It was a present for my wife. She loves the Salomon shoes. It arrived fast!

I read the reviews (sometimes conflicting) about size. I can take a 6.5 in some brands, but usually need a 7. I tried the non-GTX version (purchased by mistake and returned) and those were slightly too roomy without socks (just tights). These GTX ones feel very slightly smaller, but still fit, and I suspect will give because they are well padded. If you want to wear thick socks from the start, maybe go a half size up. But they are padded and warm enough to get away with thin socks anyway.

In all other respects they seem great. Comfortable from the start, light but robust, and they allow a good heel to toe gait with push-off from the grippy sole coming slightly up the toe. Perfect for hiking in a warm country (which is what I wanted them for) or the UK (unless you’re going into boggy terrain or through deeper water!).

I wear a 9.5 across the board and normally in Salomon wear a size 9. In these I ordered a 9.5 and could have used a 10 as they are a bit tight. These are so lightweight and cushy, the soles are so grippy, especially on wet surfaces and ice and are great on mixed terrain, not so much for pavement as they would wear out fast. They are waterproof and the pull tight laces are convenient.

They feel a bit ‘bouncy’ at first but they are great for my lower back problems. I can walk in them for hours and neither my lower back or my old foot injury bothers me. I have at least 10 pair of shoes for walking and treking. These are by far the BEST!

You can tell that this is a well-made shoe, but I wear in 11 in women’s and went with the nine in men’s, it just didn’t seem to have that snug fit that I need for hiking in the woods.

Leggere, avvolgono il piede alla perfezione e lo rendono stabile nei terreni scoscesi, suola antiscivolo perfetta anche sui sassi bagnati.
Consigliatissime per chi ama trail running

I run 8-10 Km, 7 days/week. These runners keep your feet warm in Canadian winters. I love the laces with the slip tie gadget. Great traction…but on ice you will still need metal cleats. I gave 4 stars because I think that more support/cushion in the foot bed is needed.

This is the second pair of Salomon speedcross I have purchased. They are very comfortable and great for trails and hill walking too. Still to test out on a sogggy wet day but they look like they will stand the test, well made. I always go up half a size in trail shoes so the 5-5 fit me perfec

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhat I love most about these is their traction. We like to hike mountains that are sometimes steep, wet and strenuous. I’m so impressed that these do not cause me to skid on the downhill or catch my toes on rocks like my keeens did.
I love the arch support, comfort, grip and how light they are. I’m hoping they are able to withstand the beating I give them on my walk/trail jog almost daily.
When they’ve been covered in mud they hose off nicely without getting my feet wet.
I just ordered a pair of mid hikers because the traction on these wowed me.
The only thing I wasn’t too sure I liked was the lace system, but now I’ve gotten used to it I like it. I’m always concerned the laces will not last. So far they have let me down.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe picture does not do it justice. I got black, it fits true to 7.5 but if you use “thick socks” go up a half size. Otherwise i have a normal foot, but need to wear them to stretch a tiny bit. A half size more is too big for me. if you have a high arch, edema water swelling, or wide foot, go up a full size. I wore the Salomon Trail Runner shoe all day, no hurt feet and it is great gripper sole, Gortex, thin laces, cushioned height heal that is like walking on air. So comfortable. The sole is aggressive so it is anti-slip too. Like a gripper sole. Definitely not clunky. With the added sole heal height it is nice for the legs and back comfort too. I need a shoe horn to slide into the runner but no big deal. The tongue has a pull up tab but the heel needs a shoe horn, works better. Seniors need to sit down and use a shoe horn but they would love these too. They are not slip on kind of runner.
Now I recommend nurses, doctors, workers and retail persons, hikers, snow walkers and anyone who wants an aggressive raised slight heel and cushion sole for long hours of comfort to try these. I highly recommend them as inside support and soft ground connection with the Orthopedic heal height. You won’t even notice it. One super great runner or mountain trail hiker. I think myself that i made a good decision to buy them and with no regrets. I can wear them to town with jeans and no winter boots. Bonus. Or go for a hike in the snow and no wet feet. I had them on 9 hours and no sore feet. i had a runner like this years back and it cost me over $300.00 then.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersIf I could I would buy every pair they had and give them to everyone who needed them or wanted them bc they are the absolute bee’s knees! Want to wear them walking around in the snow? Absolutely. Want to keep your feet from getting wet in the rain? Done. Want to have shoes that are fashionable while being comfortable and breathe well? They got your back. They run wide so keep that in mind but fit as expected for me. Someone mentioned to me that the shoes laces looked like they would break soon but let me tell you, that’s a load of poo. I had my previous Solomon’s for 5 years and not once did those laces loosen up or break. The only reason I got new ones was bc the tread is meant for trail running and I used them on cement which ran down the tread. I love them!
