I was impressed with the apparent quality of the mattress on unpacking it, and it quickly inflated itself. I left it with the valve open for a week or so before use to ensure it was fully unfolded. I didn’t notice any chemical smell on unpacking. When it came to packing it down, the clever little valve worked well, enabling me to get all the air out with only two sets of roll-and-squash. It’s quite a bulky pack but not too heavy, fine for car camping. On the campsite, it quickly re-inflated without intervention from me and I just closed the valve after a couple of hours. I found that comfortable and slept very well indeed. So far, so good and I am happy with it.

Easy to inflate. Very good valve system and super comfy to sleep on. Much better than other brand’s “dreamcatcher” self inflating mats.

Best self inflating mattress ever. Extremely comfortable. Just follow the instructions on the page and watch the video at the end of the pictures. Easy to inflate but takes a little bit of effort to roll up and get the air out. Lovely oversized bag to get the mattress back in. Definitely worth the money.

Fantastic. So easy to inflate/deflate and so comfortable. Just what you need for camping.

Supremely comfortable and easy to use all be it only for home or car use as it is so bulky and heavy. My only reservation is the colours of the mat….light green on the top especially, that it would be prone to marking in a camping environment. For this reason I returned it and got a darker colour but had to pay a but more for the equivalent ‘Comfort’ model elsewhere. Otherwise the perfect mat where comfort rather than portability is the priority

I have been sleeping on it for a good few weeks now. Has not deflated at all! Very good quality! Highly recommend for anyone who loves firm matress.

My wife swears by hers but I was dubious. Bought one anyway and it’s great. Best camping bed I’ve used. Still not up to my bed at home’s standard but…..

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFirst things first: this mattress is for you only if you’re travelling to and from the campsite by car. It is absolutely not a backpacking mattress. Just to be clear. But, if you are travelling by car, it’s awesome.

Now, we have a bell tent, so there’s plenty of room in it. And that’s important because this is a full length mattress and 75cm (2’6″) wide. My wife and I bought two, let them inflate, put them together, put a regular 150cm (5′) fitted sheet over them to keep them together and, hey presto, a very comfortable double bed (easily as comfortable as our ‘home’ mattress). We added pillows and a duvet, and had great sleeps.

To inflate: just unscrew both valves and wait. It does take up to a couple of hours to fully inflate, especially if you rolled them up really well after previous use. But you don’t need to add air (not even sure you can!). Just don’t forget to do both valves up before you go lying on it.

Deflation: I read some reviews saying that this mattress is difficult to deflate. Rubbish. Simply undo the valves (!), kneel at the other end of it, and start to roll up the mattress, half-turn by half-turn and, towards the end, bit by bit. At each slight turn, kneel on it to push the air out. Simplez. When you’re done, do the valves up, and use the elastic loops provided to stop it unrolling. Goes back in the bag with plenty of room to spare.

Durability? No idea yet. But it seems well made, and the seams are generous and soft, so there’s no reason to think they will fail.

Easy to use, and very comfortable. It’s a tad difficult to roll up in a small tent, but at least it goes back into the carry bag – I can usually never get anything back into the stuff sacks camping equipment comes in. It’s extra wise as well, so gives you a bit more space to spread out on.

Just spent 7 nights under canvas sleeping on this. Bought two and put a double sheet over both, in my opinion a better option than a double. I’m not a keen camper as I usually find it difficult to sleep but I must say these were a good purchase. Worth the extra spend, better than a lilo (which often have a limited lifespan). Only negative is they are a little tricky to fold up and bulky to store but should give years of service (thinking sleepovers and sudden extra guests).

    Having tried the King Camp
Deluxe single first as it was half the price of this ( which i had to return as it leaked ) Believe me there is no comparison this is way, way better. And the valve system is quite ingenious, so all in all Highly recommended.

Had 2 nights on it. Easy to use – comfortable to sleep. Great size to sleep with a little kid during camping.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersHaving not camped since my mid teens some 40 years ago, maturity (thats a laugh! okay the addition of more years!) drives a desire not to sleep on the ground. I did purchase a camp bed for that very purpose and this was to go on top!
I know, I’m not ruffing it for anyone.
Anyway camp bed went back because it didn’t fit the tent.
So this is on the ground.
The self inflation is not as good as it could be. you defiantly need to put more air in. You can of course blow into it. But you will be adding moister to the inner foam. I purchased LEXTAILGEAR MAX PUMP 2020 Portable Air Pump with 3600mAH Battery USB Rechargeable Air Pump-Quick Inflate Deflate for Air Mattress, Pool Toys, Floats, Swimming Ring, Air Bed, Vacuum Storage Bags for the job.
If you get the mattress get the pump too. Check the lightening deals!
So once inflated you do not know you are only a few centimetres off the ground. I sleep on my side and my hips do not touch the ground. I feel very comfortable.
Deflation and packing away is a breeze.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve got serious back issues from years of driving, sitting on a computer, etc. and this mattress is the most comfortable I’ve ever been camping. I would never imagine being this comfy on a field…. this thing is amazing 🙂

Ideal for camping. Extremely comfortable when placed on an airbed to raise it off the floor. Also used in back of car for day/night trips when out and about with the cameras.
Was a little dubious when i brought it but now I’m thoroughly convinced about its usefulness.
Warm to, can’t think of one problem I’ve had with it.

Golden Review Award: 29 From Our UsersWe already have a 10cm SIM and, happy with it, we decided to buy another. That particular brand was unavailable so we decided to go with this in a similar price bracket.
Being able to compare the 2, this one inflated to a slightly thicker size (both are 10cm SIMS). Both are easy to inflate but the Vango is easier to deflate because it has a valve that can be spun round to be either open or one way (lets air out but not in). The other mat only has either ‘open’ or ‘closed’ valve so draws air back in as you are trying to squeeze it out, meaning you have to roll up & get cap on fast before it re-inflates. This you can properly squeeze all the air out without it drawing any back in. Although the vango valve is plastic and looks worse quality than the brass one on my original mat, it’s actually better.
The mat is much much comfier than other options I’ve tried (air beds and camp beds). No real difference in comfort levels between the other SIM though, that is to say they are both very comfortable. And I’d recommend going for the slightly wider size as I did so can roll over without end up off the mat.

My only minor criticism would be it didn’t come with instructions.
I’ve since seen that you should 1. leave it flat with cap off for 24hrs before first use 2. Let a little air out to find comfort level before sleep, and 3. should leave cap off in hot weather to prevent over expansion.
Plus it took a minute to realise you have to spin the valve to inflate – just taking the cap off does nothing. Not sure if our instructions were missing or whether they’re not actually provided.

Mine needs a single mouth blow to unstick the valve and then it inflates. It flies up in about 7 seconds and then maybe another 30 to be firm. I waited about 25 minutes before the puff of air and it wasn’t inflating, just the foam expanding a bit. Its very difficult to roll up, took about a minute but really needed to grip and twist with my hands to roll it away from me towards the valve on deflate. Its narrower than the air bed i’m used to but that deflated so this should be better. I though the grande would suffice but my elbows slightly over hang the edges. I’d get a double but i wouldn’t be able to roll it up without help.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI used this for 5 nights at Glastonbury festival. Traditional air mattresses deflate or burst too easily but this stayed really comfortable for the whole event. The combination of foam and air provides a softness similar to a normal mattress. The outer is a fabric which is much more puncture resistant. The self inflating valve rotates inside the opening one direction to inflate and one to deflate. To inflate just leave it open and unroll it. Leave it for 10 mins and it will be perfect. Close the cap and you are good to use it. When deflating open the cap, rotate the valve to ‘deflate’ and slowly roll and kneel on the roll to push all the air out. Put the straps around it and put it back in the back. It comes with a puncture repair kit and carrier bag. It is larger than normal to carry deflated, but soooo worth it for a good comfortable nights sleep.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI should have bought one of these years ago. Sleeping on a “normal” mat means I rarely sleep well, and usually wake up with back ache.
I’ve only used this for three nights in a tent so far, but they were three comfortable nights, and I slept very well. The only mistake I made was not taking a small traveling pillow.
It is big when rolled up, so have a good look at the dimensions and make sure you can carry it. I took it on a motorcycle trip, even though it took up a lot of space, it was totally worth it.
It seems very well made and the large valve helps with inflation and deflation.
