Not built it yet,impressive model,first look,detailed parts,up to Revells std,one big problem,with it being a big model you will need a big space to put it,highly reccomend it if you want an SR 71

When I was thirteen years old in 1967, I built a Revell Lockheed YF-12A 1:72 scale model. The YF-12A was the grandparent of the Lockheed SR-71 (Strategic Reconnaissance Aircraft number 71). This SR-71 model is a lot more advanced than the old Lockheed YF-12A scale model. The only problem that I have discovered with the SR-71 is the landing gear assembly requires a lot of patience. I do wish the model would have cameras and the Hughes Electronics coherent pulse Doppler radar which the YF-12A had within a removable nose cone. I am using Vallejo acrylic paints since Revell acrylic or enamel paints are relatively too expensive.
What a great model, perfect scale, excellent instructions, great decals, I like the larger scale models to work with. Awesome plane. Cant wait to finish it.

Ich habe schon einige Modelle gebaut und auch dieses Modell ist klasse und die Gre des Modelles ist klasse kann ich nur weiterempfehlen und der Bauplan ist fantastisch gemacht so wie ich es gewohnt bin klasse
At this price point this is an excellent kit. Beautiful and fine scribed detail. Have glued the spine and support ribs and the upper fuselage fits perfect with no filing etc. Have dry fit the engine intakes, exhaust and nacelle parts. A bit fidgety but the fit is fine. I’m a good but not pro modeler. This kit is highly recommended.
Very great product. The helpful thing to know is that you need to paint the whole thing—even the very tiny pieces. So, if you or your child has a last-minute project to do, I would not recommend this product since it takes a long time to make—otherwise, excellent product. The painting turned out fantastic.
Muy buena maqueta
Una buena apuesta de Revell, mucho plstico en una caja enorme, con un boxart estupendo. Buena calidad de transparentes y calcas. Bien detallada.
Un excelente relevo a la maqueta de Testors.

This is a great price for a HUGE plastic kit. The model is a quite accurate representation of the SR-71 towards the end of its career (1980s-90s).
Pros:
– It is very easy to build if you take time and test fit before assembly.
– Builds up quickly into a very impressive kit (pics I took after just a week’s work)
– Very good fitting parts. Not much filler required except around the engine intake mouth
– Good detail in the wheelwells and cockpit. The instrument panel decals are excellent.
– Decals are as good quality as any aftermarket items. Excellent. Four options with hi and low-vis stencils are included.
– Display stand included is sturdy and more than adequate to support the model. It needs no nose weight.
Cons:
– some mistakes in the instructions with mis-numbered parts for the air intakes and elevons. You can figure it out but need to take care.
– the landing gear assembly is nice but very flimsy. The stand is really the only way to display this huge model.
– no pilot figures are included if you want to display this in flight. They will need to be sourced from elsewhere.
Verdict: Probably the best jet kit Revell has produced since the 1/32 Hawker Hunter. Surface details are nice and understated, shapes are accurate enough, detail is good for the scale and the assembly is not challenging for an experienced modeller, and should be well within the capability of an average skill level
if you take your time. It knocks spots off the only other available kit (the forty-year-old (!) Italeri/Testors kit) At this price, it should be on everyone’s Christmas list!
Habe den Bausatz zu einem, fr den Anfang, sehr guten Preis von 72 inkl. Versand bekommen. Der erste Eindruck ist gut, schne Panellines und Strukturen, wobei ich mir in diesem Mastab und Gre von fast 70 cm die Darstellung der Nieten gewnscht htte. Nichts desto trotz ein schner Bausatz. Die 2 J-58 Triebwerke sehen top aus. Passform kann ich noch nicht beurteilen da noch nicht gebaut. Wenn das Modell gebaut wird folgen weitere Updates.
Update: 18.12.21
Nachdem die Nieten nachgestochen wurden und das Cockpit gebaut wurde kamen die Triebwerknozzles dran. Hier ist die Passung unter aller Wrde… Spachteln und schleifen der bergroen Sinkstellen und dann noch Spalten bei den bergngen. Das htte ich bei einem nagelneuen 2021 entwickelten Bausatz nicht erwartet.
