I really love this mascara, I have always used a good quality mascara, but as I’ve got older my eyes Warter which gives me panda eyes. Wasn’t to keen on trying waterproof because of past experience of taking it off.
Wow this is brilliant, my lashes look long and a bit thicker,. It feels nice on my lashes and removes easily with my cleanser. No more panda eyes for me. Lovely shaped brush makes applying easy, very pleased.
his mascara is my favvv, it’s hard to remove but other than that i love everything ab it. it also did take a while to come due to valentines day.
Thankfully the mascara is good enough to justify the nearly 15 minutes I took to open it!
At first I thought it was terrible but then I tried it again and oh my gosh it’s literally the best mascara I’ve ever tried. Id recommend getting the darker shade so it stands out more. Perfect for volume and length because it doesn’t clump much so you can add up to 3 coats id say

Really enjoy this mascara, and for me is such a dupe for the Too Faced ‘Better than Sex’ mascara, very volumising and “fluffy” so if you’re into that look this is a must buy especially if you’re on a budget.
Love maybe line normally use calorie 2000 but this one is even better my lashes are so much longer would definitely recommend
I don’t find this mascara smudges at all, unless wearing it for 12 hours plus and it’s easy to remove as it’s not waterproof. I prefer this over the other popular mascara, in the pink tube with the curved brush, as I can really get to all areas of my lash line and also helps volumise if I’m going for a thicker bolder look.
Absolutely lovely mascara.Goes on smoothly no clumping or smudging through out the day.Very easy to remove at end of day.Great value for money will definitely be purchasing again.
I’ve been using it for so long and I find so easy to remove it just with a little bit of any oil but I’ve tried with olive oil and Johnson’s baby and I definitely recommend better the Johnson’s as it’s more handy in the toilet, right?

Following my first purchase I wrote a mediocre review of this mascara which I regret.
The product (new) is full and fluid and the brush is well loaded and I wasn’t used to the applicator brush (it’s a snowman type shape amd I’ve only ever really used standard mascara wands). Within a few weeks my concerns and technique no longer caused me concern. Perfect lashes – buildable, waterproof and defined.
Fast forward four months and the mascara is running low as can be expected. I’m noticing my eyes appear smaller and lashes shorter (put it down to ageing).
Six months later I’m scraping at the dregs and decide to ‘just buy another’ and save myself time researching a waterproof, colonising, defining, lengthening mascara that didn’t clump my lashes (I’m in my early 40’s and my face, skin, hair etc is changing and I just couldn’t bothered doing more research – now the weather has turned I’m feeling less confident and more tired and just need to focus on my family, work, surviving the economic crisis etc – not my makeup smudging and running in the rain).
Anyway, still 6, I’m now familiar with the wand and I know no amount of rain, humidity or tears will cause me to have to worry about my appearance during the course of my hectic days, so it’s an easy decision and I’ve repurchased.
And I will do so again, and again! With a new, fully loaded mascara my eyes are popping, my lashes defined and lengthened, and my confidence is boosted.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I’m still making my mind up about this product it does tend to smudge which isn’t great but it was around 6. The brush is a little oddly shaped but does separate lashes which I like. Second coat necessary to build definition. Perfect for younger people but for me the smudging is a pain (below eyes from blinking and possible rubbing). Not a bad buy overall.
This mascara surprised me. Its very wet but it works. 2 coats & I have thicker looking eyelashes that aren’t all stuck together. Super glue wouldn’t make my lashes stay upright as they collapse with mascara on. However this isn’t overly heavy on them.
The brush is too fat for bottom lashes & the ones near the inner corner. I use 2 coats of this & then the sky high on the short ones.
Easier than the sky high to remove but not 100% waterproof, as in will come off in the shower. It stays on in the rain but I wouldn’t be confident it would last through a full on downpour. Oil based remover is needed.
Overall atm its working for my lashes. At least until I lose a load of them as happens every few months for some reason. Then I’ll have to use the sky high first to get some length on the stubby ones.
Remember to scrape off the excess for the first few uses or you will have far too much on the brush & end up with stuck together lashes. It is very black, which I think helps give the illusion of thicker lashes.
Mascara is a very personal thing but this is with a whirl if you have pathetic lashes like me
I don’t like the brush though – it’s so big. It makes it very hard to put on without getting mascara on my eyelid. Also hard to do my shimmying technique. But I am getting more used to it the more I use it. I like that the formula is buildable. One coat looks very natural – lashes are lifted and curled and separated. Two or three coats and you get the false lash effect – which is great. My Mum even commented that when I was looking down it looked like I was wearing false lashes, in a good way! The lift doesn’t last all day though, and I always use an eyelash curler. I do find that as the day progresses the lashes clump a little, which is such a shame. The formula is really lovely, and I can almost feel it doing my lashes some good. It’s like putting on a really creamy lipbalm but for your lashes. I am going to try it with a non-fibre brush. I have been using the Rimmel 3D mascara, which has a much better brush and lasts really well and is half the price, but I was beginning to get annoyed with the shedding of flakes at the end of a long day if I rubbed my eyes.
I have never aspired to wearing false lashes, but I find that most mascaras lack in impact on my lashes. I have to then apply several layers just to get to a point where I am ‘happy’ with coverage.
Not so with this product. I first saw an advert and thought perhaps this was worth a try. I reassured myself I would be able to apply such a thin layer that they wouldn’t look ugly or gloopy following application, as I expected them to.
Well, the effect has been transformative. This product gives great coverage to the lashes, even in one application, and although I use two, just to be sure they are noticeable, it is not gloopy, it doesn’t clog, and it goes on very evenly. In fact, it puts other expensive brands to shame; they really under-perform in comparison, in my experience…and I had been disappointed by what was available for some years.
I can’t recommend this mascara highly enough. I do have to buy a new one every five to six weeks, as expected, but it also runs out in a reasonable way, rather than clogging up the brush. I also should point out that the brush is very effective and efficient, being one of the larger types, with a slight dip in the centre – the kind I have always preferred for good coverage and ease of application to ALL lashes, even the ones in the inner corners of the eye.
The mascara is not expensive, it is very effective, and you can apply as many layers as you like without it doing anything other than enhancing your lashes. Added to which, it washes off quite easily with soap and water!
Well done, Maybelline! I never thought you would outdo the high-end manufacturers, but you have…and I can’t recommend this product highly enough.
Seriously, just buy this. I’ve tried tonnes of mascaras over many years on the search for the perfect one, from ones costing anywhere from 4 to 40, and I’ve genuinely never liked a mascara anywhere near as much as this stuff.
So, being realistic, no mascara will ever curl your lashes in the same way a curler will. This does genuinely add lift, and seems to hold my lashes up so it scores points for its curling ability from me. LOADS of mascaras I’ve tried have quite a wet formula which I just think weighs the lashes down and pulls them straight. This one is a fairly dry looking formula on the wand (and I’ve seen reviews of this mascara saying it’s too dry or assuming the tube they received was too old) but a couple of months later the tube is still working it’s magic, so I think it’s the specific formula of this one that’s dry so it’s weightless.
It adds for me just the right amount of volume, so my lashes as defined but not clumpy and it’s seriously BLACK too. It also seems to somehow give the illusion of lengthening more than many of the lengthening mascaras I’ve tried, without having any fibres (or at least none that I’ve ever noticed shed) so it’s never caused me any irritation.
It doesn’t shed during the day for me, or go grey-ish and brittle like many and I’ve never had it deposit those lovely dark circles of mascara dust that many others seem to do. I can’t remember if it’s waterproof according to the bottle/advert, but I’ve had a good cry at a film (Coco, bloody lovely) and it didn’t budge.
Naturally it’s not THE EASIEST to remove, but if it was you’d be moaning about how little staying power it had. I’ve found it comes off with any decent oil based eye makeup remover, a miscellar water or my personal fave, coconut oil. Horror story – one of the frogs I kissed in my search for the mascara prince was the Estee Lauder Double Wear one, and oh my word I thought I was going to have to live in that forever, or pull out most of my lashes trying to get it off. Never again – one use and that tube went in the bin…
