These courses are really useful for anyone looking to learn from the masters, at a budget price. You could never access Peter Jones for 80 in reality, but these courses make it possible. The platform is user-friendly and the format and delivery for learning should make this easily accessible for anyone.

Overall, a great course to use in addition to other more formal business studies – recommended.

I’m a slow learner, so I’m taking my time with this. But is really is very simple – you get an envelope with the gift card in (such a groovy design of sliding out both sides), and then follow the web address and make a note of your code and you’re in!
You create an account, add your code, and you can choose one of many courses to complete online.
Theres so much to choose from, so I’m really glad I chose Peter Jones, Toolkit for Business Success.
    Its so good!
40 lessons over 3.5 hours – nothing is too tricky and theres a lot of food for thought.
    I’m very impressed.

This online business course from Peter Jones of Dragon’s Den fame is inspiring and motivating, with lots of advice and tips from Peter and other business people. It’s more an introduction to the concepts than a toolkit but it serves a valuable purpose of being encouraging whilst also realistic.

I am in the process of setting up a new business and was really interested to learn more around business start-up and development from one of the leading business entrepreneurs. For me, I have several books but never really got around to reading this, but this bitesize learning programme by the BBC Maestro course looked interesting so I thought I would give this a go.
First off, purchasing the course was extremely easy and simple. You need to set up a BBC account if you don’t already have one, and provider either credit card details or alternatively a voucher code if you were gifted with one of these. This then enables you to access from any device through the browser your course. The site manages and keeps track of your development so you can simply and easily carry on from where you left off at a later date.
This programme with Peter Jones, really hit the mark for me. The programme is neatly structured into short easy to follow (and even just listen too) videos that talk you through from vision and idea, into implementation and business development/expansion. Peter talks through in each section, some of the core principles or skills to being an entrepreneur and then interviews existing entrepreneurs to gain their unique insight and experiences for how they went about starting up their companies. Examples include the founder of Reggae Reggae sauce. With each section you build upon your knowledge of how to take your idea and business forward.
The lessons also come with a downloadable booklet which is structured in exactly the same way as the video course content so you can go straight to the section you are currently working through very quickly.
Overall, this has given me some great insights for my own business ideas and looking forward to taking these forward!

This is a voucher for the BBC Maestro courses.
These are courses from experts and leaders in their field.

The voucher you get allows you to pick any course from a selection – lots of cooking and writing, but other subjects such as Peter Jones’ industry and dog training (for example).

I really like the selection of courses, this would make a great present for someone who likes this sort of thing. You wouldn’t need to worry about exactly which course to give them they can choose.

The course itself was interesting and engaging. It was of about average length (many vary betwen 3-4 hours long). I did enjoy the course and it gave me some pointers and food for thought (although I can’t say it’s transformed my life!)

Overally a good product. It makes an excellent gift.
If you’re not buying as a gift, the price point (80) is a little problematic – there are plenty of comprehensive courses on the internet that are comparable and at a lower price point – such as Udemy.

Also, there are many YouTube channels which offer free courses in many of these subjects, so I would not be so sure this is worth it if you are buying for yourself.

This is a good idea for a gift for someone as it comes in the form of a gift card. I wanted to have an experts insight into business management. The course is primarily aimed at developing a business plan, pitching your idea, raising capital, and putting together a marketing plan. It is a good interesting and motivational course for those interested in business strategies.
It is easy to set up and use but I would have liked more than just a card as I think its quite expensive, it would have been nice if it had come with some bumph such as a extra CD or booklet with more information about the course so it would be like a whole set rather than just a card.

This course from BBC Maestro is called “Toolkit for business success” by Peter Jones. It is online course with 40 short couple minutes long lessons that altogether are 3,5 hours long. Including in this course you gets notes.
Course coming in form of gift card, which basically is just postcard with code in orange envelope. I was a bit disappointed by how its looks. I was expecting more like a book with some notes or bullet points about this course. Also over 3 hours course for 80 it is way too expensive. I learn some new and interesting things but you could easily get most of this knowledge for free from podcasts and youtube videos.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good course but very expensive

Peter Jones is one of the ‘serial investors’ who appears on TV’s Dragons’ Den. As he’s been involved in a diverse range of businesses over the past 40 years, he’s well qualified to give would-be entrepreneurs the benefit of his vast commercial experience.

BBC Maestro features online courses across a span of interests. ‘Let the greatest be your teacher’ is the principle behind all of them. Personally I’d rather listen to the dulcet tones of Marco Pierre White on ‘Delicious Food Cooked Simply’ or Jancis Robinson’s ‘An Understanding of Wine’ – but you get the idea. Experts in their field are called upon to give you the lowdown on a specific subject in bite sized chunks.

Anyone with an interest in building a business from the initial idea through to sales and marketing could gain an insider’s understanding of what may be involved via this course. But whether you’re buying this for yourself or as a gift for a budding entrepreneur, do be aware that there’s just 3.5 hours of online course content – along with online course notes which underline the points made and would be useful to refer to afterwards. And indeed at any future juncture if you’d like a refresher on a particular subject area.

Call me old fashioned but all you get here is a gift card with details of how to activate it. I’d much prefer – especially if I were intending to gift this online course – to also receive an accompanying book or even booklet summarising the course content.

In this increasingly virtual world I suspect this wouldn’t be a universal concern but if nothing else it would make older gifters feel they were giving something a bit more substantial than a card allowing access to online content. It may also help some purchasers to feel happier about the rather steep 80 asking price at time of writing.

That said, the course is good, informative and – as you’d expect – well presented. It manages to convey a good idea of the ups and the downs entrepreneurs may face – so don’t worry if you’re a parent or grandparent who’s concerned that only a rose-tinted vision of being in business is displayed here. It’s balanced – but without destroying the drive and ambition that’s key to all businesses in acting as a springboard to success.

Overall I like this course – and the whole concept behind BBC Maestro. But it is just a little too expensive at its present price which is a pity as the courses are unlikely to receive the exposure they deserve.

This voucher actually applies to all courses so if you’re gifted it, bear that in mind.

I really like BBC’s Maestro platform and the format (which works across a range of devices) is easy to follow, informative, constructive and promotes activity well for a fixed/distance learning course.

It’s too expensive, but it’s often on offer so keep an eye out.

    BBC Maestro Online Video Course
I want to get the issue of pricing out of the way since it is meant to be a gift voucher, and we all know we only give gifts to people we want to please, so the price is just suitable if the recipient is someone who already has everything.
You won’t be embarrassed with this gift card. It’s presented neatly and has clear instructions, which gives access to a course of your choice on the site—the man delivering the lessons talks directly and professionally. What I like about the videos is that I could listen to them while cooking or cleaning. Editable online pdf course notes are provided, which is very useful for people who prefer reading or note-taking. Sometimes, material things are not enough anymore. We need to encourage each other to grow, so gifts like this are a very good idea.

This arrives as a very nicely designed gift card which is inside a bright orange envelope with BBC Maestro printed on the front.
The envelope measures approx 16cm x just under 11.5cm x a couple of mm.

On the back of the envelope there is a barcode sticker with the name of the course you have picked.

I’d pop this in a small gift bag wrapped in tissue if you want it to be a surprise.

Inside, is the card which says Unlock your passion on it.
It has 2 thumb indents cut out of the sides.
You pull one (or both) & both the sides slide out.
It’s a very nice design & makes the gift card seem more ‘special’.
You really do feel like you are getting a treat.
On one side of both pop outs you’ll see photos taken from various courses, on the other side you have your code which you redeem on the website & then choose which course you want.

I am absolutely the target market for these sorts of courses.
I had actually seen the Maestro courses last year & had bookmarked a couple because I currently subscribe to Masterclass & there is only so much learning I can fit in a year.
This is very similar in the way the classes are formatted, but you buy an individual course from Maestro, then have it available forever (rather than having access to all courses on the platform but only for as long as you are subscribed like Masterclass.)

This gift card is not locked to one course, so you don’t have to pick the one listed on the back as you have redeemed the option for any ONE course.
There are about 14 in total available at present, but more are listed as coming soon (no idea how soon)

You don’t need to worry that the recipient won’t like the one you’ve picked or already has it because they can just pick a different one – you get the option to pick any of them once you have registered & redeemed your voucher.

You need to make a free account on the BBC Maestro website.
I have not received any junk mail from them since registering.
When you log into it, you will find your courses are listed together (if you have more than one)

    The courses are wonderful.
Each one comes with video lessons (different for each course) & a full colour editable pdf.
The pdf is editable so I can add my notes directly into a copy of the pdf which I really like – it means I can store my own thoughts alongside the lessons.

The content is well structured & presented.
I like to sit down during a coffee break & just play one video as they tend to be about 15 minutes long so my brain gets some new food in my break too.

You could finish the course in a day, or just do one lesson a year as there is no deadline & no work to submit (but of course also no feedback) this is purely independent self study.
Some classes have exercises for you to do but as you are only accountable to yourself, they are optional.

I couldn’t find anywhere else that you can buy these physical gift cards for Maestro courses; so as far as I know you need to buy them from Amazon.

The course & the content are top quality.
It is just up to you to decide if you feel the content is worth the cost.
I’m on the fence about that.
I have worked through a Maestro class that in retrospect I felt was worth the cost, but also one which I didn’t.
You can only guess until you’ve done it.
They are all written for the layman, so are very accessible without being too dumbed down.

This is a great way if you are in the early stage of planning a business to ensure you are thinking about the right pathway towards success. There’s a lot of basic that are covered, but lets face it, he’s a pretty inspirational guy and its a good idea to give it a go as at worst, it will confirm you’ve followed the right path and are on the right track to success, what’s more likely, is that you will pick up on something you can run with to expand and improve on your original idea.

Possibly a bit expensive for what it is, but it is well produced and the content doesn’t feel cheap and pointless, so if you are in the right mindset to self improve, this WILL assist.

This comes as a physical gift card which has a code which you can redeem online on the BBC Maestro website. It was easy to do and don’t worry it’s not all reading, you have access to a ton of videos to watch. I just wish for this money you could access the other courses available as there is a song writing one on there by Gary Barlow, but it is limited to this course only.

So the good thing is the content, its headed by Peter Jones who was part of BBC Dragon’s Den who knows his stuff. You get hours’ worth of content in his toolkit which has everything you need including downloadable documents like templates.

I have watched a few hours and navigated the site which was easy and well laid out. It is very inspiring. There are 40 lessons, but you can jump straight to the area you need for instance if you want to find out about tips for pitching your ideas then you can. It gives some great examples of marketing as well and starts basic so ideal for beginners who simply have an idea that they want to build into something more successful.

I had an issue with the website when I used edge browser, but it worked fine with googles chrome.

If you are wanting to start up a business and need some ideas of how then this is a great start. Its’ always great to give as a gift.

I have nearly finished the 3 and half hour course and so far it’s been so so helpful.
I love the casual way he captured my attention.
He shares a lot of personal stories and talks to some business people who share their own advice and journey.
The information on the course is very useful.

I think the main thing it is doing for me is passion and motivation.
It’s also giving me an idea of some things that I need to think about and other things I need to avoid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect so so helpful

I got this BBC Maestro online video course for myself since I am interested in the tool kit for business success course for me to gain more knowledge about proper management and its structure.

Peter Jones, the maker and mentor of this course is a Star of BBC’s Dragons Den and an investor in 100 businesses. The course is all about developing a business plan, gathering ideas, raising capital and making a winning marketing plan. It is packed with exercises, templates, tips and hours of content that will definitely give you more knowledge about business.

This was delivered in a physical card since this is intended to be a gift. You have to enter the code inside the gift card by simply going to the BBC Maestro’s official website and that’s it. You can now watch the videos on your phone, tablet or laptop as long as you have an internet connection.

To be honest, I am quite disappointed since I get to choose ONLY ONE course for me to learn given its price point. I mean, come on. Online courses are one of the best choices to learn nowadays, but if you like to learn more, YouTube, Udemy and other FREE learning platforms are your best option. Learnings are free there and there are lots of tutorials, webinars and training to choose from. To be fair, I choose the tool kit for business success and the overall structure of the course is interesting and informative enough for me to learn. But still, we don’t rely on one course only as learning doesn’t stop there.

Would I recommend this? Well, yes if you really want to gift this to someone. Maybe I was just a little sad about it being so limited. Nonetheless, the course that I chose is good and the mentor did a great job.
