    great customer service
I bought this in Feb 23 and found it to be much better than the dremel I had been using. Unfortunately a fault developed in June 23, I contacted the seller through Amazon and there was no quibble, no return hassle just a brand new replacement. Brilliant service

    Important Speed Adjustme
When you switch it on it’s set to maximum speed, so please turn the speed adjustment to slow before you switch it on. There are some arbor band mandrels that are undersize so the smaller bands are too loose and can’t be used. Otherwise good piece of kit.

    It's ok
For the price, you get quite a lot. However, I do find that when it hits a certain speed, the attachments come loose and come out. The cutting blades are pretty much useless and snap easily. Very much a budget tool. Probably best to invest in a more expensive variatio

    Railway modelling
A nice easy to use multi-tool. My only criticism on the whole package was the size of tge cutting discs supplied. Trying to get a straight downward cut was difficult when the body of the machine got in the way. Shame as everything else was spot on.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersUseful tool for small fiddlely jobs.
Mainly used for cutting and grinding small metal components, tool is lightweight and easy to use however tool gets quite hot to hold if used for prolonged periods also the cutting discs provided are pretty poor quality and tend to splinter easily, Dremmel ones are better..

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Users4.0 out of 5 stars Good little tool. Comes with good kit.
My only problem so far it the cutting discs for glass etc. Very brittle and brake easily. You need to be very gentle with a steady hand. 1 sideways twitch and they shatter. (No injuries). But all in all a good wee tool for value for money.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersIt works just fine . . . bu
My first go at using a tool like this and from my inexperienced point of view I find it ‘bitty’ and probably should have purchased something a little more robust or just researched things I could have attached to my drill – that’s the reason for a 4. For all those craftspeople out there who are into polishing stones or metal or making things and can specifically use this type of tool, I think this Hi-Spec tool is very good value, pretty good quality and seems sturdy – so in terms of value it’s a good buy – so if I was a craftsperson I would give it a 4 as some of the attachments such as the sanding discs are bitty and too flexible and slide around too much.

I used it to grind into a fibreglass section of a boat where there was limited manoeuvring room and it did the job. Too much pressure, too fast or too tight the disc will shatter but after a few goes I learned how to use it – a craftsperson would probably already know this so if that’s not you I don’t recommend it – find a drill bit attachment instead.

The summary is: a good quality tool for the money; some of the attachments not the greatest; buy it if you are looking specifically for a tool like this

4.0 out of 5 stars Its 170W - Identical to VonHaus in Autoexpress 'best rotary multi tool' review
This is identical to the VonHaus tool in the Auto Express 2021 Rotary tool test, same factory line but branded differently, not VonHaus. Same accessories, same motor same tool, just different colour plastic moulding. The VonHaus was stated in performance to equal the Winner – but as it had no case didnt win – but as below, I wanted one without a case so ths was perfect – good as the winner, but no case.
Having said that, I was a little surprised that it was same performce as test winner – the accessorieies are not dremel quality, but adequate. It also looses some speed under load – it has a 170W motor (according to manufcaturer), not 160W Amazon state, so that was a surprise, as my old B&D 90W one didnt loose speed really.
I bought it because it was identical to the VonHaus but in stock and cheaper, and because it did NOT come with a case as I had the case still from my B&D one that died that I didnt want to just throw away (accessories are in the pictured small, cheap plastic box tool and that is just inside a plain brown card box).
    Lead is a good length.
Lots of accessories – not sure what half are for TBH – this was to replace my old B&D one that died years ago, so I had it just in case.
If your not able to afford the top of the range Dremel (low range Dremel are pointless), and dont need a case, or were wanting the VonHaus 170w which is out of stock everywhere, this is a good bet for occassional hobbiest use I would say.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersCould this be better than Dremal? It's a close call
Firstly, for the price, you absolutely can’t go wrong. Straight out the box, this is a great tool, really fits nicely in the hand and is light and easy to use.
Fitting the attachments is extremely easy using the small spanner provided and it’s also worth noting the Dremal sets fit this as well as do most universal tool sets.
The tool itself has a nice long lead, variable speed and a simply on off switch. It’s not hugely loud, but I would still recommend ear defenders and some eye protection when using.
Looking through the tool set, you are not going to get a lot for your money as most of your spend is on the tool itself, so it’s worth getting a second tool set. The reason I say this is because although the included tool set is good, it’s very cheaply made. An example would be the brush wheel, bits were flying off all over the place and it also didn’t last very long at all. I’ve gone ahead and contacted the company in the UK just to be sure it wasn’t something I was doing, but it’s worth keeping this in mind.
Overall, I can’t fault the tool itself, it does a very good job and the variable speed is a bonus.
Is it better than Dremal, you know what, I think it is and for the money you won’t be disappointed. Extremely good value for money!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGreat but needs better instructions for crafters etc
Lovely and quiet, solid, doesn’t vibrate too much. Nice tool. However it’s pointless having all the accessories without information about what bit does what. Have looked at the user manual, videos and website but no helpful information there. Although I did get an idea on how to use one of the accessories and what the spanner was for.
Also, it’s very fiddly. Bought it to scrape the paint from crevices in a dresser. When I finally guessed at what bit to use and how, I discovered that the sanding discs wear out after a few seconds. There are some black discs too, but no idea what they are for, and they snap in half when I put them on. They only lasted a few seconds too. Each time they wear out, you have to remove a microscopic screw, put a new disk in, and then start again. There was a wire type brush with it, I used it for a few seconds and then found the wood was going black. It turned out that the brush metal bristles had all worn off in a few seconds, and I had sharp bits in my clothes.
There is no information on how far the spindle for the accessories have to go into the device, that is trial and error – which is dangerous because you end up with the metal accessories shooting off. If this is to be considered as a craft tool. the instructions need to be much clearer and a list included of the type of bit and what it can be used for. Needless to say, most of the paint is still in the crevices.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA Great bit of kit for the money.
I bought the Hispec rotary tool after trying the Tacklife one that was faulty.
The Advert shows the tool as hispec but mine says Apollo on it and Hi Spec on the box.
As you will know this tool does not come with a Case, but comes with a selection of bits.
The tool feels good to hold with some weight to it, its a good bit of kit (I like it)
Since picking this 170w Apollo up, I bought the Dremel 4000.
The thread on the two are not the same where the nut type thing that hold the Collet in place.
The Dremel one is a few mill smaller, but I tried the Dremel flexy drive on it and it works just fine.
The Bigger threaded PART IS ABOUT THE SAME ON BOTH DEVICES, So are interchangeable.
The Dremel comes with a screw on bit with a square in it, to mount the inner part of the drive.
With the Apollo I just but the square drive into the collet and nipped it up, it work fine.
I am not sure how well it would do under heavy load, as there is a possibility of it slipping.
To be fair for me it works just fine, I have no Complaints at all.
    Well worth the money….

Golden Review Award: 33 From Our UsersUnbeatable Value for Money
I have 4 Dremel machine’s for cutting, shaping and engraving, stainless steel and when I managed to wear out yet another Dremel machine, I thought, let’s give this Hi-Spec170watt (same power as the Dremel 4000’s that I use) a try. Costing approximately 1/3rd what I normally pay for a Dremel 400 kit it has to be worth a shot I thought.

Although for that money you don’t get a case or cloth bag as with the Dremel 4000 kit. Neither do you get a flexible drive. No biggy in either event as I have several of those already.
First impressions – obviously there’s going to be some cost savings and there is. It’s not the same quality of finish and upon 1st use it’s obvious that a) the motor isn’t quite as good, running it up to around 20% power/speed and loading it a little sees the speed drop noticably more than would my Dremel. That said, add a little more throttle and problem solved. It did the job I needed without problem. The bit holder/chuck and the diamond bit ran true. b) The machine is just a little bit noisier, but considering I always were ear plugs that isn’t going to affect me.
Supplied tools and accessories – everything looks servicable and will be tested over the next week or two.
In summary – ‘bang for bucks’ this looks likely to be a very useful addition to my engraving power tool set.

Golden Review Award: 114 From Our UsersNot bad for the price
I brought one of these to replace a well-used Draper multi-tool, which was quite literately starting to fall to bits and an faulty Aldi version, which the store it was brought from refused to replace.

There appear to be several brands selling very similar looking tools and I suspect they are all made in the same factory. This was one of the cheapest and it was interesting to see where the cost cuttings had been made.

First off you *don’t* get a carry case. Supplied instead is a cardboard box with the tool, a case of accessories (as pictured) and a zip-lock bag containing what is essentially a brief safety leaflet. The tool itself is middling; it lacks torque but makes up for that with rotational speed. No additional brushes are provided although there are ports to access them. I suspect replacements won’t be that hard to find.

Centering is about right, given the price and I had no problem making some fairly accurate cuts in thin solid aluminum tubing. One thing that annoyed me slightly though was the use of collets to hold the accessories. Three of differing size are provided although I would have much preferred a drill-style chuck. The largest of them is needed for the majority of the accessories but I found it was a tight fit. It’s made of brass so no doubt will loosen a little with use.

As for the accessories, these are cheap but I found the sanding drums of a higher than expected quality. The cut off discs on the other hand are *not* reinforced and are shockingly thin. I lost two in short order, once when trying to get the holder with disc mounted into the tight collet and another doing the reverse. On the other hand when used properly they were surprisingly effective and as previously mentioned made short work of the aluminum.

I also tested two of the grinding stones, they are of the fine-grade type and both in appearance and effectiveness the same as every other cheap multi-tool stone I’ve tried. Other than that two things which annoyed me slightly was the omission of grinding discs, something which Draper provides and which can prove to be very useful, and the annoying tendency of the smaller sanding drums to block the closing of the accessory case. These though are pretty minor niggles.

Overall you get what you pay for; I needed it in a hurry but will continue to use it. It’s fine for light DIY and accurate enough for modeling work and the compatibility with Dremel accessories (which I didn’t test) should allow the user to overcome the shortcomings with some of the accessories. Just go easy on it and don’t treat it as a high-torque drill.

    Cheap but surprisingly cheerful
After the third drive spring breaking on my B&D Wizard I bought this as a replacement. It’s physically larger and significantly more powerful than the Wizard which has both pros and cons. If you want a rotary tool for intricate work e.g. engraving then the weight and bulk of this would make things hard work (the 135Watt model would be a better choice for this) but for general cutting, and grinding the extra power is very welcome. In terms of build quality you can tell it’s a budget tool, but it’s far from bad. The plastic body has been molded pretty nicely, no sharp seams or flashing and it all fits together nicely. The spindle lock is a bit loose – the button rocks a little sideways as you apply force to the chuck – but it feels strong enough to last. The picture fooled me into thinking the end of the tool that holds the bearings for the spindle was metal, but it’s just silver paint on the plastic. That said, there is negligible slop in the spindle bearings unlike some of the budget rotary tools.

Since buying it I discovered you can buy the same tool under a different brand on an auction site for a couple of pounds more and it comes with a flexi-shaft, an option I probably would have chosen as it would have negated the weight and bulk of the tool for smaller jobs.
