Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this cream for my husband it is not greasy on the skin and it keeps the skin nice and soft and ladies could wear there makeup on top of it and the tube is a good size and good value for money and it was recommended to a friend by a dermatologis

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI purchased this as I had read about it and I have redness, i was very pleased it has great coverage you only need a little and it was green when out of tube but looked like foundation on face it certainly hid the redness and lasted a whole work shift 8 hours

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent value sunscreen with superior UVA and UVB protection. It is easily absorbed with no white cast, does not stain my clothes or bag, and does not irritate the sensitive dry skin of my face. Much better than other chemical sunscreens, it does not seem to cause breakouts.

I wish the instructions for reapplication and water resistance were more specific. The packaging can dispense too much product and is not really recyclable. I have not used it while swimming.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’ve got quite a sensitive/ reactive skin and eyes that normally tear up or sting whenever I use chemical sunscreen around them. For quite a while I’ve been using mineral sunscreens, either for the whole face or around my eyes while covering the rest of my face with a chemical one (as they tend to be cheaper and don’t leave a white cast). I liked the Altruist body sunscreen and decided to give this one a go. Tried it around my eyes expecting I’d have to wash it away, but to my pleasant surprise I didn’t have to. It’s perfect texture, not too greasy, not too light, and looks good under make up. I’ll definitely buy it agai

I bought this sunscreen for the first time in 2021. Until then I was finding it hard to find sunscreen for my pale, sensitive/combination prone to eczema skin(not severe), which also works well with my skincare routine and makeup ( I do not wear heavy makeup though, mainly BB cream, highlighter etc).

Since I tried Altruist SPF, I never looked back. I do not have any reactions, it adds a healthy glow to my skin, and it works beautifully with my skincare and my makeup. This sunscreen is the reason WHY I started using sunscreen every day.

This sunscreen ticks all the boxes for me: 1) works well with my sensitive skin; 2) Works well with my skincare; 3) works well with my makeup; 4) is Affordable; 5) Contributes to a good cause.

I read an article in the magazine my plastic surgeon issues each month about sunscreens in the US vs. Europe. The US is about 20 years behind in sunscreen protection ingredients. I purchased a tube of this sunscreen and love it so much that I bought 3 more tubes! I will never stop using this sunscreen. The price is great too!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m a redhead so I need to wear spf daily no matter the weather or time of year. I liked that these came in a pack of two tubes as this will last me ages. It’s a very moist moisturising product which my dry skin appreciates. It does have a white cast that needs to be rubbed in, this could put those with darker complexions off a little I suspect. However the broad spectrum protection is what matters to me most and this product delivers.

Altruist sunscreen was a fantastic find. It is a lovely soft cream and a treat to apply. I use it on my face and never worry about sunburn or damage. It’s just like wearing another moisturiser. And it’s one product I really wouldn’t be without, as I have a rather visceral dislike for sunscreens that are unnaturally smelly, sticky and stingy.

I have to use factor 50 everyday due to medication. I have sensitive skin but this cream is wonderful, I use it under my makeup and the rest of my exposed areas, it is as good as a moisturiser. I have been using it every day since April and really pleased with the product and would highly recommend it. I love the fact that when I buy it I’m helping a children’s charity too.

Purchased this for my son who usually suffers with prickly heat and he got through the whole 2 weeks without an episode (and washing with plain soap in the evenings rather than fragranced shower gel!) winner!

Why use anything else. Developed specifically to provide affordable access to sun screen, what more reason do you need to buy it. Have used for a number of years and never burn. Thank you Dr Birnie.

Don’t usually write reviews, but this day cream is amazing. Bf even saw a difference in my skin. Didn’t need to put foundation on. Pretty impressive on 44 yr old skin. It’s a must have ladies

Great for covering and calming rosacea prone skin. I use it as foundation for non make-up days and it gives great coverage. Does need to be re-applied often in hot weather though, to maintain coverage and protection. Also not water resistant so I apply Altruist factor 30 before exercising.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA good sunscreen. It does it’s job and what it’s suppose to, but be careful if you have sensitive eyes as mine goes a little runny and ichy sometimes when using it.

Have worn this skiing, in central Africa, and now Southeast Asia. Never lets me down. Only downside is it turns any white clothing yellow.and I’m not sure if it’s reef safe.

This is an amazing product as it gives full protection but is not sticky or tacky and your hair doesn’t stick to your face unlike with other high factor sunscreens! You can put make up over it easily. It doesn’t leave a white mask effect either. Highly recommend.

This cream is truly amazing, I have red patches under my eyes , after applying for first time, the red patches are barely visible, I would totally recommend this cream it does exactly what it says, you can wear on its own or as a base for ur foundation, the cover is phenomenal, I luv i

Much lighter than other SPFs, goes on easily and great for the kids who generally hate sun cream as it’s less sticky. I like the lack of scent as am sick of that commercial sun cream smell.
    Highly recommended.

This product is exactly what I was looking for. First photo without makeup second using this product as a primer and then applying foundation-what a difference! My only slight gripe is that it only comes in one shade and I’ll have to mix it with a lighter bb cream in the winter months as it’ll be a bit dark.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really covers redness!

Consultant Dermatologist at the hospital told me about Altruist. So light, you can wear it under make up. Absorbs brilliantly, not sticky or greasy. I buy this again and again. Don’t buy any other type of sun scream now. Love the charitable aspect to this bust also. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

This is great stuff. The only facial sunscreen I’ve found that works both as sunscreen and a decent moisturiser. I am prone to very sensitive skin that over reacts to a lot of things, almost like rosacea, this is only sunscreen that doesn’t make it worse and actually helps soothe during a flare up. I bought the moisturiser as well and it’s also fantastic.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI am not sure if this really helps hydrate my face hut what I notice was it was too greasy on my face, maybe it’s my skin type really but I finished the whole tube. I apply powder on top of it when I was using it.

We knew Dr Andy Birnie at university and are delighted to discover he has made this brilliant suncream. We would definitely recommend it as a family. We would like to suggest a name change though to Anti-burny by Andy Birnie which we like to call it in out house.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was recommended this by my Dermatologist at the hospital. I have sun damage to my arms and legs from not wearing sun cream when younger and have to visit dermatology yearly for treatment. I started using in May this year and the protection is obvious. Usually with Factor 50 my arms flare up in sun but not with this cream. It’s not a cure but certainly helps. I can’t see me ever using anything else.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am using topical medication for melasma and must use sunscreen everyday all day. This sunscreen works best if applied in pea-sized amounts and ensuring you wait for the first layer to dry otherwise it will pill badly. It also tends to cast white. Will probably not buy again once these two tubes run out.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI cannot even tell you how many sun creams I’ve been through for my two year old son. It’s almost embarrassing. I had a clear out the other day and there must of been 8 or 9 different bottles just in one cupboard.

Firstly my son has multiple allergies and eczema so has very sensitive skin. Then there’s the fact most sun creams leave horrible yellow stains over clothes when creams come into contact with clothing. Then and the worst for me is the sticky texture of sun cream. I have some sensory issues myself and applying a cream that leaves my hands super sticky, or if I then touch my son and feeling his sticky skin was just really unnerving for me.

This sun cream was recommended by someone on a Facebook group I’m on for my sons allergies and I honestly cannot rate it enough!! Developed by a dermatologist so you know it’s made of the good stuff, rubs in until you cannot feel it at ALL, causes no irritation of his skin and doesn’t stain my little ones clothes?! Absolute game changer.

Also doesn’t not contain any type of nut oil which some do.

Not to mention you get two bottles and they are nicely sized to fit in the side of my toddlers back pack rather than a big bulky bottle.

Fab item, recommend to everyone I know.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI was recommended Altruist by a friend last year, after asking if anyone could recommend a good high factor sunscreen that wasn’t sticky and I could use like a body lotion. I looked it up and was impressed by its credentials and that it donated money to children with albinism in Africa, but what also impressed me was the low price point for such a high quality SPF. We’ve now been using it for a year and I wouldn’t buy another brand – I honestly do not see why you would when this is SO good and ticks all the necessary boxes. It is fragrance free which I actually prefer now I’m in my 40s (doesn’t attract any insects!) but understand some people might like their SPF to smell of ‘holidays’.
I’ve even started using their face wash and other products as I’ve been so impressed with the SPF and would recommend those too.
Formulated by dermatologists and at such a great price point it really is a no brainer. It’s not at all sticky, it’s just like a body lotion.
My dad has just been given the all clear after being diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of skin cancer. He now uses Altruist every day without fail.
Don’t hesitate to buy this, you really have nothing to lose, it’s a fantastic product.

I found this sun cream very good for soothing sensitive skin that had already been exposed to too much sun.
The factor 50 also seems to be working very well. A thickish cream that still soaks in quite quickly.

A friend recommended Altruist a couple of years ago as my daughter’s reacted to most suncreams that we’ve tried in the past. We tried both the 30 & 50 & I can’t fault either. They both apply well, offer great protection, they’re a good price & my daughter hasn’t reacted to them. I’ve recommended Altruist to family & friends & they’ve been happy too. It’s taken a long time to find a suncream like Altruist that works for the whole family & we’ll be sticking with it. I’d highly recommend giving it a try!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’m not one to review items unless I’m pretty sure I’ve tried and tested it. I first bought Altruist from Amazon a few months ago as I was searching for a sunscreen that didn’t inflame my eczema ( I’m a life long sufferer). My first impression was good, most notably that it didn’t irritate my skin or my eyes. So I repurchased it, but hadn’t tested its effectiveness in strong sunlight. I’ve just returned from a week in Greece and this product is fantastic! No skin irritation, no stinging eyes and no sunburn! Result! I felt confident in the sunshine and I cannot stress how pleasing that is. Eczema sufferers will know that what works for one may not work for all, but I suggest you give this a try. The fact that it’s so reasonable priced means you’ve got nothing to lose.

I am very happy with this dermatology tested suncream factor 50 . I bought this last year for the first time and again for this summer . It suits my sensitive skin ,paying special attention to my neck and chest skin . I like also that this company supports a charity and gives a little back .

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt goes on thick, a little goes a long way. I have very sensitive skin and also have a lot of melasma on my face and chest. With this cream, it hasn’t gotten any worse at all and has saved me from burning. I use on my face, neck, decollitage and shoulders. No blocked pores, a really really good cream.
I’m going to set it up as a subscribe during the summer months.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBought for sensitive child’s skin -allergic to chemical mainstream sun creams and ‘sensitive’ ranges. Sadly reacted immediately to this also so i have 2 further tubes to add to the collection for own use. Have to stick with Green People for 9 yr old and see if Sunsense is tolerated in the new formula. I like it it rubs in easily and doesn’t leave sticky or white.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis sunscreen came on holiday with me to Spain. It goes on beautifully, is not oily and gives full protection. It was recommended to me by a local dermatologist for its UVA 5 star level, which I wanted to prevent any more aging of my skin.

I have reordered more, have given tubes to my extended family and showed it to my work colleagues.
It’s also amazing value for money!

I like the easy application and the way it tints my skin so that I don’t have to use make-up. It doesn’t seem to block my pores as other high factor sun screens do and therefore my skin is more comfortable.

I first purchased this product around 5 yrs ago, honestly my lotion of choice, don’t burn, feel protected, well priced. Whilst it is fragrance free, it does not deter, it’s not about the frills, the branding, the aroma – it’s about does it do what it says? Yes it does!

I thought I had been sent the wrong size tubes but on checking they were correct. Two lovely big 200ml tubes for 10.55. Goes on very easily, non sticky, no fragrance. Reasurring write up on the ingredients and what the product does. Really great value for money. I will use this sunscreen from now on.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersAs I’m out in the sun all day everyday with my job I’m always looking for a really good sunscreen that protects my skin but isn’t sticky. Now I’ve found it. This sunscreen goes on like moisturizer and doesn’t leave any sticky residue on the top of my skin, or leave me with a white shiny face. And after using it for a few days I’ve found that I’m not coming home with any redness at all from being out in the sun all day, which I have found with other sunscreens
that I’ve tried, no matter how many times I reapply. I’m so happy I found this product, great price and great skin protection.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI have been using this sunscreen for over a year now having previously read a review, and I must say, I think it’s fantastic! I like the fact that it isn’t sticky or greasy and find having sunscreen in a tube makes for an easy application. The tube is the perfect size to carry with you all the time, fitting easily into a handbag. It gives me great confidence knowing that it has been developed by Consultant Dermatologist and Skin Cancer Surgeon Dr. Andrew Burnie, who I assume to be very knowledgeable in the field of sun protection; I also like the fact that Altruist supports children’s charities that help children with albinism in Tanzania and the rest of Africa where most die from skin cancer by early adulthood. All round, a jolly good find!

I first tried this on top of my usual skin care and it’s bobbled up and rolled around my face, I mentioned this to a friend and she asked if i had used skin food underneath which i had! Used again the next day with a different moisturiser and it worked beautifully

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is a very effective, broad-spectrum sunscreen that offers great sun protection for hours. The product does leave a very faint white cast, as it contains titanium dioxide, but this is very easily blended with a bit of effort.

It also absorbs beautifully, leaving the skin hydrated (but not greasy – making it one of the more cosmetically elegant sunscreens I’ve used), is fragrance free and doesn’t irritate the skin. All in all, a very well formulated sunscreen at very reasonable price, which has become a staple in my skincare regimen.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAnswering as a lazy male who never did skincare and has just hit 31.

I like this cream as it is moisturising and easy to apply. I feel that it is smooth and I apply it after using CeraVe moisturising cleanser in the morning. I’d recommend a top up if you’re out and about in the sun but for daily use once in the morning and once more in the afternoon seems great.

Before you go to bed use a cleanser again to get rid of this and maybe apply a light PM moisturiser before bed. You don’t want this on your face as you sleep.

Also, don’t touch your face and then rub your eyes – end up crying for a good 15mins lol
