Power Distribution

Use thermal cameras to inspect power distribution cabinets easily and conveniently. Most electrical power distribution cabinets’ hidden dangers are invisible to naked eyes but will lead to great damage or risk, which could be avoided by thermal cameras usage

Water Leak Inspection

Hidden water can wreak havoc on insulation, wood, electrical components and, eventually, finishes when it does reveal itself. As long as the conditions are right, thermal imaging will find the leakage area though showing the temperature variances between water and surrounding materials.

Building Insulation Inspection

When insulation is missing in walls or rafters, it can cause energy loss and increase heating and cooling costs. As long as the conditions are right, Pocket2 thermal imaging camera can help identify areas with energy loss, especially those in hard-to-reach locations or behind walls.

Machinery Troubleshooting

Pocket2 offers you a non-invasive and non-destructive inspection to merchinary system. It’s much easier for you to diagnose faults of conveyor belt, engine, cooling system and other invisible problems.

This camera picks up everywhere there is cold air coming into your house. I use mine for locating drafts coming into the house and I use it a lot for my electronic repairs as it helps me locate bad capacitors or other items that are hot.

I bought this as a replacement for my Flir C5’s which unfortunately have reliability issues and break every few months. So far this has better features, better camera and just works better. Time will tell we’re hoping this product is way more reliable.

This is a really nice thermal camera, it has great image quality and features. The screen is large enough and it has enough resolution that you can identify what you are looking at. The build quality is solid and feels like it will last a long time. My only complaint is the carrying case could fit a little better.

The first thermal camera we purchased didn’t work so we contacted Amazon customer service and they were pretty much the worst and frustrating to deal with. We then contacted the seller and they got back to us a day later and were very helpful. The new camera works great and will be an asset to our business. Easy to use and has great images.

Did extensive research and when I purchased this in Nov 2022, this was the best for the money available at the time. Bought it on black friday and did the job I needed. Can see studs, find air leaks and works very well for the price.

The only thing I would like is a better regular camera so you don’t need to take pictures with a separate one (does a poor job on labels and close ups) and the ability to transfer files via bluetooth or wifi. Maybe it can do it over wifi but I tried once, didn’t work so just plug in a cable.

Best thermal camera imo for ~$600 CDN and I compared it to over 15 different models.

bought this just to play with and I’ve found so much more use for it than I thought I would. finding troublesome wires, finding ac leaks, all sorts of things. this thing is freaking amazing

Found out one of my toes has poor circulation… all dark purple on the image. I can see my veins with this camera. Now I know fan motors run cooler than I thought (48C). I can see the studs in my walls and where the xbox gets hot. I’m liking this device.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLong time home inspector here. I have an early gen Flir E6 that’s heavy and a hassle to carry around that this cameras picture quality compares Difference is it’s pocket size and you can instantaneously transfer photos to any capable smart device (cell phone) using a hot spot. MSX is outstanding for this price point. Battery life will give you 4 inspections easily. Great product so far so but I’ve only had it for a couple of weeks so I’ll provide updates as I go

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThe Good: compact, above average specs. in most categories for a pocket IR imaging camera at this price point. Rugged, fit & finish is very good, relatively fast boot time, lighter weight, clean sharp images, regular firmware updates & software support, several methods for wireless support, very good quality color display made with what appears to be a quality glass touch surface. Warranty coverage periods & categories are better than most others with local repair centers. Senior customer service representatives responded promptly to my inquiries & suggestions (USA based).

The Bad: shutter button has practically no resistance to arbitrarily triggering. Normal handling will trigger the shutter constantly (frustrating). Somewhat higher price point. No lens protection provided in the design (even though they’re recessed). Optional macro lens is now significantly more expensive then the competition at ($120.00, not tested yet). This camera doesn’t allow toggling on & off of floating screen digits above the ‘hot’, ‘cold’ & ‘center’ temperature points (request submitted via email & acknowledged. This would be a very useful enhancement). Nylon storage case’s form factor is too tight, it’s difficult to remove this camera without bending the soft case. There can be occasional annoying lag in the touchscreen response time for some functions.

Opinion: The best choice for a quality, ultra portable thermal imaging camera compared to the competition at this time. I’ve only had the camera for about a week now. If anything significantly changes I’ll add it to this review.

Overall: I’d recommend this purchase as the pros & cons seem to balance each other out. If you’re searching for “Pro Quality” the higher price point is a fair trade off.

Update: Discovered Windows “Analyzer” software is unintuitive & can be frustrating. The iOS app is usable has a reasonable learning curve.

Excellent frame rate, high resolution, and for the price this thing competes with several thousand dollar units from FLIR. It does calibrate every 5 – 10 seconds which freezes the video, it would be nice if there was an option to only calibrate at video start instead of periodically.

Great performance in a convenient shirt pocket size. I was hesitant about the focus-free lens after using a more expensive one where I could dial in the focus, but it works well. Camera interface is satisfactory, and the firmware continues to be updated to improve usability. The latest update improves the swipe-down menu performance. The free analysis software is fantastic. You don’t need to worry about the in-camera settings because nearly all of them can be changed after using the desktop software, especially the fusion image alignment with the thermal image and the visible light image. The only thing I couldn’t change afterwards was the upper end temperature sensitivity, so if you are trying to take an image of a high temperature source, be sure to change to the extended temperature range first before taking images.

Other notable features: The remote view/control operation using a tablet or phone, which even includes 2-way voice communication – a feature not mentioned in the brochure, but is described in the manual. The video mode is great but less useful for analysis.

Both in regular imaging mode and video mode the camera will pause briefly to calibrate. This happens with most thermal cameras and helps maintain its accuracy.

The resolution is good, and the sensitivity is high so you can see small temperature differentials. It’s a powerful tool, and as with any tool, users should learn the basics of thermal imaging physics in order to make the most of it.

Overall, I’m suitably impressed by the form factor, performance, and value, and highly recommend it for anyone involved in building science, inspection, or energy performance.

Fantastic value in a pocket thermal image

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI used to own and perform home inspections with a flir one. My last flir one recently broke. After all the positive reviews I decided to chip the additional amount to get this device. OMG I am not disappointed in the slightest in regards to using this device HOWEVER This app is so nerve-wracking. First in foremost it couldn’t read any photos when downloaded on my IPAD. Which freaked me out. When using the app on this phone 1)you have to connect to the same wifi simple enough,
    2)go to on device files
3)downloading them from there. But wait there is more.
4)When you download them there it doesn’t get saved on your phone, ipad, device what have you. It gets saved on the pictures and video option in the app. FROM THERE YOU CAN FINALLY DOWNLOAD THE PICTURES.

    Camera is amazing,app needs work

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI’ve owned the FLIR i7 and E8 for years, and was looking for a smaller unit and possibly better connectivity with iOS. This thing is just amazing. Small, fits in a shirt pocket, the iOS app allows easy transfer and markup of thermal images for quick sharing. The frame rate is stunning, coming from the crippled 9fps world of all things lower-end FLIR. You can shoot video too! And it looks great and is equally easy to share.

Very pleased with this! Needs a macro lens for close in work. Accuracy seems to match the two FLIR units I measured against

The iOS app can save a pic with the thermo data in it and you can edit the pallets and add data points and temps of interest anywhere.

Excellent thermography in a tiny package

This device is well priced for what you can see with it. Truly a remarkable tool that is so much better than a laser thermometer.

I was looking at Flir models in a similar price range but this does so much more. The UI is very intuitive and simple. I like the form factor as well, as it is not bulky.

The only thing I would say is a concern is that it does feel more delicate than other tools and I need to take care of it. So the case is nice to have.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI was having a problem with water intrusion into my home during heavy, wind-driven rain storms with wind from the south. I was afraid that I would have to replace all of the cedar siding to fix it, as I could not tell the extent of the leakage. My HIK thermal imager was delivered, and that very night, we had the exact type of storm, and water was coming into the house. The thermal imager saw the leakage area right away, and I could see that the water was coming through just one place. I was able to patch rather than replace the siding.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI’ve owned several thermal cameras, and this is my current go to. Ive tried flir, seek and hti. I have a higher resolution thermal camera by hti but this one makes a cleaner image. The app to transfer photos to my phone is nice and easy to use. This is my go to thermal camera I use at home inspections. The 25hz refresh rate makes scanning a home much faster than most thermal camera which only have 9hz refresh rate. Pocket size is convient to carry in my tool belt without taking up as much room as a gun style. It’s not 100% perfect, sometimes the screen says “calibrating” if you move between vastly different temp surfaces or substantially different measurement distances. For the money it’s great and I can no longer justify spending 3-4 times the price for a comparable flir.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersLicensed home inspector and Level 1 Thermographer here. I provide thermal imaging services for my clients.

Used a FLIR C5 camera for a while. Switched to this one from HIKMICRO, and will never look back.
HIK model offers a lower price for a far more responsive (faster) in camera UI, higher thermal and optical image resolution, faster refresh rate, faster boot-up time, and a more responsive touchscreen. Long story short; it is heads and shoulders above the C5 in every department.

Here are two thermal images shown here for the same ceiling with voids in the attic insulation. The one from HIK (with the image settings displayed), versus the second one from a FLIR C5. Both with the thermal span properly tuned.
Whereas the C5 returns an unfocusable blob, the HIK thermal image is sharp right out of the box, with the insulation voids and thermal bridging clearly visible (note that the HIK image span is set to auto, which turned out pretty good)

If you are considering a pocket size thermal imager, especially for work-related use at a reasonable price, don’t waste your time shopping everywhere. Pick this up and don’t bother looking back!

Head and shoulders better than the FLIR C5

This piece is brilliant. I just bought it and made some tests. It works great, highest quality of video quality. I love the PIP option. I hope this device will last a long time.
@Amazon, it is a Bull***t when customers want to chat with Amazon, that they talk to an Automat. I want to praise or complain to a living person not to an Automat. Also it’s a lie when one gets a message saying: your order has been delivered. Nothing was delivered. ” Chatted ” with Amazon and got the answer that I have to wait for 24 hours more before I can ask where the package is. you have to send the message when the Order is delivered, but not days upfront.
