Very good fit, very comfortable trail shoes, light and with good traction, the last ones I bought (speedcross 3) last me 10 years, obviously not of continuous use. Theirs a better option in Salomon full waterproof , but with these You can go wrong.

They are quite lightweight and don’t provide a great deal if support but then if you are looking for just trail running and not hill walking they will be fine.

Think I’ve bought my husband a pair of these every year for the last 10. Usually buy I store but these were a much better price & are genuine (there are a lot of copies of these on ebay!)

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersPreviously wore ASICS trail shoes but didn’t have confidence with foot placement on anything but dry conditions, not very grippy.

However after changing to Salomon speedcross I am much more confident.

Dry, wet, mud, gravel, even slippery chalk is easier to run on and I feel safer underfoot.

True to fit, size 9 in everything including these. Not tight or loose, just right.

Treads are deep, wide and stick in the mud, no air hockey feet and baby steps

Price is good, do I care they’re the previous year’s model? No, I can run faster in crap conditions and that’s good enough for me

Fantastic shoe. Third time I have bought this shoe from Salomon. Versatile on mud, trail, gravel and road. Cleans easily. Waterproof and comfortable.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m a size 9 but order these in a size 10 the same as my previous pair and they fit perfectly.

    Not cheap but very good

I’ve brought all sorts of expensive trail shoes none compare to these .

I’ve been wearing these for 16 weeks (15-20k per week off-road all weathers) grip and support good. Stylish looks and sturdy construction so far. I went up a half size to usual and fit was slightly tight on 1 foot. I will run these through the winter and see how long it takes for them to fall apart. The previous trainers I used lasted about 8 months, these are more expensive so I’m hoping these beat that.

I use this shoe for work as I work in a school and do atleast 10 miles a day of walking,It is the most comfortable shoe and with its studs underneath its perfect for walking across fields where there is lots of mud.

Always get the best running shoes you can afford. This is the second pair of these I’ve had. Comfortable, sturdy, waterproof.

I have wide feet and these are fine. You won’t have any injury problems on any terrain. I like the quicklace, but others might not.

Make sure you get the waterproof ones. There’s another similar Salomon shoe that will get your feet we

I needed a 12 and am often an 11 on trainers. Lacing system is excellent. Great to run in great for general use too. Super grippy. Only downside they wear quickly on the sole if used for lots of walking and running on the road. They aren’t designed for this so not a criticism, just be aware. They are so lovely to run on that I can’t help myself and use them for road running too.

I’ve just bought a new pair of these as my last one’s were falling apart. I wear these all the time, especially for dog walking in the woods. They’re perfect and i wouldn’t consider any other tbh. The only thing is you need to order a pair at least half a size up. I’m a size 10, but the 10 in these is too snug on the toes, so i get a 10.5 and they fit spot on.

On my 4th pair in a row. Daily runner and weekend walk warrior. The family are all fans of these shoes and come highly recommended!

Trekked all over NZ (the SO).
Used as ghyllie scrambling (walking/climbing up rivers) shoes, certainly when they are older.
    Trail running as designed
    Hiking/scrambling regularly

Light weight, the non gore-tex versions are very quick drying. Pretty much my go to shoe for any activity that requires one! They last about 12 months of heavy use, longer if you use for more everyday activities. During the pandemic, they were just for running, lasted for nearly 3 years with that pair.

This is my 4th pair of Speedcross shoes so you can tell I really like them!

Salomon sizing is a bit small so I always get a size larger that usual (I’m a UK size 9 so I get a UK size 10) and it’s still a snug but very comfortable fit.

The only issue I have is that they all fall apart in the same way – the fabric that bends along the toe joint gives out 1st and then the glue on the sole unit fails and they fall off. I guess Salomon don’t fix the design because it helps sell more shoes.

That said, I don’t look after them at all and they last a year or so, so as long as you know that then get a pair and enjoy excellent traction in the mud!

I use these for trail running 2/3 times a week on bridleways, across fields. Hilly stuff, nothing mountainous. They suffer from the usual Salomon sizing issues – too small. So order a size up and you’ll be fine. These are great shoes. The lace up system is great, simple to use and tough. The material is hardwearing and drains moisture well. The tread is good for my kind of trail running but would probably be okay for more rocky runs than what I’m doing. What I really like about these is they are good on tarmac too, you wouldn’t want to run miles on the road in these but a km is fine.

I wanted to buy these for a long time but first the price was too high for me so I had to wait for a price reduction.
The way these looks is amazing and the materials feels premium but there are some negative aspects that I want to tell you about.
These are not waterproof as described.
The fit is a bit strange as they are long and narrow, but in time you start to get used with them.
The arch support again is nice but it takes times to get used with and initially can cause blisters.
On mud and soft ground the grip is great but on asphalt is not so great and also they wear quickly.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was a regular trail runner until an accident a couple of years ago which stopped me running for a while. I’d bought a pair of trail shoes from another well known sports brand without reading the specs and used them a couple of times before my accident. After that, I cleaned them and put them away.

However, I decided recently to give the trail running a go again.

Within 3 weeks of using my other trail shoes, I found out that they were for a pronator and not a supinator like me. This caused a few problems with my right soleus which threatened my pretty short return to trail running. I rarely got over 2k – 3k before the pain hit me. Lesson learned – research your product.

I’ve always been a fan of Salomon footwear (I own walking boots, walking shoes and general use shoes) so thought I’d give the Speedcross range a go after some serious digging and reading specs. Amazon had the Speedcross 4 in the colour I wanted for 66 delivered so I duly ordered them and waited for them to come in with bated breath.

They arrived as predicted by Amazon and I decided the following day to give them a run out in the fields. If these didn’t solve the problem, nothing would…

I ran 7k non stop (albeit slower than most readers would) without so much as a twinge in my right calf. I was waiting for the inevitable tightness followed by pain but it never happened. Happy boy… I’ve since completed another 5k trail run and am as happy again. In fact I’m looking forward to going out running in the fields again.

The Speedcross 4 is insanely light (I’m sure that there are people out there who will identify even lighter trail footwear) and my initial opinion on build quality is superb.

The shoes are supportive in the right places and I certainly don’t feel restricted as some have reported. Yes, they are snug around the sides, but there’s room in the toe box for me to flex my toes so I don’t consider this an issue. I’m usually a 9 but bought a size 10 based on the excellent reviews I’ve been reading. The lacing system is quick and simple which is good for if the laces need tightening mid way through a run. The sole is grippy on gravel and dirt, but I’ve yet to try that out in the wet. I’d imagine that the soft compound wouldn’t last long on tarmac roads and paths. Not a drama for me as I’m planning my mileage on foot and bridle paths. The sole seems to soak up quite a bit of the impact which again, is a delight.

I’m a supinator and have found that these shoes offer support where its needed without sacrificing weight or quality.

All in all I’m really impressed. Salomon quality delivered with the reliability of Amazon, what more could a nearly 50 year old returnee to trail running want?

So ordered these on the recommendation of a friend. I ordered a half size bigger as suggested which was good as had I not they would definitely be too small. They are very comfortable and I’ve been out to walk the dog in them and they have plenty of grip on rough ground.. HOWEVER they are as waterproof as a sponge! Probably a slight exaggeration but if I held my foot above a puddle these things would be sucking the water in and storing it for a desert crossing… in all seriousness though they have 0 water resistance. That said, as a dry weather/ summer shoe, they would be excellent.

    They are good

…but the Speedcross 3’s had better grip despite the slightly smaller lugs.

I raced Snowdon with these in September and, whilst they were great for uphill, they’re not so great on the way down. They didn’t give me a huge amount of confidence coming down the mountain and they either slipped on wet surfaces or my feet gave way several times. Even on wet grass, I must have slipped 3 or 4 times which forced me to slow down and consider my placement a lot more that I’d have liked.

They’re not all bad though. I ran over 600km in these trainers and they held up really well. The soles are worn (as you’d expect) and I had to buy some orthotics to support my overpronation – the insole that comes with the trainer are really thin and the support just isn’t there. Just something to think about.

Anywho, whilst I probably won’t buy this model again, they did me great for the year!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI was after a pair of running shoes that would help me during this years tough mudder and was recommended Solomon speedcross as a must by the nice chaps on the forum. I went for this pair as I liked the look and the orange pair was quite a bit cheaper as I didn’t care for the look as they were expected to get filthy anyway.

Turns out I really liked the look of the orange anyways, they fitted perfectly, I’m a 9 and they fitted me perfectly. I proceded to wear them in on a few 6k runs and a park run which was half concrete and half mud. They are a pleasure to run in, I even shaved 1 minute off my PB while doing a park run. Although not ideal for concrete (which they are not designed for) they work perfectly off road.

During tough mudder they remained comfortable and never did I have to tighten or readjust them. The easy tie laces kept banging around so I tucked the ends behind the tongue however the right one kept coming loose. Those who know tough mudder will know what your shoes go through, I give some credit for completing the course and obstacles to these trainers. They kept their grip and were comfortable when caked in mud or submerged in water, they didn’t hold water very long and dried out quickly.

Afterwards a quick blast from the hose and a wash in a washing machine and even though there is a slight loss of colour at the end of one of the shoes they look like new (Pictured). One minor thing and that after the race the laces won’t easily pull through anymore and seem to get stuck.

No regrets buying these, excellent purchase and will wear them again next year.
