Lego DOTS
As a Harry Potter fan, I was thrilled to see this themed kit. The pieces are well crafted and easy to customise, the kit not only provides a fun and creative activity but also allows fans to showcase their love for Harry Potter in a unique way. Whether you’re a child or an adult, this set offers endless possibilities for personalization and is a must have for any Harry Potter enthusiast.
Dotty about Potte
My Daughter is just getting into Harry Potter, and is crazy about her ‘house’. She’s a proud slytherin, but loves to also talk about other people’s houses too. So I got this set, which features a wearable bracelet and two tags to add to bags, pencil cases, etc for her to show that House Pride. It’s easy to use, and also easy to change, when she’s insistent my Wife shows her Hufflepuff colours at work too!
Haven’t used a dots set before, but after this I would use one again – it’s easy and fun and good value for money.
It's like Lego meets crafting. Also great value for Lego
Lego dots is an interesting concept, it’s kind of like crafting but with Lego where you can make and decorate things like bracelets and keyrings with the advantage you can change it or start again.
It is the usual high quality you expect from Lego and is also compatible with usual Lego so can be used for other ideas outside it’s intended use.
My only gripe with this product is that it’s not maybe the best use of the Harry Potter licence and if you just saw the parts on their own you might have no idea that that is what they are.
A novel set from Lego, to encourage creativity in kids
This is a novel set from Lego. You don’t actually build anything, instead you essentially decorate flat items in a mosaic type style – the items that you get to decorate are a clothes patch, a wristband and 2 tags – the tags can be attached to a key ring or to a school bag etc. Although this set isn’t what I think is traditionally Lego, it will keep kids occupied and will encourage their creative sides.
Usual top quality bricks from Lego
I ordered this not because of the Harry Potter connection (tenuous at best) but because you get a decent amount of small, useful, Lego bricks for a very reasonable price. Some of the parts I will never use, but others are useful for finishing touches for other models.
It does include things like a bracelet and a keyring, so if you’re a Harry Potter fan, these will probably get a lot of use. There’s certainly a lot of mileage in the set for younger children but as another reviewer has commented, it’s really more accessories for an existing set.
Not bad, then, but not the best Lego purchase — although if you need the bricks contained in the set, it’s a useful way to get them.
The bricks themselves are, of course, great quality, as you would expect from Lego.
My introduction to DOTS
I hadn’t come across this before, but it is a nice little set for 8-year-olds or younger if used with an adult. HP fans will like the theme but it isn’t really central or essential to the play idea, Dots are really Lego wearables that can be used to make a range of different items to wear or carry, I think the Hogwarts idea is nice and there is plenty here to make, but for a first time purchase I would treat this as an extension to an existing set, the non-themed sets offer much more creativity and then you can use the skills and ideas to create your own HP items later.
Little fingers will find this a little challenging as the pieces are small, but all in all a nice little set as a gif
more instructions will be grea
This Lego 41808 set includes lots of dots, bag tags, a patch and a bracelet. It is more of a starter set if you start involving in Lego dots. For the Harry Potter line, it has larger set such as 41809 and 41811 if you find the starter set interesting and would like to expand the collection. Instruction is limited, I played Lego dots before therefore I have some ideas on what’s going on without the instructions. There are lots of things you can play around with the dots, you can make tags to put on your backpack, bag or belt; you can make a bracelet or fill the patch with dots of your design and sew it onto your clothes with the holes on the edges of the patch. Quite fun indeed.
Wearable LEGO with decorative Harry Potter pieces
This LEGO DOTS Hogwarts Accessories Pack comes in an unusually shaped box. There are 234 pieces inside and with LEGO DOTS pieces generally means single dot pieces and bases to mount them on, here including bag tags, a patch and a bracelet. The patch and bracelet are soft and flexible so can be worn, though you’ll need to sew the patch on (there are holes in the sides).
There aren’t instructions as such but there are pictures of the decorated items included for reference. The dots can of course be arranged in any order, that somewhat being the whole point of the set. There’s a colourful mix of squares, circles and quarter circles, some translucent and some solid. Some of the square pieces have Harry Potter themed prints on them, but they are not necessarily the ones pictured on the box, it seems that they are random, seeing as I got some duplicates in my box. This is of course intended to have collectors buying multiple sets in order to collect them all.
I got this set for my 8 year old niece who is thankfully too young to obsess over collecting every different piece. When I gave it to her she had great fun arranging the pieces in different orders and showing off the bracelet but I’m not sure how long this set is going to sustain her interest in the long term. However, as with all LEGO, the pieces will no doubt be repurposed to decorate some other creation and, being entirely decorative, they’ll no doubt come in useful.
At just under 13 for 234 pieces this set is reasonable value for collectors and a good buy for kids who like Harry Potter and wearing LEGO bracelets.
