Easiest and best install
So I have had this installed for almost a month and I have been waiting to find an issue. However, I have found none. It works perfectly as if it was factory installed. Straight Plug and play for old unit. As long as you follow the instructions, connection is easy. The CarPlay starts up on its own every time and quickly too. As I said, I can’t fault it. I fitted an aftermarket camera which also worked 1st time. So far, no issues at all. Great product at a good price. Many thanks!

Great item easy to fit nice clear instructions from seller how to set up
I bought this for my 13 plate A180. Plugged it into the glove box slot, and had it up and running within 5 minutes. Linked it to my iPhone and had Apple CarPlay running in no time.
I downloaded an app called Radio Player for listening to DAB stations and so far it has run smoothly. I can’t really fault this at all. Works with the maps on my iPhone seamlessly. Well worth the money.
Works Perfectly - If a little weird to setup!
What can I say, and amazing product breathed a new lease of life into an old car.
Had some issues getting the bluetooth to pair at first but then realised you need to pair the car to the Box, but using the phone dialog not the media dialog.
(Originally 5* but have had to now downgrade due to a glitch that I had read about but had not happened to me until recently.
Every now and then it does not connect to Android auto this is simply fixed by removing and reinserting the unit which luckily I can do from the driver seat as it is located driver side of the glove box.)
This tech has bought my 9 year old car up to date. The best thing is that you can fit it and use it within minutes without removing any of the dash. I mainly wanted it to update the useless Becker Sat Nav system which I never used so relied on my phone. Now I can use Google maps or Waze etc with my phone in my pocket. I have also had a little play round and have managed to still use the other Merc functions, such as the Radio and even the Phone, this obviously removes sound from the Sat Nav function though this is fine if you do not need the turn by turn prompts and only need a visual.
The only negatives is that if you use the phone function from Android Auto people have said it sounds a bit echoey but bringing the volume down helps. The other is that the auto day/dark function does not work on the maps but I’m not sure if this is a Carplay issue rather than the unit.
On the whole the advantages outweigh some minor Niggles hence 5*
I have not tested all the features such as reversing camera or Mirroring as I don’t use them
Just works….and is incredibly easy to setup
I plugged this unit in? Connected my phone via Bluetooth, and we were up and running. Only issue I had was getting the sound to work, but when I read the manual properly, I just had to connect this new unit to the cars Bluetooth (I was connecting my phone by mistake). Now both my IPhone and the car connect to the new box and it works perfectly. I will be getting another one for my other car, although that will be a more complicated install as It doesn’t have the slot for the Mercedes Satnav.
If you have the slot, and the correct NTG, just buy this and be impressed.
Works perfec
Great product, been working perfectly for a month now. Long may it continue
No Internet when connected wireless
Setting up wireless on android is painful. You have to connect to the WiFi that doesn’t support Internet so then ure phone is offline I may have missed something I don’t know but if I connect wireless then I have no Internet so its pointless. That being said I always plug my phone into usb anyway to charge it so I just run the USB from my glove box and connect that way it works straight away upon start up and is very good
Fantastic produc
So my review is going to be very honest and truthful. This product is exactly what you are looking for. You simply put the module in the navigation slot and it works. Simple. The only issue is u have to connect it to Bluetooth using the module Bluetooth. Which can be tricky. Now if you are looking for a easy solution literally plug and play this is the product. Now just be aware that the screen in your car is older so what you see can be pixelated. Just bare that in mind. Hence I can’t give it a bad review it’s not to product it’s the screen, if you have a bit of money to spare and thinking of something else which is touchscreen and HD u will need to take apart the dash and upgrade it.
All works nicely, but took a while to get there.
Happy to report that this does exactly what it says, which is a tremendous improvement on the existing unit and the frankly awful Becker unit. Works nicely for my iPhone but I haven’t tried Android. There are a few things to note as the instructions aren’t great..
1. The cluster of wires that is pictured with the description isn’t actually required unless you’re connecting an after-market reversing camera.
2. Although Mercedes car stereos normally operate without ignition, it *must* be switched on (or engine running) to set-up and use the Road Top unit.
3. ‘WLan’ in the instructions translates to ‘Wi-Fi’ on your phone. It can take some time for the phone to find the wifi signal from the unit.
4. Bluetooth link can also take some time to pair. On the stereo, this is done through the ‘Audio’ menu (select BT device), and Bluetooth needs to be activated on both devices. This must be done in order to get announcements from phone sat nav apps, as well as to access any music you may have on your phone.
The devices should automatically find each other every time you switch the stereo on, though again this can sometimes take a few seconds each time.
Most buttons on steering wheel retain their functionality, though address finding with the click wheel can be tedious. However, the ‘Comand’ button on steering wheel can be used to activate Siri and bypass all of that faffing around.
I’m very happy with the results but it’s an expensive way to upgrade your stereo/satnav when all it is is just a lightweight slot-in box. You’ll have to judge in the long-run if it’s value for money or not.
Roadplay Android auto
Purchased this for my Mercedes w204 c220 estate fitted with Becker cradle.
Have wired a reverse camera to it which is main reason for buying it, that transforms the vehicle again. Had to wire a relay into reverse wire as voltage drops. Well pleased with item at the moment.
After couple months video stopped working.
Returned item and got a replacement.
Item returned again. Waiting for refund
I bought this so that I could have Carplay in my 2012 SLK. It fits into the Becker Sat Nav slot in the glove compartment and as a result of installing this, I can now take my pick from Apple maps, Google maps or Waze for navigation rather than the out of date and expensive to update Becker unit.
On successful installation, everything can be operated from the centre console joystick and steering wheel controls, so really a great piece of kit overall.
The installation instructions that came with it weren’t that great, but I somehow managed to figure it all out relatively quickly. The upgrade is definitely worth it!
Works well
A little bit tricky to set up for me, don’t be like me trying to get it working without following the instructions , works well, good for the price and arrived on time
Product arrived on time and took less than 10 minutes to install. Remember er to select device from Bluetooth devices to get sound. Overall great device and well worth money to upgrade basic MB audio
