My hubby loves this & its easy to use he says, as you can guess he’s measured every room & more, as we are moving home shortly it’s saving time in the measurements. Yes recommend.
Got this to replace an old ultrasonic one I have that seems not to work anymore. Have tested this one and it seems to be ok. Haven’t used it properly yet but it seems well made and exceedingly light to carry on your belt.
I guess only time will tell. Bubble spirit levels are small but useful.
I first used the meter to check the dimensions of a room previously measured with a tape measure. 100% accurate. I assumed it would be, so I measured the rest of my house because it’s now so easy. This is a very easy tool to use which will make DIY so much easier.
I was a little reluctant as I had read reviews about accuracy but I have tried it out on known distances and the results match. The results are also consistent/repeatable so not just one-offs. Even measuring using different methods, for example a straight forward measurement followed by a Pythagoras/triangle method worked very well. Now it has gained my trust it has helped with various measurements I was avoiding (due to height or being single handed).
Looked at the other reviews saying it was good, so thought I would give it a go. And have to say impressed did some measurements with a tape first and it came back with the same measurement to the point. So can now save time not having tapes and just push a button!
Measurement made easy! This little laser measure is a pleasure to own and use. Very versatile – from single measurement to continuous to area to volume. Very impressive for the money and even has intelligible instructions! The included case and strap were a bonus. Only let down by arriving with dead batteries (2 x AAA) so factor in needing a couple of fresh ones if you purchase
It’s an ok measure. It’s not watertight- you can easily ease open the centre join. I’ve tried to do the fancy stuff like measuring a wsll height with the Pythagoras setting, and I just get errors. It has many weird pictogram buttons. One setting is for deciding where it takes the measurement from (back, front or mid device). All in all I wish it had just a little more swish.
We had some DIY work at home to do and thought to invest in the laser measurement tool. I wish we had done it sooner!
No more messing with tape measures. The laser measurement tool takes accurate readings in split seconds. Displayed in inches, feet or meters etc, whichever is you preference. I tested it against the tape measure with some near and fair readings and am happy to report the accuracy is perfect.
It also has 2 bubble levels which is handy for leveling. A nice tough carry pouch, and batteries.
If you are looking for a measuring tool then look no futher. Amazing value! Brillant tool!
The most important thing for a device that measures is for it to measure accurately. I am pleased to report that this laser measure is remarkably accurate. I have verified both short and longer distances using a metal rule, and the laser measure is spot on. This is just as well as there is no mechanism to make an adjustment had it been out by even 1.0 mm. It is simple to use. I have only used it to measure straight line distances so I cannot comment on how easy or accurate the area or volume measurements are.
This device is really small and very light. It is easy to use but it took me a while to really appreciate what it could do in terms of calculating volume and area and not just measure distance. It was really useful in helping us calculate the area of the floor in our outside building and is accurate. The LED display is clear and displays the measurements easily.
Having been in construction for many years I was looking forward to testing this project. I have to say the accuracy and ease of use is fantastic. It’s a great product and great value for money. I’d definitely recommend this.
I’ve had a few laser distance meters over the last two or three years and realised that they’re coming down in price and most of them do more-or-less the same thing and have the same functions. The Lytool model is nice looking (I really like the colours) and it’s bright enough to stand out when you’re looking for it in a pile of tools and building materials.
It has all the features that you come to associate with laser measurement tools:
– Standard distance measurements.
– Area and volume calculation.
– Pythagorean measurement.
– Addition & subtraction facilities.
– Memory facility.
The handbook is reasonable well written and illustrated. You don’t need a magnifying glass to read it, and the box it came in is not just a cheap old cardboard box but a decent one with a glossy exterior. Batteries and a decent carry case are supplied and the screen display is clear, even though I’ve seen bigger ones. The device also has two bubble levels on the front should you need them as well as a tripod housing on the back if you want to be really professional. Some devices these days have an inclinometer built in which displays on the screen but the bubble levels are just fine.
The device is advertised as being IP54 compliant and it’s important to know what that means. A product with an IP54 rating is protected against dust ingress sufficient to prevent the product from operating normally but it’s not dust tight. The product is fully protected against solid objects and splashing of water from any angle. It’s not waterproof.
It’s well worth reading the user guide to get the most out of this device. It can do some wonderful maths. As an entry level measuring device the Lytool is excellent. Unless you’re a professional designer or builder you shouldn’t really need much more. You can always splash out a couple of hundred quid on a Bosch or DeWalt device which links to an app on your phone but if you’re happy with the basics then the Lytool will do fine.
As a final note it works up to a distance of 50 meters. There’s a range of distances available with different devices so make sure whichever you choose has the right attributes for you.
The lazer measurement is brilliant highly accurate, although struggles a bit in bright sunshine which is expected as the laser is only 1mw , overall a handy peice of tech , we bought this to save some time in measuring room sizes for carpets and wallpapering.
So I am moving house and I got this because I measure other things enough and this would make life easy for measuring room dimensions (among other things). So far it has been great, the instruction manual is decent, its easy to use and gives accurate measurements as far as I have checked with a tape measure. I also really love the feature where you can include the device height in the overall measurement.
One thing I might be like is if the laser output was closer to the side so that it could measure distance in small spaces. Overall quite happy with it and will make life easier measuring things in the future.
Never thought I would use one or didn’t really see the point, but what a tool.
I use it to set out building work, it will measure a floor space in less the 5secs,its reliable and tough, comes in a cool pouch and I can’t recommend it…
It stops having to fight with a fully stretched out tape and twisting, then creasing “oh the pain of it”.
Fantastic idea should have bought one ages ago.
Really great little laser measure device. Simple to use and accurate.
Comes in a branded cardboard box and with a belt pouch.
I tested it on short distances (pictured next to tape measure for reference) and at longer distances compared to my more expensive Makita one I use at work.
But this one gives the exact same readings and has a extra 20m of range! 🙂
Very lightweight and compact. I have never used this kind of measuring tool before other than normal ruler but it is really easy to use. A little bit confused with the reference point but the user manual explains everything.
Ease of use: I like to play around, before reading the manual. Managed to get it working and measuring. Did the read the manual later to make sure.
Accuracy: Measured a wall and used this to check a few times. Result: got the right measure give or take 5mm. Might have been my manual measuring!
Definately useful for distances longer than a standard tape measure, like rooms, yards etc.
Once you’ve got one, you’ll realise you should have had one a long time ago. With measurement taps, I have always had a wonderful experience. I don’t recall working when I arrive on-site with a range of beneficial functions, so I use it as a tape measure. I normally measure between 0 and 40 m. It seems amazingly accurate.
In comparison to a tape, the measurement of a 10 m wall for finding the centre is insane and rapid. it also has triangles and square measurements option.also measuring units can be set to inches, feets and meters.
The small red laser dot is quite visible and shows you exactly where you’re measuring, which is quite useful. This is now my go-to measurement gadget for anything longer than 5m.
The battery life appears to be excellent, it’s small enough to fit in a coat pocket, and it comes with a high-quality nylon belt holster if you like.
I always wanted one of those. So many times measuring tape is too short or half way, need someone to give you a hand… Finally manage to get one and just for 25 no brainer, is just one of those must have in your asortyment don’t know how accurate it is but even 1mm doesn’t make any difference to me. Toy that’s make me so happy no more cuts broken tapes qick and easy. Massive thanks for making my life easy!!!
