4.0 out of 5 stars A bit fiddly to get it going - but all good once I did...!
Seemed to Install quickly and easily – BUT maximum of 90mb/s right next to the router! Was going to return it – but after fiddling for a whille got itr to work okay… I borrowed a laptop with CD drive so that I could copy the supplied driver and Realtek utility app. After that, I used the app to log in to the 5mHz signal and then was able to update the driver and away it went! I got about 300mb/s on 2.4mHz and a full 500 mb/s on 5mHz = again near to the router, but range did seem to be goo with the long antenna.
4.0 out of 5 stars MaxeslaUSB Wifi dongle
Arrived on time and well packaged. Very easy to install on Windows. Simply plugged in to a vacant port on my PC and windows recognised it and installed instantly. Never even had to use the disc or instruction booklet. This was to replace an old dongle that had stopped working. It works fine although I am not sure that the speed has been improved any as a result. Only gave it 4 stars for Wifi and gaming as it has only been installed for 2 days, so hasn’t stood the test of time yet.
Easy, great range wifi.
I build gaming PCs and people love to have wifi. I’ve tried many different types and have decided this one is the best value and easiest to install. It does come with a CD with drivers but Windows 10 has often just started working with it without the need for the installation disc. It picks up wifi from my neighbours 2 doors down so the range is good. My wife has even used one to improve the wifi from her work laptop and her office has bought a few for other staff.
4.0 out of 5 stars It works - but does have moments of not working
Worked straight away – no need to download software.
However, from time to time it loses connectivity for no apparent reason – only fix is to remove it from the USB port and reinsert.
Speedy & Stable
Purchased as needed to improve the wi-fi speed and range of my Dell desktop – the built in wi-fi card was horrendously slow. I followed the instructions in the enclosed booklet, and the speed really kicked in. I was getting <1 Mbps previously, but am now getting >100 Mbps. I am running Windows 10 and unlike some other users, I did install the relevant software from the enclosed CD. I was also sent an email from the supplier with links to a website to install the necessary drivers, but the CD was sufficient. I would try to plug this into a USB3 slot if you have one, as the resulting wi-fi speed will be quicker than USB2.
Nice one
I use it for 2 months and my experience is quite good but sometime it start dropping signal.when i take out and in then again start working perfect. Price wise it’s also good one.
5.0 out of 5 stars Value for money
Bought this to replace a problematic built-in network adapter in my Lenovo IdeaCentre PC which had stability issues on 5Ghz wireless channel from my router. At the price I didn’t see I had anything to lose. Firstly you DO NOT need to use the supplied driver/utility CD for installation on Windows 10 and on installation the unit locked onto my 5GHz wifi immediately so I disabled the built-in adapter via the windows device manager. It works OK using USB 2.0 port but I got buffering when trying to stream HD video, so changed to USB 3.0 port and problem was resolved. Data throughput was measured at 433mbps and perfectly stable. I suspect this limitation over what the claimed throughput could be is down to the router/PC combination so maybe a higher spec PC would give higher speed advantages.
Overall I’m satisfied that this is a good USB wifi adapter at a price that’s exceptional. No-fuss installation is also a bonus but remember you will should use Windows device manager to disable any built-in adapters to prevent potential driver and firewall conflicts.
Great value, and works very well
My inbuilt wi-fi was giving very poor speeds so I decided to get this to try and speed things up.
I’m pleased to say it worked, and I’m now getting decent speeds to the computer.
The instructions to install drivers seemed pointless, and downloading them from their site didn’t work. Really there was no need. With Windows 10 I just plugged in and it worked, no further work needed.
All in all recommended, and great results for the cost.
This is a prefect option for a wifi dongle
The delivery time was super fast. IT all came in good packaging and well protected. Its super easy to put together, you just have to screw it on. The can bent the top so you can have it in a more hidden location if you dont like the look of it. It’s also way better than normal wifi dongles. This one tranfers data much faster and goves me a stronger internet connection. If you are looking for a wifi dongle i reccomenf getting this one. Amazing for its price. Good service. Well done
Brilliant WiFi Adapter especially if you’re a distance from the router.
I live in a large house where my PC is a long distance from my router. I have 200mb broadband but my previous dongle had a ping of about 23ms and d/l speeds of up to 30mb. With this adapter I now have pings of 11ms and d/l speeds of up to 180mb, the large aerial on this WiFi adapter makes an incredible difference. I’ve tried the aerial vertical and horizontal and the results are the same, brilliant high speed connection.
No installation required, just plugged into a USB port and Windows 10 auto installed.
Good way to improve WiFi coverage
Took a little longer than expected to get working,
The QR link for the driver that came with the dongle was dead ,
The instruction booklet didn’t have a section for Windows 10,
But a bit of patience and found the correct driver online,
It works well now , one star dropped for the aforementioned reasons.
Works well
Using on a PC, as I cannot plug in to a LAN cable at present. Works OK, not difficult to set up in Windows. Speed is OK for me, but probably not for gaming etc. Good product for the price.
Very fast, arrived and assembled within minutes and just plugged it into the back of one of my USB ports. Instantly detected it was a WIFI router, and I just went to settings and connected to my home WIFI.
Couldn’t really download any drivers as it came with a disk and a QR code which I can’t really scan with my pc. WIFI speed is excellent, every time you boot up your pc it connects decently quick. Gaming wise I have a few stutter issues within games like Valorant however those go away within seconds and they’re hardly noticeable. This is the first WIFI router I’ve purchased and very happy for the price (14.95 at the time of purchase) and have read under some reviews on other products that there are really bad ones. I’m grateful I bought this one and did not have any issues with it at all.
Overall, highly recommend for anyone whether you’re going through youtube and google or gaming for hours upon hours (like me).
EDIT:
Still really good after 8 months, however be careful about the size of it. I’ve accidentally hit it a few times and 8% of the time when you turn on the pc it doesn’t detect a WiFi. however unplugging it and replugging it resolved the issue 🙂
Good Value, easy to set up.
Used this to connect my Windows 10 Dell. It comes with a Realtek App which makes it simple to connect to either 2.4 or 5 Ghz. I have a wall and ceiling between the PC and Router, found full signal and link quality on 2.4GHz. On 5GHz had full signal but only 70% link quality. Both connections are fine for browsing and streaming but I’m not a gamer so can’t comment. I’m happy overall for the price.
Significantly better than expected
Ok, so the wife is back working from home again and she is using a desktop with a USB wi-fi adaptor supplied by work.
We have a fast connection and an outstanding router so it di not take long to realise the cause of her connection issues (and subsequent frustration evidenced by some less than lady-like use of the English language) was the less than impressive adaptor.
I gave this a shot as it was on a lightning deal and I have to admit it has been absolutely brilliant.
Simply plugged into desktop via a spare USB port, let windows sort out the drivers (the instructions to download are just a level above a complete waste of time!) and then connected to the wi-fi.
2 weeks on and not a single drop out or connection issue. A speedtest check has shown a doubling in the connection speed also.
Overall I am seriously impressed for the money!
Does the job
It worked first time after plugging in. Just had to connect to the WiFi. I haven’t used it much though but I only seen to get about 25mb speed of a 150mb line. So not sure it would be good enough to game on. But fine for surfing the Web etc. For that reason I knocked a star off.
2 Hours late
Only 4* due to the fact that the disc wouldn’t work in my PC. Plus it was scratched and had finger prints on it.
Downloaded the drivers from the website to my laptop and they didn’t work either! or from any other download site.
Tried the disc (after a good clean) in my laptop and BINGO!!!! Loaded driver onto a USB stick. Into the PC. Plugged the USB adapter in and all is well. But a waste of 2 hours.
Upgraded old PC to ultrafast broadband
We have just had ultrafast broadband installed, but I was finding that my cabled network wasn’t giving the best speeds from the router. My mobile phone which could connect on the 5Ghz band was getting much better speeds. My laptop which is pretty old only had 2.4Ghz built in so I looked around for a solution and found this. At first I tried to plug in the unit assuming that Windows 10 would simply recognise the unit on usb straight away but it didn’t. I then followed the instructions to use the supplied disc and bingo, it worked. I had to tell the Realtek utility which band to connect to and that was it. There were other more expensive options from bigger suppliers but this works well enough and it’s difficult to see how spending more would get you better performance. My broadband supply speed is 108Mb/s at the router. This antenna gives 92 Mb/s on my laptop at a distance of 12 metres on a different floor of the house. This unit seems to me to be very good value for money and it works very well.
I have no connection to the supplier or manufacturer, just thought it might be helpful for people to benefit from my experience.
The answer to all my problems at last.
I used to connect my PC via an ethernet cable through a powerline adapter, but it use to drop the connection a lot and I mean a lot , turn on an appliance on the same electrical ring main- drop the connection, switch off something – connection drop, boiler fires up – connection drop, you get it and it happened so much that playing games that needed a constant connection was out of the question.
Not any more… I can connect directly to my Fibre Broadband Router with 5G and I get a brilliant connection thanks to this little beauty. I average over 300mbs download and nearly 100mbs upload and that’s with my two lads upstairs with their gaming pc’s connected as well. NO DROP OUTS – REPORTED TO DATE
Extremely pleased, happy and over the moon with this dongle and for just over 10 – awesome
Works well but quirky installatio
Bought to replace a similar dongle which had progressed from frequently losing internet connection to almost never achieving a connection. Once installed this device works well with a better signal strength and, so far, has maintained a perfect connection. Happy customer.
But the installation: The specified location to download a driver did not appear to exist. Having to download a driver for a device who’s purpose is to enable downloads is not a good idea. I couldn’t get the QR code to do anything, but that is probably my problem. The driver on the mini CD installed easily and seems to work fine although for some reason it didn’t initially connect until Windows network troubleshooter selected the correct router.
Screwed in the Arial to the dongle (that will rotate to help miss any other USB ports – mine was left in the vertical position), plugged in the back of my windows desktop PC (which is 2 floors above the wireless router) – within 10 seconds I got the option to choose what network to join (little icon near the time), clicked icon – selected network and entered password – Now online.
Did a speed test and got the same results as other wireless devices.
Note: At the beginning, I got a message “Not Connected To The Internet” 5 seconds later I was online.
This was probably windows firewall related and not the dongles fault – though I should mention this to help prevent panic.
I was very sceptical at first as my PC is upstairs in a converted loft and didn’t think that the distance from my pc to my router would reach the antenna as it literally looked like a usb stick with an optional antenna attachment, however after attaching said antenna and literally plugging it into the USB 3.0 Port at the back of my PC , my PC recognised it as a Wi-Fi USB stick and installed the drivers before I could get back up from behind the computer and check the screen to see if it was recognised by windows then went onto proceed to give me the entire neighbourhoods selection of access points I could connect to including 5ghz connections which even my PS4 isn’t even capable of connecting too despite being right next to my router.
The USB adapter does come with a small form factor disk not to dissimilar to a GameCube disk if anyone is familiar with those consoles and instructions, however now a days windows 10 recognizes pretty much everything you plug into it unless it is not working. And it couldn’t be anymore simpler than that. Plug it in and connect to the internet. Works wonders so far .
