I wanted to buy one travel kit for my central Europe trip this Summer, rather than buying things individually. Happy with this one, there’s a very comprehensive book which comes with it with general holiday motoring info, and a handy guide by country. There’s also a 10 discount voucher for the AA breakdown service. Reasonable price, good selection – Highly recommended.

I bought this kit to travel down to Lower Normandy in France.
The kit ticked all the boxes that were required by French law when travelling by car.
It was neat and compact and although it was not needed (except the UK sticker and light dimmers). There was peace of mind knowing it was there if needed.

The pack pretty much does what it says on the tin but the image clearly shows a UK sticker, whereas the box that turned up actually has a GB sticker. Annoying, not worth sending it back for that, but I’ve had to order a UK sticker separately.

Great value for money kit but only issue is that the kit still includes the GB sticker and not the UK sticker shown in the advertising images – not suitable for our trip to France in a couple weeks. Other than this the kits is great.

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersLet’s be honest here: most people buy one of these kits to comply with the regulations rather than because they think they need one. I did too.

This kit is more comprehensive than AA’s France-specific kit as it has a bulb kit, a first-aid kit and the AA European Drivers Handbook. While most of the other items have limited use in the UK, the bulbs and the first-aid kit are both something you should keep in your car anyway and so they seem like a worthwhile addition. As far as I know, it is not a legal requirement in the UK to carry a warning triangle but many cars have them anyway.

What’s missing, though, is the NF approved breathalysers. However, these can be purchased separately for a few pounds.

The kit comes in a handy and compact but not terribly high quality pouch. Mine had a slightly broken zipper which I was able to fix.

The beam converters have a high-quality adhesive and are easy to apply on a wide variety of headlights. The GB plate is magnetic which is particularly handy for rental cars; if your numberplate has a GB logo, you won’t need it.

So far everything has held up fine. I have no reason to believe they would break in use but if they did, I’d be quite happy to buy another kit. These are emergency items and, to be perfectly frank, I’m not too worried about their durability.

Even if you’re only driving in France, I recommend skipping the AA France kit and buying this and a disposable, approved breathalyser or two. The extra accessories make this a useful kit to keep in your car, even when driving in the UK.
