Very good
I have a seven month old Labrador puppy, and because she has a double thick coat, she looses her hair most of the time. I have used items like this before, and they work great. It looks well made, and does the job, would recommend to biu
I have a white greyhound who seems to sheds all the year round, i have bought lots of different brushes but this is excellent and removed a lot of fur and she didn’t bother at all.
Best deshedding tool on the marke
Don’t normally do reviews but this is so good I had to share we have a French bulldog and he is losing his winter coat giving him a brush with this is amazing the hair that comes off I’ve tried so many other brushes and this is by far the best defo recommend
I should have bought this along time ago. It is perfect for getting the under coat from my Border Collie, lots of fur and so easy on the dogs coat. Again what a fantastic buy.
Best deshedding brush EVER!!!!
I recommend this comb to anyone and everyone who has a dog or cat that needs de shedding. I’ve owned dogs for over twenty years, bought expensive combs and brushes from pet stores, vets etc. this comb gets deep down into the coat to remove the fluffy hair underneath the coat too. I recommend brushing outside as this will get so much fur off.
Great produc
I bought this comb for cat. she’s very fluffy and as the weather is getting warmer she’s malting more, this comb has been AMAZING for getting the fur off before it begins to malt round the house
Great for short haired dogs
I have a very short, course haired staffy and a longer, softer haired staffy x and this worked fab on both dogs. Using the comb at a slight angle definitely works better. And my older staff found it very relaxing.
Amazing!
I’ve tried a lot of de-shedding tools for my short haired dog, none of them worked. But this product worked! Amazing results from just the first brush. Definitely recommend this produc
This has been a life saver!
Some of the other brushes I’ve tried really don’t collect much hair but this one, wow, the amount that comes off is nuts.
He loves it too (when he’s in the mood of course!), some gentle grooming helps remove that loose layer that gets all over you furniture/bedding!
I would highly recommend this one for any pet owners!
Very effective tool
Its deshedding comb is wider than most of the others I tried and ended up returning. This one doesn’t require so many strokes and with a nervous cat, that’s a real help.
Have a very nervous collie who is usually terrified whenever she sees me carrying something (she was mistreated by her previous owner), but she comes straight over and shows her belly when she sees me carrying this. Excellent at removing her (seemingly constantly shedding) hair, untangles without pulling, and it gives her a nice massage as well. It was a bit smaller than I expected, but I’d definitely recommend.
Brilliant product – my kitten is quite short haired so normal animal brushes don’t work on his hair – this works perfectly, it’s easy to clean and it’s smart. My cat is small though so I wish I could buy a smaller length blade for it so I could get the top of his head and his paws etc and into his nooks and crannies easier. 4.5/5 just because I could do with a smaller one. You can remove the comb, so I wish I could buy a smaller blade to replace it. Going to be using it all of the time whilst he’s moulting everywhere! My kitty (photo) is happy being combed with it.
I started on my short haired cat and it worked brilliantly so thought it would work even better on my medium thick coated cat, not the case. You need to get down to the skin for it to work properly and you can feel and hear the difference when you do which shows with the amount that comes out with a good contact to skin stroke. With my thick medium cat it was a lot more difficult it has to be done in small sections (about palm size) over and over maybe 15+ times so if you know your cat won’t tolerate that don’t buy (I’ve added pictures of said cats to help anyone who wondering if this will work on their cats, tuxedo is the thicker medium fur)
Professional job
This comb is the best I’ve ever had . My dog has short hair (cane corso) They really comb all his under fluff ,top hairs ,therefore less to sweep up .hurrah
Great!
Rexommend for heavy duty brush! It really helps. My dog is very sensitive and hates being brushed so it makes the job more efficient and faster because it really works
Ideal for malting dogs
We used this on our cocker spaniel who is prone to malting. It definitely got rid of some of her loose undercoat on her back. Good for thick parts of the coat but less effective around thinner parts of her coat.
Brilliant produc
This comb is excellent we have a large collie cross he looks like a different boy now !! I was so impressed I bought a second one for my friend, her opinion is the same.
De-shedding for dogs
I have a Labrador and this tool brings her coat up lovely by getting rid of loose hair. My dog also likes it and does not try and get away.
Impressed, does the job
Works really well on our German Shepard King. He malts a massive amount of hair and this does the job perfectly. We purcheytwo of these as we figured out it works on the carpet and picks up so much dog hair we didn’t know was hidden even after hoovering up.
Ok, so. The product does work… but works a little TOO well. My shorthair ginger cat has always had a really nice fluffy undercoat which unfortunately does shed a lot. So I thought this brush will do the trick.
It did. It takes a few strokes with the brush to start seeing the fluff come out, but once it does, it doesn’t stop! The cat was loving it. I was just in shock and awe of how much was coming out… And before I knew it, I could see skin. My cat really didn’t care about this development, but as a consequence, I now have a fluffy cat with a thin hair patch. I hope it’ll grow back before winter comes…
My cat has more recently been shedding a lot of hair & the current grooming tools that I had just weren’t up to the job so I purchased this de-shedder & it’s been amazing. The amount of hair that I was able to get off him was incredible & it has really made a difference to his shedding.
Easy to use
What a great little gadget! So easy to use and really gets to the under fur. My dog loves it too, gets over excited when she sees it! Best comb I have found, and I have bought many! Good handle grip, good comb, solid tool that is value for money.
It really works!
I read the reviews with a slightly doubtful-about-the-ravings attitude! But.. 5 stars from me!
It’s great! It works! It really takes lots and lots of loose bottom coat out and I might buy a second one to make sure we’ve always got one in the house!
Always brushing our labradoodle flat coat to make sure shedding is at a minimum. But this rake is a game changer. Rake and brush now and we hardly get hair in the house.
Just get one!
A good brush/comb
My chihuahua moults like crazy. I thought I was getting most of his loose hair out with the fur removing glove I used but this gets right to his under coat. And it literally came out fully loading the brush. I’m sure he feels more comfortable.
Easy to clip together. Didn’t fall apart on first use which was my main worry with items like this. Feels sturdy. Dog was unsure about it at first but after a few brushes she was OK. I would say test the comb on your hand before the dog to see how much pressure your comf with using. The tool is lightweight but the metal comb part itself isn’t sharp but does have some weight to it. I think at first I was using too much pressure as she kept nipping me but after a few tries on me then her we figured out a decent pressure that was comfortable for her. As you can see from the picture it does remove the excess fur but slowly. Not an issue if your dog is calm whilst being brushed. I’d advise doing the brushes with breaks or maby once in the morning and once before bed as it can get boring for the dog and start to ache your arm/wrist.
It also got some of my goldendoodles tiny lugs out that her other brushes couldn’t so that’s an added bonus.
Would recommend this item and will buy again in future if needed
Purr-Fect!
I bought this product on the 8th of December 2018 and it gets the job done! My Zowie has an attitude to match her orange fur. She’s feisty, savvy, and if she doesn’t want to do something, she won’t do it. There are no negotiations, no compromises. It’s her way or no way and this for anything, especially being groomed.
She’s a short hair little moggy with thick and fuzzy fur that gets incredibly matty at times, particularly in humid weather. Her winter coat also sheds like you wouldn’t believe and with her fur being so thick and quite coarse, grooming and getting those tats out isn’t on her list of top ten things to do with her day. So I’d have to chase her around the house, lock us both in the bathroom and wear gardening gloves while I went to work. In short? It was a to-do!
I follow lots of big cat rescue centres on social media, so Big Cat Rescue, Wildcat Sanctuary, Turpentine Creek, and all the other accredited places. These places often rescue cats and kittens, too! And it was on Big Cat Rescue’s Kitten Cabana video that I heard about the Fur-Minator and they praised that thing to the skies. So off I came here to find the Fur-Minator and found quite a smallish brush for 15, with the larger brush I needed for 30. That’s asking far too much for a moggy cat brush and then I saw Thunderpaws version.
It was bigger than the Fur-Minator and for a much better asking price, too, and so I ran with Thunderpaws. Oh, my giddy aunt! Not only did it work, but Zowie didn’t run away. No! I laid in bed with her, a little bag on the bedside cabinet, and Zowie let me groom and groom until all the tats and shed were gone.
The item itself is very well built that it doesn’t feel cheap and tacky, and the bristles don’t bend or allow any snagging on her fur. It’s very comfortable to hold, which is a good thing as Zowie now has me there for a good hour. The comb itself is short and so it fills up very quickly, but this is also a good thing as I can slip off the fur and pop it into the bag, ready to put out for birds to use as bedding. It’s also easy to keep clean as you simply dip the comb in hot soapy water and wipe over with a cloth.
Unfortunately, Thunderpaws isn’t as good for my cat Twiggy. Her fur is cloud soft and silky smooth, so it’s very fine and flyaway. There’s no counter-weight to Twig’s fur at all and grooming just sends it all over the show! I use a rubber brush for her, yet even that isn’t the greatest and I have to dampen her fur, which just makes Twiggy less than happy and her fur sticky!
Thunderpaws is far better value than the Fur-Minator. No point in paying more when you can get the same thing for half the price. I’m only buying a second one because the first one is still in a box somewhere as I have yet to unpack 😀
Good job, Thunderpaws!
After my second Pug died of old age a few years ago I vowed I’d never have another Pug, because of their shedding. But when I was invited to re-home a 2 years old boy, six weeks ago, I couldn’t say no. I already have a bald 5 years old Staffy girl (she has Colour Dilution Alopecia) so dog hairs hadn’t been a problem – but I had forgotten that Pugs shed 367 (!!) days a year – not to mention the seasonal moults, when they shed bucket loads of hair for weeks at a time. Realising I have this to look forward to for the next 12 years a de-shedder became a ‘must have’.
My sister has a brilliant de-shedder for her Bedlington/Whippet cross, with a push-button which ‘ejects’ the hair – but that brand was no longer available, so I chose this tool rather than one of the others because the reviews seemed better. I wish I’d read the 1* reviews though – as two out of the four mention Pugs, in particular.
I wondered how on earth the 4″ blade, with its tiny short teeth, could possibly de-shed a large hairy dog. But, attracted by the headline “Best Professional De-shedding Tool”, I deduced that this de-shedder should be perfect for de-shedding a small Pug. Although it does remove what looks like a lot of hair it only seems to pick up in the middle of the ‘comb’. I think this is due to the body shape of a small dog – they probably need a slightly curved de-shedder! Also, the ‘teeth’ do not appear to go right down to the skin – where the loose hairs tend to lie flat on a Pug’s skin. Even after a good grooming I still get smothered in hair whenever the pesky Pug comes near me, and I see it fall like snow when he shakes himself. My rugs and doormats are covered in Pug hair despite using the de-shedder daily.
This looked like, and is, a solid, sturdy tool but I’m a bit disappointed by its performance. I think it could just be that it’s not suited to a Pug but, without buying and trying lots of different brands, it would be difficult to compare this de-shedder against others. I suspect they are all probably much of a muchness!
Please note: To my surprise, two months after after submitting my review, the seller very kindly refunded the cost of the de-shedder, and allowed me to keep it. It is not the fault of the tool that it works better on medium to large dogs (it’s fine on my sister’s dog) – it is just that a Pug has a different type of coat from most dogs.
