    Excellent monitor for reasonable money
When I was browsing an internet last week I’ve seen an Philips press release about 2 ultra wide monitors. There were unique, as 1st were flat, 2nd 40″. Specs were good, Resolution ok, 120Hz, IPS, lots of connectivity, and the price – from half to even quarter of the price of latest LG’s or Samsung.
Yes, no usable HDR, no local dimming, not QLED or OLED. But damn, this monitor is sick! It’s simply huge! I’ve replaced dual Acers Nitro 1440p 144Hz with this beast and I’m really happy. Did not expected miracles, but it exceeded expectation. In my opinion panel is better than with Nitros. 120Hz works, adaptive sync works, PIP/PBP are actually useable unlike on Acers. Need to test KVM next. I can highly recommend this monitor for the price – excellent value for the money!

Great monitor for work and play
Bought this to be used both as a work-from-home monitor and also for my main PC, hence the KVM functionality was high on the shopping list. I have my PC set up via DP + USB-A, and my work laptop uses USB-C for everything including LAN. Enough USB slots on the monitor to connect mouse, keyboard and webcam, and have a separate cable to plug in anything else.
Picture quality is first rate, and the curve is great at making sure everything looks the same size (no squinting for the corners). Switchover between sources is fine once set up, all that’s needed is to choose input and the KVM switches over as well.
One or two minor niggles stop a 5 star rating… Occasionally gets stuck and refuses to recognise the USB-C input requiring a power off. Coming out of standby power cycles the peripherals which seems a bit odd. Amazon also supplied it without the USB-C cable and with an EU power lead, but after a complaint gave me a 25% discount which did cover the cost of the replacement cables.
    Overall, highly recommended.

Great screen, probably would have got it cheaper if I’d waited for a sale. Good value when on sale, OK value otherwise.

It’s so good to be able to position my windows out in a more natural spread, rather than having two full screen monitors and one with some diagnostics tools open.

Perfect for my Dyspraxic, ADHD brain.

Also great when investigating large timelines.

Note: the Philips utility seems a bit pointless as the fancy zones feature is actually just the Microsoft Powertoys utility, which is official and available for free.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIf you find text blurry when you first set up the monitor, read the manual and try these adjustments
When I first set up the monitor I was disappointed by the quality of text display. Difficult to read and very pixelated. However, after reading the manual and making some setting changes, the display is much sharper to the point that I am very happy with the monitor and find it quite beautiful. I rate the product 4 out of 5 rather than a 5 due to having to fidget about with settings to get a good display, and than also the back covering the hides the cable inputs is flimsy and very difficult to attach (but I eventually got there).
The monitor settings I’m using to make the display look better:
USB Setting > USB-C Setting = High Resolution (the default is High Data Speed)
    Smart Image > SmartUniformity
    Brightness = 100
Color > Color Temperature > Native
    Picture > SmartContrast > On
    AdaptiveSync: On
    Gamma: 2.2
    Pixel Orbiting: On
Also run the display at 60Hz, which is the native frequency versus 100Hz. The manual recommends 60Hz for better clarity.
Within Windows 10/11, go to the Display settings for the wide screen monitor and set System>Display>Scale & Layout>Scale to 150%.
The above settings made me very happy with the monitor, although it probably eats more power now.
Also, a benefit of the VA technology screen is that there is no light bleed when you watch movies in a darken room. Very nice.
I provided a 5 star rating for value because I got the monitor for Black Friday prices (150 off).
Quick Update (16Dec22): I’ve connected an iPad Pro M2 (2022) to the monitor and the screen is gorgeous with superb text clarity. If I could, I would increase the star rating to 4.5 out of 5.

The stand is well built with height adjust and swivel, no rotation which is fine. The panel itself is excellent for a range of different tasks, like coding and design work. It is also good for multimedia with the built in speakers which perform decently enough, certainly better than the laptop driving it. Cannot say for gaming, but the aspect ratio seems unlikely to be ideal.

Great productivity monitor with great connections
This monitor screen is rather impressive providing a great deal of screen space to work with versions windows side by side. It is my first time using an ultra wide moving from a duel screen setup I have to say it does a great job in providing the space in a flexible way as you can put windows side by side or just extend one and get a wider view which is great. Also the hub in this is truly fantastic as I can plug in everything into the monitor and just use one usb-c cable to my laptop to provide everything. It works seamlessly with my Mac, I believe although expensive it is worth it if you do need additional screen space and a usb-c hub

    Great monito
Really impressed with quality and build of this monitor. Nice stand that easily moves around. Screen quality is very good! The only downside I have to say is that the screen is very bright and most preset modes are too bright for working in the dark. I had to dim it to the lowest brightness setting manually and save as my preset. And to be honest I would like it to go even a bit more dimmer than that but that is the lowest setting. It is still quite bright on white background websites in the dark but somewhat got used to it.

Nice to watch movies and YouTube.
I am mainly using this for office and home media. It’s pretty good.

I thought initially that this monitor will increase productivity with splitting screen and stuff but it does not work for me that well. Bit annoying having to manually resize the apps to split them on the screen. For myself I hav4 busted that marketing myth.. other than that it’s really nice and if you love big screen you will enjoy it.

Great monitor let down by Speakers and fussy KVM switch
I bought this for use with 2 laptops and it does the job really well for the most part.
Great picture, Great stand, easy to set up.
The KVM switch is a massive faff though. I was really hoping it would be a one press button to switch inputs, instead, it’s a button press, move up or down several times, press another button to confirm. It’s just needlessly annoying.
The built in speakers though… oh my goodness, they are so unbelievably bad. My phone has better speakers than this monitor. Dull, flat, muffled, pointless speakers. They would have been better off not bothering to add them to monitor – they’re not even “okay” they sound HORRIBLE.

    Ultimate display
Excellent monitor, very happy with this purchase.

I was worried that a curved display might be distorted or otherwise disconcerting, but in fact the gentle curvature is perfectly in harmony with the wide screen form factor, and much better than the double flat screen real-estate of the equivalent of two 27″ monitors.

The USB-C interface acts like a docking station, meaning a single cable provides all USB ports, graphics and power to/from my Surface Laptop. The only disappointment is that the Ethernet won’t also connect, it’s just too much data according to Philips technical support – not a game-changer thankfully.

The built-in camera / microphone is great and perfect for Zoom / Teams, but I won’t support Windows Hello on my Surface which is a shame.

All things considered the two shortcomings are both manageable and the many positives are right up there. After six month this is one happy user.

I’m not buying to play games, but – For me to say is this is a great monitor to use for working from home. USB-C connection great combination charging and picture in one cable for your laptop. And HDMI is an extra bonus connection to your PC or Mac mini. However, small issue with connection usb-c cable (saying: pc not charging?) but it does, just annoying! Overall, 4 stars from me as is great monitor to work.

    Loads of screen!
Outrageous amounts of screen. Ideally, it would have been more curved as the far left and right end up at quite an angle.
I use Fancy Zones (part of Microsoft’s Power Toys) to have 4 docking zones. Works great.
Excellent also for having apps stretched over the middle half whilst still having other apps on each edge.
Personally, I also have other monitors for Slack, Outlook, WhatsApp just to keep them right out the way.
Windows Hello works great but I don’t use the rubbish webcam.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery nice monitor with one minor connectivity limitatio
I use this monitor with a few different MacBooks and it generally speaking “just works”. It looks great, it sounds OK (the sound is good but not great), it’s easy to use, it’s replaced two monitors on my desk with one and I feel like I’ve got more space.

I have 2 minor niggles and one of them might be MacOS related… sometimes the USB-C hub doesn’t seem to work and the Mac doesn’t recognise the USB devices connected to the monitor. Everything else is fine, just the USB devices. Have to unplug and plug in again for them to work. A minor niggle.

The second is that there is no USB-C out from the monitor. On a MacBook Pro with 4x USB-C ports this isn’t an issue as you can just keep on using the 3 free on the MBP. On a MacBook with 1x USB-C port and various USB-C accessories, this is a nuisance. I can’t have my external HDD plugged in at the same time as the monitor without finding a USB-A -> USB-C converter and plugging it into the monitor. Stupid. There’s no excuse for not having at least one USB-C output.

Overall I like it a lot and wouldn’t give it up now I’ve been using it a few weeks.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersWhat a product, for the money it's so worth i
I’ve been using a 34″ Ultrawide for the last 6 years and have loved it, but I’ve been using it in combination with an extra 1080p monitor as I felt often that there wasn’t quite enough real estate.

I’m an app developer who often needs three windows open, a coding window, a reference window, and an emulator and this monitor is so impressive I just wish I’d have done it sooner.

I will say, the panel quality isn’t quite as high as my previous Dell, but after an hour or so, I really can’t tell the difference, I’ve gotten used to it, and for the price, it’s well worth it, especially when you combine it with the fact that you can have a one-cable solution into a compatible device thereby bypassing the need for a 200+ Thunderbolt hub.

Camera is awful compared to a 30 Aukey camera, but it is definitely passable.

I managed to pick this up via Amazon Warehhouse deals to save a further ~100, but even at the full price I wouldn’t hesitate

I have been using a dual monitor setup for work using two old monitors. i purchased this as a replacment for the two and have to say although it has only been a week the product is excellent.

Screen feels sturdy, Plugged into my work laptop and straight away the laptop defaulted to the full resolution(only 60HZ refresh even using display port). i am able to have six windows open at a time. Text is sharp and easy to read.

Thought it would take time to get used to the curve but as i had my two previous monitors slightly angled so it was easy to adjust.

Lastly, the fact that this monitor has height adjustment, swivels and tilts means you can get the perfect viewing position.

Beware of the misleading listing (hopefully changed by the time I write this review), this monitor does not include a USB-C hub but simply USB 3.0 with the older USB connectors.

Otherwise the picture quality is good and has a fantastic contrast ratio. Built in speakers are terrible as it to be expected and to be honest I’d rather monitor manufacturers would just omit them saving cost and space!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersPleased with the monitor, but incorrect UK power cord
I’m very happy with this monitor. The size, picture and colour are all fine for my use, which is office not gaming.
I have down sized to it from a full 4K monitor, which proved just too big to work with, and since I ran the 4K at 125% and can run this 3440×1440 at 100% I haven’t lost must screen height.

My one gripe is that it came with incorrect power cables for the UK. It came with a UK plug/C13/kettle lead, but that is not what the monitor uses. It has a small power pack like laptops, and that requires a three circle ‘clover-leaf-connector. That cable was supplied, but with a northern european 2 pin plug.

Amazon has refunded me the cost of a UK to European converter plug which I will use.

Thankfully the outgoing 4K monitor had the required UK/clover-leaf, so at least I was able to power up the monitor until the converter plug arrives!

Ok, so I’ve had this about a month now, so feel qualified to write a review. I’m a bit of a stickler for monitors and basically, its a bargain. I’m using it for work. Screen is huge, the curve makes a real difference, its bright, sharp and clear, I’ll happily have three or four windows open side by side, all easily readable. This screen has a number of features that are unique. You can’t get, as far as I know, 1440 resolution + 34″ + curved + height adjustable anywhere near this price point right now. The USB hub is a bonus. Its a lovely screen. No, its not a gaming screen, and speakers are rubbish, but does anyone buys a huge screen for the speakers? Seriously considering a second one.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersVery nice display
I recently bought an LG CX OLED tv to use as a computer monitor. It was great, huge in fact and really fantastic image. There was just one major problem with it; it gave me eye strain or DES so I had to stop using it. I’m pleased to say i’m not suffering that issue with this monitor after using it for 8-10 hours a day. After swapping out the OLED TV, I figured the next best thing would be to buy an ultrawide and I’m really happy I managed to pick this one up on offer. The price seems to keep bouncing around but I managed to snag it once it was on offer.

Really beautiful display. I love the gentle curve. I tried an Asus ROG curved display before but it had really bad backlight bleed when watching movies / when the display was dark. But I have none of those problems on this display. During the day time, I have this hooked up via USB-C to a 2019 macbook pro and with just one single USB-C cable, I can connect my ethernet, the webcam, the display itself and it keeps the MBP at 100% charge as well. At night, I have it hooked up to my gaming PC and it’s really great for watching movies, surfing the web, playing games etc.

It’s really cool to be able to have a browser and my terminal window/other apps side by side and not have to switch between them. My macbook display just shows my outlook now, and all my productivity happens on this monitor.

G-SYNC works fine, there’s no tearing in games, no flickering, and the 100Hz is nice. I’ve heard some people complaining about a whining noise from the display but I’m not having this issue. I am however having a slight networking issue in that if I power off the macbook that’s connected via USB-C my network dies completely. I haven’t figured that out now, but so far I just either sleep the macbook or unplug the ethernet cable. Would love to figure that one out.

All that faf about IPS vs TN ? I can’t tell you the difference, and i’ve got 3 monitors, two of which are IPS and this TN monitor. Whatever angle I look at the display, it looks the same to me. Maybe not as bright if I look at it from a really far angle that I’m not ever gonna sit at.

The curve is very nice too. I wasn’t a big fan of curved displays due to geometric distortion, but it’s such a gentle curve it’s not at all noticeable to me on this monitor. The webcam is pretty cool too. I like the fact I can pop it out and pop it back in when not using it and the resolution is nice too although I do feel the popping in / out thing might wear out eventually but time will tell I suppose.

I like the stand too. I was thinking before I bought it about getting a desk arm for it, but honestly I don’t need it. It doesn’t take up that much space and I can raise it, lower it, tilt it .. no problem.

Overall I’m very impressed. If I could fix the network problem i’d say 10/10 but I haven’t marked it down for this, I think i just need to figure out what’s causing this first.

This arrived with a fault which always takes the edge of the experience!

It was sorted quite quickly and it’s a good monitor for gaming. I miss the extra height available on a standard monitor for general monitor work

Final point the webcam does work as windows hello which is good. Less good – the quality as a webcam is pretty poor.

Excellent monitor, shame about the web cam.
As someone who has multiple tabs open in multiple software packages, this monitor has been a game changer for working.

So handy to have the things I am working on all one one screen side by side. To do list stays on the left, visible the whole time.

Really pleased. The only negative is the built in web cam which is poor quality. I stopped using it after a week and got a separate one. It’s a shame a screen of this quality and price did not have a web cam to match.

Everything else is a positive and it’s is highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent monitor for productivity
As a software developer this monitor saves me so many micro stresses every day, it just makes working easier. No more spanning windows over 2 monitors and the extra pixels over a 2 x 24 inch monitors helps a lot. I find I use it like 2 x 27 inch, having just 2 large windows using the Windows-key left/right arrow, to position the windows. That works for me. I use it connected to a lap-top and a desktop. The kvm is a little disappointing as it’s slow and fiddly to change. I have the HP Elitebook connected via the USB3 and to my surprise it drove the monitor at the full 5120 x 1440 without issue. When using the USB-up from my desktop, I had some issues depending on which usb port I used. The screen kept turning off completely, which drove me nuts! I finally realised that the issue was which USB port I had the usb-up cable plugged into on my box. After trying a few different slots, it solved the problem, I don’t think it was anything to do with the screen.
Very happy with it. I don’t play computer games so I can’t comment on that. Recommended!

Golden Review Award: 40 From Our UsersGreat monitor with a few annoying quirks
Well I’ve had this monitor for just over a year now and it feels like I only just got it. I do enjoy using this form factor and it has made me more productive during COVID-19 and has made playing the odd game more fun too.

Let’s get this clear, it’s not a gaming monitor with high refresh rates and all the trapping of those high end superwide gamers. However for the likes of me that play games occasionally for fun it works well. I play games like Borderlands 3 regularly at full screen size and it is fine, even though my Graphics card is just a GTX 2070 super.

For most of the time I have been using this to work, and also a little bit of programming for fun. Initially it feels a bit weird having so much screen and the max button filling the whole thing. I tried the philips software initially but did not like it. I then used DisplayFusion that worked well allowing you to setup virtual screens you can maximise into. Now however I just use Microsoft PowerToys and the FancyZones app. I drag the window and hold the right mouse button to dock into one of the zones. This makes me super flexible on where windows are. One recent thing I found was TaskbarX, this locates the Taskbar icons in the middle of the taskbar, removing the need to constantly swivel your neck to the left to find things.

I have powered my work HP Elite X2 device directly from the USBC adding this as an additional screen to the laptop. My main machine uses DisplayPort which works well and I have in the past run a RaspberryPi directly from the USB ports with no issues. The screen has been reliable, has all the pixels working properly and the pop up camera has both been giving me access to my computer and working double time through Covid. Not a perfect picture but more than adequate for video conferencing.

The only thing that frustrates me about the screen is that it gives the impression you can divide the display into two 2560×1440 screens being fed from different devices. This is not quite the case. PBP mode does split the screens however it scales the contents such that you end up with two 5120×1440 screens scaled down to fit a 2560×1440 letterbox window, meaning you really cannot read the screens well. I’ve not found any way to resolve this despite occasionally having another go. In truth this would not make me give up this monitor at all! I have not for a moment regretted my decision to buy this. It was a good balance of cost and performance and has been invaluable over the last 6 months trapped at home.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersGood quality build, but the panel and missing cable hold it back from a 5-sta
Good quality build, without a doubt. And like most things Philips does, it’s practical and functional. The USB 3.0 hub on the left side with a powered port come in handy to get rid of cable spaghetti. Shame it’s not a fast charging usb port. Otherwise, it’s a great productivity screen. 100Hz also make it slightly easy on the eyes, and you can game on it too. I read how the speakers were good, but they’re not. Really.

My biggest gripe is the slight shimmer in the bottom-right corner that remains for a few minutes after you switch on the device. Quite distracting and I’m always thinking I’ll have to return the panel. An additional gripe is the fact that, despite advertised, mine did not come with a USB 3.0 A-male to B-male cable. I just couldn’t be bothered after setting it up so I attached a USB 2.0 A-to-B I had lying around, since the purpose was to connect keyboard, mouse.

All in all it’s the most affordable and quality 3440×1440 monitor on the market.

    Decent for productivity
Bought from a competing website E****r (which I regret as they offered and I paid for next day delivery and lo and behold it took almost a week before it arrived). That said the monitor is as described. I haven’t noticed any dead pixels etc. I bought for productivity/office work and it works well. I have one usb-c cable going to my laptop and that’s it. The webcam isnt amazing but for MS Teams its fine and better than the one on the laptop. Overall the monitor is pretty good. You do need a modern laptop/PC/graphic card to drive it and I did have issues at first as my dell laptop default brightness was set too high for the monitor (this wasn’t obvious at first I only noticed because certain grey’s looked washed out). It’s possibly not quite as vibrant as my previous monitor (which is IPS) but it’s really close and the blacks are better and for what I’m using it for it’s great. Overall I’d say buy for office/coding productivity but possibly look elsewhere for other uses.

As a non graphics designer, or movie maker, I do the odd photo an odd family movie clip, this monitor has been good for me.
The 34″ curved screen was easy to get use too and the connections are ample.
It has usb C, DisplayPort, and hdmi. It also has a usb B upstream connection and 4 usb A connections, one being a quick charge connection.
Controlling all the settings have to be done via the screens buttons, pity I can’t control via an app on the Mac.
Using the usb C to connect also delivers power to my device at 90w.
If you want to use the network port on the monitor, you should install the driver from the Philips website.
I use the ability to show two devices on the screen, both a PC & Mac.
You can adjust your devices to split the screen, but unless your mouse & keyboard are connected to both devices, either via the kvm or you have a device that can switch between to pc’s then you will need separate accessories.
I find it a good all round monitor, colours are fine, you can change those via the osd controls, which is to me the only down point.
The OSD is easy to use and there is a user control button you can set to what you want.
The speakers are a bit wimpy, but for video conferencing, it is okay.
The only thing missing is a webcam, as I use my laptops with the lid closed.
I use the monitor at 60hz, but it can go to 100hz in the vertical.
Pleased with the monitor overall, can’t fault it so far apart from OSD controls.
    Graphics people might want more.
    Update
The more I use this screen the more I’m impressed, the dual side by side view using my Mx ergo mouse allows me to transfer data between my pc and Mac. The reduction in cables has been great.
I have a T3 (usb c) to MagSafe 2 connector so I can power my older MacBook Pro retina, therefore dispensing with the power supply.
I have a webcam on top connected to one of the usb A sockets and also a backup disk.
If you have a usb c T3 device then a monitor that can power your device is a bonus and I would miss it. Less power bricks needed here now.
    Update:
I have been using this monitor everyday since purchase on usb c MacBook Pro, MacBook Pro retina and a HP laptop.
I can now get a choice on the newer MacBook of 60 or 100Hz refresh rate using the usb c connection.
I use DisplayPort on the other two devices. I have a two to one DisplayPort box, allowing me to switch between the PC and older MacBook.
The only downsides to this monitor are no built in webcam and the Mac not being able to control the sound or some of the other settings and having to use the monitors own controls.

Before this I tried an LG Ultrawide screen that wasn’t curved – that simply wasn’t good enough to work on – neither the screen quality or the lack of curve at this width and whilst it was sold as being wall mountable both the power connector and the connector all stuck out to the extent it couldn’t be wall mounted – LG need to have better connection between design and component speccing.
Back to this Philips screen – it really is excellent, far better than the dual screen setup I used before.
I’m not a gamer so I can’t say anything about that aspect but I do work on it for long hours and it’s improved my ability to deal with large amounts of data in Excel and other tools.
    Well worth the money.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersLovely picture, useful USB-C dock & KVM, poor sound quality
This a lovely monitor with plenty of real estate that you can use with two different computers. In my case, that’s my work laptop and my home desktop. The built-in KVM means I can use both with just one keyboard and mouse, which is brilliant. The monitor position is nicely adjustable – a large range of heights and angles, which is unusual. The built-in USB-C dock is also really useful as I can just plug in my work laptop with one single cable for everything – power, video, network connection, USB printer, etc. Beware that the KVM does switch the ethernet connection as well as the USB connections – I wasn’t expecting that.

I bought this monitor because it had built-in speakers, and I’d hoped they were good like the ones the 32-inch 16:9 Pavilion monitor I had previously borrowed from my work. They are not. They are fundamentally flawed. They have two very strong resonances in their frequency response, at around 150 and 450 Hz. These are right in the middle of frequency range of speech, and the consequence is that they make speech really very unclear and hard to listen to (e.g. on a work Zoom call) – combned with the limited bass response below 100Hz they are booming and tinny at the same time. In the end I was forced to take the headphone output and run it through a separate set of speakers. This is really the main thing that lets this monitor down. It might be a consequence of the downward-firing nature of these speakers, but I am surprised at just how poor they are.

It’s pricy – but it makes me happy. Everything is awesome and I can easily swap between my gaming PC and my Macbook Pro. If you are looking for a monitor that is very immersive, this is i

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersValue for money for Office and IT Professionals
I wanted an ultra-wide monitor to replace two 21″ monitors that started to show variations in brightness after 3.5 years of extensive use. I considered Samsung, LG and DELL 49″ monitors. Bought Samsung LC49HG90DMUXEN 49″ but unfortunately it was not calibrated properly and I could not read the text properly so returned it and I was bit disappointed. Then I considered DELL but unfortunately they will ship from China and it will take 14 days and was over-priced.
Finally I found this brilliant monitor that’s value for money and they keep reducing the price. I bought it for 840 now its 770!! It is great monitor and I strongly recommend it. The Smart Control isn’t perfect but it works for most of the software. I use VSCode and Python Spyder a lot to code but they they dont fit in Smart Control.
The summary is if you are looking to use this office productivity and programming this is a great monitor. I’m not sure if its perfect for gaming or not as I did not test it!!

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersGood, but no UK power cable!
Ordered this for my home office. Love that it’s a big, crisp display that allows me to have 3 or 4 windows open simultaneously without being too small to read.
I’m not a gamer so cannot speak to its use for that, or for photography or video editing, but for office use it’s great.
Helpful that it works as a USB C dock too so just one cable allows me to power my work laptop as well as get picture and audio out.
The stand is decent; solid and not to obtrusive. I might buy a monitor arm just for neatness…
Included are a USB C, DisplayPort, and HDMI cables so no need to buy extra bits.
The one major failing is that the monitor comes with a European power plug, not a UK one!
Fortunately I had a suitable adaptor in the house, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to use the display when it arrived! Not sure if this is a one off or the norm.

Golden Review Award: 33 From Our UsersGreat monitor with a few minor (non screen related) issues.
Initially I payed 1,129 for the Samsung C49RG90 and being horrified with the terrible and ugly fit & finish of the screen corners (bit’s of plastic sticking out) I returned it and got the 300 Samsung 34″ LS34J550WUXEN but the screen was truly awful so I returned that and ordered the Philips 499P9H.

I don’t do much gaming any more so mainly use it for media and productivity.
And I’m not an expert on screens but I can say I’m really happy with this one.
It’s super bright and the whites are super whitey white (the previous 300 monitor had very yellowy off colour whites that wouldn’t calibrate).
So that’s about it for my limited expertise on screen quality. I’m totally happy with it.

    On the con side.

It’s nice that it comes with two speakers but they sound like absolute ass. My 20 Anker bluetooth/mini jack sounds way better so I turned off the monitor speakers and use that instead.

Also, I did see a YouTube review that showed the screw holes in the plastic back were no aligned with the inner metal chassis screw holes but I assumed they would be fixed on my unit. As you can see by the attached picture, they were not. I guess a power drill could solve that by just widening the holes in the plastic but it’s pretty shocking that a massive company like Philips can let that one get by.
So right now the monitor is just hanging on the stand by the two forks that slide in before it is supposed to be screwed in place.

I haven’t tested the web cam yet, reviews say it’s rubbish but I won’t be using it much.

Speaking of fit and finish, the rest of the monitor is beautiful. Stand is great and solid. But the box it came in needs a redesign.
As you can see from the picture I attached, they put the picture of the monitor on the side of the box implying the bottom is the top. I didn’t read the large warning to open it from the other side as one just assumes you open any box from the top. If it needs to be opened from the other side then they should print the picture the other way around (or package it the other way round inside).

Despite those minor issues though it’s a great monitor and 200 cheaper than the Samsung or Dell equivalent.

    @jack d

The 4K or 5k monikers are not standards. UHD or ultra hd is. Home entertainment adopted the 3840×2160 where as cinemas use wider resolution or 4096×2160. Which is where the name 4K first came from the number of horizontal pixels. Therefore this monitor is 5k but not UHD

    Thanks

Really pleased. I can comfortably line up four programs/web pages, which is why I bought it. Easy to assemble, and connect. Great in-built microphone for skype/online calls.

For hardcore gamers the screen resolution isn’t as vibrant as other options.
