I’m so happy this re-edition of the original Tamagotchi is the real deal! Nothing changed, I instantly remembered my way around even though more than 20 years have gone by.
It’s perfect for the nostalgic crowd, because I really don’t think an actual child would see the point or find entertainment in this little treasure.
90s electronic pet revival
My daughter absolutely loves this pet, and it keeps her entertained for days on end. Great for the holidays, not so great when they go to school and you have to keep it alive! Lots of fun ams easy to use. She loved that you can choose your case cover and as your pet grows in age , it morphs.
My child had been asking me for it for a while so we surprised him when he finished the academic year and he was over the moon. It is as described but I find it hard to see the screen clearly.
It’s an original tamagotchi exactly how you remember it.
I think it’s so awesome of Bandai to re-released the original tamagotchi and have so many designs to choose from.
It really takes me back to the 2000s when products had many color and design options to fit your own personal style.
I really miss that period of design history.
I really love the moon and shooting stars design definitely my favourite and fits my style, I’m very happy I chose this one.
I would love if Bandai would re-release the tamagotchi connect as that’s the one I grew up with and I’d love to have multiple to connect with each other but I suppose we will have to wait and see.
Overall this is a really cool piece of history and I’m so happy to see it still get some love over 20 years late
5.0 out of 5 stars Nostalgia
Throw back to when I was I kid, what’s more to say.
5.0 out of 5 stars Brings back childhood memories
Great quality, exactly how described. Cute design! Comes with battery & works perfectly!
mine didn’t last very long RIP but he gave meaning to my life definitely recommend
It is very good 👍 In perfect shape
5.0 out of 5 stars Very good
Bought this for my sister she loves it. Would buy again if I wanted 🙂
5.0 out of 5 stars Got it for my daughte
Got for my daughter easy to work out without instructions. My loves i
Good throwback
The design is cute and looks as described. It came in original packaging and turned on without problems. The manual is available in many languages to help you set it up. Keep in mind, though, this is a remake of the original tamagotchi and not the wide-spread Tamagotchi Connection that so many of us remember. It only comes with one mini-game (higher or lower) so it can get pretty boring pretty quick. I recommend getting this as a casual game to keep on your keychain or to play with on-and-off during the day rather than a serious gaming device.
5.0 out of 5 stars I'm so happy!
Instructions are very clear. I’m very happy with my new son and I’m glad I now have something to remind me to drink water. Perfect, love him.
The device is small and compact, making it easy to carry around and play with on the go. The digital screen is clear and easy to see, and the buttons are responsive and easy to use. The overall design of the toy is adorable and captures the essence of the Mimichi character.
The gameplay of the Tamagotchi is simple yet entertaining. The user is tasked with caring for the virtual pet by feeding it, playing with it, and cleaning up after it. The pet’s happiness and health are directly impacted by the user’s actions, making it a fun and interactive experience which hasn’t changed for decades!
Sadly the remakes all have a minor flaw, its a lottery if the print quality is actually good or not though it doesn’t detract from the overall enjoyment!
A great little toy
Bought as a gift for my daughter who is 6 she absolutely loves it, I was worried it would be time consuming and a constant presence but we have found it quite the opposite it lets you know when it requires attention which isn’t that often and you can turn off the back light which mimics sleep so it’s not waking the house up in the middle of the night. My 6 year old needed a bit of guidance on using but is managing quite well. A fun little toy.
Memories!
In the 21st century people now get low-battery anxiety, this all stems from the tamagotchi!
When that alarm goes off, I can only assume it’s the same level of panic. The number of apologies I’ve had to give in meetings as I’m tasked with keeping this thing alive whilst my daughter is at school.
I’m yet to experience the guilt of it dying whilst in my care but I can only assume it’s the same as a puppy passing away.
Buy with caution parents! Never take on the responsibility!
Bought one each for my 10 & 8 year old for Christmas. By the 27th my 8yo had neglected his and doesn’t want to reset it and my 10yo can’t wait for his to die! They are very similar to the ones from the 90s but unfortunately not fun for my modern children. The game and food doesn’t change as the pet gets older which is a bit disappointing as I seem to remember getting more options the longer you kept it alive when I had one as a child. The product itself is great but a bit lost on the newer generation sadly.
4.0 out of 5 stars Early delivery
This turned up early which was incredible! I brought 2 for my niece and nephew and they absolutely love them!
My son loves rhis
My son really loves this and takes it everywhere with him. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the chain on it after a few weeks of using comes undone quite a lot so we have attached it to a lanyard. Over all love it, battery last ages and simple to use.
I remember as a teenager having a Tamagotchi, it was really the ‘IT’ thing at that point and I had so much fun taking care of my pet, even sneaking it to school!
So it does take me back now purchasing this one for my 7 year old daughter.
They haven’t really changed from how I remember them- the size, style, graphics, etc are all really retro in that they seem the exact same!
To some this may be disappointing, especially if you’re into high tech, top of the range graphics, etc but for me I really like it, as my daughter is able to play with something in the same way that I used to do, and she loves it too!
You need to ensure to feed it, clean its poop up, give it medicine, etc and allow it to sleep.
My daughters hatched as a duck, which is really cute!
The battery life so far has lasted really well and if it’s anything like the one I owned years prior then it will last ages!
It’s good value for money and a really nice retro gift for a loved one.
The delivery was also much quicker than initially expected, so that’s a huge plus.
I ordered this for my daughters birthday and it did not disappoint! It was slightly tricky for her to get used to the controls and we had to refer to the manual a few times but now it seems second nature for her. It keeps her entertained for hours….which means I get some well deserved rest too!!
A lovely bit of nostalgia
I had surgery and was limited in the activities I could do after recovery so I was looking for armchair hobbies or activities. Besides, tv, crafts and reading I wanted something to keep myself entertained. This is perfect. Reminds me of my youth and is fun to keep the little thing alive and cared for through out the days.
This was bought for my children (ages 11 and 7). I had wanted them to try them out, after having one myself as a kid.
It was easy to use for both of them and the different styles catered to both my daughter and my son.
However, there seemed to be a fault with one of them ( I had purchased 2). The ‘pet’ kept needing to be reset.
Aside from that, fab little blast from the past that kept the kiddies entertained and gave them a sense of responsibility too!
Good value
I got this as an alternative pet for my special needs 6 year old,
She loves it but unfortunately get frustrated when one of the buttons sticks
Apart from that it’s just like the original
Needy
My daughter loves it bought as a birthday gift. Easy to use and navigate the screen pressing the buttons. It takes 5 minutes to hatch. It is quite needy and beeps when it needs something which feels like every five minutes. It also does a poo and the kids find this hilarious, a steaming poo on the screen which you have to clean up. Battery is good and it’s still alive. There is a reset button on the back as well. Daughter loves it, I hope the battery dies soon and she doesn’t ask me to replace it.
What a burst of nostalgia this Tamagotchi was in our house! It seems pretty faithful to the original, the screen is non-backlit and hard to see unless you get the angle just right, the resolution is low with large pixels. It feels solid. When you first pull the tab from the battery to turn it on we found the sounds were really shrill and unpleasant (just like the original). You can mute the sounds by pressing and holding the left button and pressing the right button whilst holding the left one and selecting off. The creature is very high maintenance for the first couple of hours of play time, hatching through infancy, and then the demands ease off so it’s worth getting through it. So be clear, with my critical sounding comments in mind, this faithful Tamagotchi reissue is no masterpiece of user experience, but it’s 100% pure gold nostalgia and very worthwhile for a play through.
Just right!
My daughter asked for one for her 6th birthday, and she loves it! It is a great nostalgic toy for me to ‘babysit’ while she is at school too!
Super simple, and even goes to bed at night so it doesn’t disturb sleep!
Only complaint would be that theres no backlight on the screen, but being a 90s kid, it doesn’t bother me, just my daughter!
This is honestly the best thing that I have ever bought. After seeing it on this thing my friend sent me I bought it on Amazon and it is honestly the best thing that I have ever bought. All of the qualities are amazing and honestly the display is really good.
Pros:
Really fun
Adorable animation
Easy to get the hang of
Teaches you responsibilities
Can pause
The beeping can turn of
Grows up as you play with it
Only takes 6 minuets tops to get up and running
Cons:
Quite expensive
Needy
Slightly dark display
Has nightmares so wakes you up in the night
All in all more pros than cons and honestly, some of the things that I mentioned I only read on the internet. The dark display is honestly not as bad as some people are making out and I cannot take my eyes away. In fact, the slightly dark display hasn’t go any artificial light so can’t harm your eyes to bad.
I have now been playing for 1 hour and 17 minutes
I remember the Tamagotchi craze so it is nice to see a re release of this popular virtual pet.
It is a fairly simple but fun operation and there are basic things that you need to do in order to keep your pet alive – clean up poop, feed, play with, discipline and medicate as necessary. The Tamagotchi alerts you with a sound if it needs your attention.
I like all the different egg designs, particularly this one as it is reminiscent of original designs. I got the generation 1- some are ‘Gen 1’ and some are ‘Gen 2.’ There are only very slight differences; the Gen 1 is supposedly Male and the Gen 2 are female, the egg is slightly different and the characters too. The game is guessing if the Tamagotchi will turn left or right on the Gen 1, whilst it a number game on the Gen 1. I believe that if the Tamagotchi dies, the Gen 1 has an angel appear whilst Gen 2 has a Spaceship as the final image.
I have found that the sound and screen are both ok and the actual egg is quite a good size.
Lots of fun! I would recommend : )
