    The wife is happy
This item was double the price in the diy shops. The missus wanted something easy like this after a new shed built at the side of the house. Easy to install with all fixings and hooks supplied..A happy wife is a happy life!!!

Easy to install & Holds the weigh
Purchased this tentatively but it has held up well. Bolts provided are strong enough and cables bear a lot of weight given we load it up as much as we can sometimes.
Great product and would recommend if you don’t want to run a washing line either the length of your garden or if you’re limited to space.

    Good quality
The product seems to be good and the price is affordable. The only downside is that Amazon sent me a refund as you can see in the video. The box has been opened multiple times.

    Replace old one
The great thing was the fittings from my old one, did not need replacing. So removed the 2 pins from the old one and fitted the new one to the bracket with new pins

Make sure you secure the washing line around the base lugs
When I first used this I only wound the line around the lugs on the bottom once and put my washing out to find that the weight of the washing had pulled more line out so the line was sagging badly, so now I wind it arround a couple of times. Unless you have used one of these you might find it difficult to understand my not very good explanation of what happened !!

    It's Portable!
The product appears to be well built although there is a question mark over the built-in cleat which may not be able to handle a heavy load. I intend to install a metal cleat beneath it to fix the cable at a later date. It’s a bit pricey but the deal breaker for me is that you can remove the cassette from its mounting and store it indoor. Mounting it back for use is a doddle. Highly recommended.

Works well, but the design could be significantly improved
Works well, but the design could be significantly improved. The lugs that hold the lines in place are a bit small given that you have to wrap the lines round each one twice. They feel a bit flimsy too, and others have reported that they weaken and break over time. We’ll see I guess, but for now all is good.

    Still a good quality produc
Went with what I knew, and that was Minky. It was to replace a 10 year old version of this, as one of its lines, was just to snap. It had served its time.

Mine stays pulled out, so every now and again, you have to tighten the lines, around the little fasteners.

Still a good, sturdy, practical washing line.

    Happy with double line
Feel for the price the casing could be bit stronger the attachment to go on wall is very strong not actually used it yet but it was a great length only giving 4stars as the casing feels flimsy and doesn’t seem to match the weight of the product x

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersStill going strong...
Had this for over 2 and a half years and is still in perfect working order.

As per my picture I would recommend having another means to tie the line.
Plastic tabs are weak and line slips under a heavy washing load.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersToggles that secure the line snap off in under a yea
Bought a single line Minky and the clip that
the pulled out line wraps around broke off after a year. I assumed from the heavy yellow discoloration of the grey plastic that UV damage caused it to go brittle. I bought a second double line Minky and used it for six months over the summer then brought it inside in September until April so it didn’t sit there in the harsh elements. Both clips have just broken off after less than six months of use. I rarely load each line up with more than 3m of washing and the lines extend 9m long. I contacted Minky who advised the broken toggles are indicative of too much weight on the line and a pole should be used to elevate the line from the toggles. I have accepted Minky’s kind offer of a replacement unit as a good will gesture and will use a pole so the line doesn’t elevate down from the toggles. Stars changed from 1 to 4 due to the excellent customer service from Minky.

Minky Retractable looks OK .... bu
The first one that we had lasted years and we had no hesitation is ordering a replacement, however this one barely lasted two years with the lock feature breaking. Nevertheless we gave the product the benefit of the doubt and have recently taken delivery of a third Minky, which is working well at the moment.
The girth of the washing line has however got noticeably smaller and I do wonder if this will be durable in the long term.
I just get the impression that Minky the market leader has decided they can get away with trimming the quality of the product. So prospective purchasers beware.

Weakest components of Minky double washing line
I have owned this double Minky washing line for many many years, possibly 10 years + and have just had to replace it. I am pleased with the line, but feel it is constructive to point out its weak points and reasons I had to replace it – firstly the plastic loops at the end of each line, that hook onto the metal hooks, perished after a considerable time, this isn’t so much of an issue, as you can simply create a substitute loop using the actual line by tying a knot. Secondly, the lugs underneath the canister, perish and break after a considerable time (many years) this caused the reason for replacing. The lugs I refer to keep the tension locked on the line/s.
I do feel I got my money’s worth and wish I had realised that the canister etc had been designed to be easily lifted off of the mount, so it can be stored over winter, this would prolong the plastics life!
My new Minky design was unchanged from my previous Minky, thus I simply pulled up 2 rods from the old mount and simply reinserted them into my new one, therefore I didn’t need to drill and reconnect the new mount. Each line can be extended, up to 15 meters, or less if required. Recommend.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersUseful product, but may need replacement after a few years.
This is the second of these Minky clothes lines that I have bought, with this one being a direct replacement for the first.

The product is fairly easy to install if you can do a bit of basic DIY. Drill two vertically stacked holes in your wall, screw in the mounting post, and then slot the plastic housing containing the reel onto the top.

Once in use, the clothes line is effective, you drag the end of the line over to your chosen attachment point, and then you walk back and wrap a section of clothes line around an oval shaped plastic retainer at the bottom of the reel housing, which keeps the line taught. What I found was that after maybe 3 or 4 years of use, the aforementioned plastic oval retainer became brittle and snapped off, meaning I could no longer anchor the clothes line.

Apart from this issue, I had been completely happy with the product, so I chose to order the same again, as I already had the correct mounting post up on the wall.

Taking the reasonable price into account, I felt that 3-4 years was decent value for the product. Plastic does become brittle and snap when constantly exposed to the elements, so you can’t expect it to last forever if it’s permanently kept outside. You could of course detach the reel from the mount (very easy to do, it simply slides on and off) and store it indoors or in your shed when not in use, which would no doubt prolong its life, although this would be a bit inconvenient.

The right washing line to have
I cannot find anything negative to say about this superb washing line. Far superior to my previous one.
It is easy to install, looks great! the lines are ample and strong. Overall a very well designed and manufactured piece of kit. 100% recommend.

This is my second time of buying this as we moved house and regrettably left the old one. Its fantastic! Its hidden behind some foliage so you can bearly see it and i like the fact its retractable and you can tidy it away very quickly. I added some clips to the end so i can loop it around a tree trunk in the garden and you can fit loads os washing on. We inherited a washing pole in the new house which has also change my life! How sad……….

    Prone to breaking.
I purchased one of these in May this year, to replace on of the same type.
Both units suffered a breakage on the plastic clip that the line wraps around to take up the slack.

    Really good washing line
This is my second of these washing lines. The first lasted me about 10 years before the line just stretched too much and broke. Up until then it did a great job – so at 1.90 per year I would say that it’s good value.

    Sturdy well made
Our last washing line didn’t survive its second winter.
The plastic became brittle and it fell apart.

This item however seems to be a lot more sturdy and well made,I think it’s gonna last.

This product is strong – really good length of line – stands up to all the weathers (where we have ours situated). Would buy and have done from this company again.

Super easy to install and use. Sturdy and well made. Super neat little contraption that means I don’t have to look at a permanent washing line or the eye sore that is a whirly one!

    Value for money
This is about my second item, the first arrived with all of it’s accessories missing even the installation leaflet. Returned for a replacement, thankfully this one arrived with everything in the package. It looks like a well made product, haven’t used or fitted it yet, old line still hanging in there.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBetter than expected
I was hesitant about getting one of these as I thought it might fall apart quickly. It’s actually pretty sturdy though and it’s WAY better than a rotary washing line which takes up space and looks really ugly!

I have attached this next to some additional metal cord anchors that I installed as I don’t trust the plastic cord anchors on the base of the box.

It’s so easy to install, just a plate on the wall that this slots onto in seconds and then a couple of hooks to attach the other end to. I tend to take mine back indoors after use to avoid sun damage to the plastic over time.

It works perfectly and I only wish I got one years ago, my old rotary washing line was an eyesore and took up so much room!

    Does the job
Easy to use. Don’t put the 2 lines close together. Try and put them at an angle to each other for better air to dry washing. Also get a clothes line pole to stop sheets touching the ground. Easy retractable washing lines and doesn’t look an eyesore in the garden. Very happy.

Does what it is supposed to do.
I’m not sure what to write about this as it is doing what i expected it to do. I have put the washing line up the garden and it has been used many times. It has not slackened and remains sturdy. I retract it when the nephews come over and play football and when we have people over and sit out in the garden, and then it is easy to extend when I want to use it again. This works as advertised and as I need it to, so 5 stars

    Simple but effective.
Very easy to install onto a wooden 4×4 post the old line was hooked onto. and will be easy to remove during the winter months when its not going to be used.

the lock feature of wrapping it around a tab at the bottom is simple but effective, as long as you gauge how much you need correctly.

overall its ok, a simple design that hold the washing niely, doesn’t seem to stretch too much when hanging the clothes on it and using a pole to raise it up. time will tell how durable it is.

    Throw down a line!
Much better and sturdier than my old one, but still worries over the plastic hooks on the end of the lines. I don’t trust them to last so I tie the line itself in a knot around the metal hook instead. Otherwise excellent.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFantastic when new
I have bought 4 of these and it looks hard to gauge if it is good or bad for that reason..Good because when new they are superb..but like many previous reviews, the underlying hooks fail, due to general wear and tear and weathering. So, If you are happy to spend this reasonable amount for 3 good years use..highly recommend..but if you want something more long lasting..look elsewhere.

Easy to install and easy to use.
Great compact device when you don’t want to leave your line out if it isn’t being used.
You fix the metal bracket to a sturdy wall/fence post etc. Then the hard plastic covered line clips onto that so you can detach it if you need to.
The line is in side a spring loaded coil that unwinds and rewinds with ease.
With over 30meters of line so you can get almost 3 full wash loads done in one go. That’s a bonus for me.

Good product but plastic cleets decay over time
Have been through 2 of these now – they are great for about 3 years, but when used outdoors the plastic cleet underneath decay over time and eventually snap rendering the line as broken and unable to be fixed. It would be even better if they were made of metal to avoid this from happening. In all other respects this is a great product .. just a shame I am on number 3 now.

    Good but..
Good product but it’s difficult to keep it really tight, if there was a mechanical way to tighten it I think that would be better. There are only plastic bits that stick out at the bottom that you can wrap the wire around, and even then after putting your watching on it it still sags more then I would like.

I absolutely love this line, I was able to get several wash loads out without taken up any garden space, unfortunately 2 years in and one has broken But well worth the 2 years

    Does the job
I installed this easy enough and mounted the reel. I noticed that the clips when retracted don’t fit the body of the reel very well so it’s not water tight. My previous one the clips fit the body well. I use this in Spain and we get mucky rain, leaves everything covered in the sand from the sahara! When I returned the line was dirty from water that had gotten in! So, I now take the line down when we are not in Spain! A bit of a pain but not the end of the world.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersGood first impressions.
I took note of previous reviewers and decided to fix a sturdy pair of galvanised cleats each side of the reel to take the strain of a loaded washing line in a stiff breeze.
Fitting would normally be easy, but I had the misfortune to encounter some of the hardest facing bricks that I have ever come across. My DeWalt battery hammer drill was too light and took 4 batteries and about an hour to drill just 2 holes and that was when using the smallest masonry bit first to make a pilot hole. My heavy SDS Drill tended to bounce around and flake off parts of the brick surface even after starting on rotary only, before I risked the hammer action. I was working away from home at a relative’s house so did not have access to my medium sized Makita hammer drill which may have been the optimum.
I eventually achieved a sound installation and the washing line works well and its owner/user is very happy with it.
It’s a good system but just be aware of potential problems which might occur during the instalation and plan accordingly and try to avoid ridiculously hard facing bricks, render over blocks would be a doddle but use longer screws and plugs.
