Im impressed, feels good in the hand and does it’s job. Good quality doesn’t feel cheap. Was going to buy a bluepoint reversible cutoff wheel, this is the same thing.

Yes it’s not the cheapest. But this will out last you. The revers is not a gimmick but really hand. We have all used one and had to keep head out of way due to sparks. Or worse sparks flying near fuel or other combustible. No longer.

Great impact. Zero issues. Works well in a heavy equipment shop.

I bought this thinking maybe it would be better than my IR 2145 QImax. This gun does not hit as hard as the 2145 and it’s disappointing for the money you might as well get the 2145 or just use the IR2850. My 2145 finally wore out after 4 years of hard use. I was going to buy another one but IR stopped making them in America so I got this 2246 for way to much. After using this a few times I put it in my bottom drawer where the garbage tools go and ordered a Chinese made 2145. I’m hoping this made in China one will last as long as the other. It does hit just as hard as my old 2145

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIf you only bust out an air saw a couple times a year this may be overkill; however, if you use an airsaw with any regularity than this is the cream of the crop. The low vibrations make using it far an extended length very comfortable. With a high quality blade the cuts this make are superb. This replaced my Blue-point airsaw. Great ergonomics and great cuts would highly recommend for professional use.

This thing is powerful enough to remove lug nuts installed with a 1″ drive impact. Not crazy about the plastic directional controls, but it’s a hoss.

So far this tool has worked well. Decent power and the reverse direction feature is great to have. This means an added screw when changing the wheel but no real issue to do that. The cutoff wheels that come with it are worthless. Someone mentioned they were good but they obviously have not used 3M wheels.

Great saw for precision cutting particularly in auto body work. Quiet, fast and well worth the price.

I have used Ingersoll rand products for a long time. Has plenty of power and actually pretty comfortable to use. Down side is that IRS other products are suffering from poor design, specifically their 1/2 in. drive impacts and angle grinders..triggers should be made of other material than plastic.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this to cut holes in a Sprinter Van I’m converting and it’s by far one of the best the tools I’ve ever purchase. It’s so incredibly useful and about 1000x more maneuverable than a jig saw for cutting metal. There’s hardly any vibration and it cuts like auto panels like butter. The saw itself is super comfortable the handle is really nice and it’s great to have something from the IR name. I highly recommend this saw if you are doing any sort of metal fab work on thin panels!

only thing if you use it in reverse you must use the lock srew on the shank or the nut will come un done

The Ingersoll Rand 426 3″ cut off tool when combined with a good thin disc cuts through steel or aluminium like a hot knife through butter.

This is my first rotary cutting tool besides a dremel which is much smaller and like a toy in comparison.

I was hesitant at first as you can read deep into comparisons between different brands and models, particularly when it comes to power or horsepower ratings.

I can confirm this tool does the job and will cut through pipe work, exhausts, car body panels, unistrut, box section and general sheet steel easily.

Don’t buy a cheaper no name brand, buy this and buy once!

5.0 out of 5 stars Like a hot knife through butter!

This thing is a beast cuts 18ga sheet metal like butter. I bought a cheap no name one at first and it was cut an inch and get stuck. I should have bought this one the first time it’s amazing.

I like it for now ,didnt use it too much ,but it does the job. Nice cut , used on soft wood ,plywood, fiberglass.
However on the question I asked about using normal bi metal hacksaw blades I received such a answer “Hi,
Thanks for your question – Our 529 Reciprocating Saw takes our PF Series Saw Blade: P4FS-6, which can also be found on Amazon.
Due to the varied nature of Hacksaw Blade Designs for specific manufacturers, we only recommend using Official Ingersoll Rand blades”
It would be just enough to say “Yes , you can on your own risk” because this reciprocating saw it takes regular hacksaw blades ,just you need to snap them on half and I am not planing to use your original blades as the company I work for supply only bi-metal hacksaw blades. Thank you , I promise will let you know when this saw dies 😉 Thats all.

This is by far the best body saw I’ve used. It’s so quiet and smooth as butter which makes it easy to start a cut . I’ve only used it 4 times, awesome so far. My first was a HF, I still have it, works ok when it works but it sticks really bad and loud with a lot of vibration. My second was an SP geared supposed to be the best way to go on these saws . It broke after about 5 times using it. I repaired it and used it 3 more times and broke again. I paid around 200.00 for it.

I’ve been using this non stop cutting out floorpans, cowls, etc on a car I’m restoring and this saw is AWESOME!!! It’s strong, fast, and cuts through automotive sheet metal like a hot knife through butter. You can cut compund curves and circles like a band saw and did I mention it cuts quickly? It is also very smooth cutting and the anti vibration claim is 100% true. Great air saw, I 100% recommended this thing!

Size is good. Lightweight. Vibration to a minimum for what it is. Precision cutting. My husband uses it for many of his automotive uses and has good things to say about. For reference, it cuts lightweight aluminum, heavy weight aluminum and a steele bumper on our Jeep. So far cuts cleanly.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersCuts like butter and is quieter than others too. Uses standard blades and runs off a 1/4″ air connector (not included). Like every air tool it must be oiled prior to daily use with a few drops of air tool oil. Very comfortable to hold and is easy to guide in a straight line. I cut 1/8″ steel with it and it did fine. That’s probably thicker than I normally use it for. Vibration is much lower than others I have used in the past. Can’t go wrong with the Ingersoll Rand 529 Reciprocating Air Saw. I highly recommend this saw. If it were to get stolen I would buy another one. I can’t do without it.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersGreat tool, couldn’t do my job without it honestly. I’ve been a fabricator for about 7 years and I’ve used many pneumatic air saws including blue point and a few cheap knockoffs. This IR air saw is hands down the best. Very minimal vibration when used properly and cuts very straight.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI like the heaviness of this gun, had them for years and I own a plastic 3/4″ gun too. The 261 IR will outlast and out work any of the plastic body guns. They don’t have the weight necessary to deliver the pounding needed day in-day out! I have owned them all,I have bought them off the tool all 3 big name brand tool trucks and purchased them on-line. Ingersoll Rand cannot be beat!

Very VERY quiet and well balanced. I did have trouble with tightening blades in this at first but now no trouble somehow. I no longer grab my 4 1/2″ rotory cut-off disk for everthing. 6 months or so now and I’m very happy now with this purchase!

It’s definitely heavy but it gets the job done. The only way to regulate the impact is from a regulator. It doesn’t do anything when you turn the dial next to the trail do anything when you turn the dial next to the trigge

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a quiet saw and buzzed through an aluminum mount for my radiator like butter. I had great control and my cuts look professional.
I especially like the redirect on the spent air, no cold hands.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI read the good reviews before purchasing, they convinced me this was the one for me. I runs very smooth and vibration free. Before buying I needed to cut a roof vent hole in my van, so I used my Bosch jigsaw with a metal blade – way too much work and a lousy cut. Now I’ve been using it for more holes in my van, and courting FRP sheets from Home Depot. These are fiberglass sheets, tough hard surface, they need a really fine blade to cut smoothly, this air saw does the job with ease. I can see using this tool for hours on end and not having any I’ll effects on the hand or wrist. I’m very pleased, very low air consumption too. You could use this thing with one hand cutting holes in metal all day ! And, if you need to cut an extra one eight or quarter inch off, no problem. Such a pleasure to use.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersThis saw is awesome and is a tool for art. I do regulate the pressure to 90 psig and it still has plenty of cutting power. I have been cutting 3/16″ sheet steel with detail curves and this saw eats it up. Also cut some 1/4″ steel with no issue (using a new blade). It’s also very quiet and the exhaust is adjustable (i.e. the direction in which the air is released). Note, that the air exhaust exits the tool away from the work piece. Before buying I did not think that the adjustable exhaust was a key feature, but it’s nice when cutting in confined spaces and did not want the exhaust in my face. The tool is actually smaller than I thought (which is nice) which makes maneuvering easier. Don’t over oil because the tool will lock up and you will have to manually get it going again. So now I only add three drops of oil before using. I do recommend.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA guy at work has the same exact air saw. I knew I had to get one. It cuts through steel and aluminum like butter. There is very little vibration. It cuts very smoothly. With the low amount of vibration, it is very easy to control the saw, and it cuts quickly. The saw is also very quiet. The only noise heard is from the material itself that you are cutting. The grip is very comfortable.

Bottom line is that if you have the money, you should definitely get one like this. You will absolutely not be disappointed. The saw is very comfortable to use.

This was a birthday gift for my son, so he picked it out from others he had looked at. He is very satisfied with the product and had nothing negative to say about the product.
