your child. The camera detaches so you can use it in their play room when they are older and it has story books and music/ white noise etc. I’m not sure why it had bad reviews on here! I think it’s great, moved baby into nursery easily with this monitor and my fav feature is it takes a photo and logs the time of any movement throughout the night so in the morning you can review how well the baby slept on the phone app.
Bought this as first time parents. The camera itself is good and we really like that it could be used detached or on the halo set up above his bed now he is in his cot. The parent unit is good, good picture and sound, works fine throughout the house and out in the garden. The white noise sounds quite ‘robotic’ so doesn’t really work as proper white noise I don’t think, it made no difference to our little one so we bought a separate product for that. The App is good though connectivity can be hit and miss on that and we often have to re-pair our phones with the unit. The temperature gauge is also a bit hit and miss and sometimes shows a different temperature on the parent unit to the App for some reason. Not sure I would pay the full price for this but we got it on Prime Day at a good discount so worth it for us.
Wow! Unreal monito
It’s class! Don’t know why someone would write a bad review about this monitor unless they want it to feed to child aswell the picture and sound quality is brillant which is all you want really but besides that it’s got cool changing lights and a picture light show reflects onto the ceiling and it plays loads of different music and you can work them all together or separately. And an extra bonus is the app…. I love it, it can notify you if there is movement also allows you to change the lights or music! I freaking love it. The only bad thing I can say is I have the music turned down to the last but it’s a tad too loud besides that it’s more than perfec
Excellent video quality
So far so good. The picture quality is really good and any noises from the baby are easily picked up. The nightlight projections are a nice feature as are the lullabies. Only slight issues are a) that the audio volume is a little low at the camera end when talking into the speaker of the handheld video unit and b) if you switch the handheld video receiver unit on and it can’t pair with the camera then it starts making a loud beeping noise which is loud enough to wake a sleeping baby.
Happy with my purchase!
Ordered this during cyber Monday and have been using it since January. I’m very happy with our purchase and love the light function on it for nighttime changes.
Super easy to setup and easy to use. No issues with WiFi since we use a WiFi satellite to extend our WiFi range and have had no issues with it whatsoever. People complaining about WiFi issues should check their WiFi strength.
Picture quality is crystal clear and love I can see my babe in my phone and get alerts if I choose to!
After reading some of the reviews, I was little bit worried to buy this camera, but cannot be more happy with it!
I have been using it for a few weeks and cannot say one negative thing about it!
Very easy to install and use, looking great and it has amazing features. The main benefit for us is definitely having main unit as well as mobile app.
Our baby boy loves the projector, it’s lovely and colourful, very entertaining!
Two way audio is great and the room temperature is my favourite! Just to add it is accurate, we have been cross checking with another thermometer.
The app is really great, it has many lullabies includes already, but you can add more or record your own voice. Also the pre-recorded stories are not bad at all.
Once the camera is on, you will receive notifications on your phone when the baby moves (this can be turned off in phone settings) and all sounds are picked up and you can hear them clearly via the main unit (or the app).
UPDATE AFTER USING FOR 3 MONTHS:
My baby now resisting the cot bed (as they do :-D), so we have been doing loads of co-sleeping, which is not a problem as the camera is detachable and the wire is more than long enough for the camera to be put on the bed.
No issues so far and we love this camera, especially the projector! It has to be put on for each nap and night sleep as my baby absolutely love it and looking for it all the time , really happy with the purchase:-)
UPDATE AFTR USING FOR 12 MONTHS:
Using this daily, still co-sleeping, so we have stood the monitor up behind the bed headboard.
Our now 16 months baby loves the projector now more than ever, it has to be on all the time when we in the room. I usually put it on for him when he is waking up from his nap which gives me 10-15mins.
Would definitely recommend.
Hope you find this helpful 🙂
Good and bad
Good monitor however our baby’s favourite song 01 has a glitch in it which is quite annoying and when you press Talk button there is a lag of your message being delivered so if the child is replying you can’t hear what they are saying.
Good but not perfec
Would like to give this full marks however the video quality in daylight and night vision is a little poor given the age of technology we’re in. The design of this unit is brilliant though and does bring something new to the market on these kind of baby monitors. The ability to use the parent unit and the out of house ability gives this bonuses points but the software could be better on that front. Packaged very well and more than impressed with this but the price is a little high for what you get. If you’re looking for a good baby monitor with added functionality then the halo is certainly worth considering. Battery life of the parent unit is very good too, I don;t have to run off for batteries every few days.
Excellent quality baby monito
There aren’t enough superlatives to describe this monitor. It’s a breeze to set up, and the flexibility offered by the accessories is brilliant. It can be used with or without the bracket for a range of different angles. The monitor is great and the picture and sound quality are incredible. If you can pick this up at a price that work for you it is well worth getting your hands on.
Overhead cot views are great, but...
The main selling point of the Motorola Halo is that it attaches to the side of cots and provides a full, unimpeded, overhead cot view. This is great, as most other monitor cameras have to placed on cabinets or shelves, meaning cot bars can impede the view, or some of the cot is out of vision because of the angle.
However, while the Halo is good with a very young baby that cannot stand up, once children get older and prop themselves up on cot bars, the Halo’s fittings are sitting there waiting to be bashed and messed with. Depending on your child’s “curiosity”, this could be a disaster.
Beyond this overhead view, I like how the camera can be detached from the Halo and used standalone. This is great with smaller babies, if having a nap time in a bassinet elsewhere in the house.
The night light is a nice feature, as are the astronomical light shows, while the lullabies, two-way speak and increasingly stalkerish apps these things come with are both par for the course these days, and somewhat redundant, from my experience. I have never used a two-way speak option. If my baby is crying, I will go in. If not, I will leave them alone, rather than confuse them by projecting my voice into their room unannounced.
The parent unit has a lovely big screen in full HD, good range and good battery – all of which are standards for Motorola, from the wide range of baby monitors I have tried through the Amazon Vine programme. Motorola beats BT every time – mainly because Motorola units don’t stop working within three or four months.
Overall, this is about as all-encompassing as you can get for a baby monitor, and the price tag is accordingly high.
Whether you opt for this is really down to personal preference. The app is something I would never use. If I am out the house, I let whoever is in the house take care of baby. I would like to think this is a sign of me not being neurotic. Others may disagree and want access to an app that “detects motion triggered by your baby moving around when in the cot, captures this data and presents it on a graph form to help you oversee your baby’s activity levels during the night.” If you don’t feel you want – or want to pay – for this kind of coverage, I would opt for a more standard Motorola monitor at around 40% cheaper. Yes, you lose the overhead cot view, but as mentioned above, this may become problematic anyway once the child gets older.
Can’t fault the product – it does what it says it will do, and does it very well – but I am just not sure that what it does will suit everyone.
Great quality monito
I am really impressed with this baby monitor.
It was so easy to set up and very easy to use. The picture quality is superb – the best I have seen from a monitor. It is really clear and gives you a wide picture.
The sound quality is also impressive. I like being able to talk to my son through it – this is great for giving him a bit of reassurance without disturbing him by going into his room.
The sleep mode feature is very handy too – it means the unit isn’t glowing by your bed all night.
The battery life is good too.
Very good product and one that would give you all the reassurance you need as parents of little ones.
Great all round camera
This is a great camera, we love it. So easy to set up and use too.
The picture, both at daytime & nighttime is very clear. You also get a very clear vision off the entire cot and your baby.
The sound is brilliant too. All the added features are a great bonus. The camera goes into sleep mode after 5/30/60 min intervals…. this is fab for during the night as you can keep the monitor nearby & check it as you please, yet it goes into sleep mode as you’ve set it, so the screen lights do not keep you awake. You can even speak to your baby/child through the monitor if needed. The nightlight options are also great.
The battery power off charge is also very good in comparison to other cameras we have had.
Would highly recommend this product and it’s truly worth the money.
Best monitored child around
Let’s cut to the chase here, this is an expensive monitor. But, with the price in mind, what would you pay to ensure you can monitor your babies safety? So, after some thought I decided that it is a valued piece of kit but that it is something that should therefore be perfect too.
It fits my wooden framed cot. From what I can see of other reviews, this is a common thing, it fits wooden frames best.
It isn’t a bad bit of kit either. It really is a good monitor once you get to grips with it.
The camera and unit fit to your cot, with an adaptor. The camera pairs easily and you can view this from the hubble app too. Very easy to pair. The app itself I found quite illogical but for simple use of monitoring and talking back to bub, it isn’t an issue for me.
The camera works very well, it is very clear and picks up movement very clearly and swiftly. The screen is also a decent enough size and the night vision works very well.
I am in a semi detached 1930s property and this does work across the house. But, if your house is thick walls or very large, it may struggle.
My 5 year old still hasn’t gotten used to me speaking to bub through the mic. It does confuse the life out of him. The night light is lovely but I don’t tend to use the lullabies personally, though a nice touch.
It is a nice to have, it works well and is far superior to anything I had with my previous children.
It does look like something out of a sci fi film!
Great high-tech baby monito
Excellent video baby monitor. I have synced this with my smartphone easily and it works very well with both picture and sound. The halo over the cot is easy to fit and it does not look as big and cumbersome as some of the pictures suggest. The picture quality is great and the night mode works well too. A great investment to ensure safety of child.
Clever design if you have traditional co
We have had a BT monitor which worked well, but once our little moved into the cot, we found we didn’t have anywhere to place it that the cot wall didn’t slightly obscure the view. This is the triumph of the design of this, the camera hovers above the cot giving you a proper birds eye view. Everything was very easy to put together. No issues pairing the unit with the monitor, and the monitor is a good size with clear sound. The monitor does the job well enough I haven’t felt the need to download the phone app. Biggest annoyance was that the boxes it was delivered in were not far off being the size you would associate with a fridge freezer or similar item. Cardboard madness! Also, there is no hiding that this is a pricey bit of kit. But if you do have a traditional cot, and want a birds eye view, then this really is worth taking a look at.
Good
This is a good baby monitor solution from motorola.
So lets head on through what you get. The camera, the parent unit and an adaptor to fit it to your cot.
Pairing the camera to the parent unit was very simple. The secret sauce here is that you can also view the camera over the internet by downloading and pairing the camera with the hubble app. Also very straightforward.
Camera quality is superb. With our first son we had a BT Monitor and this is night and day better.
The parent unit has a decent size screen and batteyr life is ok. If you ahve an older house with solid stone walls it may struggle a bit, but that is the same for a lot of signals and so your environment really dictates the range etc and so be realistic about this.
The halo adaptor works well on a cot and positions the camera perfectly, As time goes on we will remove the arc and use the camera on a shelf to survey the room when needed.
Theres a anight light, light show and lullabies all of which are effective in their own right and handy if you use them.
Good overall package
Great buy
The battery life for the screen could be better but the camera itself is brilliant. I wish you could have the option to have more cameras to the halo range.
We’re over the moon with our new monitor for our baby.
The Halo+ has a really easy to use Wi-Fi app and also includes a handy parent unit if you don’t want to use your smartphone or tablet to watch your child.
The baby monitor was really easy to set up, just plug in the monitor and the parent unit and once paired it’s ready to use. I think ours took less than a minute to set up.
Again, with the app it was just a case of downloading the Hubble monitor app and sync it over the Wi-Fi and we were all set.
The Halo+ comes with this unique arc that attaches to the cot so you can have a complete birds eye view of inside the cot, which we find extremely useful as our son likes to roll around a lot in his sleep and it’s always been quite difficult to find a camera position that covered the entire area.
The night light, light show and lullabies that the Halo+ produces are a nice touch too. The camera itself can easily detatch from the arc if you want to move the camera from room to room.
Overall we’re really happy with this product and would recommend to any expecting parents.
