Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe best boombox/ghetto blaster I’ve owned or heard. The sound is rich and powerful, the bass boost function makes a noticeable and significant difference. It’s equally great for hip hop and rock, I still buy and play CDs, so that’s how I’ve tested it.
The lid has a smooth mechanism, the whole thing feels well made and premium.
I’ve only played it up to volume 34 of 50, but the top floor of the house was rattling. It’s also a smaller unit than you might think.
If you think you’ll make enough use of it, especially if you play a lot of CDs, I think it’s worth the money it costs. I paid extra for remote control functionality.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersRemarkable and powerful sound for its size sounds much much louder than stated
The DAB is flawless and the cd player section sounds super rich and very clean in fact the whole sound quality is crystal clear and excellent this is why it’s more expensive than others and obviously the price is a lot higher it is also made in Malaysia not China!!

The ariel (teloscopic) is a generous size going higher than on other boom boxes (portable stereos)

The FM is a little hissy but it’s thats all really the USB selection while scrolling through music files is pretty fast and not much of a delay and its round the back of the device that I prefer as it looks much neater that a large uglay flash Drive stuck out of the front!!!

I think the volume goes up to about 50 I can push it to about 35 without any degrade in sound…. at around 28 onwards it starts to go exceedingly loud….. and I don’t hear any loss of bass it will however slightly loose some richness when pushed to 40 to 50 but I don’t think it needs to be pushed that loud anyway,

it seems to handle a lot of power without loosing the bass at a higher level than some cheaper stereos meaning it can take more gain pushing without distorting.

I’ve had boom boxes that go to 40 but start to looses sound quality at around 23….

Also this Panasonic does not have AUX or 3.5 jack even though I’m old school it’s still worth the money I like to play CDs I have over 4,000 I will never get rid of!!!

I wanted something portable with a CD and Bluetooth function that I could also use as a speaker for my laptop. There wasn’t much out there but this fits the bill nicely.

Ive bought Panasonic before and they’ve always been excellent bits of kit. It feels solid and like it will last for decades, made in Malaysia as stated on the back of it. Sound quality excellent very gentle tone but with loads of power 20 watts. A full sound, I would like to say if you are after a CD player / dab+ this machine does not have a backlight so at night you can’t see anything but I think this is good because this saves power especially if you are running it on batteries. Runs on ac as well both uk lead and eu 2 pin came with it. A must buy in my opinion!

Having owned many boomboxes over the years i have to say this blows them all out of the water. Its a lot more expensive than most others but you get what you pay for. The build quality and sound really is of a high standard. If i could fault it in any way it would be no headphone jack or LW and MW radio other than that its pretty much the best boombox on the market in my opinion. Highly recomended.

I’m enjoying this Radio CD player very much. It looks good, the sound quality is excellent and certainly doesn’t lack power. The sound-boost is a very useful feature for us, because it sharpens voice broadcasts to make them much clearer for someone in the family who is very hard of hearing.

The radio tuned into all available DAB/+ stations without any fuss. As well as modern music CDs, the
player handled some really old CD-R recordings easily.

As someone else mentioned, the display can be tricky to read, partly because the viewing window is reflective. However, I keep a torch nearby (which might not be an agreeable solution for some) which enables me to read the display easily, when needed

Overall I am extremely happy with the purchase.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersPer il tipo di stereo, buono.

Absolutely amazing sound from such a small unit, very surprised as only bought it for my sewing room.
Quality of material appears ok , not the best but not the cheapest either.
Remote simple to use, although I very rarely use it.
Dislike the display as not backlit but manageable.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe sound from this is brilliant for what I need, soft artic wind at a very low volume helps me get to sleep. Having a miniature USB stick in the back stops the whine from the CD player interfering with the aid in getting to sleep. You can crank the volume up when needed which is also very good. All in all a really good buy, if need be would buy again hopefully though not for a few years, time will tell.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this to replace a recently purchased Philips model which was completely underwhelming. This Panasonic unit impresses all the way – great sound, and I seem to be getting more DAB stations now. There is plenty of volume and the sound effects actually make a difference. The speakers really are very good – crystal clear, no distortion and with loads of oomph!

The only negatives are that the LED screen showing function operations isn’t illuminated, and it can be a bit difficult to make out the text clearly, and there seems to be no headphone socket. Also, the Basic User’s Guide is… very basic, and stuffed full of other languages. But there is a 21 page English User’s Manual available for download as a PDF file on the link on the front page of the Basic guide – I strongly urge buyers to download this as it is comprehensive and detailed and well worth printing out.

I was looking for a device to play CDs mainly. I spotted this item and really what drew me in was the brand. I was a bit sceptical that 20w would be enough and that the sound would be tingy but I’ve been using for a several hours now and I have to say I am impressed.
The sound is clear and crisp and you can adjust it to suit your taste the additional bass is good I really like it. What comes out of the speakers is unexpected and I won’t need to play at full volume its quite loud.
The features on this unit are great along with the CD player you get DAB and FM radio, and a USB port and Bluetooth all these features for the price is excellent.
The unit is nice and compact which is what I needed for my bedroom. I’m not too fussed about the radio as I use amazon echo for that.
There are a few cons however, I would (as a few other reviewers have mentioned) like the display to be back-lit it is difficult to read and the remote could do with being bit more robust.

Additionally the unit is portable and does take batteries so could be used outside as well or in locations where there is no mains supply. The unit itself is quite light so very easy to move.

Overall I think its a great little unit which for the price is I think exceptional value. Very pleased with this.

This Panasonic system is fantastic and just what you would expect from the brand. Sound quality is excellent, build quality is good. A bit bulky but more than makes up for in powe

My husband was looking for a radio to put in his workspace at home and this just fit the bill! He does use it plugged in mostly so my review is coming from that aspect. I would say that the sound quality and volume are great, everything is crystal clear and I don’t have to turn it up too loud to hear it. It is easy to program stations, the display is really easy to read as well. The CD player works a treat and is easy to access as it is right on top.

It is a Panasonic so you know you are getting a great product, the price is a little bit more than I thought it would be I will admit. I also will say that if you plan to go wireless then be prepared with batteries as it takes a small army. That would be the only negative bit of feedback that I would give it- but as I said before, we use it on the mains power.

It is a decent size boom box and has great sound quality to it, the brand name as well gives you some sense of safety as you know it is a quality brand.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersPortable device purchased to use in church and for meetings and it fulfils that function very well. The sound is powerful enough to fill an average (small-ish) Church without distorting, and the bass is impressive.
Two small gripes: the diminutive remote control has limited functions, and the display is too dark, so that you can’t always tell if you have changed functions, certainly from any distance. The USB input is the biggest bonus as one can write and re-write sound sound files to it without having to burn endless CDs. There’s not much around at this price level-between domestic and commercial- so this was is a great find.

Better than expected for a unit of this size, purchased mainly to play CDs. Very pleased. Only downside is the LED display isn’t bright enough, deducted one star for this but great sound and good bass.

This radio bt and cd has become our new friend in the house it is on all day.The device its nice
easy to use and changing on what you want like Bluetooth to radio or to usb its easy and you
don’t need to be an engineer. The sound its great ,even if its at the maximum the sound its nice
and clear and it is loud.Overall the radio cd its great and we love it.Now i need also to say that
its a bit disappointed that when you say portable this days you still have to think at buying battery
i mean no offence plugged in this is a great device but if you want to be portable this its working with
8x 1.5v battery and it says that you can’t even use rechargeable ones.I think this days if they would
put in that space where the battery fit if they would fit a rechargeable battery would be perfect
,so this are my cons.Otherwise a really nice radio cd.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this item as it is made by Panasonic, and, having bought a Panasonic ghetto blaster in the 80s, which has a cassette, FM radio, and CD player, 40 watts, has served me very well and is still in fully working order, I decided to try this model as it has DAB+ radio and USB port. I wondered whether the output would be loud enough as it is half that of my 80s ghetto blaster, but I was not disappointed. I have not played it at full volume, but it is loud enough for my requirements. Plus the sound quality cannot be beaten. Panasonic ghetto blasters have a depth of sound which I find unrivalled, having several manufacturers` boomboxes. It is a great pleasure listening and one word describes this item – quality.

Now I’m not very good with technology, but I love the range of options this device offers. You can listen to your CDs, connect your phone to it and play music that way, or listen to the radio, with it being compatible DAB & FM. It does take some getting used to and you have to be willing to invest time connecting your phone, but the operating instructions are a great guide, even to my technology challenged mind. It is sleak and compact, which is so much better than larger units, that stock out like a sore thumb in the room, this just fits in perfectly and there is no sacrifice of sound quality. Despite the size, it provides excellent high energy sound, which to my less than musical body, sounds fabulous. It comes with a remote control, battery provided, that means you can listen to you chosen music, with having to move from the comfort of your chair. The remit as compact as the device itself, but no less effecient.

I absolutely love this Panasonic music player!
I have ordered it for my living room as I really like its design and I thought that it will blend nicely with the decor. I really like its slightly retro and classic design, it looks so much better than in the advertised pictures.
Apart from that, the music quality and sound it’s amazing! It is so loud that my body it’s vibrating if I stay close to it and although you can not tell in the video how loud it is you can notice that even when it’s on maximum volume the sound it’s very crisp and clear, and the speakers does not seem to struggle at all, in fact, I can’t remember having a device that had the same sound quality on maximum volume.
I played music via bluetooth, CD and radio and everything worked perfectly. It comes with two different power cables, one has a UK plug and the other one it’s EU.
It also comes with a remote control which is really lightweight and works great. Actually the whole device it’s quite lightweight, you wouldn’t say that it’s so “powerful”.

I am totally impressed by the quality of this device.

I expected a top quality product as this is by Panasonic and it really hasn’t disappointed at all. There is plenty of functionality on offer with bluetooth connectivity, CD player and DAB/FM radio. It also has a USB port to the rear of the unit. It is a portable system with carry handle but requires a power supply to be connected up (which is provided). The system is really easy to use either with the face buttons on the front or the remote control that is included. It is very practically laid out but also a very nice looking system.

In terms of sound I am very happy with the results. It is a 20W speaker so not the loudest on the market but the sound quality is excellent, with top-notch optimisation. Everything sounds well balanced with excellent levels of clarity, a nice wide soundstage and very good levels of bass that is nice and punchy creating a rich, full sound. Bass, mids and trebles are all well pronounced and superbly balanced resulting in a warm and responsive sounding speaker. There are sound booster options including bass and volume booster – I use bass boost for a bit of added oomph.

It’s a brilliant speaker system and, whilst I’ve been using DAB and Bluetooth quite extensively on it (both super stable), it is the CD player that has been most used. In a time when CDs seem to be slowly dying out in favour of non-physical audio formats (streaming and digital downloads) it is nice to see a reputable company like Panasonic still putting out high quality stereo systems like this with CD functionality. I’ve found myself delving back into my CD collection with a new found zest thanks to this brilliant system. An easy 5 stars for me.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersDo you need a DAB stereo? Have some CD’s that need playing? Look no further, just read on…

This is the Panasonic RX-D552 Portable DAB+ FM Radio with CD, USB includes remote control (with AA battery) and Bluetooth 20w Output. Available in black or white, measuring 23.9 x 34.6 x 13cm and weighing 2.5kg (without 8 x C batteries).

Ever considered a nice DAB radio? Well this one is that, with added CD, USB and Bluetooth connectivity.
I’ll start with the DAB Radio which is very impressive, as soon as you turn on it will auto tune to the strongest signals. You can manually select or set 5 favourites.
The CD player function is pretty basic, all the usual functions and this is loaded / unloaded by touching the top lid, then place CD on centre.
You can use USB connection too, which is handy if you have a USB memory device full of audio. Finally you get Bluetooth connectivity so you can connect your device direct to the unit. This is easily done by simply turning on your BT on mobile device, selecting BT option on the DAB unit, then select RX-D552 to pair. This is great for Spotify, Deezer 360 or Audible.

The sound is really good, you have 2 x 8cm full range speaker units with flare-shaped bass reflex ports which deliver a 20w output. To be honest, it sounds a lot louder! If that isn’t enough, you can change the sound to suit your listening pleasure via the Sound Booster button, once for B-Boost to enhance bass / rhythm or press twice for V-Boost to highlight spoken word which is great for podcasts, debates or audio books.
The sound when listening to DAB, FM Radio or CD is fantastic, crisp clear and has a BIG sound to it. But where it really is make or break is the Bluetooth, playing Spotify sounds OK, not great, but Spotify is not the greatest. To get the full sound and to really unleash the beast of this unit, you’ll need a 360 provider like Deezer. Give this a whirl and it’ll blow your mind, as good as and better than most CD recordings. Much like sausages, it’s only as good as what ingredients you put in. Put in low quality audio and it’ll sound awful, but put some serious 360 HD tunes in and feel it. Glorious.

This unit is portable too, it has a top carry handle, but you’ll need 8 x C batteries. There is no charge here, it’s old school mains or batteries. Which is possibly a drawback, as so many devices today are pick up n go, but then it’d add to the size.
One thing that does make me chuckle is the really bland grey / black calculator LCD display. Reminds me of my old Ford Mondeos stereo. Maybe that’s intentionally retro, as some LCD displays tend to look dated quick. This doesn’t need visual gimmicks to look cool, it let’s it’s functionality and sound do the talking. And that works.

Overall I really like this DAB Stereo Unit, OK it may look pretty old school, but it knows how to handle itself without any gimmicks. It delivers with a fantastic BIG deep sound that certainly sounds louder than the 20w output it claims.
If you are looking for DAB with connectivity functions, look no further. This is the unit you are looking for!
    Fully recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic DAB unit with added CD, BT and USB connectivity
