My 9 year old Granddaughter loves her Ukulele & is getting on really well playing it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Ukulele
Bought as a present. My granddaughter loves it. Delivered on time.
For 56 I wasn’t expecting too much. At 85 years old it’s too late to buy a top quality uke. This ukulele is made in England. I was very surprised, the case and uke came in first class condition, well packed and a fast delivery. The string action is spot on and the resonance, is very very good. Just one niggle, spare strings are not marked, being experienced, not a problem for me but a beginner may well get them mixed up
5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Birthday Gif
I purchased this as a Birthday present for my uncle & he loved it. Great build quality & sound. Fantastic value for money. Now my Aunt wants one.
5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely
Bought for a four year old just to strum away on so can’t really comment on how good the sound quality is but it’s lovely made, looks a lot more expensive than it was. Very happy child.
Good looking and easy on the ear. The tuner is efficient and the chord chart is accurate. Nice little carry case, strap and spare strings. Ideal for me as I’ve never played a uke before.. Yes I’m very please so far.
I bought this for my daughter as an upgrade from a gear 4 music one.
My daughter progressed very well on the little Gear 4 Music ukelele but it proved too small for her to proceed. This Martin Smith version is perfect! It sounds great and is the perfect size for a 12 year old. Great value for money and an amazing instrument.
Good Uke for absolute beginners or kids to try out before committing to a more appropriate instrument. It holds its tuning well and holds up well to kids and drunk people messing with it. We use 3 of these for people who pop into our Uke club and they’re really good entry level ukes. Would recommend
eeds tuning frequently but easy to do
very good for beginners + good size for adults
ukulele feels cheap but its fine for beginners
4.0 out of 5 stars Looks greats. Sounds bad.
Took me two weeks to tune it with digital tuner and it still sounds like Lurch from the Adam is family passing gas. It definitely does not sound like the man’s ukelele who is giving YouTube lessons for free. This may be closer to a toy than a beginner’s instrument.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good
Arrived quicker than expected, was exactly as it stated on the description. Little boy was very pleased with it.
4.0 out of 5 stars Easy and fu
I had never played a musical instrument in my life and due it being so simple and fun I learnt it in just a few days. Love i
I read the reviews before buying. I read a lot of comments about the mildew on the case. I still decided to purchase this uke because it was a local seller and not international shipping costs. I also had mildew on the case, but not too bad for me compared to other buyers, and I think a day in the sun or a spritz with some vinegar will take care of that for me. If the case is a big deal for you, maybe take that into consideration.
Overall the Uke itself is a nice piece of equipment. It tuned easily, it comes with all the necessary gear to get started and for such a low price it was well worth. I love the rounded edge on the top of body so your arm sits comfortable and not on a sharp edge. I’m not a musician but already having fun with this wee beastie.
I got this tenor ukulele set for someone who hadn’t played one before. They joined our group who are learning to play and found the tenor size easier to handle. The set was on offer for 42 and I thought it was good value for money. It has a nice and tone and I found it easy to tune. Like all new strings, they need to stretch and it takes a while before they hold their tuning. It arrived the day it was promised and was as described.
Good for a beginne
I have recently started learning to play the ukulele and hence didn’t want to spend an enormous amount of money for my first one. I am really happy with my purchase. Although there are some markings on the instrument, it is more of an aesthetic issue, as it does not infringe on the quality of the instrument. The strings are good for a beginner as they do not hurt the tips of the fingers too much in the first weeks of playing. As to tuning – it does go out of tune slightly but that is just the specification of ukuleles, I believe. The protective bag that it comes with, unfortunately, started ripping, and therefore I recommend getting something more durable if your commuting with your ukulele a lot, or just want to be sure it is kept safe. Overall, I think it’s a good ukulele for beginner players.
For the price, this is not a bad ukelele. As is stated in lots of other reviews, it DOES go out of tune quickly when it first arrives, and the nylon strings do not sound as nice as a more expensive ukelele, but you get what you pay for. I have since changed the strings on this one from nylon to Aquila nylgut. The strings are still stretching but already it sounds better (these strings were under 7 and super easy to change. I’ve never done it before but just used a youtube tutorial.)
For a cheap uke, it is absolutely as expected. For a beginner, it really is fine. With a good clip-on tuner and the knowledge that it will never sound as warm as a more expensive uke. If you are looking for a starter to learn on, it is perfectly serviceable. Although I also have a slightly more expensive concert uke and tend to play that one more as it stays it tune more readily, this one is an excellent secondary instrument and would be perfect for children just starting out.
