Toshiba UF3D 65 Inch Smart Fire TV 165.1 cm (4K Ultra HD, HDR10, Freeview Play, Prime Video, Netflix, Alexa voice control, HDMI 2.1, Bluetooth, Airplay) [Energy Class E]

SMART- AND ALWAYS GETTING SMARTER
Fire TV is always getting smarter with new Alexa skills and voice functionality. With the Voice Remote with Alexa, just press and ask Alexa to easily find, launch, and control content. Quickly get to favourite apps and go beyond streaming to check sports scores, play music, or see your supported live camera feeds without interrupting your programme. You can also use Airplay to share videos, photos and music, and more from your compatible iPhone or iPad.
Remember it's Amazon fire tv
For the money it’s a brilliant TV the quality is very good and applications work so fast with no lagging ,the TV stand could be a bit better, once you learn how to navigate the menu it’s a very good TV
Very lovely
The tv is very good and the delivery was fast and I love the tv I got 65″and it’s exactly the size I wanted the Alexa built in works very well I will recommend this to people
Couldn’t get Freeview to work at first but did a factory reset which another purchaser recommended I do and great!,all working fine thanks to that other purchaser telling me what to do so I’m passing this on to anyone having trouble getting the terrestrial channels to work
good value for money
just one thing wrong, after 4hrs you get interrupted by a message asking if you still there, you can switch off the notification and it gets replaced with a blank screen after the 4hrs, really annoying if your a gamer.
Very good value for money
Was dubious ordering a TV on amazon but I’m so glad I did. Great value for money. Great picture quality for the price paid. Good sound etc.
Love the fully built in amazon/Alexa. Highly recommend.
Lovely tv NO HDM1 CABLE
Lovely tv,had trouble 1st of all with the hdm connection, not very good with thec so my nephew helped, doesn’t come with hdm1 cable,so had to buy that seperate
Would not connect to cable box
I followed the very basic instructions. Everything worked except it would not find my Virgin cable box.
Eventually decided to return it after a very helpful Amazon techie could not solve the problem and Toshiba’s help was too busy.
However after a factory reset to remove my passwords and personal data the Virgin Box connected and all is well.
One other nigle , the optical socket is very poor and the cable kept falling out, I have connected with an HDMI to the ark socket instead.
A great TV but with a few drawbacks
A great TV in both size and proformance, A couple of small niggles, The tv guid takes a while to come up, and when it dose and you click onto a tv chanel that you want to watch from the guide you get a message to check the antenna conection as the TV can not find that station, dispite showing it in the guide along with the currant programme. but useing the voice remote you can jump to the channel that you wanted.
The soud via my sound bar is fantastic with movies in 4G and Dolby Atmos,This gives the full cinama experance without leaving your home.I would reccomend a decent sound bar that can handle Dolby Atmos
As this where this TV excels.
An up grade needed
Like the look of the telly great picture quite easy to install. Reviews helped as one little problem in setting up. But put back to factory settings for the HDMI cable as it wasn’t recognising it. Then it was all sorted. Dislike only personal choice the stand prefer a swivel base.
3 dead pixels Replacement looks good so fa
Ordered this tv and it came with 3 faint white dots which I think were dead pixels . Amazon was fantastic with dealing with the issue and in 3 days the replacement was here and they collected the faulty one the day before so 4 stars overall. The Replacement TV looks amazing so far.
Brilliant and cheap
I’ve had this TV a while now and it’s been a Gem, the installed fireTV makes it a doddle to use with most of the same features. The HDMI 2.1 works as expected (there seems to be some confusion amongst other reviews about this) I can clarify that it indeed does work as 2.1 should expect with eArc/Arc and how a 60hz TV should work. What it won’t do is turn the TV into a 120hz TV so you can hook your ps5 or Xbox up and pretend to be a PC gamer you’ll need a 120hz TV for that and this one is only 60hz
HDMI connections work
You should connect either your Xbox or Playstation console before turning on and setting up the TV. I had the same issue but I solved it by doing a factory reset and turned off the TV, connect my Xbox with hdmi cable before you turn on the TV and it worked.
Arrived quickly. Stand assembly a bit fiddly- make sure you use the flat head screws on bottom. Fire set-up fairly straight forward.
But system refused to recognise any of the three HDMI inputs.
I even purchased new HDMI 2.1 cables but it still made no difference.
Spent hours looking at the various menus , even found the Toshiba manual to download.
I was ready to send it back, but thought I would have one final attempt to solve problem.
I did a ‘Factory Reset. Went through the complete set-up again.
And there they were, all three of the HDMI working proberly.
No idea why, but it now works well and worth the money, if not the headaches.
A First-Time TV Buyer's Deligh
My very first TV purchase has been a delightful experience. Opting for a 43-inch size might sound extensive, but it turned out to be perfect for immersive enjoyment. Assembly was a breeze, taking a mere 20-30 minutes to set it up on our TV stand.
The TV’s image clarity and high resolution enhance the viewing experience. The sound quality is great, and the sleek remote, coupled with built-in Alexa, adds a smart and convenient touch. The automatic power-off feature after a few minutes of inactivity is not only convenient but also energy-saving.
This TV accommodates a variety of program apps, including Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, BBC Player, catering to diverse interests. In our case, we primarily enjoy the seamless streaming experience on Netflix and Prime Video.
Overall, a fantastic addition to our home entertainment setup.
Great TV and Fantastic Value for Money
After our much more expensive 5 year old LG Signature TV stopped working a couple of weeks ago and a little fed up of paying a lot of money for a TV decided to give this 65″ Toshiba a try. At between 400 and 500 it seemed a relative bargain. It is hard to tell the picture difference between this and a TV that cost 5 times a much. Yes the speakers are fairly average (in my opinion) but we have it linked to a Sonos Arc, Sub and 2 One SL’s so the sound really doesn’t matter to us at all. The remote is pretty straightforward to use and it has Apps for BBC, Netflix etc etc. I’m sure we haven’t got to anything like all the features yet but overall very happy with the purchase so far.
Superb picture quality
Only took 24hrs to arrive and we are very happy with the TV. Great picture and sound but even better through soundbar. Very easy to install and set up but 2 people needed to lift onto TV unit . Good, heavy base that feels stable enough and TV comes with wall tethering clips for extra safety. Remote is so easy to use and downloads are easy to install are as apps. Very pleased and would recommend to anyone who wants a 65 in telly without breaking the bank. Love it.
Replacement by Toshiba- what more.
Great quality, nice and slim with decent feet.
My router is in another room but Toshiba has no problem with built-in WiFi.
Sound is nice with a menu to choose from a range just as choosing picture mode and other features.
Adding both a DVD player and storage for recording programs a doddle.
Fair enough I’m no expert with screen and sound facilities or gaming which I don’t use so gaming feature I cannot comment.
However, as far as a great TV for terrestrial and Netflix etc. this has been an excellent buy.
Kinda wished I had gone for wall mounted as it was a choice when delivered. It’ll cost far more if I want to later, never mind got what I wanted, well done Tosh’.
For context in 2012 I was looking for a high quality large TV for our lounge. I bought a top-of-the-range 60 inch Samsung LED backlit LCD TV and was horrified by the backlight bleed – irregular clouds of white. I tried another and it was the same. I can’t remember what the state of OLED was at the time, but I went for a 60 inch plasma instead and was happy. Over the years I realised that when it came to replace it I would have to get an OLED because I hated the not-black black in the LCD TVs. Fast forward to 2023 and the plasma died. We’re planning to move house sometime soon so buying a new OLED TV which may not be suitable for the new house seems like a bad idea. The plasma died too soon.
After seeing used TVs sell for far too much I decided to buy a new TV for the lounge that was cheap enough that it could be demoted to another room in a new house. Being close to Thanksgiving I waited for black Friday deals and saw this TV for a 5% discount. There were cheaper ones but without QLED and from what I understand about the technology I thought it was worth the extra. I considered both Hisense and TCL TVs but the equivalents were actually more that this one. I knew that although it has the Toshiba brand it is actually made by Vestel, but I have some experience of products from that Turkish company so I wasn’t deterred.
So I’ve had it a week now and I am quite pleased with the TV. There are no misbehaving pixels which rather surprised me (the plasma had one and my Samsung ultrawide monitor has one). For the price the picture seems very good and the QLED makes it much more vibrant that regular LCD. As expected the screen displays grey from the LED backlight instead of black, however it is mostly uniform and therefore not irritating like the bleed from those Samsung TVs had been. I am using the TV with a separate 5.1 sound system but when I first set it up the internal speakers did not sound terrible to me.
Mechanically the TV shows its price – it is just good enough. The manufacturing finish is only medium quality and on the stand the TV will easily wobble. I have it wall-mounted and this makes it obvious that the chassis can flex a little. Of course this is no problem once it is on the wall. The VESA mounts are 400×200 which is minimal for a 65 inch TV and they are low on the TV – I had to use adaptor plates to extend my wall mount so that it does not sit too high.
The Fire TV UI seems fine to me – just another build of Android TV. There seems to be plenty of configuration options – too many for me to care about much. 4K streaming from the included apps is fine although I may still use my NVIDIA Shield TV via HDMI because I am used to it. What I am a little disappointed in is the time the TV takes to turn on, especially if it was last configured to the tuner. Compared to the older TVs I have been used to it is too long. I would prefer a TV whose tuner is separate from the Android TV. However this is not a deal-breaker and I’ll just get used to it – I stream far more than I watch live TV anyway.
Overall I think I made the right decision buying this TV. The big brands have non-QLED TVs for more than this and I am not convinced that there would be anything about them that would make that extra money seem worth it. Whilst I accept that some of the competitor QLED TVs might be better, they do cost more, and in many cases a lot more. I definitely recommend this TV as a good value mid-range large TV.
UPDATE: I have got used to the slightly slower start-up time. Sometimes it seems quite quick and other times it takes longer. It is tolerable. Streaming on Fire TV is also mostly fine, but I found that ITVX could sometimes seem a bit stuttery, as if the picture was overcompressed and this was causing a decompression lag. The difference was obvious when watching ITVX from my Shield TV so I am mostly using the latter (except for C4 which is still not supported). I found that my old HDMI cables needed to be replaced to higher spec so that 4K and CEC ARC worked properly, and the Amazon basics cables are great. I still have no regrets about buying this TV, however I shall be buying an OLED TV in the future because LCD blacks in a darkened room are simply not black enough.
Did this video because had i known how slow it is to boot up (not from Standby, from Off), it would’ve influenced my decision pre-purchase. I can (do) live with it, but thought it might be helpful to others (I’ve had it for about 4 or 5 months). In essence, it was 400 pounds very well spent: picture is good, sound sync via optical link with soundbar is very good (you need to set the lag in settings), and I like the fact that there are plenty of ports (most of mine are unused, but good to have). The built-in WiFi is flawless, as is the Fire TV element. I’ve tested it’s picture and sound between a) coax (‘normal’ TV aerial), b) WiFi and c) hard-wired ethernet cable (I don’t have Sky or cable TV, just Freeserve, Netflix & Prime Video). All are good, although the hard-wired ethernet connection compares especially well vs aerial, especially in poor weather when the DTV aerial picture sometimes struggles. This 65″ TV replaced a 65″ LG OLED for which I paid 3,000 pounds 6 years ago, and which was starting to suffer from screen burn. The only reason for mentioning that, is to put into context against what I’m comparing this TV. The 6 year-old LG OLED was much better when I used UHD and it had less reflection (see vid), no lag from Off and wasn’t restricted to Tosh/Fire apps., but is that worth 2,400 pounds extra? Not in my world. This TV’s great (I also bought one for my Dad), and most people won’t be disappointed by the general features, but do be aware the start-up takes around 65 seconds. Also, it’s important to know that unless your plug socket is within 3m of the TV, you’ll have to either rewire and extend it (immediately nullifying your warranty), or buy a longer cable. If you’ve chased cables behind the wall mount and swing bracket (as I’ve done), you immediately lose 1m between the right hand side TV power port and the recessed wall tunnel (allowing for the bracket to swing without pulling out the cable), then ~1.5m to the skirting board, so if your socket isn’t right there, buy that longer cable alongside the TV.
I’ve just bought this TV for my 79 year old mother. She is thrilled to bits with it.
It looks to be a really nice TV actually. Quite light and easy to move around. Picture looks crystal clear. It’s got all the regular apps like iPlayer etc. Setup procedure was faultless, very easy. Easy to navigate menus Nicely laid out remote – although perhaps small for an older person. I hope the Onkyo sound has the “ooophm” so she can hear it!! Lol
At this Black Friday price of 254, for a 4K UHD smart tv, it’s just amazing.
(review left after a week of usage, having bought the item myself!)
I bought the set to replace an older Toshiba model. I had upgraded to an Xbox Series X, so wanted to get the best compatiblity from that with the new set. The first thing to say is that out of the box, the colour settings will give you an immediate migraine, so you will want to address that immediately! The problem here is, there is NO MANUAL with the set (55″) to show you how to achieve this. You need to hold the “HOME” button on the remote until the menu comes up for the input you are trying to change settings for, and you can go from there to get to your liking. (The remote, by the way – will look very familiar if you have ever owned a Fire Stick!) You will need to repeat this procedure for each active input you have on your set.
The next main issue I encountered, was that the set will not by default play ANY of the media I have on my external HDDs, despite there being a native “media player” built in to the set. If you want to remedy this, you can go into the app store and download “VLC PLAYER” which will solve the problem. I know you shouldn’t have to do this, but it’s a work-around to get things going.
Other than that, a fairly pleasant experience using it and watching content etc. The HDR was easy enough to configure, but as this is my 1st HDR set, I have nothing to base this against. As such, I won’t go into too much detail about it either – suffice it to say that what I’ve seen with it was not displeasing! Overall, a solid 4 stars, taking into account the lack of instructions, and the media player issues.
Pros’
*lovely picture quality
*sound is fine for standard sound, would suit more with a sound bar ect,
*it’s basically a giant mirror when it’s off too
*turns it self off to save power quickly but this can be adjusted
* you can sent a slideshow of photos to come on when no activity
Cons
* slideshow only shows about 10 pictures then the tv turns off, and there is no way to change this even when spending 6 hours online trying to find out ways, there’s just no way to make the slideshow last longer, I personally would like it going on in the background whenever I’m not watching tele, and I turn it off when I leave a room anyway.
*so big it wobbles when you walk past it might be my flooring but I’m not heavy either and even my 5 year old walking past it it wobbles, it does have ties for the back which I will be applying
* the Home Screen shows movies you may want to watch, but doesn’t always show the best suggestion option, for example my 5 year old has been watching encanto on repeat, she’s turned the tele on and it’s got encanto as the first option, but instead of on Disney+ which it is usually watched on it gave the option for Amazon prime video which was 15 for the same movie we watch 4 times a day on repeat for free, so she didn’t know she just thought it was her normal encanto, and paid for it while I left the room for less than 1 min, I didn’t realise until halfway though, but now I do have parental controls but I didn’t like that instead of showing us the option we always use it showed the option which would cost me money
But overall great tele, and the pros app weigh out the cons for me even more so with a low price for a 65″
Ordered and delivered within 48 hours.
A good looking easy to set up TV. Not the most modern looking of models, but it does its job and has all the bells and whistles I need at a can’t be beaten price. Has a good, crisp and sharp picture.
The only problem I had on assembly was matching up my sound bar to the TV, still not fathomed it but I am sure I will. The warranty period is not easy to find on Amazon but it is 12 months, some retailers offer longer but can’t match the price.
On the whole, a good value purchase that on receipt and first usage I am very happy with.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very good quality
This is exactly as described, very big and very clear picture quality
5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good
Excellent picture, maybe too good as you can see the cheap sets in some scenes
5.0 out of 5 stars good
Very good, the base too, but I feel like it vibrates from anything, I would recommend hanging it on the wall instead of on a table
5.0 out of 5 stars Good TV
Nothing wrong with the TV. Very happy with it until it broke at the ariel port and had to be returned
Channel guide
If you can not find the next days channel guide do a rescan then to find programs for the following days you have to scan though the channel guide the long way across to get to the next day.
Amazing Quality 👏
I accidentally broke my old Samsung TV, which was 3 times the price, this TV I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Only bought because of other reviews, Sooo Glad I did, Great Deal
Great buy
Have had it for a week now. Absolutely happy with it, no issues with either setup or performance. Good picture, I use speakers so the sound is better. Also connected to PS4, all working well.
Purchased a Toshiba 55 inch television from you, so pleased with it . I use my Alexa with it .
I paid for it to be installed by Amazon so pleased I done that as technology is not my forte. Price was amazing so yes I would definitely recommend television.
The TV guide and channel select response is really slow, sometimes taking upto a minute before you see the channel you have selected.
As an older gentalman it took me awhile to get used to this but now i think its great, all your apps in one place.
4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic quality
Great picture & sound quality
Very easy to assemble
Easy to fit to wall (Wall bracket not included)
4.0 out of 5 stars Great quality picture
Luckily stand just fits on my mantle. Only minus, quite slow to fire up! Love the alexa control on it, handy in dark.
Fantastic Quality
Bought to replace a recently broken TV and previously had that connected to a Subwoofer sound system to provide decent quality sound. Either this TV literally put on wall without connecting existing sound system to test what this was like. Immediately realised I didn’t have to connect my sound system as the quality of sound is superb. In fact too much volume available should you need it. Very easy to use, great remote, plenty of HDMI ports available. I’ve got my stereo, game system, Broadband router, and vinyl record player and all work great. Fast access to any additional TV packages such as Netflix & Prime. Very easy access to the Internet. Haven’t tested WiFi yet because not needed but brilliant picture quality. Highly recommended
I bought this television from a well known seller.
But when I got it home it did not work and looked as though it had been sold to someone previously. So I sent it back. I looked on Amazon and was surprised to find the same television at a cheaper price. I therefore ordered it and found it worked perfectly and it was new. I think I will be buying more stuff from Amazon in the future.
everything about i
Even though the television is great I would not Buy another again, this is because I went through 20 pages of remote controls for a Toshiba CT-8565 with no success. Its like as if their is no such remote.
Picture not brilliant.
I’m not really complaining at the price, and I sit in the same place to watch TV so doesn’t affect me much, but you only have to move a couple of metres to either side and the picture washes out and loses definition – a major negative if several people are watching from different places in the room. I also can’t make Alexa work, but that may be me being stupid. Seen a few comments about remote, don’t really understand them unless you’ve got fingers like the incredible hulk. Small, neat, does what it says on the tin. All in all I think a 55” Smart, HD TV for 329 is decent and I’m happy. Set up is also easy – though be patient with update and download, it does them twice which it doesn’t say in manual. Mostly good, let’s see how long it lasts – I’ve got an LG upstairs that’s 18 years old and perfect, but this is to replace a Sharp that died after 6.
Looks amazing
The tv is a really good size and the picture is brillia
Nice TV
A nice TV and fits into my room nicely, only dissatisfaction is I have to go into settings to set the timer.
No worries
Bought this for a spare room and it is hooked into all our streaming services for guests. Works over Wi-Fi and streams just dandy so no worries. It isn’t anywhere near the performance of our much larger ‘proper’ TVs which are LG but to be fair, it is a quarter of the price at least so no complaints.
For the price i paid this is an absolute bargain tv.some people have complained about the tv guide being slow which isnt something ive had to deal with as a sky mini box is plugged in with an xbox and response is instant to both.hd picture quality is good and certainly more than happy with it as a 2nd tv for the kids.sub 400 its a no brainer for the size.
UPDATED REVIEW: I had some issues with the first unit that Amazon sent me, but after getting a replacement I can finally give a final score. This TV offers a decent panel, with pretty bright colours and a bunch of nice features also present in most TVs at this price point, but I would say that the sound, which isn’t great (something that I expected) is probably a bit better than their rivals. However, most of you would probably rather use a decent soundbar with eARC technology.
One thing that I liked is the fact that Fire TV works much better and in a snappier way than Android TV at this price point, so browsing the menus and looking for apps or content is much nicer from my point of view. The drawback is that Fire TV is much more limited, so there are less apps, less flexibility and it won’t allow you to rename your inputs with whatever name you want (you will have to select from a very limited list that it doesn’t contain something as simple as “Computer”) Another think that I didn’t like is that if you select UK as your location it will just offer you a few language in the TV OS. My mother language is Spanish so I found that a bit annoying that Canadian French was an option over a European language that can be understood by almost a billion people in the world. Seriously Amazon?
If you are going to use this TV with a PC, it might require a bit of tinkering in order to remove all the pre-processing stuff that is applied to image by default. Once you have done that you should be getting a clear enough image with almost no artifacting and you can save the configuration for each input. It’s still not an ideal panel to connect a PC though, a big monitor with high refresh rate, or a high-end gaming TV will be much more suitable options. But if you are ok with that, it will definitely do the trick.
The VESA mounting system chosen is a bit strange, to be honest. 100×100 for a 43″ TV is going to put quite a lot of stress into the plastic carcass. I have mounted it on the wall and for the moment it looks good, but I wouldn’t try to tilt it down in case the plastic casing isn’t strong enough. It’s preferable to install the wall mount a bit lower. Also, be careful with the bottom left screw hole, it seems to be less deep than the rest. I needed to use a shorter screw in order to be able to mount it.
In conclusion, this TV is a good option if your are on a tight budget that pair up nicely with an Xbox Series S or a budget PC. It will also work very well as a cheap video streaming solution. But with some noticeable compromises. It won’t be ideal for those who look for top-notch features.
OLD REVIEW: The TV was faulty and it’s going back to Amazon. I guess that I just was unlucky, so I ordered a replacement. I’ll be updating this review when I get a unit that works as it should, but it has to be one star for the time being.
The first TV that arrived was faulty, the replacement is great. Good picture and sound.
I wouldn’t recommend booking the installation through Amazon the same time as buying the product.
When the engineer eventually managed to fit the TV to the wall (on the 3rd attempt) and we found it to be faulty, he refused to take it off the wall so I could return it, saying he’d take it down when he came back to fit the replacement – “that’s how it works”.
When the time came, the company (Fox Tel) refused to come back and said ‘the customer needs to get a local engineer’.
I’d booked the product and the service together in the hope of making things stress-free, but it turned out to be a time-consuming hassle involving several long calls with Amazon, who themselves were helpful.
Luckily I found a friend to help remove the faulty TV and fit the replacement, avoiding a second engineer call-out charge.
Simple to get up and runing
Nice light weight, straight forward to install log in to your amazon account follow on screen instructions done
The TV was much larger than expected. We didn’t even open the box. I couldn’t print a return label so wrote the info on the box. The crew that delivered the 55″ TV collected the 65″ one which was great as it meant I didn’t have 2 big boxes to navigate past in my lounge.
Excelle
Superb. Light as a feather. Can lift it with one hand. Nice stand. Good gear! Recommend
TV powers on fast, and automatically picks up where you left off, for example, if you power off while on the fire TV user interface, when you power it on it will be on the fire TV UI. Same thing with the source inputs.
This was important to me as I want to use the TV mainly as a pc monitor. I didn’t want to have to switch to HDMI 1 every time I turned it on, potentially having to navigate a slow smart TV interface. (The fire TV UI isn’t slow at all, it was just a worry I had before using)
If I was to buy a second TV, I would buy this one agai
Great all rounder, to get a fifth star it needs to not turn itself off completely after about 15 mins when on pause! Despite trying all the fixes
Such a shame as picture quality is amazing for the price point.
But for everyday TV viewing, the unit is not fit for purpose.
It takes so long to load the TV guide and change channels, about 30seconds to a minute sometimes longer! Which is completely unacceptable in this day and age.
I have been patiently waiting for a software update to fix this, but nothing yet!
All other functions are fine, but I would not recommend this TV, solely because of the TV guide.
Stay Clear!
Update:
TV guide is sluggish due to interference from WiFi.
Turn off the TV WiFi, then follow the instructions on the photo attached.
Turn the WiFi back on, problem should be solved.
Hope this helped worked for me
1 week in & happy so far. It seems good value for what it offers. Seems to work well for streaming. Really easy to get to & use any of the current & latest subscription options of Amazon, Netflix, Disney+ & Paramount+. YouTube is there. And the ‘free’ ones like BBC iplayer, ITVX, and so on. Links up nice with HDMI connected devices, the blu ray player & cable/satellite provider. If you have a digital ariel, that could be its weaker point. Via the ariel it can take a while to load channel or TV guide. And the picture can blink on ariel channels. The sound is generally not great, whatever source you’re viewing on. The picture does seem more fleshed out than clearly defined, but I have felt similar with other 4k UHD TVs. Depending how long it’s been since your last new TV, the number of menu screens may seem a bit overwhelming. But, it’s the way things are going.
On the whole I’m happy with this TV this was a big purchase for me.
For a 65″ 4k TV with 60hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision this is good.
I was already using a firestick so I was used to the ecosystem if you are not used to it this TV will be alot to get used to.
It has 3 hdmi sockets one of which is the arc for audio connection so 2. Taking into account you won’t be plugging a firestick or cube into it that saves one so a uhd blu-ray player and a console and the arc to a sound bar is a fine set up. There is an optical out on the TV so that’s an option but arc means you can still use the TV remote for volume which was a deal breaker for me. The bezzle of this TV does feel flimsy but its not something you would move around. My biggest problem is a lack of instructions there is a 2 page pdf starter thing but I had many questions I could not get answers to.
My biggest issue is you can adjust picture settings brightness, contrast ect via individual inputs so you can edit settings for hdmi 1, 2,3 but if you want to adjust the picture while watching streamed content via an app you are locked out adjusting settings.
If you are very fussy about settings I would advise going for a TV like a mid range LG and buying a 4K Firestick. Where the Firestick interface is good it obvious it has limitations. The version built into this TV has had the ability to side load 3rd party apps removed! so again if you have specific VPN that you use I’d advise skipping this one and getting a mid range LG and a 4k Firestick.
It’s a fine TV I don’t regret the purchase but their are limitations.
I purchased this TV for my 92 year old Grandmother who is hard of hearing. About 12 months ago i changed my nan from an older style tv to a newer flat screen LCD TV, ever since i installed it she has complained that she is unable to hear any dialogue coming from the TV. As a result i have been on the look out for an easy to use, simple, good quality audio TV to replace the old one for my nan.
When i came across this TV i studied the reviews and most were extremely positive, as a result i ordered this TV for her. The box this TV comes in is huge, however it is a 55″ set. Unpacking and screwing on the included stand was very easy and completed in about 10mins. One thing that really attracted me to this TV was the simplicity of the TV remote. My nan get’s very confused with complicated remotes with lots of buttons on! It has dedicated buttons for Netflix and Disney which are easily identifiable. The TV itself is very attractive with a central stand. It looks super smart and appears very well made.
Turning on the TV requires you to sign into an amazon account, once this is completed the TV updated itself via the ethernet connection i plugged into the rear of the set (it also has wifi if you are unable to hard wire). Once the software update completed i went through the standard fire stick set up which is super easy. I installed a few basic apps for her like Netflix and Britbox. The app store on this TV is vast and just like a normal fire stick.
The TV scans for digital Terrestrial channels and puts them in order on the TV guide. Selecting live TV is as easy as pushing one button on the remote. Picture quality was excellent! Crisp and clear images with good contrast, brightness and details visible. Changing to fire OS again was super easy for my nan, you just press the House button and it takes you to the front screen. Now for the most important test, could my hard of hearing grandmother hear what the actors were saying – YES! She could hear every word! I was super chuffed!
In summary this Toshiba Fire TV is absolutely amazing value for money! The set is super smart, picture quality is fantastic and the audio is loud/crisp and super clear! My nan is over the moon with the TV. I have waited over a week to write this review to ensure my nan is happy with the TV, she still is (which is very unlike her to be honest!)
I can not recommend this TV enough to others. Fire TV OS is a great smart platform and to have it built into a TV set makes it so much easier for elderly people – my nan would never be able to change a HDMII source on the TV!
Fantastic TV – Amazing Value for Money.
I hope that you found my review helpful.
Absolutely love this tv with a smooth Alexa voice control. Stylish, sleek, ultra thin with a great sound and a beautiful clear picture. Already loaded with Prime & Netflix and lots of free apps, I am ‘hooked’ on this beautiful tv.
This was a great deal at 269 or an even better deal to buy the bundle; same tv + video ring doorbell for the SAME price of 269. Who wouldn’t love a deal like that? Sadly my tv arrived without the ring doorbell and when I spoke to customer services (normally a positive experience) the lady told me “I had accidentally unchecked the bundle and selected just the tv” hence no ring doorbell. Errr what?
The second lady I spoke to told me “at the time I ordered the bundle the promotion was finished” .. I checked and it was still ongoing. So no ring doorbell. Huh? Are you saying I saw a great bundle deal, but when I ordered it, the promotion ‘suddenly’ became unavailable and then the next day became available again???
Becoming a tad irate I sent an email to customer services attaching a screenshot of the bundle promotion showing it still available. Then I spoke to a third lady.. “that’s not very good service from us” she said. “Don’t worry, be patient and I will send you a ring doorbell .. you will receive it by the 21st October. Ahh relief, somebody is taking my complaint seriously!
Needless to say the 21st came and went .. and no ring doorbell. At that point I confess, I gave up.
So, here we are reviewing my fabulous new tv..
However, for the outrageous customer service, Amazon .. I’m giving you a 4 star rating (it would have been a 5 star because I absolutely love the tv). But instead of the joy of playing with my video ring doorbell (I’ve secretly coveted one since they first came out) instead at the age of 65 I’m moving in two weeks, sadly alone, into a new flat. The ring doorbell would have provided extra security for me, but being an OAP, I can’t afford to buy the video ring doorbell.. I’m still paying for the tv.
I have since found out that when you add the bundle to your basket, it’s fine until you go to pay for it (in this case through Klarna) because it automatically selects the single item and you have to re select the bundle. Sadly, didn’t notice (being new to Klarna and all.
So instead of dreaming of a white Christmas, I’m dreaming of a video ring doorbell. Perhaps .. just perhaps .. when Amazon review my review they will relent .. and send me the video ring doorbell I ordered. Now that would be the excellent customer service I know they usually provide .. and they’d be keeping an old lady safe in her new home!
Toshiba UF3D 43 Inch Smart Fire TV 109.2 cm (4K Ultra HD, HDR10, Freeview Play, Prime Video, Netflix, Alexa voice control, HDMI 2.1, Bluetooth, Airplay).
This arrived promptly the next upon ordering in perfect condition.
My husband and I unpackaged it carefully and took it upstairs as we decided to put it in the bedroom and remove our old TV, the old TV was a 50″ but just a basic TV with built in free view only and it had shadowing on the screen.
This Toshiba TV has gone on the wall, on the same wall mount and in the same place the old one was…… It didn’t take long to do this.
Once switched on we got it connected to our WiFi, it connected with no issues on the first attempt.
We then did an auto search for channels, signed into amazon ect.
This TV is fantastic but the settings are not very good especially if you want to change the sound as you can not hear what you are setting it too as it takes you from the TV to the settings so if the sound settings arnt right you have to keep going back to settings to get it to your liking…. So I think there should be a ghost screen so you don’t have to keep going back as its quite annoying.
The remote control is like an amazon firestick control, its quite small but works as it should….. The remote works the same as the amazon firestick remote.
This TV is exactly as the description describes and works perfectly, just the minor settings issue but I guess I will get used to that.
It’s so good that I can lay in bed and watch anything I like which could be on normal TV, amazon, you tube and so much more.
It works fast too.
I can reccomend and the price is actually reasonable considering all the things that are built into it.
Very happy with this!
The TV is 4k with hdr content, it has a 43″ screen, the screen is very clear and even more clear on the HD channels.
