I wasn’t sure what I would get for 36 and I was BEYOND impressed with the quality and ease of construction (if you watch the YouTube video, before, and during, the construction)
I’m a 58 year old lady with arthritic hands and I built it in 25 minutes, so don’t be put off by other reviews stating it’s difficulty!!

Great hose reel easy to assemble.Lightweight and makes it so easy when using a hose rather than trying to untangle a loose hosepipe.

Oh, and yes, you do screw the self-tapping screws directly into the metal legs in stage 2 of the instructions.

    Here's where that spring goes!

There’s a YouTube tutorial to help build this. I do agree it is a bit of a pain and takes a while to build but the video breaks it all down for you – better than the box pictures! Other than that, the product is great and makes life much easier.

Comes as flat pack – Took 2 adults about an hour to put together! We found some of the pieces were really hard to get into place. But it works really well now it is together!

Fine, but the (microfiche-scale) instructions don’t tell you where to shove that spring. Had to google it.

After buying a different make of hose reel and it falling to bits very quickly,I’ve bought another of this make for it’s quality. This is not the easiest to put together unless you’re quite strong but it’s probably because of its better quality and definitely follow the instructions as some parts of the assembly are not reversible if you get the order wrong.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAssembled the reel with picture like instructions. But on attaching the hose and winding it on it kinked badly in several places and when fully on obviously no water came through. Very disappointed.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat product, easy to assemble, good quality. Only improvement would be if the reel end of the hose was statically attached / better quality of seal as pressure of tap can cause pressure blocks or even it to pop off. This part of the product does not need to be customer serviceable and would benefit from a higher quality factory seal

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGot this to run the 15 metres to our back garden fence and it takes the long hose and metal hose head with ease. The handle to wind it back up is easy to use, the mounting robust, although you do need to feed the hose with one hand so it doesn’t just coil up at one side.
Where it loses points for me is with the terrible installation instructions. The wall mount rawl plugs come with a handy guide and even a paper template to help with the measuring (not that I needed it), what wasn’t obvious was, bizarrely, after measuring out the two points for the wall mounts to go, it has an additional step, after installing the first wall mount, of adding roughly another 10cms onto the second one so that the whole unit doesn’t rattle around. I, unfortunately, missed this step, so my reel has a tendency to move around more than I’d like. Still sturdy, but why measure out two spots and then add another distance and another step because the first instruction is wrong?!
Similarly, I ended up putting one part in the wrong side (easy mistake) but there are certain steps that cannot be undone once you’ve gone through them. Took a lot of digging to find the spare parts department (their website says it’s closed but you can email them and they will sell you the part, despite what their website says) and got a spare sent out without too much difficulty or cost.
I know it’s a common complaint with this model but they really need to overhaul the instructions and/or the assembly to make it more straightforward!

Nightmare to set up, came in around 30 pieces and had to set up. Says to screw a bar in, no pre drilled holes so still haven’t been able to set up entirely until I find a small enough drill bit to fit my drill

One problem when assembling I could not work out which way to put the spring into the hose at the inner joint. Took a best guess Seems to work,I came to the descision by a careful consideration of the reason for the need to have a spring in the system I don’t like pictorial instruction. BFJ

I’m not going to review the hose itself – others have done that – but just to say the Hozelock customer service team have been fab. We were missing a couple of parts on arrival – accidents happen, fair enough – and a phonecall later, the missing parts were in the post and all was sorted. Well while I’m here, I might as well add: the hose is great and Hozelock are really the only people in this game. They make a great product and I can’t see us ever using anything else.

I note some reviewers commenting that they struggled with assembly. I’m generally not great at putting things together but this only took me 20 minutes. The pictures aren’t that clear but it’s pretty obvious where each bit goes to be honest.

Otherwise it’s just a hosepipe and a reel. The hosepipe doesn’t leak and the reel works smoothly. It comes with a handful of connectors to get set up. I haven’t added any additional hosepipe on so can’t comment on its capacity.

Now, I don’t want to offend anyone on here but I’d read the reviews of people struggling to put it together etc. I managed to put it together in approx. 10 minutes. No leaks, strong, sturdy, coils up well and hose is mega tough stuff, never seen a garden hose so well manufactured. I’ve been just using an old cheap bit of hose from the garden centre for years pushed onto the outside tap and this solution is well worth the money and no comparison.

Great product, comes with everything that is required – including a connector for the tap.
Just one small drawback – the assembly instructions are printed on the inside of the box and are very hard to follow, given that the pictures are small and it is hard to see which way round they are.
Other than that, no issues once assembled.

When assembled this is a good product but as other reviewers have noted the assembly instructions are appalling. It is not actually difficult to put together but Hozelock have really let themselves down; a sheet of A4 with a parts list and bigger, much bigger, pictures would make an amazing positive improvement. If you buy one and are daunted go to You Tube.

Glad I read the reviews to help me get the handle on the correct side and to snap the main drum together – just cushion underneath and sit down hard on it! Used several times now and works fine, provided you have the right kind of tap onto which the end of the hose will fit (a tap with an outside screw thread. If you want to fit to another kind of tap, you’d need to get the correct fitment). I agree that I can’t believe that the reel would actually take 60m of hose, but probably 40m. The only reason I haven’t given it 5 stars is because the assembly instructions could be better and the straight metal bar at the bottom of mine keeps falling out!

As mentioned by other reviewers, the assembly “instructions” in the form of diagrams was not clear nor easy. Never the less, I persisted and managed to get it all connected except the metal bar at the back. There were no holes for screws in the metal bar and the four screws supplied are for the wall fixings. Will have a scramble through husband’s (unused!) toolbox for smaller screws. The item works well.

Absolute pain to assemble, but it’s about 12 cheaper than the assembled ones at B&Q. There’s a part of the assembly where you have to put the two halves together; this requires a fair amount of force (I had to stamp on it – I’m 5’10” and I’m fairly strong). The nozzle spray bit that you hold is rubbish, so i suggest you get your own sprayer. But, once it’s assembled it’s a good long hosepipe. Reaches the front of the house with no problems, and winds back up easily.

Comes as a flat pack and took us a while to assemble, the instructions are on the box lid and in small print. Once together it’s nice and sturdy aand easy to use. You do have to stand with your foot on the cross bar when you rewind the hose and it is quite heavy to move about. Neither would be a problem if you attached it to the wall with the fittings supplied.

Supplied flatpack so requires assembly, appears to be well made and comes with wall brackets and fixings for mounting on brick wall. Hose supplied is good quality and flexible. Comes complete with enough attachments to run a fly hose to the tap but it does require this to be cut from the main hose (therefore reducing the length of the hose on the reel).

The end attachment for the hose is a stop valve, allowing the head to be changed whilst the tap is on. The spray head supplied is basic, with only minimal adjustment from fine spray to jet.

Great garden hose. It is easy to put together and of good quality. you have a choice of wall mounting the reel or having it as free standing. I have this item for a few month now and had not issue with the hose very easy to roll back. The only issue with this item is with regard the nozzle – it is useless. All in all I would recommend this item, great value for the quality of this product.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is my first Hozelock, so I came to it in a virginal state of mind.
The printed instructions for assembly are vague and not very well thought out, but through trial and error, I put it together without too much fuss.
The hose itself has a tendency to twist, and needs a certain amount of patience when feeding it onto the reel before use, but it`s fairly flexible, so it`s no big deal.
There are an assortment of fitting connections to hook it up to your water taps, so you won`t need to buy anything extra.
All in all, a reasonably well made hose reel that does what it says on the tin without fuss or bother.
I`m very pleased to have bought it.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI’m very pleased with this product from Hozelock. Once made up (which was quite simply despite rubbish instructions) it feels solid and of good quality. The hose supplied isn’t the best available but I knew that before ordering. The wall mounts are a great addition and allow you to remove it from the wall very easily for winter storage etc. It only loses a star due to the instructions but I’d definitely recommend to anyone wanting a good value wall mounted hose reel.
