Amazon Basics Ratchet Strap – Pack of 4

Step 1: Connect

Fasten the S hooks, located on either end of each strap, to anchor points on both sides of your vehicle or trailer. Then, insert the polyester strap into the spindle slot, and pull the strap through, up, and back to take up any slack.

Step 2: Tighten

Securely tighten the tie-down strap by repeatedly pressing down and pulling up on the ratchet handle. The user-friendly ratchet handle makes it quick and easy to tighten the strap, automatically locking it into place.

Step 3: Release

With minimal effort required, release the tie-down strap by pulling back on the quick-release bar and holding. Pull the handle up and over to the open flat position. This gives the strap slack and allows for easy removal or adjusting.

Step 4: Remove

Pull the strap up to loosen, and then slip the strap out of the ratchet. One end remains securely attached to the ratchet, and the loose strap can be wrapped around the ratchet for compact storage when not in use.

    Classic ratchet straps.
They re working as designed. Surely the design could be improved to ease the use but again, this is a classic design and it does the job.
Only CON for us is the colour which is not that nice – a dark colour would be better to avoid stains that will form over time as it gets exposed to whatever dirt.

I bought these to replace some older straps which were past their best. I like the hook on them. It makes it alot easier to tighten when you need them smaller.
I’ve used them to transport goods in a trailer, and to help pull down some hedges in my garden. It’s done them all without any complaints.
Try to avoid nipping your skin though, they hurt alot. And practice doing and undoing some of the ratchet mechanisms before you use them on something because knowing how to undo them quickly is useful (that’s from experience)!

They arrived on time and are as described but the rubber handles were not fitted properly and pulled off the first time I used them soon fixed though, I find them very hard to undo but that could just be me.

I had to go to You Tube to undersatnd as the instructions did not tell me the pitfalls. Can only be put together by feeding strap in one direction and only takes small amount in ratchet, so have to adjust amount of possible feed

HOWEVER IT WORKS VERY WELL FOR WIND SAIL ON PATIO

I used these as a cheap alternative to a slack line (for tightrope walking). Even though it’s thinner than expected and watching the hooks move when they are under load is a bit scary they seem to hold up well and didn’t bend at all (even under and adults weight). The ratchets work well but are a little hard to slacken off but the plastic protector saved me a few times so is a great addition! They are well priced for light to medium load use and seem to have good stitching and reasonable quality so should last for a good amount of use.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our Userspurchased these to hold a tarpaulin over my deck and pergola . I was really fed up having to put the cushions away every night in case of rain. I have tried tying the canopy down with bungees but I could never get it tight enough to keep the rain off and stop it pooling in the slack canopy. these are perfect pulling the tarp extremely tight making the canopy like a drum . I just wish I had thought of this solution years ago . I have not used them to strap stuff onto trailers or any thing like that but I can assure you if you have a good anchor point you can get these straps to hold extremely tightly a very good system . would I buy them again I don’t think I will have to the fabric of the straps are made of high quality woven nylon , and the metal parts are coated to prevent rust they should last for quite some time.

A good, standard batch of ratchet straps. Not too keen on the ‘Amazon Basics’ branding, and they may be a struggle to figure out how to thread and operate if you’ve never used ratchet straps before, but they did the job of holding the contents of my van in place and seem super sturdy. They were even tied around some items with the excess length after being strapped and it held firm and undid easily for removal, so I consider that a bonus. The hooks are ever so slightly starting to gape, but they should last a long while yet. A good number of straps for the price, as I’ve only used the one so far.
