About Us

When the Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) was founded in 1939, the world was a very different place. There were no fully electronic computers. The only printers were industrial-sized printing presses. Palo Alto, California was composed mostly of fruit orchards. The internet was decades away from fruition.

The storied history of HP coincides with the development of home computing and the rise of Silicon Valley. HP’s innovations were instrumental in making home computers and printers more affordable for the average consumer, and their success inspired a wave of electronics companies to start-up in Santa Clara County, California. Everyone wanted to hang out in HP’s neck of the woods.

    Great produc
Great product. Very easy to install and use. As per usual, the ink carts are only half full but nearly all new machines are like this. A choice of it in the colour black would be great but you can have everything. Five stars for quality.

    The moaning has ceased
I bought this for the Mrs as she was moaning her other HP printer had packed up. It had to be this one as she had lots of ink that fitted this printer. Anyway it appears she set it up with no problems and the moaning has ceased. Bliss.

Easy to connect and good quality
Ordered this printer for a project with photos and resin. The printer was easy to use, and simple connection. I was able to send photos from my phone for printing. This printer came with inks to install and a free subscription for 2 months of replacement ink. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this printer. Pleased with my purchase.

    Printer arrived on time.
Only took me 15 minutes to set up on wi-fi for my lap and mobile phone.
Also set it up my cable as well as a back up in case the Wi-fi crashed.
We purchased the printer for 34 which is an incredible price and was 10 more expensive today than yesterday when the printer was purchased.
Currently more than happy with produc

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our Users5.0 out of 5 stars Can’t fault it.
Purchased to replace an older and faulty HP printer.
Only print very occasionally, so I was having difficulty justifying buying a new printer but at this price it’s well worth it.
Slightly hard to set up, seems to show two methods 123.HP.com and the HPapp, which left me with 2 icons on my phone!
Using the 1st icon (123) was confusing and was asking for payment to print, a monthly subscription of which there was n mention of previously!
Anyway, I deleted the 123 icon and just used the app and all is working fine.
Good quality and clear print at a good speed. Much more compact casing than I expected which is a bonus as I am in a space restricted cottage, it’s the same width as my previous printer but half the depth.
This is perfect for my needs, important documents, car and breakdown papers to keep in the car, postage labels, travel tickets and the odd recipe.
The only thing I can’t seem to be able to do is double sided printing to cut down on paper use, but I have literally only just set it up, I’m sure there is a way, and for how much I will need it it’s not a huge problem. 5 stars as it stands.

No bad at all! Specially for about 55 what we pay for it! Item arrived quickly, and work with no issue from box! I register with “smartink” and I get 2+3 month printing for free(700 pages per calendar month) and fist pack of XL cartilages arrived already wow!Printing from PC is easy, from my Samsung s20 ultra not, and I can’t figure out why?! Need plug in, okay I downloaded from Google play store… after that work perfectly! Connecting to wifi was kind of tricky but after 3 times was successful, now connection is stable!

After using it, it was okay ish. Print not always clear.
Now after unplugging it for 2 months, I can not connect to wifi.
I have spent hundreds of hours attempting this and it is causes me much stress as I have many travel documents I desperately need to print.
Today I finally got a wifi connection but I cannot connect as it asks for a password which I have not had to use before.
It is not the same password as the Hp smart app, so with no option to change password I find it now pretty useless and is making me feel ill.
    I am done with it.

Instructions were rubbish, I recommend watching YouTube tutorials, they show you what you should see on your phone app.

The app wouldn’t work for me for ages, but with YouTube I got it set up eventually.

Print quality is great, it is slow to print so it’s fine for the occasional document but if you’re printing a phd thesis or something it’ll take a while. Once it’s set up, it’s very quick and easy to print straight from your phone.

I haven’t tried the scan option yet. I think this is a good occasional use printer, I haven’t bothered with the Instant Ink, I just bought a cartridge. The app on your phone tells you how much ink is remaining anyway.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI can't fault this printer plus excellent customer service
I was a little worried about buying this printer as it seemed to rely on my mobile phone for printing but when I set it up, it connected to my mobile phone and PC without any problem. Set up was so easy.
I frequently have files on my phone that I’ve wanted to print in the past and now I don’t have to worry about transferring to my PC first. Files go straight from my phone to the printer using the HP Smart app.
The printer is small and neat and functions perfectly.
I’d highly recommend. Especially at the price.
On set up I was given a two months free trial for the ink replenishment service as only HP cartridges will work.
The booklet that came with the printer said that a 4 month free trial came with the printer. I contacted HP, again very easy to do and I got to talk to a real person. That was soon sorted and the extra months were added to my account. I think the ink subscription idea is a good one. You’re assured of genuine cartridges that work and you can choose a plan that suits the amount of printing you do. The plans are very reasonable starting at 99p a month.
    Excellent customer service.
    I can’t fault it!

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersGood cheap printe
I didn’t have a printer at home for years as I didn’t want or have the room for an ugly printer sitting around that was very rarely used. I had the need for a printer so got one of these. It’s very small when the trays are folded away and light, easily fits in a large drawer when its not being used. Set up was ok, had a bit of an issue getting the software to sync properly and let me login to the printer with my Macbook but once I installed the app on my phone it seemed to sort itself out. Print quality is good, its not the fastest but that doesn’t bother me. Scanning is easy although its one page at a time, the scanning software is easy to use and scan stuff to pdf, it would be better if it had a document feeder but I guess that would also make it bigger.

Connectivity could be a bit sporadic sometimes, it would get halfway through a document then decide it couldn’t be bothered anymore, annoying if you are attempting to print double sided as unless you are a brain surgeon figuring out how to print half a document double sided is impossible. Anyway I found the best way was to email the document to the printer (you can set it up with its own email address during set up), no issues doing it that way. The connection seems to go to sleep after a while, the printer is on but the computer thinks it isn’t only way to wake it up seems to be to turn it off and turn it on again. You can use a good old fashioned USB cable which would presumably stop any connectivity issues, it doesn’t come with one but its the usual USB printer cable with the square type USB plug (USB B possibly?).

In summary it has some quirks but for a cheap printer it does the job just fine and print quality is pretty good, it prints, scans and connects wirelessly to both your computer and phone so does everything most folk would need a printer to do.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGood all rounder, set up not via app though...
Bought for print, scan, copy at home, small volumes but wanted print from Android phones, MacBook and Windows…something reasonably cheap, easy set up and use …had HP before without issues ….I can do all I want with this small all rounder and half the size of my recent departed Epson…signed up instant ink too, will see how that pans out (not going to self promote my link here for free ink, don’t worry)….only annoying thing I found so far is that i could not set up at all via my android phone, after multiple failed attempts I checked the HP app on my phone to be advised this specific printer can’t be set up via phone app (true?).. Either way resorted to Macbook and set up easy after app download there …since then I have connected and printed, scanned to phone without issue….happy so far & actually a few more features such as photo scan that I didn’t know was available..

Great printer with very small footpri
Very impressed with this printer/scanner especially when used with the HP app. I use it mainly via an iPad or iPhone and it is so easy to set up and use. The only restriction is that it can only scan paper documents as it feeds the document through a scanner not a flatbed, however the app allows you to scan using the iPad or iPhone camera, so things like passports and driving licences can be accommodated easily. I would definitely recommend and will be shortly buying a second one as we need a printer at both our houses.

This little printer is a lot slimmer than most all in one printers. It Copies , prints from laptop, desk top , tablet or mobile phone. As a older person, ease of use and set up is important so I was pleased to find this printer fitted the bill. The scan option can be be used for single paper/ flat documents that feed through the scan bar on top and cannot be used for items that have to be opened up like a book or passport. It looks smart with its slimline look and the ink comes in 2 cartridges , one black and one multi colour and works out a lot less that the 4 colour printers.

The product is great for the price. Print quality is good. The tray to hold printed pages is a little flimsy and can sometimes cause pages to get stuck. The HP print plan makes it very pocket friendly. The scan quality and copy functions are great. It’s not at all noisy and lastly you can control and print though mobile app or by sending a document to it’s dedicated email address.

The printer is ok and I would of kept it if it printed on thick card, it said on another website it would take 300gsm card but I can’t get it to feed through. It will however take 220gsm card so if that’s what you want it for then it would of been fine. It is a little confusing to set up but I did manage to do it in the end. 5 months of free ink? Not bad HP not bad.
As others have pointed out setup is a bit tricky so be patient. Make sure the Wifi is 2.4 as I had problems connecting to 5. Also if you have multiple WIFI networks make sure you are on the same network.

I usually hate signing up for subscriptions of any kind but this ink thing is quite convenient as you can adjust how many pages you are printing and I usually remember I ran out of ink at the last moment so have to buy ridiculously expensive ink from local cornershop, 1 pound a month if I don’t print anything is acceptable too also pages roll over. Has statistics on how much you print so small business situation this is helpful.

Overall love how small this is.
Also has quiet printing mode for those late night printing sessions.

    Impressive little printe
I rarely leave reviews but felt compelled to as I too was a little worried about ordering due to the negative reviews on the setup process. I can categorically say that the setup is very easy (albeit I only linked this to my phone) and if you’re after a small, reliable, easy to use printer then this is the one for you.

I had the thing out of the box, linked to my phone and registered to HP within minutes and that included downloading the HP Smart app from the App Store and registering for instant ink. Some previous reviews mentioned a lack of paper instructions but I had a really easy to follow quick step guide included with mine and the app also has an easy step by step.

The Smart app is fantastic. It’s links to the printer rapidly and there are many features you can access directly such as photo printing from
your camera roll. You can scan on there and directly print it off if you don’t want to use the inbuilt scan function or you want to scan something unusually shaped like a passport or other item.

To test it out I scanned a picture my son had drew and printed it onto a card. Unlike most printers I found it really easy to change the sizing and the feed tray on the printer has the size alignment lines on there to make sure you position it correctly. On a normal quality colour print it came out perfectly and has barely used any ink.

The printer is really compact but feels sturdy and will be perfect for whipping out, printing something off and putting it away again.

The only thing that has annoyed me slightly is that the offer on Amazon stated “2 months free instant ink trial” but the packaging and info that comes with the printer alludes to 4 MONTHS free instant ink.

All in all very pleased with what I feel is a bargain for a very good bit of kit.

ell packed. All parts present when opened. Some of the instructions could be a tad clearer for people who have never set up printer before. It annoying to find you need to set up an HP account ti use it (unless I have got something wrong. Have used it for printing text and photos up to yet with very good results. Connected with other devices on the network without any problems. A god buy. I think the scaning feature is a bit naff as you need to feed the sheets – no detais given for that by the way.

I would have been happy with just a desktop printer and no scanner, but this little beauty, despite my title, does just the job. The price I thought was too good to be true, but you get a lot of bang for your buck so to speak. After reading a lot of the reviews it really left me wondering about some peoples ideas of value for money? Because yes it’s not that easy to set up, not like the more expensive ones, and yes the build quality is a budget build. However, once you are up and running its a little gem. Tucked away on a shelf in my home workshop, its a shed!, It doesn’t take up loads of space and now I can just whip it out and print away to my hearts content. I got it to save me time running back forward to the house using one of the said more expensive printers (HP as well) every 5 minutes when doing invoices or tech plans. When I’ve finished I can just pop it back on the shelf out of the way. I will need to make a cover for it though.. the shed gets just a tad dusty at times. Bottom line its a HP mini gem and I love it! I knew I would. Thank you HP!

This printer is for use in the motorhome whilst we are in Spain. We need a private printer for certain documents. It is not the first HP printer we have so we I am used to the little quirks they throw up. To be fair this was pretty much plug and play except for the redemption code which come on a printout via the ePrint button that does not exist. What I have found is to print a word document to it and then then code page comes afterwards. Beware the page is in German as this is where the firmware gets loaded. Other than that a lot easier to set up than other printers I have had the displeasure of installing.

Machine is very small and lightweight. It’s plasticky, feels fragile. Feeding paper can be a bit awkward. BUT all functions work, print quality, whether text or photo, is good. A good buy for my limited use.

Nightmare to install but good printe
Im not the greatest with technology but I found this printer quite difficult to install to be honest. It took well over an hour but once it was installed, the printer is really good.

Quality is great but set up instructions could be a lot clearer and easier.

    Integrity
I did not, and still do not like this Printer, because I had to employ an IT person to set it up, on top of which, there is no understandable manual to aid in the use of the printer, regards speed Font sizes, nor the fact that you cannot enjoy the INK supply that you sell this printer by. Disappointed. Mr B J D Wilson Lincol

Not used it a lot yet, but so far does what it says on the tin for the money paid.
Set up, as in other reviews, wasn’t totally straightforward- I’m not using it from my mobile so didn’t want to download an app and didn’t know how “WiFi Direct” translates to a laptop. However it helpfully spat out reams of instructions once switched on and we eventually found the ones that applied to our requirements.
We had to “tell” it to connect to our WiFi, it didn’t pick it up automatically as previous ones have done, so took a little longer to get going but that’s my only quibble so fa

Golden Review Award: 60 From Our UsersDamn this thing is small!
I’ve had several HP printers in the past and got used to their size, but as I needed a printer for the home I saw this and thought why not… and damn, this thing is small compared to the others I’ve had, it’s about 2/3 the depth but that makes a difference

Scanning isn’t as easy for non-documents (like passports or pags from a book/magazine), but if you’re really just wanting a printer and don’t need the scanner/copier feature, then this is superb

Print quality is what you expect from HP colour ink jets, and speed seems comparable to the slightly larger models

Overall, if you want a small printer with a paper scanner/copier, then this will be a superb purchase for you!

Very happy with this compact printer it does what it said on the seller description and to be honest after reading the reviews saying it was a nightmare to set up I was very nervous about it but it was really straight forward and I’m NOT an IT/computare geek!. Highly recommend it!

Set up was very easy, I’m no tech guy but I had this working in 5 minutes, connected to WiFi instantly, its a very good compact printer and will be OK for my printer needs.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersCompact little printer. Does the job
I didn’t realise how small it was until I unpacked it. It prints perfectly, but as there is no guide for the exiting paper, you do needed to leave a little space for the paper to come out. It is a little fiddly to scan, as you have to feed the (to be scanned) paper in. It will only scan sheets of paper, ie you cannot scan your passport as it will not fit into the feeder. I’m happy with it.

    Works well
Arrived a day early – Thank you. It is a compact printer with a small footprint yet works well. I have managed to configure it to all of my smart devices. Works over Wi-Fi and USB cable (not supplied), but universal fitting.
