Reasonably quiet and fast amachine that can shred hundreds of pages in one session without overheating. The shredding is also very high security, overkill probably but the other specifications of the machine make it well worth it.

The thing I like is this runs for longer than any other shredder I have had. Most run for about 30 seconds then stop and take about 30 mins to ‘cool down’ before they will work again. This one runs for about 20 minutes and cuts really small. I am very happy with this product.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a great little shredder for home use. Even though the bin is quite small, it can still shred a lot of paper before having to empty it – the cross-cutting makes the volume of shredded paper very compact.

It can take 8 sheets at a time apparently – I’ve tried it with 4 or 5 and it does slow down a bit when handling that number but it still does it properly. I haven’t pushed my luck by trying the maximum of 8 sheets though.

I’ve also shredded an expired bank card and it did that easily.

The shredder component itself is quite heavy (~4kg) which gives an indication its robustness.

It’s certainly more solidly made than one I had from the most well-known brand, which died after shredding only a few sheets of paper.

Overall, I’m very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it wholeheartedly for home use.

This is a simple unit to use. Well made it does not feel flimsy. There is a slight tendency to jam at one end of the shredder but if regularly checked before the bin gets too full it is easy to unjam. I would recommend with good quality paper you limit the input to 4 sheets. the shredder can easily cope with that. An ideal unit for domestic or small office use.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe beauty of this shredder is you can shred 5 sheets at once so long as you let it stop before putting more sheets in and will go for 30 minutes before over heating the rest i looked at gave 10 minutes max before overheating the

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI bought this to shred several years worth of documents and bills and receipts. Good points are: 1. Good build quality. 2. The noise level when shredding isn’t that bad. 3. It really will shred for half an hour without demanding a cool-off period. 4. As far as I can tell the “switch” that turns on the motor to do the shredding is an optical switch and not a mechanical one – this is good because on previous shredders I have owned it’s always that mechanical switch that breaks and leaves you with a useless pile of junk. 5. It is advertised as maintenance free and therefore does not require lubrication – so far, with three days of use I can confirm that. It does, however, at times sound like a wheezing asthmatic running a marathon.

And now the bad points – there are no bad points as far as I can tell other than the stated number of sheets of paper that can be shredded at the some time. The version I bought says you can shred 8 sheets of paper at one. No, you really can’t. Can you shred four sheets of paper at once? Well … not really. If you try the motor really does struggle. So I confined myself to shredding two or three sheets of paper at once and then the motor doesn’t even sound loaded, and it certainly didn’t sound like it was ever struggling. If, however, you have really thin paper to shred (think supermarket till receipts), then yes, it can shred these when folded up into four or eight thicknesses of paper. You may also find that occasionally the slot through which paper is fed will get jammed with paper debris. If this does happen you will be able to see that the paper slot is blocked because you will not be able to see the rotors. You may also find that when you feed in a sheet of paper that the feed only wants to accept paper on either the right side or the left side of the paper feed. I had this happen once. If it does happen you need to disconnect the shredder from the mains supply, get a thin bladed knife and push the paper blockage downwards where the rotors can grab it when you turn the shredder back on. This can be really fiddly and frustrating.

Summary – a very good piece of kit that I am thoroughly happy with.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersHappy overall Well made and reasonable value. Only quibble is the 8 sheets claim. If you put more than 4 sheets in at a time it really struggles and if you put 8 it would give up within a few seconds and jam. This seems a problem with all home shredders (reality is less than claimed) so if you really want to shred more than 4 pages at a time buy the next model up – it probably won’t shred as many as it claims but you may get 8 pages! In short: stick to 4 pages or less at a time and you wont have any problem..

Very pleased with this, having waited for a price drop. 25 min run time before a cool down is required. Soooo much better than other similar models. Quiet cross cut running and an optical autorun sensor (not a microswitch) and alleged no oiling needed. What’s not to like?

This might seem expensive for a “basic” lift-off top style shredder but it’s absolutely worth the money. Shredding ability is brilliant and doesn’t leave left over paper bits stuck in the blades. Happy to recommend

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’d been thinking about replacing my old shredder for something new and more modern with a bit more power. There are so many to choose from and to be honest the number of negative reviews was really putting me off. I only need one for the occasional home use but wanted one with a bit more guts than my previous model plus I’d decided on a cross cut one as my old one just shredded into strips. I went for this one as it seemed to have better reviews than the others I’d looked at and also seemed reasonably priced. It arrived yesterday and I wasn’t disappointed. Bigger than I thought and with quite a weight to it, it feels very substantial and well made. I like the grey colour too. The collection chamber seems adequate for my needs and even though it’s not whisper quiet in operation it is certainly quieter than my old one. I’m hoping it lasts me a good few years. I’m sure it will.

For me, this was the only product which, for a sensible price, lasted a long time without cutting out and could shred a sufficient of sheets at once. The only downside is that if paper gets stuck on the cutter, then it can be so difficult to clear. Would buy again.

After buying and returning cheaper machines I decided on this one. It actually does what they claim it should do. Cross cuts without jamming every few minutes. Very pleased with the purchase.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSo I had a fellowes cross cut shredder which lasted 9-10 years which is good but it often needed unjamming, plus it needed oiling. It could also not run for too long due to overheating. When you were cutting a4 sheets the paper would bunch up so you often had to shake the basket so that it made space at the top. So I saw this and it intrigued me that it’s oil free, you can get a 3 year warranty if you register the shredder online, plus it’s German made. So far I can say that it is quieter, don’t expect silence. It cuts cleaner, so I don’t need to unjam, or shake the basket. I like that I don’t need to oil it. The only negative is that the provided power cable doesn’t connect well on mine so its easy to disconnect it, but if you don’t move the shredder then it doesn’t happen. You’re mileage may vary as mine had this minor issue. We’ll see if it lasts longer than my previous one but so far I’m happy with the mechanics, no issues so far, and would recommend it.

Just the right size, shape and performance for home office use. The light grey colour case makes it less obtrusive. The controls are clearly laid out. It also has a forward and reverse control, which has come it handy. Generates small shredded pieces that are not readable. I’ve shredded about 1000 pages over the last couple of months with no problems.

An excellent, good looking shredder – performs efficiently and reasonably quietly.
My only minor complaint is that, when triggered, it starts but doesn’t always “grab” the paper immediately and often needs an initial push to feed it.

December 2022: Since using for almost a year, have found it, though reliable, not really as powerful as claimed (I refrain from EVER trying to shred more than 4 A4 sheets at a time) and it does annoyingly spread lots of paper dust into the atmosphere.

I am very pleased with this machine but the box the machine stands on I found very flimsy and the machine could have done with a handle to hold to set it down on the box.

My only criticism is the mechanism sits on top of the container for the waste and when lifted off can result in some shreds off the rollers falling to the floor otherwise it works well . Some have complained it’s noisy but what do you expec

Quite good. Did a sterling job on my large archive destruction.
Only drawback is that at the beginning it seemed to churn out a goo like vaseline….then later jammed sometimes….. but I did ask a lot of it.
Could have done with a larger waste bin. Makes sneezy dust….wear a mask!

I have a personal policy of ‘Buy British’ whenever possible. If not, I buy products from our nearest neighbours. I bought this shredder because I thought it was made in Germany but when it arrived, it was labelled ‘Made in China’. It is as described, efficient, solid and does what it says o the box.

This is robust, cuts very quickly and efficiently and is much better than previous shredders I’ve owned. But the description says ‘whisper quiet’ which is not accurate, and I’ve found that if A4 is fed in, the shredder blades get jammed with bits of paper at either end and I’ve had to poke around a couple of times to unblock it. Now I tear the 4 sheets in half and feed them through the centre of the slot and have had no further issues, it just takes a little longer.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis little shredder works extremely well. Treat it with care and it should last for a long time. It fits into a small space and is quiet. I only feed two sheets at a time and it will fill up before the warning light comes on. It doesn’t take long to cool down. Papers are shredded effectively and the rollers do not become jammed. This is the best personal shredder I have bought so far. I don’t use it a lot and would not recommend it for large amounts of shredding but for home use, I think it is perfect. It seems to create a little bit of dust but if it does the job, I can put up with that.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersMy Alba shredder from Argos finally died after a number of years. I’d always been frustrated by the limited run time (3mins).

In need of a new shredder I was set on buying a Fellowes machine. To get the higher capacity and run time the prices seemed crazy.

I eventually stumbled upon this Dahle, which is supposed to be a good make. It arrived today and I have to say I’m pleased. No, it’s not whisper quiet but it’s definitely quieter than the Alba. Seems powerful and pretty fast. I shredded over 100 sheets a lot quicker than before, simply because it can keep going for up to 20 minutes without a break.

70 seems a lot for something that shreds paper but given the specs, I’m happy.
