It’s quite good does come out very cold and does cool you down only negative about it is it comes out of one corner but other than that it’s pretty good!

It’s cheap it’s small but it makes a difference on those hot nights.

Shame the price shot up or I’d grab another one for my daughters room

Couldn’t have survived the heatwave without it. It’s a little noisy, but you get used to it. It’s a small price to pay for cooling down a room. My dog loved it also, he’s the main reason we bought this air conditioning unit was to keep him cool. Plus we benefited from it too of course.

Used this princess 12000 btu air conditioner in the recent heat waves in the uk. Have it on my 12ft boat. It functions well brought the heat down 10’c. I did hope it would cool the entire boat nicely but it struggled with the intense heat and we had to partition off the boat half way to get it to do this. In all so long as it’s not over 34’c I think it is good at fulfilling its cv. Would recommend as it blows really well and fan is good.

Overall, this is pretty good, and made life bearable during the various hot spells (both for working from home, and simply existing…). However, it is very loud. Sitting about 1.5m from it with noise cancelling headphones on was fine though.
Sleep mode isn’t much quieter than normal, but for me on balance, a comfortable temperature is far better than a silent environment.
The included window kit is reasonable (better than nothing, but a better solution should be sought), but glad it was included.
Not a fault exactly, but the ‘swing/oscillating’ function seemed to have very reduced range compared to expected. Don’t know if this was by design or a fault, but for Mr it wasn’t the most important feature, so acceptable.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersBought mine a year ago for 229, was looking at purchasing another, yesterday was 279 and today 316, I would definitely not pay that sort of money for it. 229 was a good price, 316 too much

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWell, it works. Cools down small bedroom in no time on the max setting. But larger sitting room with joined kitchen takes time to cool. Easy to set up and connect to the app. Comes with all attachments needed.
First thing i didn’t like, that hose attachment on the back, to let the hot air out, doesn’t fix properly so it is slightly blowing hot air through the sides.

Second, sleep mode does basicly nothing. Just disables fan speed and keeps it to the minimum, but it doesn’t make it quiet. Even on the lowest setting unit is very loud, no chance to sleep with it on. And the screen does not switch off even with sleep mode, so in the dark room it is annoying.

I bought this mainly because of hot nights, as our baby struggles to sleep when it is so hot. But this unit wakes him up as well, so no use out of it. Will try to return.
By the way, the price when i bought it was 349, which was not too bad for this air con. But now it is 499! Way too expensive

    Air conditioner with some cons.

Nice unit that is helping me survive the 40 heat in London today. Noisy but I think any portable A/C unit will be and I don’t care as it’s taken my sitting room temperature from 38 to 28. Can still hear the TV over it though. Nicer looking than most units too. I put off buying one for a long time using the evaporative air coolers instead but this is sooooo much better.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersSome of the reviews on here are the usual… People who don’t understand how to use the thing or are nitpicking

So.. Is it loud? When the refrigeration kicks in it’s pretty loud yes

Cools great we had ours upstairs during the heatwave today and a fan downstairs the house was cold! We live in a South facing 2 up 2 down cottage and usually it’s ROASTING

You need a window kit. You can’t just shove the house out the window it won’t work you need to use the one supplied or get the universal one with the zip you don’t want warm air coming in.

Totally impressed was a good price and does the job. I’m sure it’s basic compared to others but as an emergency purchase it was much better than expected

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersBought this 9000btu AC yesterday. It came with the window seal kit, with fabric that includes a zipper opening for the exhaust hose, and sticky velcro to seal the fabric around the window opening. It was very easy to set up and connect to my smart phone. The digital display shows the target temp, not the actual temp., but on the phone app it does show both the target temp and the actual temp. I have it placed in my sitting room which is 20 metres square, it cooled it down with extreme ease, went down from 26 to 22 degrees within an hour approx. I opened the room door to try to cool the kitchen a bit, I think it can cope.
Last year I bought a Dyson fan for more than 500, which did not help during the heat wave as it only creates an air current but has no cooling effect, I find this AC much better than Dyson with the added advantage of a lower price.
It is noisy, similar to a fan, but I do not care as long as it keeps us cool, we’ll need it only a for few days a year after all.

Cool, who cares about the noise

Quite a noisy thing, there’s not a chance you can leave this thing on at night while you’re sleeping, even in sleep mode.

The unit does pump out nice cold air at a fast rate, but feel that it’s inadequate at bringing down the temperature of the room at a rate you would think is acceptable even with the exhaust correctly installed; though think this is the downside of portable AC’s rather than this machine

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our Usershe room we use this in, is approx 4m x 5m with high ceilings. we also don’t have the correct window for the attachment so i cant seal the room properly, BUT.. this thing works wonders. Don’t get me wrong its not amazing in high heat (35C-36C+) but it makes the room cool enough to sleep in summer. I only brought this half way through summer and my only regret was i didn’t buy it earlier. the noise isn’t that bad after a while as you get used to it and now we’ve hit winter i’ve packed it away and i actually miss the noise, felt like it helped me sleep. made me feel refreshed in summer.

only DISLIKES i can think of is.
-It’s quite heavy so lifting it can be an issue.
-you have to have a large tube hanging out the window.
-its difficult to place it as the tube hole is on the back, you cant put it against a wall. it sticks out kinda to far for my liking.
    -It’s a bit of a eye sore.
    -Noise might be an issue.

    LIKES
    – cools the room quite rapid, room is 4m x 5M.
    – moveable on wheels.
    – has a remote.
    – filters are easy to clean
    – low energy cost (700W)

All round i really like this product and would recommend if you hate the hot weather in summer and like me struggle to sleep. big thumbs up!

It does the job, it is quite loud, and it doesn’t blow out directly towards you, it blows out to the right which is quite strange I have to point it almost to the wall to feel the air in my direction which really bugs me because I have to turn it every time I use it, but for the money and a god send in the heat its okay, it would be perfect for a static caravan, thats what I would say is its ideal use!

I have wanted an air conditioner for so long and I finally took the plunge! After several days of comparisons, reading reviews and the usual deliberating that I always do. I went with this one, it had many positive reviews and the main complaint was noise!
In a nutshell, it’s actually very good and zero complaints, the noise is as expected, I personally think it’s okay, yes its noisy but no more than my large floor standing industrial type fan, the type that sits close to floor and has metal mesh case, it’s got a smaller footprint and it actually cools the air, no more getting hit in the face with a warm wave of air!! Air is fired out the front but directed to the left side not straight ahead which I found strange, one reviewer here made fins to help send breeze forward instead of to the left, I think thats a good idea but where I have mine placed it’s not necessary.
Having finally got one I discovered the pipe at the back of the air conditioner is to pump the warm air gathered out of the room, I didn’t know that, although it’s obvious really, (I expected liquid or something, shows you how much I know about them). so it’s very important to use an air conditioner in a sealed room, no open windows. It will still pump out cold air but the heat removed is actually rather warm and your room’s temperature will not change too much.
Controls are easy to use, it cools my room down nicely and I will have it for Years to come.
So my advice is to bite the bullet and invest in an air conditioner, I’m happy I finally did and this one is probably as good as any at this price point. I was tempted to get a more expensive one but I doubt there will be much if any improvement.
I’ve had it a few months now, moved it round the house and it’s all good I noticed prices go up in heatwaves as demand rises, I was going to buy another but it had gone up by 80!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a real aircon with compressor inside. Note one of those evaporative coolers being sold as aircons (which in UK are a waste of time. It’s too humid here for evaporative coolers to do anything). The headline is that this aircon works well at cooling my room. At the time I got this one though it was the cheapest available on Amazon uk. There are some niggles about it, compared to my other unit make me give this only 4 stars. The cool air is blown out at a weird angle – if you face it directly to you, the air will blow to your left-hand side. My other aircon has some vertical fins you can use to adjust the direction of air, but this one doesn’t. It’s very loud – I’m quite a heavy sleeper and I’d say it’s still a bit loud for me to sleep easily. The remote doesn’t have a display on it, meaning you can’t see what changes you’re making to the settings – this means you don’t know what speed you’re setting, or whether you’re setting cool, fan or dehumidify mode without getting up to look at the unit. The unit doesn’t tell you what the current temperature is, meaning it’s a bit of trial and error to choose a comfortable temperature set-point. In aircon mode, I feel like it really dries out the air – more so than my other unit – to the point that my eyes sting if it’s on for too long. I found that hanging a wet towel up in the airstream helped, so I’ve ordered a humidifier to counter this. So there are these niggles, but if you’re in the market for the cheapest possible air conditioner, and this one is the cheapest you can find, then I’d recommend it. If you want something a bit nicer to be around though, my other one was half-price end of line (so not available any more), but if it’s representative of what 300-400 gets you on an aircon, I can also see the benefit of paying a bit more for some quality of life features.

Purchased for the latest heatwave, seems well made but as other reviewers have stated it is quite loud.

Seems to take the temperature down around 6 degrees from what it would be normally.

Our main bedroom is well within the size limits but is south west facing so by the evenings even with blinds and windows shut can reach 30C (same as outside)

Using the unit constantly for around 2 hours from 5pm the temp dropped to around 24.5C.

As an experiment I ran this morning when outside was 23C the bedroom started at 24.5C and after 2 hours was 20.9C this is with the unit set at 16C.

Makes a difference but am not blown away.

After 3 days of using the unit its seeming to sometimes switch to fan mode no cool, turning it off and back on again is resolving this issue at the moment but hope there isn’t a fault.

Slighting worrying shudder when turning on and off too perhaps another fault?

A few of the things reviewers on here are saying are correct, but a lot of it isn’t, in my experience.

The air does come out at an odd angle, but just rotate the machine to the direction you need. The hose is a bit short if you have conventional windows but I did manage to make it work. Yes, it probably doesn’t get your room down to the kinds of temperatures a built-in wall unit or more expensive portable unit can achieve.

However, I can tell you that I was suffering so badly in an upstairs maisonette during this heatwave that I almost packed my bags. This machine has completely changed the game for me and made life bearable. It probably drops the ambient temp by about 5-10 degrees within an hour or two and I don’t really pay attention to the 16 degrees setting on the device. It can make a huge difference. Putting my hand against the fan the air is objectively cold, so not sure why people were saying it was just blowing out room temp air.

As for the noise, mine is quite loud but it’s an air conditioner. If you’ve ever slept on a flight then you can sleep with this on. I just had the best 8 hours of sleep in over a week with this thing whirring away next to me. I probably wouldn’t have it on while I am doing a work call but I can do just about everything else, including watching TV.

Golden Review Award: 58 From Our UsersI should start by saying I have bought this for my shed that is now being used as an office.

Originally I bought one of those cooking fans with the water and ice packs – they do absolutely nothing might as well just buy a fan.

Unfortunately with a shed a fan literally blows around warm air and even having the door open just ends up circulating warm fresh air.

So I’ve opted for an air conditioning unit!

    Review:
    Pros
    1. Price – it’s under 300 and at the time of buying Amazon offered 5 interest free instalments with next day delivery.
    2. Size – it’s small and compact and actually takes up less space than many of those cooling fans
    3. It works!I was skeptical I could instantly feel the coolness.
    4. Multifunctional – can be used as a fan, as aid con, or as a dehumidifier
    5. Comes with a remote
    6. Comes with a window adapter kit (although useless for many who have windows that open outwards as it’s for windows you push up)

    Cons
    1. It’s loud(ish)for daytime use it’s absolutely fine and it’s what you’d expect for a fan and air con – I really wish it had a night mode or a slower fan speed.
It states 65db which is the level of people talking and having a conversation – but less noisier than a busy road. (So if you want to use it at night you’d need to be a deep sleeper and be able to sleep through the sound level of people having a good old natter in your room)
    2. I lived in japan for 8 years – on normal air con the dehumidifier goes quiet as it’s just filtering the air of moistureyet this continues to use the fan and makes the same amount of noise.
    3. If you have a window that doesn’t push up then the supplied window kit is useless.

All in all it’s a decent unit that was under 300. It certainly does cool. (For those complaining it doesn’t go below 16 – normally you have it set to a few degrees below the actual temperature and you’d feel the coolnessthere’s absolute no need to go below 16 degrees – this is an air con unit NOT a refrigerator)
This is great for daytime use although might be noisy for some.

I would NOT recommend this if you want to use it whilst sleeping.

(Why Amazon is asking to rate the sleep mode I have no ideait doesn’t have a sleep mode)

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThis product is an amazing cooler. It is great for cooling my server room at certain times of day. However, it is important to note that the timer function does not work on loop, once it reaches the time it turns it on/off and forgets the timer programming. If you want it to come on at certain times of the day and off at others like me, I purchased a broadlink rm4c mini, which allowed me to set it up to send the ir signal from the remote to turn it on/off at certain times of day. It is also important to know that the unit can be quite noisy, so it noise is a big factor there may be other units, but I couldn’t find any others that were quiter. Despite this, it does the job well and is GREAT value for money compared to many other units on Amazon.

Golden Review Award: 38 From Our UsersThis produces a good air flow of 320 Cu Meters (11300 Cu ft) per hour of cool air which is 11 degrees C below the incoming air temperature, so if the room is 25 deg C, then the output will be 14 deg C. the airflow is directed predominately to the left & center. I presume this is to direct the flow around the room to help with an even distribution. The noise level I measured at 60 db at 1 meter, which is a little below that specified (65 db) It is similar to our dishwasher running to give a comparison. People have mentioned that the hose is not long enough at 1.5 m. the answer to this is to extend it with 150 mm ducting hose which is the same diameter as the supplied hose and is easy to attach to the existing hose just by pushing one inside the other and tying round with string, no complicated adapters or connectors needed. This is available from a national tool store which sound a bit like train station, and is priced around six pound for three meters, longer lengths also available. When taking room temperature readings, make sure the thermometer is away from walls and surfaces which will influence the readings, preferably near the center of the room where a truer reading is more likely. Walls hold the heat and take a long time to cool down, I found a three to four degree difference between a wall thermometer and a temperature probe located in the center of the room. Running cost to me (my tariff is 16 p per kilowatt hour) works out at about 12 p per hour (780 watts) running continuously, or less if the thermostat kicks in, 10 hours 1.20, not bad for the amount it will get used in the UK. I am happy to pay that to remain comfortable during the hot weather.

Update, I tried setting the timer for the first time in just over a year since purchased, the numbers set ok and the temperature but when allotted time arrived it did not switch on. tried again same thing and the yellow timer light was not staying on, only when setting up was the light illuminated. There is no mention in my inst book about any further procedure, however thinking about it it seems that the inputted info is not being stored, so tried a few things and low and behold if you hold the timer button down for a couple of seconds after setting the digits, then the yellow light stays on and the timer works as it should do. Later instructions may have corrected text of course, I hope this helps anyone who has had problems setting the timer up.
