There are basic features you want from any baby monitor and this device from Philips excels in video and audio quality plus the connectivity is very solid with no freezes or dropouts. As you would expect from such a well known brand the build quality is very good. On top of the basic features, you can use the monitor as a walkie-talkie and let the little one hear your voice without needing to go to the room. It will also play a selection of lullabies to help send them off or back to sleep.

The second consideration for me personally is security. I don’t want a device that sends video and sound to the internet and back to an app. The Avent camera and monitor are uniquely paired (already in the box) so the signals can’t be intercepted or viewed offline from cloud storage. It’s not the cheapest product around but you get what you pay for here.

This is just plug and play as No setup is required, just turn on the power of the camera and monitor to connect right away. The camera setup is amazing and the quality is impressive, the desktop standing monitor has a large viewing screen giving you a continuous monitoring of your kid.

It can monitor at night, synchronize video and sound, and choose to play music remotely and you can have two ways means of communication which means you can have it inform of Two-way walkie-talkie, although the camera has to be on standby power source but the you need to ensure that monitor is well charged to be able to use it on battery

A really great monitor. This is super simple to set up, has great battery life and superb range that works clearly from anywhere in the house.

This is one very well and thought out design for a baby monitor. It produces high definition quality images and decent sound too. Being Phillips as you would expect the overall finish and production quality is very high.
Sound quality is clear and well enough loud to get the job done proper . Connectivity is working fine with app good range, and it has not dropped even once and my home is quite complex with extensions, basements and an upstairs conversion and it has not lost connection once.
Bottom line is that, I see this piece of kit really worth having – when you’re away from your baby you want a good reliable monitor and this has more features than I’ve mentioned here; featuring quality sound, lullabies and talk back feature, this really allows full coverage of the whole house. I would not be without it now. Good quality product. Highly recommended.

    Quality, responsive Monito

Very pleased with the performance of this monitor. I’ve bought a stand that clips the baby cam onto the cot and it’s improved the viewing angle in the cot so I can perfectly see my nephew sleeping.
The range is good enough to reach out side of my home so I can hang a load of washing out whilst keeping an eye on baby.

This baby monitor set works very well. It’s easy to set up and doesn’t connect to wifi, which is the main reason we wanted to order it. The connection is quite good, and we can watch the video from anywhere in our medium-sized house. This is especially useful to use when travelling as we dont need to connect it to a random wifi. The night vision is good, which is what we use most. It has 2 way audio, and we can speak into the monitor for the baby to hear, but it never helps settle our kiddo. The monitor’s battery life could be better, it doesn’t make it till the morning without plugging it in, on the normal mode. It has VOX and ECO modes which are better for the battery life, it turns on the screen only when there is sound. We find this very useful. It would have been nice if it showed the temperature and humidity in the room too. Overall this is a very well made product, which works perfectly. I would definitely recommend it.

Been using this a while now and it’s really useful. The video quality is pretty good, the night vision could be better though. The only issue is that the camera does need to be plugged in to the mains, so you will need a plug socket near to where you want to put the camera.

A great rechargeable monitor that works really well. I like the speaker on the baby end as it is clear and non robotic, this makes it nice for baby and will not scare the little one.

The camera quality is not the greatest but do not get distracted by that, it is clear enough to be able to see whats going on and anything more is not needed.

Very easy to set up with a very long battery life. A fantastic monitor… look no further.

This baby monitor was easy to set up and use. Picture quality is superb and although it is a little more expensive than other monitors available, I would still recommend at the current price of just under 130 — after all, what price peace of mind?

The Philips digital video baby monitor is very good. High-definition camera, 2.7-inch color screen display does not take up the mobile phone and does not require an additional display. The child’s situation can be monitored at any time, and the voice function can directly appease the child. It also has night vision function, which makes it easier to observe children at night. Very satisfied, if you want a good product, choose Philips.

Easy to connect, perfect sound quality, nice LED, great colours and good quality vision. Able to pick up even smallest noises, brilliant night vision and real time voice as well so you can talk to your baby from the other corner of your house. Lullaby (5 different ones) helps to calm baby down, beautiful melodies which makes even me very sleepy and calm. Device has an outstanding quality, study, nicely design and it is very simple in use. Gives me a great comfort and feeling of secure therefore absolutely worth its money. Would recommend

This monitor has some great features; room temperature checks and alarms, the device can be used wirelessly throughout the house, it has great functionality and a clear screen day and night. If you are in the garden or not in the same room as the monitor, you can use your phone to check on the baby, which is very convenient. No internet connection is required, you can use the app, but it is more convenient to use the device, you can pan or tilt the camera.
Other than that, it’s a great monito

Really reassuring. It is quick to set up and works straight away. It also quickly tells us if any movement is detected. I especially like being able to speak to the baby from another room. It means if for example I’m in the bathroom, I can let them know I’m coming to them as soon as I get out of the bathroom so they have that bit of reassurance too. It works well and clearly from any room in the house.

This baby monitor requires no setup, truly plug and play. It comes with two power adaptors with MicroUSB plugs.

First impression is this is a very well-made high quality product.

The monitor itself is rechargeable. Battery last very long especially in eco mode which only turn on when sound is detected. The video resolution is grainy but it does the job of seeing what your baby is doing.

You may set the sensitivity of sound (baby crying) detection, so it is not triggered by every bit of murmur.

You may play lullabies from the monitor to the camera, there are a few tunes built-in.

Tried putting the camera on the corner room upstairs with the monitor in the other corner room downstairs, connects straightaway, streaming smoothly without issues.

Being a Philips Avent product, I would be happy to pay a bit more for the branding. But this camera is expensive even for the brand. For much less, you could get a bigger monitor with temperature detecting on the camera amongst other functions. Therefore, this is not five stars from me I am afraid.

    Simple and effective

I don’t think I ever got anything from Philips that was low quality or badly designed. This baby monitor is another example of a fine product released by a reliable brand.

The Avent system is packed in a nice box, with everything thoughtfully placed inside. You get the camera, the monitoring unit and two power cables with UK adapters.
I don’t necessarily like the attached quick start guide. It’s that picture style one with no text, expecting you to figure out what’s on the pictures. A short text about the features would take the same amount of space, even in a few languages. But it’s simple enough to not bother much.
The camera needs to be constantly plugged in. I don’t suppose it’s a big issue. Otherwise you’d get different battery usage between the monitor and the camera, resulting in having to wait for one of them to finish charging, while the other one is already good to go.
The monitor is rechargeable and has decent battery life. You can also charge and use it at the same time. It has a belt clip for when you’re on the move. The screen is decent size and offers a good quality image in both day and night. The sound quality is excellent.
You have 4 modes you can use. The video mode is all on continuously. The audio mode transmits the sound constantly – decent for older kids and energy efficient. The VOX mode reacts to the sound made nearby the camera and switches the screen and sound on. It goes off after 20 seconds of inactivity. Additionally you can set sensitivity of sound alerts – very good. The last mode is called ECO and I honestly have no clue what the difference is between that and the VOX mode. The description for both is identical apart from the fact the ECO light is onIf it’s using less energy, what’s the point in having the VOX mode then?
Apart from these modes, you can adjust the sound volume and the brightness of the screen. You can also talk to the monitor and the camera will act as a speaker. There is a bit of a thump sound when you press the button though. The voice quality is ok but somehow not as good as the transmission from the camera to the monitor.
The final feature is the lullabies. It’s pretty cool, you have a selection of 5 popular lullaby songs and they all sound very decent. You can either play each for 15 mins or you can enable repeat mode where it goes through all of the songs. There’s a nice menu appearing on the screen for selection.
One more feature one of the reviewers mentioned is camera zoomingI’d like to know where I switch it on and how do I use it, as there is no mention of it anywhere. Perhaps they got a better model.
The great thing of course is that you don’t need Wifi for this monitor to work. It connects directly to the camera. The reception is very good for me, but obviously this will differ depending on the property. The connection was always almost instant, although the manual mentioned up to 10 seconds.
The camera has a stand and can lean forward and back on a ball bearing. It can also be installed on the wall. I wish it had a clip to attach to the cot as well, although this puts the camera very close to the baby and increases the risk of the cable tangling around them.

This is a very good and very well made product. Both the camera and the monitor look very modern and are high quality. All the features are useful (apart from ECO mode perhaps). However the price is a bit high. 150 currently makes it almost twice as expensive as competition, which seems to have all the features of the Avent and sometimes a bit more (larger screen, alarms, temperature sensor etc.). The only difference I guess is reliability. Here you get a product from a world wide known brand that stands for quality. Other brands may be cheaper and have add-ons, but the main functionality may be affected, like range, picture and sound quality, or sound detection in VOX mode. There’s no way for me to verify that though. What’s for sure is that the Philips Avent is a great product and the price includes guarantee of reliability.

Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reliable and safe, good audio and video, lullabies, there are cheaper alternatives though

Really nice design both the camera and monitor. they’re easy to use.they already comes paired and charged so you should be ready to go. The manual provides clear and easy to follow instructions.

Plug in the camera, this needs to stay plugged in at all times, the monitor can be charged, the charge lasts 4/5 hours. (Even more so with power saving mode on.)

When you turn the monitor on, you will straight away see what the camera sees. You can zoom in or move the camera around to get a better look of your surroundings. This is nice and smooth and makes hardly any noise.

The night vision is good, it could be a little clearer but it’s been ok for me as I can still see my baby clearly during the dark/night. It’s great during the day it’s crisp clear!

many added extras like – two way talk back audio, zoom in and out, long range, night vision and best of all it is secure so no one can hack into what you can see.

It’s a great monitor when you factor everything into it and include the price. We have voted this 5*.

    Great video monito

This is a very useful gadget. Easy set up. Only took twenty minutes or so of actual out-the-box messing about. The camera unit can be fixed in place to keep the bed/baby in shot. Good, clear image with great night vision mode! The lullabies are a nice idea but haven’t really worked first us however the use your voice and be talk to them has been surprisingly effective. Glad we trialled this video baby monitor.

With a baby on the way, I appreciate getting this baby monitor.
A Philips product, the quality is top-notch. No headache of setup, just switch it on and it connects. Both the devices sync smoothly and easily.
The built-in rhymes are a pleasant surprise. Two-way walkie-talkie, voice back and crystal clear screen are spot-on. I loved the feature in which I can talk back and the baby will be able to hear my voice.
The range covers my entire house. While I was testing it, I got full reception wherever I place it in the house.
The battery lasts almost 10 hours, a whole night which is a plus.
The only drawback was the selected lullaby keeps playing.
    I recommend it.

No setup required bar the ability to switch it on. Once it’s up and running, the sound and video are of really high quality. The two way walkie talkie thing means you can start to say soothing things as soon as the first round of grizzling starts without having to leave your chair. So, another 10 minutes when you don’t have to move. The inbuilt lullabies are a bit annoying but maybe that’s just the bairn this was getting tested out on. I did find that the battery life wasn’t great (7-8) hours but as it’s generally plugged into the mains it’s not worth knocking a point off for. A good, quality item.

The Philips Advent baby monitor has come on a lot of years since I was a baby, now I can see.

No instructions came with the monitor, but fairly easy to set up

I charged both units overnight, then one is plugged in my bedroom, the other in the lounge.

I have no small children now, but I have two dogs, and one is 16+ the other 4years old.

My eldest one a Staffie is hobbling a lot now, and because both dogs sleep in the living room, I wanted to keep my eye on them both and where they are at night.

I like to hear my older dogs breathing at night, or rather snorting as Staffies do.

Because we sleep downstairs, I do like my security, all my home outside is covered in security lights and the dogs can walk around my building if any intruders.

The monitor is very good at picking up anyone in the living room, and I can see everything day or night.

As I am disabled and cannot move very quick, this monitor alerts me to sounds in the living room, so if anyone breaks into my home, I will know before the culprits reach my bedroom which is locked, so can ring the police if necessary.

So basically as well as intended as a baby monitor, there are some extra ideas in which I wanted this monitor for.

Charge up overnight or the company state 10 hours.

Keep the video with you, the other unit wherever you wish. Can be dipped up or down to see clearly.

Made very well and I have not seen any cut outs of power, nor hazy unclear pictures.

If the screen needs more light or maybe darker this can be done.

Can be silent if necessary, or a good volume on the unit.

Very clear images, not the clearest as more expensive models, but clearly you would see the baby, or in my case my dogs and whether I am broken into.

The range really good, can be used if in the garden

An excellent monitor and one I will gladly recommend. A great comfort to any new Mum and Dad.

    Thank you to the seller

I hope my review helps you

Vision and images very clear 5⭐️ Perfect for me.

Great and easy to use baby monitor!

Im using this on our 7 months old baby girl whos sleeping upstairs whilst we are downstairs on the tv.

Its easy to setup and just need to turn the monitor on and it will alert us sound and any movement the camera captures.

The camera is really clear day and night with the night vision.

Battery life is great and dont have to change the monitor battery often as we dont leave the baby alone too long

The quality of the product is great and it doesnt feel cheap like many.

Great product and will last along time.

Fantastic baby monitor by a trusted brand, Philips. The Digital Video Baby Monitor features a 2.7-inch colour screen, video camera without the need for additional apps to download. The crystal clear video screen and DECT voice playback are faultless.

The product is easy to set up, plug the two items into a mains and turn on. The device found each other immediately. The network connection from the camera to the monitor is private and secure.

I can leave the toddler to nap upstairs whilst working from home downstairs. The connection range is excellent and has full bars of reception.

Additional features include inbuilt music lullabies, I wished it played the full set as it seems to repeat the selected song only. You can talk back to the baby to soothe. There’s the cordless feature with 10 hours battery life and eco function for low power consumption.

Packaging: Well packaged, with four parts in plastic bags and cardboard.

Contents: x2 mains plugs, monitor, camera

Build Quality: As expected from a Philips Avent, the product is well built and robust

Features: Private, secure & adaptive FHSS connection, 2.7″ colour screen, ECO mode, 300m Range, Cordless Operating time up to 10 hours, Talkback, inbuilt Lullabies, DECT crystal clear sound quality.

Set-Up: Easy, just plug and turn on

Performance: Excellent ticks all the boxes

    Down Sides: None

    Value: 155.46 – Yes, it’s worth it

Summary: Packed with all the features you need for a baby monitor, if you have the funds to splurge will highly recommend it.

What an excellent baby monitor! Perfect to monitor naps and nighttime sleep. Ideal if you don’t want to have to get out of bed and check on them after every little sound.

It’s just so easy to operate. Plug in the camera, set it up in a place of good vision to the cot and then switch on the monitor. They pair in a second, immediately and automatically.

The camera quality is very good and clear both in the daytime and nighttime. There’s barely any difference in visibility. I like that it has built in lullabies but it could have done with white noise too. There’s various features to choose from.

The range is good, my toddler can be napping upstairs whilst I’m cooking in the kitchen downstairs. There’s also talkback for reassuring them.

I think this is great quality and so much easier than cheaper cameras that work with apps. You can have this on you whilst being able to use your phone. I definitely recommend it!

Excellent night vision, no fuss use, clear picture
