    This machine works well with a dozen stapled sheets of paper. It feeds well even with slightly curled paper and the bin has a good storage capacity. This unit eats the paper very well, eats credit cards as well. The safety features are also fantastic. If I touch the metal around the opening, the unit stops immediately. When you shredding paper green light means you are shredding within capacity, yellow light means approaching capacity, red light means you have exceeded the shred capacity and the bin is too full, it also stops.

    Surprisingly powerful – not going to lie, this is a BIG machine but if you have an office or business where lots of documents have to be destroyed efficiently to where the words on the paper would be obliterated, this is the machine for you. It cross cuts and destroys your documents into tiny pieces of fine confetti that it would take a savant fifty years to assemble.

    Also possibly this may be the quietest shredder I’ve ever Encountered, most I’ve owned are uncomfortably loud, but this pleasantly quiet by comparison, even when tackling several sheets at once! It made shredding my tons of letters and documents pleasant and not as tedious.

    Was supplied with liners for the compartment to which your document confetti will end up in, they really thought of everything for this beauty. Definitely a must have for offices and businesses where printouts need destroyed and data has to be protected.

    Office style shredder.

    I was sent this in return for my honest opinion on it.

    I found this hard to decide on whether to give it a 3* or a 4*. Whilst it definitely has it’s benefits and it’s quite versatile, I still think it’s overpriced.

    This is a huge shredder, it’s roughly 43cm x 28cm x 60cm. It’s quite a nice design, it looks and feels well made. The whole shredder is on wheels, making it quite easy to move around.

    You have two power supplies provided, one a UK plug and one a European plug, both of them are around 160cm long. So they’re a decent length and they are durable cables.

    This shredder has a massive bin collection area. It can run continuously for a good amount of time. It has a good few features to help optimise it’s best abilities, I guess. The shredder can be versatile in the sense of, it can shred multiple different types of items, like paper, plastic (credit cards etc, which could potentially be quite useful depending on your office type). Also staples, paper clips, and more. The bin can also go into sleep mode if it’s left on and untouched for more than 2 minutes.

    There is a control panel on top, this let’s you know everything that’s going on. These are –
    * Run time indicator, this will turn red when the shredder needs to cool down, which is quite clever, so it won’t burn itself out.
    * Safesense technology (hands touching bin etc)
    * Reverse
    * Forward
    * Bin open
    * Bin full
    * Efficiency meter. Shows clear coloured signals to use the shredder.

    You do get 3 bin liners supplied. These are ok, I simple placed it in the bin with the edges folded over the top, as I wasn’t sure how it was actually supposed to go in. This worked ok, I don’t feel like it stays in place well enough. Sometimes this bin liner effects you closing the door correctly too. The whole shredder bin itself, can be removed for if you don’t have a bin liner within.

    The shredder does work quite well. As you can hear in the video, it’s not the quietest but it does the job. Even thick chunks of paper went through nicely. The pieces are cut up into small enough pieces. When you open the door and close it again, sometimes I’ve had to re-shut it, to get the red light to go off, which is a bit disappointing.

    Whilst I would absolutely recommend it for it’s design, it’s efficiency, versatility, durability and ease of use, I still believe it’s overpriced. I thought around the 200 mark, maybe there is something I’m missing. Either way, it is a decent shredder.

    4.0 out of 5 stars It's versatile and durable.

    Impressed with how many sheets of paper this can take at once and you don’t have to remove the staples before shredding. It’s quite a big piece of kit but really handy if you ah e a lot of paperwork to get rid of.

    Followes shredder- powershred LX220 mini cut shredder. Next generation shredding offers unmatched productivity and 100% jam proof performance,intellibar responsive technology provides in use feedback that maximises shredding performance preventing interruption by indicating when bin and sheet capacity is nearing the limit or the run time is close to being reached . Safesense technology offers peace of mind in the home environments and sleep mode powers down the shredder after periods of inactivity. Well that covers most of the gen ,and what a lot there is . What I thought was it arrived fast really well packed so no damage, the performance is absolutely brilliant mini cut for security jam proof ,stops if your hands touch the paper opening really quiet as well so won’t disturb anyone, good for home or office use, I could go on and on but I’d better stop I’ll just say if like myself you thought a shredder was a shredder then buy this one and be proven wrong ,as its definitely the Rolls Royce of shredders

    5.0 out of 5 stars Rolls Royce of shredders

    had this about 3 years now, and wanted to say its been very reliable, and fairly quiet. it also can shred some cardboard as well. Not cheap but does what it says on the box, plus it a crosscut so more secure than the standard strip shredder.
    definitely recommend i

    I purchased this from Amazon Warehouse.

    Firstly: fantastic machine and does what it says on the tin. It’s much quieter than the cheaper shredders. However it is worth noting that the shredded bits appear to be fairly large for a home office machine.

    Secondly: Amazons warehouse descriptions are questionable at best.

    Packaging aside – great machine and does the job it was bought fo

    This shredder is quiet compared to my previous model. Safety feature handy with little children around – it just will not start if you put your fingers anywhere near the paper opening. Pleased with this.

    his is fantastic shredder .. have owned cheap one before that got tired quickly … this just keeps going and eating everything .
    its worth paying the extra for the capacity and efficiency of this machine … 4 black bags of shredding – no problem for this machine very impressed

    It is a lot more quiet than our previous shredder which we had had for many years. It does take a lot more sheets at a time and does not jam. Great product and good value.

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was the victim of identity fraud a few years ago and it was an absoloute nightmare to try and sort out, I wouldn’t wish that experience on my worst enemy. Ever since I’ve been a bit paranoid about anything going in the bin that has even a hint of our details. I shred pretty much everything that can fit in a shredder and have gone thorough quite a lot of them because of my over zealous shredding.

    Some have been better than others but I wanted one that had the crosscut function, just to make extra sure that nothing escaped the blades. This jam-proof cross-cut shredded has done everything it promised and now all our documents and paperwork go into the bin as confetti. It’s so brilliant!

    This is the first one we’ve had that can handle CD’s and credit cards so that’s been a novelty feeding old cd’s into it to see what happened to them. It’s amazing, it goes through them as if they were paper.

    It’s maybe not the cheapest shredder I’ve had but it’s certainly one of the best. It’s well made, sturdy and heavy duty. Can’t fault it. I keep ours by the front door and any junk mail goes straight into it, along with any address labels from packages etc. I can’t imagine being without it now.

    Highly recommend.

    Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is working well, I am in a small office and it is a good size and has wheels on so can be moved. Hope it lasts a long time as some in the past have been a disappointment.

    Bin size is adequate even when shredding piles of docs its not too bad as the emptying is very easy
    Does tend to overheat when shredding a lot f docs and requires a 2 minute break every 1-200 pages. But gives time to empty the bin 🙂

    So far so good. Very pleased with the shredder so far. I have had many shredders at around the 100.00 mark and they have lasted no time at all. This one seems stronger and is working brilliantly at the moment. Nothing but praise, lets hope it continues.

    Quite the best shredder I’ve ever had and I only wish I’d known of the product before purchasing other, imferior ones! It comfortably deals with envelopes, card, sheets of paper and all the other daily accumulation which otherwise fill the bin in a home office. The Safe sense technology works well when fingers go anywhere near where they shouldn’t, and it only overheated once when I admit I shredded a vast quantitiy of paper in one go. The red light came on, it stopped and then cooled down exactly as the instruction book said it would before turning itself on again. The secret to lomg use appears to be to use the oil supplied separately on the shredding blades every time the bin is full. And as a bonus the shredded material makes outstanding bedding for small mammals!

    Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersOur previous cross cut shredder was a Swordfish 2000XCD (supposedly able to take 15 sheets a time) which only lasted a couple of years – even though it only had low use apart from once a quarter when we would shred the equivalent of 3 or 4 reams. Although we made sure the cutters were regularly lubricated, in the end it wouldn’t take more than 2 sheets at a time and would overheat pretty quickly. Trying to gain access to the cutters/motor was unsuccessful, and it did not seem possible to contact the manufacturer for servicing. Oh, and within a few months of purchase, one of the caster wheels mounting snapped in the main body – looking closely, it is poor design as the mounting has little in the way of support.

    Looking around, as seeing other reviews, the Fellowes 99Ci looked like it would be a good replacement – and so it has proved.

    It is a cross cut shredder, which unlike strip shredders chops the paper horizontally as well as vertically. As well as being more secure, it also allows for much more waste to fill each bag before having to replace it.

    Although this is a review about the Fellowes 99Ci I have written about the Swordfish as this enables me to make a comparison. So, here is what I have found:

    – It is a well made piece of kit, and does not feel cheap and plasticy. Also, the mounts for the caster wheels are well supported internally!
    – It has a “strain gauge” which shows if the machine is being stressed with too much paper (though the lights could be brighter – they are a bit dim in normal office lighting)
    – It does take up to 17 sheets at a time
    – It will run for at least 30 minutes continuous before needing to have cooling down time.
    – And very importantly, it is QUIET
    – Lastly, comes with a starter pack of shredder bags (shredders are dusty!) plus a small bottle of shredder oil

    So, if you run a small office which needs to dispose of sensitive/confidential paper records this will do all that you need. Highly recommended.

    Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersHave used this or 3 months now. For a medium sized shredder its excellent. Easy to use. Safe. relatively few jams and quiet. I would like a bigger bin for the waste but its a fair balance between being compact and holding enough

    Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersWe purchased this product following the sad demise of our long-serving Fellowes shredder and were looking for something equally as reliable.

    This model has proven to be the perfect replacement and, so far, we cannot find fault with it. Much quieter than its predecessor, easier to empty (& a whole lot less messy too!), with superb safety features and a more sleek appearance.

    Just one thought – it comes with a small plastic tray to hold the oil/spare bags and the manual appears to show this somehow attaching to the shredder. Unfortunately, we cannot fathom where this is supposed to go. No matter though, as we have no need for it anyway.

    Top Quality! We would not hesitate in recommending this product.
