    Excellent speed and copying time
Was able to copy my 4tb standard drive onto this in just one hour. If your still using old drives get an SSD you wont regret it. There small very lightweight and portable and extremely fast.

I've got LOADS of Smasung SSDs.
Added these as starting Talos II took f.o..r.e…v….e………..r. With this we are u and confused in seconds – i THINK that’s a win?

Anyway, Samsung SSD’s love em’ Expensive but they just work every time for me (and fortunately I’ve never opened the box to find a pack of Pokemon cards or some such). Long may this continue as I have a LOT of computers at home…. who said GEEK!!!!!

    Solid Drive
I’ve brought 5 of these of various storage size over the years. I have a 1TB drive installed into both my PS3s. Another in my PC, along side a 4TB, with another 4TB for my PS5. As with any SSD/HDD you never get the full stated storage, with 931GB on a 1TB drive and 3.63GB on a 4TB drive. Simple SATA connections for easy install in consoles or PC.

    An absolutely fantastic SSD
The best SSD I’ve ever used! It works a treat for Microsoft Flight Simulator because updates for that game are big and clunky. I think it’s fair to say that this SSD will keep me going for a long time yet. The only reason it didn’t work at first was just me being an idiot and forgetting to connect up the SATA power.

Brought a 12 year old desktop up to standard
I bought this to replace the hard drive in a 12 year old desktop I had been using for work. In the end it proved a but beyond my ability to install it but our local computer shop did a great job. The machine now boots up in moments rather than needing 5 minutes. Of course Windows 10 will get dropped at some time but it will extend the life until that happens.

    Pleasingly uneventful
Bought to replace existing 4Tb spinning hard drives in my music replay systems. Installation as expected; unplug old drive, plug in new. Copy data to new drive. Haven’t performed any speed tests, but the SSDs certainly seem to respond better than the old spinners. SSDs are definitely quieter, just as expected.

So … pleasingly uneventful. No drama, no issues, everything worked exactly as expected.

I’ve bought Samsung hard disks, USBs and smaller SSDs in the past, and will continue to use their products in future.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSo much storage
I really only wanted 4TB but when I thought about future proofing for my needs, having only recently purchased 2TB and filled that up, it made sense to go big or go home.
At the time I bought this on Amazon due to the offer from Samsung for 50 cash back, which I got approved. That made this deal more attractive, I was going to buy the same device from eBay until the offer came live.
Performance wise my caddy struggles when plugged in due to size of the drive but once it’s warmed up there is no stopping it.
Samsung products are robust, I have mostly Samsung SSDs as backup or Windows drives.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our Users3 TB and not above, not suitable for beginners Windows 10
Please be warned that you really need some computer experience to get anything above 2TB as a boot system. I wanted this for my operating system and I spent about five to ten hours getting this to work. Firstly you need a bios that is capable of UEFI if you do not have this, then you will not get this drive to work. Well you can get it to work, but only for storage and not for Windows 10 as an example. If your computer is an old system and can only handle MBR which is the older file system then it will only register two terabytes, which is why you need UEFI and format the drive as GPT. If you are scratching your head wondering what I am talking about, then anything higher than a 2 TB unless you are using for storage will not be for you. I had to use Rufus and a copy of Windows on a USB stick. I shall buy another one in the future, I cannot comment on games etc etc as I do not play them, but for storage it is more than suitable.

    Samsung ssd. Reaction to change
Copied hard drive to ssd. Then swayed memory RAM. Then reset the bios. The result went from 27 minutes bootup time with hard drive to what the video shows. About half a minute. Going to a reputable make and speed of ssd like this one will make a very big difference to the overall speed of your computer. Do not buy cheap unbranded ssd drives.

It's an excellent and affordable SSD
    Pros:
-Significantly faster and less likely to corrupt than an HDD
-Silent, will go well with a silent PC
-Lightweight, won’t make your case heavy like an HDD might
    -quick and easy setup

    Cons:
-probably will be much cheaper in the next few years
-If data is corrupted, it’s hard to get back, I’ve heard some have bad quality control
-Not the actual size it advertises, for example my 2TB is actually 1.81TB

    Overall highly recommended!

Great drive. It has made my old laptop boot up in about 20 seconds instead of a few minutes. It’s worth spending a little more on this Samsung one because the software makes the copying process much easier. I would recommend it and would buy another if I needed it.

Extremely low write speed of 80Mb/s - be Aware
Have tested severel times after installing it on a Thinkpad sata 3 laptop with new Windows 10 Pro, Low 80Mb/s write speed.
Have returned it back, no good as it was specified over 540MB/s, that’s a huge difference

Will update this if the drive fails, as it’s only been a week but initial impression is that it’s as fast as stated (ran windows WINSAT test) and it went straight in with no problems. You will need to initialise the disk in drive management in windows before you can use it – simple click process. Overall, decent value for money and my video processing is so much cleaner and faster working off this drive than the old external USB 3 one.

I bought this to replace the 1tb HD in a used PS4 Pro, and it works very well. Load times are around half I reckon, so job well done. Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe easiest speed upgrade you can do.
I’d already used a 128gb one of these to upgrade my desktop PC. These are so much faster than a conventional hard disk – you will really notice a faster boot-up time. In addition, if you are short of memory the page file will be quicker too. People typically use the SSD as the windows disk and use the original, larger hard-drive for all the data. This is fairly simple to do (samsung have migration software) but make sure you have space to mount the disk and an available sata socket on your motherbord ans a sata cable. Loads of help online if you are not confident. HELPFUL HINT: I thought I needed to replace my smaller SSD with this larger one because itunes insists that my partner’s iphone and ipad are backed up to the C-drive, hence my 128gb disk was not big enough. However, you can get around this – google “symbolic link” and “iphone backup” to find out how to fool itunes into using another disk for backups. This saved me having to use the larger SSD, which I returned. Sorry Samsung, but I have bought two of these disks so far, and it probably won’t be long until I want another one.

At the price this is one of the best internal SSDs available. I use these as system drives in several laptops where they perform perfectly and fast. They more or less reach the top speed which Sata III is capable of so unless you can fir a PCI drive they’re about as fast as you can get. I’ve had no problem with failures – none at all. Several reviewer have commented on low continuous write speeds for very large transfers and this is a fact however it isn’t a limitation for most applications unless you have a need to frequently write large (>1GB say) files which most people don’t. For everyday use on a laptop they speed up performance over the usual slow spinning HDD by around a factor of 4, a very noticeable improvement. Most file transfers are much smaller in any case and read speeds are never impacted.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersEasy to install and super fas
I used a tooless installation kit to put this into my PC. Took about 15 minutes to install and boot the PC up. You need to install the magician software for driver and software that manages the way that the drive is filled up. You can’t just use this out of the box as mechanical hard drive because the solid state components can get corrupted. You also need to disable disc defragmentation on this item as well so you don’t get the same issue. The software records the temperature onboard the drive as well as the write speed. I have a data drive installed inside my PC 2tb. I moved over 700 gb from that drive in the the Samsung Drive and rather than being hours to copy over data it too seconds. The speed shows about 560 gbps. That is faster than my internal drive and external drives I have. The price now is nearly on par with mechanical drives ie moving part drives hence 8 plucked up the courage to jump into SSD tech. Samsung is also a name you rely upon for quality. The drive is 2tb but holds about 1.81tb. This is not one of those drives that continuously writes and overwrites files ie a faked drive. This is the real McCoy. Beam me up scotty. The drive is small compared to normal 3.5 and 2.5 drives. The SATA connection within the PC a Dell 870has two electrical connections I can’t remember the size but I think there was 14 and a 19 cable and connectors. You need to use the cable numbered 19 to power the drive. The Dell 870 sneakily hides that cable. Great product. Fast and easy to install.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersVery easy to install and faster start up
I installed this SSD drive on my 7 year old tower pc. As there weren’t any spare cables, I disconnected the dvd connectors and used them to connect the SSD for cloning. Having downloaded Samsungs Magician software, the cloning of my old HDD to the SSD was extremely easy. I then disconnected my HDD and fitted the connectors onto the SSD and reconnected the DVD connectors to the DVD.

My pc used to take 5 minutes to start up. Now it’s 30 seconds. So not instantaneous but a vast improvement. The same is true for loading programs, much quicker.

For 59, this was a very worthwhile investment, much cheaper than buying a new pc. It also avoided ditching the existing old software and being forced to buy subscriptions for the latest Microsoft etc software which come with new pcs.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersPerfect replacement or upgrade to old iMac HD
I bought this SSD as a replacement/upgrade to our old ‘Late 2012’ 27″ iMac, after it started to cough and splutter a bit. I used it with a cradle to make is easier to secure it safely within the chassis and there are loads out there that perform this job well. (If you’re interested, this is the one I used: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07QVX8TWJ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details). This new drive has greatly improved the performance and usability of the iMac. Before the upgrade I was thinking it was barely useable, particularly comparing it to my newish work machine, the drive has breathed new life in to the iMac. Tested drive performance is about 3x faster with the new SSD but this performance is most noticeable in the overall usability – booting, opening and closing apps etc.
At 70 you can’t really go wrong, great value for money, and having used external Samsung SSDs before, I’ve never experienced any hardware issues at all. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersSimple, Trusted SSD
Being a SATA SSD rather than a high-performance NVMe means that out and out performance is limited by the form factor.

I purchased this drive for it’s local storage capacity, and for this it does well, and performance isn’t too shabby – a benchmark when new returned 55,664 read IOPS and 34,912 write IOPS and a respectable sequential read throughput – though writes can sometimes be less impressive, sometimes performing 485MB/s and other times less than half that.

However, after months of use the drive is still working perfectly, and the performance benchmarks are still performing well.

This may be pricey compared to other brands, but you are paying for a trusted brand, and the excellent Samsung Magician software, for a drive that offers good reliability and reasonable performance.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThere's life in the old dog yet.
At 13 years old, my studio PC was starting to show its age. The C drive hard disk was intermittently crashing, and the machine was getting really slow. This new Samsung SSD has given it a new lease of life, akin to putting your granny on steroids. On switching the PC on it almost springs to life in a quarter of the time the it did before, and so far everything has been running smoother and faster, with no blue screen of death (again, so far).
The instruction booklet that came with it seemed to be in pretty much every other language then English, but I managed to get it installed, and the contents of the old drive copied over pretty easily via the Samsung Magician software which can be downloaded from their site (after a small amount of detective work).
I do have to say that it seems a little mean that they did not include a chassis that the SSD can sit in and be securely tethered inside the computer, at the moment the drive is sitting precariously on bundle of unused SATA cables. Other than that, I am pretty well satisfied.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThe best SSD for the average use
I have bought a few of these drives now. Honestly, even if you don’t rate Samsung very highly as I don’t, you can’t fault them with their SSD drives. They really know what they’re doing with their SSD drives. Always top quality, easy to install, good performance and good price.

The price of the 8TB drive fluctuates so if you don’t need a drive urgently and the price is high, you might want to wait and the price may well lower in time.

On the 8TB model, the usable space after formatting is 7.27TB.

I have put all my data on these drives including lots of Steam games. The speed isn’t lightning fast but it’s definitely faster and smoother than using HDD. So if you can afford it, replace every hard drive in your computer with these drives and don’t have any hard drives at all. That’s what I did and my PC is noticeably faster and quieter.

These are QLC drives which are not as fast as more expensive drives but they are large capacity for a good price so you can’t complain. If you want 8TB and you don’t want to pay a fortune, don’t even bother looking at the competition. There isn’t any. Samsung is the King of good price, large capacity SSDs.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersExcellent SSD drive
I bought one of these drives about six weeks ago to replace a platter based disk on an old desktop PC which was running very slowly. Long term Windows users will recognize that Microsoft based systems fill with clutter and start to grind to a halt after a time. Rather than backing everything up, reformatting and reinstalling everything from scratch I decided to switch to a SSD drive to see what improvement that made.

The drive didn’t arrive with fixing screws but that didn’t matter as I was using a 2.5 to 3.5 inch bracket which came with the screws. Fitting the drive was straightforward and I used the Samsung Data Migration Tool downloaded from their web site to copy the O/S and data to the new drive. Once that had completed and the BIOS set to boot from the SSD drive everything worked Ok but much faster than before, even though the drive still had years of Windows clutter.

Swapping the drive was far easier than reloading everything and I was so pleased with the results I bought a second Samsung 870 QVD 1Tb Sata drive, for another desktop, which is the one Amazon asked me to review. Both drives arrived on time, were easy to fit and the Data Migration Tool was simple to use.

Obviously I can’t comment on the long term reliability of these drives but as things stand, if I needed another SSD for a different PC, I’d have no hesitation ordering yet another of these drives.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersGreat product but disappointed about the price increase
I installed two 1Tb drives on two laptops. A 12 years old Vaio with 512 GB HDD and a 3 years old Lenovo Ideapad 320 i7 with 1TB HDD. The main reason for the replacement was that both laptops were extremely slow, for example a restart of Lenovo could take up to 5 minutes and for the Vaio anything up to 10 minutes. Starting an app such as Firefox took forever and installation of OS upgrades took in excesses of few hours and frequently failed to complete.
After replacing their hard disks with this SSD the restart now takes less than 30 seconds for both laptops and the update of OS takes minutes.
To copy the existing disks to new ones I purchased a USB 3.0 to SATA Adaptor (ELUTENG 50cm) and downloaded Macrium Reflect. The process of mirroring HDD to SDD for Lenovo using the USB 3.0 took less than 2 hours and for the Vaio over a USB 2.0 took 6 hours.
I replaced the disks and both laptops have been in use for the past couple of weeks. The performance has been great, and the Vaio laptop acts as fast as a new one despite being 12 years old.
A word of warning I purchased the disks each for 72.97 but they are now 84.50 and increase of 11.57 over two weeks.

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersYou must know what are you doing.
I am assuming if you are reading this, you are thinking in purchasing this SD drive. I wish I would have purchased this one before. In order to describe this imagine you are used to drive an old Ford Fiesta and a friend of you is coming with a new BMW latest model in the market.
The performance of my laptop is great now. Installation was easy, of course can you open a laptop? my background is electronics therefore do not attempt to do things you shouldn’t do. The worst scenario is that you damage your laptop. I am assuming you are ok with that.
In my case as you open the laptop you can replace the SD Hard drive on the right hand side. It is lighter than the original Hard drive and fit perfectly. You must take care of the connector and avoid pulling things in a bad way!
Honestly the installation of the SD Hard Drive is quite straight forward, easier than replacing the Ram, in my HP you must remove the mother board to do that because seats behind and unfortunately in this model it is not accessible through the back like in some other laptops.

Assuming that you are ok with all this you must have know some knowledge of how to move your Windows version from your existing HD to the new SD Hard drive. If you don’t know how to do that I will recommend you to get a friend or take it to the shop. Last thing you want is to pay another license and lose all your stuff. Definitely make a backup in your cloud, external disk and take it easy but I can tell you that with this SD Samsung 870 QVO 1 TB SATA 2.5 you will be happy or at least I am. Alternatively you can buy a new Laptop “HP 15s-fq2016na Laptop – Core i5” pay 580 pounds *as today 27/08/21 for 512 GB SSD storage (this is half of the storage).

Golden Review Award: 43 From Our UsersGreat upgrade.
My laptop (3 years old Pentium 2 core, 4GB RAM, 1 TB HDD Acer aspire es1-571-p1vn) was disappointingly slow from day one. As it got older and more programs and updates installed it got painfully slow.
Although I use an android tablet for most things nowadays, I still need a windows platform PC laptop for some things like editing my website.
After reading reviews about the difference increasing memory and changing HDD storage to SSD can make i decided to do the same.
So glad I did, the difference is like night and day.
I first just upgraded the RAM from 4GB to 16GB which although improved the speed and range of usable programs it still had painfully slow start-up times and usability.
The RAM installation was a bit of a pain having to strip down the laptop and remove the motherboard to insert the memory boards to the underside.
The SSD drive installation however was quite easy.
After cloning the HDD drive to the new SSD all that was needed was to remove all the screws on the base of the laptop, lift the keyboard sufficiently and slightly move to the side without needing to remove its cables and wedge up with a none conductive pack. Then just remove the retaining screw on the bracket on the back end of the drive. Slide the drive away from the motherboard to unplug it, easy.
Swap the securing bracket from old drive to the new, slide in new drive and screw in the retaining screw to bracket.
Clip the keyboard back on, shut laptop and put the screws back in the bass of laptop and your done.
When booting you are prompted to select the new drive as boot drive and that’s the installation done.
The cloning software downloaded free from samsung.com was easy to use and it took a couple of hours to copy 250GB from my old HDD to the new SSD using usb3.

Extremely pleased with better than new laptop.
Cheap laptop now performs like a high end.
Bootup, logged in and start using in about 25 seconds now as apposed to 9 minutes.
Much quieter with no HDD as well.
I should think battery will last longer too but wrote this review straight away as so impressed with SSD.
In fact I think I will be using the laptop more often now as a pleasure to use.

Note. If you are also upgrading RAM which is a more time consuming process you may wish to consider if the bios battery will need replacing soon as that also is on the underside of the motherboard.
